Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a sealed lithium secondary battery. Specifically, the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing the battery having stable performance.
Lithium ion batteries and other lithium secondary batteries are smaller, lighter and have a higher energy density than the existing batteries, and are excellent in output density. For this reason, in recent years, it is preferably used as a so-called portable power source for personal computers and portable terminals, and a power source for driving vehicles.
One form of such a battery is a sealed lithium secondary battery. The battery typically includes an electrode body including a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and an electrolyte (typically, an electrolyte) in an environment with a very low humidity (hereinafter referred to as “dry environment”). It is constructed by attaching a lid to the case and sealing (sealing). The electrode (positive electrode and negative electrode) is an electrode mixture layer (positive electrode mixture) mainly composed of an active material capable of reversibly occluding and releasing charge carriers (lithium ions) on corresponding positive and negative current collectors. Layer and a negative electrode mixture layer).
By the way, in a sealed lithium secondary battery, a small amount of water and electrolyte components (non-aqueous solvent, supporting salt, etc.) contained in the battery member are decomposed on the electrode surface during the first charge, and gas is generated. . The generation of such gas increases the internal pressure of the battery.
However, in the manufacturing method described in
This invention is made | formed in view of this point, The place made into the objective is providing the method which can mass-produce the sealed lithium secondary battery which has the stable performance more simply.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention discloses a method of manufacturing a sealed lithium secondary battery including an electrode body, an electrolytic solution, and a hard case having a predetermined shape that can be sealed. The manufacturing method includes a step of housing the electrode body including a positive electrode and a negative electrode and the electrolytic solution in the hard case, a sealing step of sealing the hard case in a state where the inside of the hard case is in a negative pressure, Including an initial charging step in which the electrode body adjusts to a voltage at which gas is generated after the sealing step, and a main charging step in which charging is performed up to a predetermined voltage after the initial charging step. Until the main charging step, the hard case is kept sealed so that the inside of the hard case is not released to the atmosphere, and the initial charging step is performed with respect to the electrode body in the case. It is characterized by being performed in a state where pressure is applied in the direction of.
According to the manufacturing method disclosed herein, since the inside of the hard case is not released to the atmosphere after the sealing process, the equipment for maintaining the dry environment is minimal, and the costs, maintenance, etc. necessary to maintain such an environment are required. Can be greatly reduced. In addition, special equipment and operation (for example, opening a hard case or forcibly discharging gas in the case) are not required to discharge the generated gas, which is convenient. Further, the work is simplified, and the defective product occurrence rate can be preferably suppressed.
In addition, by pressurizing the electrode body in the hard case in the first charging step, the generated gas is smoothly discharged out of the electrode body. For this reason, the time required for manufacturing the battery can be shortened compared to the prior art, which is efficient. Furthermore, the swelling of the hard case due to the generation of gas can be suppressed by such pressurization.
Therefore, according to the manufacturing method disclosed herein, a battery with stable performance can be manufactured more simply and efficiently. Preferably, the battery characteristics can be improved (for example, the energy density can be increased or the resistance can be reduced) by reducing the gas retention (remaining) in the electrode body.
In a preferred embodiment of the method for manufacturing a sealed lithium secondary battery disclosed herein, the case has a rectangular parallelepiped shape, and pressure is applied in a state where at least a pair of wide surfaces of the case are sandwiched between restraining plates.
By applying pressure while sandwiched between the restraining plates, the hard case (specifically, the electrode body in the case) can be easily pressurized throughout. For this reason, the gas accumulated in the electrode body (for example, between the electrode and the separator) can be discharged more smoothly to the outside of the electrode body.
In a preferred embodiment of the method for producing a sealed lithium secondary battery disclosed herein, the electrode body is a flat wound electrode body.
In the flat wound electrode body, since the surface pressure differs between the corner portion and the straight portion of the electrode, the gas generated in the first charging step is a straight portion having a low surface pressure (typically the width of the electrode body). It tends to stay in the central part in the direction and hardly come out of the electrode body. For this reason, in a battery provided with such a wound electrode body, it takes a long time to discharge the generated gas to the outside of the electrode body. However, according to the manufacturing method disclosed herein, since pressure is applied in the initial charging step, the gas generated more efficiently than before can be discharged out of the wound electrode body, and thus the quality is stable. The battery can be manufactured efficiently.
In a preferred aspect of the method for manufacturing a sealed lithium secondary battery disclosed herein, the pressure is applied so that a higher pressure is applied to the central portion than the end portion in the direction orthogonal to the predetermined pressing direction of the electrode body. Add.
By applying a high pressure to the central portion of the electrode body, the gas staying in the electrode body can be more easily discharged out of the electrode body, and the time required for manufacturing (typically the leaving step) can be shortened. Therefore, a battery with a stable quality can be manufactured smoothly and efficiently.
In a preferred aspect of the method for producing a sealed lithium secondary battery disclosed herein, the gas generated by the initial charge substantially escapes from the electrode body after the initial charge step and before the main charge step.
In a preferred aspect of the method for manufacturing a sealed lithium secondary battery disclosed herein, the initial charging step is 1 V or more, and charging is performed so as not to exceed a voltage determined in the main charging step.
In the initial charging step, by adjusting the voltage of the battery to such a range, a part of the electrolytic solution is decomposed to generate gas, and a film (SEI: Solid Electrolyte Interface) is formed on the surface of the negative electrode active material. Thereby, the interface between the negative electrode surface and the electrolytic solution is stabilized, and further decomposition of the electrolytic solution component can be prevented. For this reason, the battery with stable quality can be manufactured.

≪Preparation of battery components≫
First, an electrode body including a positive electrode and a negative electrode is prepared. As the positive electrode of the sealed lithium secondary battery disclosed herein, a positive electrode active material, a conductive material, a binder, and the like are mixed in a suitable solvent to form a slurry (including paste and ink). The positive electrode mixture layer forming composition (hereinafter referred to as “positive electrode mixture slurry”) was prepared, and the slurry was applied onto the positive electrode current collector to form a positive electrode mixture layer (also referred to as a positive electrode active material layer). The thing which formed the form is used. As a method for forming the positive electrode mixture layer, a method in which an appropriate amount of the positive electrode mixture slurry is applied to one side or both sides of the positive electrode current collector and dried can be preferably employed. After drying the positive electrode mixture slurry, the thickness and density of the positive electrode mixture layer can be adjusted by appropriately performing a press treatment.
Examples of the material for the positive electrode current collector used here include aluminum, nickel, titanium, and stainless steel. The shape of the current collector is not particularly limited because it may vary depending on the shape of the battery constructed using the obtained electrode, and a rod-like body, a plate-like body, a foil-like body, a net-like body, or the like may be used. it can. For example, a foil-like body is mainly used in a battery provided with a wound electrode body to be described later. The thickness of the foil-shaped current collector is not particularly limited, but about 5 μm to 50 μm (more preferably 8 μm to 30 μm) can be preferably used in consideration of the capacity density of the battery and the strength of the current collector.

In addition, a positive electrode active material made of lithium nickel cobalt manganese composite oxide) has excellent thermal stability and high energy density. Moreover, in the battery using NCM as the positive electrode active material, excessive decomposition reaction of the electrolytic solution can be suppressed in the first charging step (S30) described later, and gas generation can be reduced. For this reason, NCM can be used suitably in the manufacturing method disclosed here.

However, graphite can be preferably used. Examples of the graphite include natural graphite (graphite) taken from natural minerals, artificial graphite manufactured from petroleum or coal-based materials, or those obtained by subjecting the graphite to processing such as pulverization or pressing. There may be one or more selected.
Although not particularly limited, the proportion of the negative electrode active material in the entire negative electrode mixture layer is usually about 50% by mass or more, preferably about 90% by mass to 99% by mass (eg, about 95 mass% to 99 mass%).

As the binder used here, an appropriate material can be selected from the polymer materials exemplified as the binder for the positive electrode mixture layer. Examples thereof include polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), and the like. Moreover, as a solvent used here, a suitable thing can be selected from the solvent illustrated as a solvent used when forming the said positive mix layer.
The positive electrode and the negative electrode are laminated to produce an electrode body. The shape of the electrode body is not particularly limited. For example, a long positive electrode mixture layer having a predetermined width is formed on a long positive electrode current collector along the longitudinal direction of the current collector. And a long negative electrode in which a negative electrode mixture layer having a predetermined width is formed on the long negative electrode current collector along the longitudinal direction of the current collector. A wound electrode body that is wound can be used. When such an electrode body has a flat shape crushed from the side surface direction, the surface pressure is different between the corner portion and the linear portion of the electrode body, so that the gas generated in the initial charging step stays in the linear portion with a low surface pressure. This tends to lead to a decrease in battery characteristics. However, according to the manufacturing method disclosed herein, since pressurization is performed in the initial charging step, the generated gas is prevented from staying in the wound electrode body even in such a case, as shown in Examples described later. Can do. For this reason, the battery with stable quality can be manufactured.
In the typical configuration of the sealed lithium secondary battery disclosed herein, a separator is interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. As the separator used here, various porous sheets similar to those conventionally used for lithium secondary batteries can be used. For example, a porous resin sheet (film, nonwoven fabric, etc.) made of a resin such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyester, cellulose, polyamide or the like can be mentioned. Such a porous resin sheet may have a single layer structure, or may have a two or more layers structure (for example, a three-layer structure in which a PP layer is laminated on both sides of a PE layer). Further, in a sealed lithium secondary battery (lithium polymer battery) using a solid electrolyte solution, the electrolyte may also serve as a separator.
«Electrode housing step; S10»
And the said electrode body and electrolyte solution are accommodated in a suitable hard case. As a hard case used here, the material and shape used for the conventional lithium secondary battery can be used. Examples of the material of the case include metal materials such as aluminum and steel, and resin materials such as polyolefin resin and polyimide resin. Among them, a relatively light metal hard case (for example, made of aluminum or aluminum alloy) can be preferably used for the reason that heat dissipation and energy density can be improved. The shape of the case (outer shape of the container) is not particularly limited, for example, a circular shape (cylindrical shape, coin shape, button shape), a hexahedron shape (a rectangular parallelepiped shape, a cubic shape), and a shape obtained by processing and deforming them. It can be. In addition, the case can be provided with a safety mechanism such as a current interruption mechanism (a mechanism capable of interrupting current in response to an increase in internal pressure when the battery is overcharged).
As the electrolytic solution used here, one kind or two or more kinds similar to the nonaqueous electrolytic solution used in the conventional lithium secondary battery can be used without any particular limitation. Such a nonaqueous electrolytic solution typically has a composition in which an electrolyte (lithium salt) is contained in a suitable nonaqueous solvent.
As the non-aqueous solvent, aprotic solvents such as carbonates, esters, ethers, nitriles, sulfones, and lactones can be used. For example, ethylene carbonate (EC), propylene carbonate (PC), diethyl carbonate (DEC), dimethyl carbonate (DMC), ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), 1,2-dimethoxyethane, 1,2-diethoxyethane, tetrahydrofuran ( THF), 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, dioxane, 1,3-dioxolane, diethylene glycol, ethylene glycol, dimethyl ether, acetonitrile, propionitrile, nitromethane, N, N-dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, sulfolane, γ-butyrolactone, and the like. . For example, a non-aqueous solvent mainly composed of carbonates is preferably used because it can be reduced and decomposed on the negative electrode surface in the initial charging step (S30) described later to form a coating (SEI: Solid Electrolyte Interface) on the negative electrode active material surface. It is done. Among them, for example, EC having a high relative dielectric constant, DMC or EMC having a high standard oxidation potential (that is, having a wide potential window), and the like are preferably used.
Such an electrolytic solution may be a solid electrolyte (including a sol and a gel) obtained by adding a polymer to a liquid electrolyte.
Examples of the electrolyte include LiPF 6 , LiBF 4 , LiClO 4 , LiN (SO 2 CF 3 ) 2 , LiN (SO 2 C 2 F 5 ) 2 , LiCF 3 SO 3 , LiC 4 F 9 SO 3 , LiC (SO 2 CF 3 ) 3 , LiClO 4 and the like are exemplified. Of these, LiPF 6 is preferably used. The concentration of the electrolyte is not particularly limited, but if the concentration of the electrolyte is too low, the amount of lithium ions contained in the electrolytic solution tends to be insufficient, and the ionic conductivity tends to decrease. On the other hand, if the concentration of the supporting electrolyte is too high, the viscosity of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution becomes too high, and the ionic conductivity tends to decrease. For this reason, a nonaqueous electrolytic solution containing an electrolyte at a concentration of about 0.1 mol / L to 5 mol / L (preferably about 0.8 mol / L to 1.5 mol / L) is preferably used.
Furthermore, in the electrolyte solution used here, for example, an additive (specifically, vinylene carbonate (VC), fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC), etc.) that improves battery performance, or an overcharge inhibitor. (Herein, it refers to a compound that decomposes in an overcharged state and generates a large amount of gas. Typically, biphenyl (BP), cyclohexylbenzene (CHB), etc.) can be used as appropriate. It may be added.
<< Sealing process; S20 >>
Next, the inside of the hard case in which the electrode body and the electrolytic solution are accommodated is decompressed to a negative pressure state. Such a process can be, for example, a process of connecting a vacuum pump or the like to the opening of the hard case before sealing and sucking the gas (typically dry air or inert gas) in the case. By performing a vacuum process in the case where the pressure in the case is reduced to, for example, 60 kPa abs (typically, about 10 kPa abs to 60 kPa abs) by this evacuation process, the gas generated in the first charging process described later is discharged into the electrode body. Can be suitably discharged. Further, since the degree of decompression in the hard case is higher than the pressure of the generated gas, the expansion of the case can be suppressed. Therefore, the battery with stable quality can be manufactured.
In this specification, the degree of decompression (degree of decompression) refers to the absolute pressure when the absolute vacuum is 0 kPa (that is, the atmospheric pressure is 101.3 kPa), and the unit is used to distinguish it from the relative pressure. Indicated as “kPa abs”.
The preferable degree of pressure reduction in the evacuation process may vary depending on the amount of gas generated in the initial charging step (S30) described later. Factors affecting the amount of gas include, for example, the water content, the type of active material (positive electrode active material and / or negative electrode active material), the type of electrolyte, the shape of the electrode body, the shape of the hard case, and the like. It is done. In general, the closer the evacuation is to absolute vacuum (0 kPa abs), the shorter the time required for the leaving step (S40) described later. Such decompression may be performed at once, for example, may be performed stepwise in two or more steps.
Then, the hard case is sealed with the inside of the hard case at a negative pressure. In the manufacturing method disclosed herein, such sealing can be performed by a method similar to the method conventionally used for sealed lithium secondary batteries. For example, when a metal hard case is used, techniques such as laser welding, resistance welding, and electron beam welding can be used. In addition, when a non-metallic material (for example, a resin material) is used, a technique such as bonding with an adhesive or ultrasonic welding can be used.
In addition, this process is usually a clean room (dry room) or glove box that is maintained in an environment where the humidity is kept very low (dry environment, typically an environment with a dew point of -20 ° C or lower). It is done within. The dry environment is filled with an inert gas such as dry air or argon, for example. Thereby, the gas originating in a water | moisture content can be reduced among the gas generate | occur | produced in the first charge process (S30) mentioned later.
Moreover, although the operation | work which decompresses the inside of a hard case and the operation | work which seals this case were demonstrated separately above, you may perform these (pressure reduction and welding) as a series of operation.
≪First charging process; S30≫
Next, the battery after the sealing step is adjusted to a voltage higher than the voltage at which the electrode body generates gas in a state where pressure is applied in a predetermined direction to the electrode body in the case. In the initial charging step in the manufacturing method disclosed herein, a trace amount of water and a part of the electrolyte contained in the battery member are decomposed on the electrode surface to generate gas (for example, hydrogen (H 2 )), and the negative electrode A film (SEI: Solid Electrolyte Interface) is formed on the surface of the active material. Thereby, the interface between the negative electrode surface and the electrolytic solution is stabilized, and further decomposition of the electrolytic solution component can be prevented.
The potential to be adjusted may vary depending on, for example, the electrolytic solution used. However, if the potential is too high, battery characteristics may be adversely affected, such as promoting the decomposition reaction of the electrolytic solution. For example, the potential is 1 V or higher and does not exceed the voltage determined in the main charging step (S50) to be described later (typically 1 V to 3.5 V, for example, 2 V to 3.5 V, preferably 3 V to 3 .5V or less).
Such potential adjustment is performed with a constant current of about 1 / 10C to 10C (preferably about 1 / 10C to 5C, for example, about 1 / 10C to 2C) from the start of charging until the voltage between the positive and negative terminals reaches a predetermined value. It can be performed by constant current charging (CC charging). Alternatively, the battery is charged with a constant current of about 1 / 10C to 10C (preferably about 1 / 10C to 5C, for example, about 1 / 10C to 2C) until the voltage between the positive and negative terminals reaches a predetermined value from the start of charging. You may perform by the constant current constant voltage charge (CC-CV charge) charged with the voltage for the predetermined time. Further, the charging may be performed once, or two or more charging / discharging operations may be repeated. For example, in the embodiments described below, gas generation can be substantially completed by charging the battery at a constant current rate of 1 C for 10 minutes. By this step, the generation of gas in the subsequent charging step (for example, the main charging step (S50) described later) can be suppressed, so that a battery with stable quality can be manufactured. More preferably, the battery characteristics can be improved (for example, the energy density can be increased or the resistance can be reduced) due to less gas retention (remaining) in the electrode body.
The manufacturing method disclosed herein is characterized in that pressure is applied to the hard case (specifically, the electrode body in the case) in this step. By this pressurization, the generated gas can be prevented from staying in the electrode body and can be smoothly discharged out of the electrode body. For this reason, the time required for battery manufacture (for example, the leaving step (S40)) can be shortened compared to the conventional case, which is efficient. Furthermore, the swelling of the hard case due to the generation of gas can be suppressed by such pressurization.
The pressure applied to the hard case is not particularly limited, but if the applied pressure is extremely small, there is a possibility that the effect of applying the pressure cannot be obtained sufficiently. If the applied pressure is extremely large, the hard case will be deformed excessively, and voids (pores) in the electrode body (typically electrodes and / or separators) may be crushed, resulting in battery performance. There is a risk of adverse effects. For this reason, the pressure is, for example, 0.05 N / mm 2 or more and 10 N / mm 2 or less (typically 0.5 N / mm 2 or more and 4 N / mm 2 or less, preferably 0.5 N / mm 2 or more and 3 N / mm or less. 2 or less). When the pressure to be loaded is in the above range, the battery structure can be suitably maintained and manufactured efficiently.
The pressure load to the hard case can be performed using one or more of conventionally known methods. Such methods include, for example, a method in which the case is sandwiched between a pair of restraining plates and a restraining plate is tightened with bolts, a method using a restraining band, a method using a press machine such as an air press or a hydraulic press, Examples thereof include a method of using gravity such as loading a weight on the case. Note that an appropriate jig (for example, a restraining plate) is typically used when applying pressure. When the hard case has a rectangular parallelepiped shape, for example, as shown in Example 1 (FIG. 7A) described later, a method of applying pressure in a state where at least a pair of wide surfaces of the case is sandwiched between restraining plates is used. be able to. By using such a constraining plate, the hard case (specifically, the electrode body in the case) can be pressurized throughout, so that the gas staying in the electrode body can be smoothly discharged out of the electrode body. Can do.
Furthermore, as a more preferable pressurizing method, for example, as shown in Examples 2 and 3 (FIGS. 7B and 7C) to be described later, the electrode body is centered from the end portion in the direction orthogonal to the predetermined pressurizing direction. For example, pressure is applied so that a high pressure is applied to the portion. By effectively pressurizing the portion of the electrode body having a low surface pressure (for example, the central portion in the width direction of the electrode body), the gas in the electrode body is easily discharged out of the electrode body. For example, in the leaving step (S40) described later The time required can be shortened. Therefore, a battery having a stable quality can be manufactured efficiently. As a technique capable of realizing such pressurization, for example, pressurization of the battery using a constraining plate with a devised shape can be mentioned. Specifically, for example, as shown in an embodiment (FIG. 7) to be described later, a constraining
«Leaving step; S40»
Here, when the gas generated in the initial charging step (S30) is not immediately discharged out of the electrode body, it can be left for a predetermined time until the generated gas substantially escapes from the electrode body. In the manufacturing method disclosed herein, special equipment and operation (for example, opening the hard case or forcibly discharging the gas in the case) to discharge the gas accumulated in the electrode body This is convenient because it is only necessary to leave it. Moreover, since the gas generated on the electrode surface can be sufficiently discharged out of the electrode body by this process, the battery with stable quality can be manufactured.
Here, “until the generated gas substantially escapes from the electrode body” typically means a time during which about 90% or more of the generated gas escapes from the electrode body, and preferably about 95% of the gas. The above refers to the time for removal from the electrode body. However, the range of “substantially” includes slight differences that do not significantly affect the performance of the battery, such as 90% and 89%.
The time required for this step may vary depending on various conditions such as the degree of decompression in the sealing step (S20) and the amount of gas generated in the initial charging step (S30). Although it is possible to hold for a long time within a range that does not significantly affect the battery characteristics, it is preferable to finish in a shorter time from the viewpoint of production efficiency and the like, and this step is not substantially included (that is, More preferably, the standing time is unnecessary. In the manufacturing method disclosed here, since pressure is applied in a predetermined direction to the electrode body in the hard case in the initial charging step (S30), the time required for this step is greatly reduced. (Preferably, this step is not necessary) and is efficient. Note that this step may be performed while maintaining the pressure load on the hard case in the initial charging step. In such a case, the method of applying pressure to the hard case may be the same as the method in the initial charging step. A different method can be selected from the above methods. In addition, other operations (for example, irradiation with ultrasonic waves) that promote gas discharge may be used in combination as long as the battery characteristics are not significantly adversely affected.
≪This charging process; S50≫
Then, main charging is performed in which the battery after the leaving step is charged to a predetermined voltage. In this charging step, for example, charging is performed at a constant current of about 1/10 C to 10 C until the voltage between the positive and negative terminals reaches a predetermined value from the start of charging, and then charged at a constant voltage. CV charging). Here, the “predetermined voltage” refers to a voltage at which the battery is actually used, and is typically a voltage that is equal to or higher than the battery voltage in the initial charging step (S30) and that does not oxidize and decompose the electrolyte. It is as follows. More specifically, for example, in a battery having a configuration as in the examples described later, it is 3 V or higher (typically 3.5 V or higher, preferably 3.7 V or higher, more preferably 4.0 V or higher). And 4.5V or less (typically less than 4.5V, preferably 4.3V or less). The manufacturing method disclosed herein is characterized in that the inside of the hard case is not released to the atmosphere from the sealing step (S10) to the main charging step (S50). For this reason, the equipment for maintaining the dry environment is minimized, and the cost and maintenance required for maintaining such an environment can be greatly reduced. In addition, no special equipment or operation (for example, opening the hard case or forcibly exhausting the gas in the case) is required to discharge the gas accumulated in the electrode body. is there. Further, the work is simplified, and the defective product occurrence rate can be preferably suppressed.

A pair of end plates (restraint plates) 120 are arranged at both ends of the

EXAMPLES Hereinafter, although this invention is demonstrated concretely by a test example, it is not intending to limit this invention to what is shown to this test example.
In order to confirm the technical significance of the manufacturing method disclosed herein, a sealed lithium secondary battery is constructed, and the conditions in the initial charging process and the leaving process are changed, which is necessary for the appearance (state) and manufacturing of the battery. Time was compared.
<比較例1>
<Comparative Example 1>
First, LiNi 1/3 Co 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 powder as a positive electrode active material powder, acetylene black as a conductive material, and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF) as a binder are mass ratios of these materials Was mixed with N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) so that the NV was 91: 6: 3 and the NV value was 55% by mass to prepare a positive electrode mixture slurry. This slurry was applied to both sides of a long aluminum foil (positive electrode current collector) having a thickness of about 15 μm to form a positive electrode mixture layer, dried and pressed to obtain a sheet-like positive electrode (positive electrode sheet). .
Next, natural graphite as a negative electrode active material, styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) as a binder, and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as a dispersant have a mass ratio of 98: 1: 1 and NV. It mixed with ion-exchange water so that a value might be 50 mass%, and the aqueous negative mix slurry was prepared. This slurry was applied to both sides of a long copper foil (negative electrode current collector) having a thickness of about 10 μm to form a negative electrode mixture layer, dried and pressed to obtain a sheet-like negative electrode (negative electrode sheet). .
The positive electrode sheet and the negative electrode sheet produced above are wound with being overlapped via two separators (here, a porous polyethylene sheet (PE) is used), and crushed into a flat shape, thereby winding the wound electrode body. Was made. Such an electrode body is mixed with a nonaqueous electrolytic solution (here, a mixed solvent containing ethylene carbonate (EC), dimethyl carbonate (DMC), and dimethyl carbonate (EMC) at a volume ratio of 3: 4: 3, and LiPF 6 as an electrolyte. Was used in a rectangular parallelepiped hard case (
Then, with the inside of the hard case evacuated to a negative pressure (16 kPa abs in this case), a lid is attached to the opening of the case, and laser-welded to join the sealed lithium secondary A battery was built.
Next, in a state where no pressure was applied to the constructed battery, constant current charging was performed at a rate of 1C for 10 minutes at 25 ° C. (initial charging process), and then the battery was left for a certain period of time (leaving process). Here, in order to examine a suitable leaving time, a plurality of the batteries constructed as described above, in which only the leaving time was changed, were produced. Then, after elapse of a predetermined standing time, each battery was charged with a constant current up to 4.1 V at a charging rate of 1 C (main charging step). Thereby, a battery according to Comparative Example 1 was produced.
<実施例1>

<Example 2>
As shown in FIG. 7B, the second embodiment of the present invention is the same as the first embodiment except that the second constraining plate is a constraining
<実施例3>
<Example 3>
As shown in FIG. 7 (C), as the second restraining plate, the surface in contact with the hard case has a continuous arc shape from the end portion in the long side direction to the center portion, and the end portion in the long side direction and the center A battery according to Example 3 was fabricated in the same procedure as in Example 1 except that the
Table 1 below summarizes the conditions of the first charging step of Comparative Example 1 and Examples 1 to 3 described above. In addition, the number described in the column of a restraint board has described the code | symbol in FIG.
First, the external shape of the produced sealed lithium secondary battery was observed. In the battery of Comparative Example 1, the thickness of the hard case was increased as a whole in the battery after the main charge, that is, the swelling of the case was large, whereas the batteries of Examples 1 and 2 were compared with the case of Comparative Example 1. The swelling of the central part was suppressed. Moreover, about the battery of Example 3, although the swelling was not seen by the case center part, the swelling slightly was confirmed by the edge part of the case.
Next, the battery was disassembled and the negative electrode surface was observed. Here, color unevenness observed on the electrode surface was observed, and a suitable leaving time in the leaving step was examined. That is, when color unevenness was observed on the electrode surface, the main charge was performed without sufficient discharge of the gas retained in the electrode body (i.e., because the electrode had been in contact with the retained gas for a long time. It was considered that there was unevenness (that is, a portion where the charging time was long and a portion where the charging time was short), and it was determined that the leaving time was insufficient. The minimum standing time in which color unevenness was not confirmed on the electrode surface is shown in the corresponding column of Table 1 below as a suitable leaving time in this example.
From the observation of the appearance of the battery and the results shown in Table 1, the comparative example in which no pressure was applied in the initial charging step required a longer time in the leaving step than in the example. On the other hand, in the example in which pressure was applied to the battery in the initial charging step, the leaving step was completed in less than half the time of the comparative example. Therefore, the pressurization in the first charging step can suppress the generated gas from staying in the electrode body and promote the discharge of the gas in the electrode surface and / or the electrode mixture layer to the outside of the electrode body. I understood it. From the above results, according to the manufacturing method shown here, the time required for manufacturing the battery (typically, the leaving step) can be significantly shortened compared to the conventional method. It has been shown that it can be produced efficiently.
Further, when the time required for the leaving step was compared in Examples 1 to 3, the required time was shorter in Example 2 using the R-processed
From the above results, it was suggested that by further improving the shape of the restraint plate, the bulge shape of the battery can be controlled and the time required for the leaving step can be further shortened.
