Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting diode device.
Generally, a light emitting diode emits light, and the temperature of the light emitting diode itself increases. A light-emitting element module that limits the current applied to the light-emitting diode is known in order to prevent the temperature rise from causing damage beyond a predetermined temperature (Patent Document 1). This light emitting element module includes a thermistor thin film in which heat of the light emitting diode is transmitted via a heat sink. The thermistor thin film can accurately and sensitively detect a change in temperature due to heat generated when the light emitting diode is driven, and outputs a detection signal to a temperature control unit included in the light emitting element module. The temperature control unit holds the light emitting diode at a predetermined constant temperature according to the detection signal input from the thermistor thin film.
However, in the light emitting diode device described in Patent Document 1, it is necessary to separately provide a circuit such as a temperature control unit, which is a factor of increasing the complexity and size of the device.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode device capable of applying an appropriate current according to the temperature of the light emitting diode without separately providing a temperature control circuit such as the temperature control unit. .
The light-emitting diode device of the present invention includes a light-emitting diode, a thermistor whose resistance value decreases nonlinearly as the temperature of the light-emitting diode rises, and a resistance for linearizing the resistance-change characteristic according to the temperature of the thermistor And a substrate on which the light emitting diode, thermistor, and resistor are disposed. The light emitting diode, the thermistor, and the resistor are connected in parallel to the power source, and the thermistor has the same temperature as the temperature of the light emitting diode. The resistance value of the resistor is set to several to several tens of times the resistance value of the light emitting diode, and the resistance of the thermistor before the heat is generated by applying current from the power source to the light emitting diode It is characterized by being set to a fraction of the value.
According to the present invention, the thermistor whose resistance value decreases as the temperature rises is arranged to be the same temperature as the light emitting diode temperature. Therefore, when the temperature rises as the light emitting diode emits light, the thermistor resistance value Decrease.
Further, since the resistor linearizes the change characteristic of the resistance value with respect to the temperature of the thermistor, the combined resistance value of the thermistor and the resistor decreases linearly as the temperature of the light emitting diode increases. Since the light-emitting diode, thermistor, and resistor are connected in parallel to the power supply, the combined resistance of the thermistor and the resistor to the resistance value of the light-emitting diode after the rise, compared to before the temperature of the light-emitting diode rises The percentage of values increases. For this reason, when the temperature of the light emitting diode rises, the current applied to the light emitting diode decreases compared to before the rise. Therefore, when the temperature of the light emitting diode rises, the current applied to the light emitting diode is reduced, so that further heat generation of the light emitting diode is suppressed.
The resistance value of the resistor is set to be a fraction of the resistance value of the thermistor before heat is generated by applying current from the power supply to the light emitting diode. Since each element of the light emitting diode, the thermistor, and the resistor is connected in parallel, the current applied to each element is inversely proportional to the resistance value of each element. Therefore, before the light emitting diode generates heat, the current applied to the thermistor decreases, and the current applied to the light emitting diode increases accordingly.
In addition, since the resistance value of the resistor is set to several to several tens of times the resistance value of the light emitting diode, the resistance value of the thermistor decreases when the light emitting diode generates heat and the temperature of the thermistor increases. Even so, it is possible to prevent a current that is so large as to damage the light emitting diode.
Thus, before the temperature of the light emitting diode rises, a current that can cause the light emitting diode to sufficiently emit light is applied, and after the temperature of the light emitting diode rises, the current applied to the light emitting diode decreases to emit light. The heat generation of the diode can be suppressed, and the light emitting diode can be prevented from being damaged. Therefore, an appropriate current can be applied according to the temperature of the light emitting diode without separately providing a circuit such as the above-described temperature control unit.
Here, the same temperature does not need to be exactly the same temperature, and there may be a difference that can suppress damage to the light emitting diode due to heat generation.
In the present invention, the thermistor is preferably disposed in the vicinity of the light emitting diode, or is disposed through a member that transfers heat of the light emitting diode to the thermistor. The temperature difference between the thermistor and the light-emitting diode can be reduced by arranging the thermistor close to the light-emitting diode or by arranging the thermistor via a member that transmits heat of the light-emitting diode to the thermistor.
In the present invention, the resistor is preferably composed of a resistance portion and a connection portion, and a heat insulating space is preferably provided between the resistance portion and the substrate. Thereby, the heat of the light emitting diode is hardly transmitted to the resistor, and the resistance value of the resistor is hardly changed due to a temperature change. For this reason, the error between the theoretical value and the actual value of the combined resistance value of the thermistor and the resistor can be reduced.
With reference to FIGS. 1-6, the structure of the light-emitting-diode apparatus of embodiment of this invention is demonstrated.
The light emitting diode device 1 according to the present embodiment includes a
As the
The
The
The
The
The
Cavities (spaces) 52a, 52b, and 53a are formed in the
The
Further,
A heat radiating via 51a is also provided on the lower surface of the
Molybdenum, tungsten, or the like filled in the heat dissipation via 51a of this embodiment corresponds to “a member that transmits heat of the light emitting diode to the thermistor” in the present invention. In the present embodiment, the
The
The
As shown in FIG. 5, the
A voltage is applied to the power supply via a constant voltage circuit (not shown), and the voltage at this time is set to 13.5 [V].
As shown in FIG. 6A, the change of the resistance value RT with respect to the temperature change of the
In this case, since the temperature range in which the luminance of the
Here, the horizontal axis of FIG. 6B indicates the temperature T, and the vertical axis indicates the combined resistance value RTR of the
Since the change in the combined resistance value RTR of the
Note that the resistance value Rr of the
The resistance value Rr of the
Since each element of the
Further, even when the resistance value RT (5 [Ω]) of the
As described above, in the light emitting diode device 1 according to the present embodiment, before the temperature of the
Further, in the light emitting diode device 1 of the present embodiment, the
Moreover, in the light emitting diode device 1 of the present embodiment, a space is provided between the
In the present embodiment, the multilayer substrate is formed of a ceramic substrate, but is not limited thereto, and may be formed of a glass epoxy substrate. In this case, in order to make the temperature of the
In this embodiment, a constant voltage circuit is used to apply a current to the
In the present embodiment, the resistance values of the
Further, in the present embodiment, a discrete type resistor is used in which the
Further, the substrate need not be a laminated structure like the
Specifically, the
Further, the
