Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic bonding device which increases bonding strength of an object to be bonded compared to conventional devices.SOLUTION: A ultrasonic device 10 is provided which includes a receiving section having a projection pattern block 31 and an ultrasonic vibration section 20 having a horn 21. The object to be bonded is welded by heat generated by friction due to ultrasonic vibration of the horn 21, while moving the projection pattern block 31 and the object to be bonded in the direction intersecting the vibration direction of the horn 21, with an object to be bonded interposed between the projection pattern block 31 and the horn 21. The projection pattern block 31 extends in the direction perpendicular to its moving direction. The shape of the horn 21 is such that the area of the horn 21 facing the projection pattern block 31 changes in accordance with the movement of the projection pattern block 31 along the extending direction of the projection pattern block 31.

Description

The present invention relates to an ultrasonic bonding apparatus. The present invention also relates to a method for joining a web using the joining device and a method for producing a pants-type wearing article.

A pants-type wearing article such as a pants-type disposable diaper or a pants-type sanitary shorts generally has a crotch portion and a ventral portion and a dorsal portion extending forward and backward from the crotch portion. The left and right side portions of the ventral side portion and the left and right side portions of the back side portion are joined to each other, and a side seal portion extending in the longitudinal direction of the article is formed. Due to the formation of the side seal portion, a pair of leg openings and a waist opening are formed in the wearing article. When taking off the wearing article, the side seal portion is torn in the vertical direction to separate the ventral portion from the back portion. Therefore, the side seal portion is required to have a high bonding strength that does not cause tearing during wearing of the worn article and a low bonding strength that facilitates tearing when the worn article is removed. Moreover, since a side seal part is a site | part which is easy to contact a wearer's skin during the wearing of a wear article, it is also requested | required that a texture should be favorable.

Regarding the formation of the side seal part of the pants-type wearing article, for example, a technique described in Patent Document 1 is known. In this document, the side seal portion is formed using an ultrasonic fusion device 40 having an ultrasonic horn 42 and an anvil drum 43. An anvil 44 inclined with respect to the shaft 50 of the drum 43 is disposed on the peripheral surface of the anvil drum 43. On the other hand, the ultrasonic horn 42 is arranged in parallel with the shaft 50 of the drum 43. By arranging the ultrasonic horn 42 and the anvil 44 in such a positional relationship, the pressing area becomes smaller than when both are arranged in a parallel positional relationship, and the horn 42 and the fusion device 40 can be downsized. And the same document.

Patent Document 2 also describes an ultrasonic sealing device having the same configuration as Patent Document 1. In this sealing device, seal patterns 17 a and 17 b are provided on the surface of the rotating body 15 having the anvil 16. The seal patterns 17a and 17b are inclined with respect to the center line O3 of the rotating body 15. On the other hand, the seal facing surface 48a of the ultrasonic horn 48 is parallel to the center line O3.

When the side seal part of the pants-type wearing article is formed using the devices described in Patent Documents 1 and 2, the anvil 44 (Patent Document 1) and the seal patterns 17a and 17b (Patent Document 2) are inclined. And a side seal part will be formed in the direction which inclines with respect to the longitudinal direction of a wearing article. When the side seal part is formed in a direction inclined with respect to the longitudinal direction of the wearing article, the contact line that comes into contact with the wearer's skin becomes small (that is, comes into partial contact), and due to the elastic body, etc. The tightening stress on the wearer is concentrated, which causes discomfort to the wearer.

Therefore, the subject of this invention is providing the ultrasonic bonding apparatus which can eliminate the fault which the prior art mentioned above has, the sealing method using the same, and the manufacturing method of disposable wearing articles.

According to the ultrasonic bonding apparatus of the present invention, the area where the ultrasonic horn presses the pattern block is smaller than when the ultrasonic horn and the pattern block are arranged in parallel. As a result, the applied pressure is increased, and the bonding strength can be increased as compared with the case where the ultrasonic horn and the pattern block are arranged in parallel.

The present invention will be described below based on preferred embodiments with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 schematically shows the appearance of the ultrasonic bonding apparatus of the present invention. The apparatus 10 shown in the figure includes an ultrasonic vibration unit 20 and an anvil roll 30 as main parts. Between the ultrasonic vibration unit 20 and the anvil roll 30, two webs 41 and 42, which are objects to be joined, are interposed. The webs 41 and 42 are in the form of long strips fed from a feed roll (not shown). The joining apparatus 10 applies ultrasonic vibrations to both the webs 41 and 42 and melts and welds both the webs 41 and 42 with heat generated by the friction.

The ultrasonic vibration unit 20 includes an ultrasonic horn 21 whose cross-sectional shape is an elongated rectangular shape. The extending direction of the long side of the rectangle is a direction substantially orthogonal to the rotation direction of the anvil roll 30. The ultrasonic horn 21 is connected to the booster 22 at the upper part thereof. The booster 22 is connected to the vibrator 23 at the upper part thereof. The vibrator 23 is electrically connected to an ultrasonic transmitter (not shown). The booster 22 is for amplifying the ultrasonic vibration generated by the vibrator 23. The ultrasonic vibration amplified by the booster 22 is further amplified by the ultrasonic horn 21.

The operating conditions such as the frequency and amplitude of the ultrasonic horn 21 can be appropriately set according to the material and thickness of the two webs 41 and 42 which are the objects to be joined. As operating conditions in the case where the joining apparatus 10 is used for manufacturing, for example, a pant-type diaper described later, a frequency of 20 to 40 kHz and an amplitude of 10 to 100 μm can be set.

The anvil roll 30 has a pattern block 31 on its peripheral surface 30a. The pattern block 31 may be a separate member that can be attached to and detached from the main body of the anvil roll 30, or may be formed by cutting and integrated with the main body of the anvil roll 30.

The anvil roll 30 has a height difference between the pattern block 31 and a portion other than the pattern block 31, that is, the peripheral surface 30 a of the anvil roll 30. That is, the pattern block 31 protrudes from the peripheral surface 30 a of the anvil roll 30. The pattern block 31 extends in the roll axis direction of the anvil roll 30 and forms a protrusion. Two protrusion pattern blocks 31 are provided on the peripheral surface 30 a of the anvil roll 30. The two ridge pattern blocks 31 are provided at positions 180 degrees symmetrical with respect to the center of the anvil roll 30. However, the number of the pattern blocks 31 provided and the positions where the pattern blocks 31 are arranged are not limited to this. Although the two pattern blocks 31 have the same shape, the shape of each pattern block may be different depending on the object to be joined. The extending direction of the pattern block 31 is parallel to the roll axis of the anvil roll 30. The upper surface of the pattern block 31 has a minute uneven shape (see FIG. 2 described later) or is flat.

The ultrasonic horn 21 of the ultrasonic vibration unit 20 described above is disposed to face the peripheral surface 30 a of the anvil roll 30. In this case, the width direction of the ultrasonic horn 21 (the direction orthogonal to the paper surface in FIG. 1) faces the roll axis direction of the anvil roll 30. However, the width direction of the ultrasonic horn 21 is not parallel to the roll axis direction of the anvil roll 30 (this will be described later).

The ultrasonic vibration unit 20 and the anvil roll 30 are arranged in a positional relationship such that a predetermined clearance is generated between the lower surface of the ultrasonic horn 21 and the upper surface of the pattern block 31.

The anvil roll 30 rotates in the direction indicated by the arrow in FIG. On the other hand, the ultrasonic vibration part 20 is in a fixed state with respect to the rotation direction or tangential direction of the anvil roll 30. However, in the ultrasonic vibration unit 20, the ultrasonic horn 21 reciprocates (vibrates) in the normal direction of the anvil roll 30.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing a main part of the ultrasonic bonding apparatus 10 shown in FIG. As shown in the figure, in the anvil roll 30, the pattern block 31 is provided in parallel with the roll axis direction D. On the other hand, the ultrasonic horn 21 is arranged such that the width direction W thereof is slightly inclined with respect to the direction in which the pattern block 31 extends, that is, the roll axis direction D of the anvil roll 30. As described above, the ultrasonic horn 21 is inclined with respect to the pattern block 31, and the joining is performed in a state where the two intersect each other at a predetermined angle. However, they are not orthogonal. That is, the ultrasonic horn 21 and the pattern block 31 intersect at an angle of more than 0 degree and less than 90 degrees.

3A to 3C are plan views of the positional relationship between the ultrasonic horn 21 and the pattern block 31 while the ultrasonic bonding is in progress. In the figure, illustration of the first web and the second web, which are objects to be joined, is omitted. As shown in the figure, the ultrasonic horn 21 is inclined with a predetermined angle θ in the width direction W with respect to the axis D of the pattern block 31 moving in the direction indicated by the arrow R in the figure. Therefore, as shown in FIGS. 3A to 3C sequentially, the ultrasonic horn 21 overlaps the pattern block 31 while maintaining the angle θ as the movement of the pattern block 31 proceeds. As a result, as the pattern block 31 moves, the facing area between the pattern block 31 and the ultrasonic horn 21 gradually increases along the direction in which the pattern block 31 extends, and then decreases. That is, compared with the case where ultrasonic bonding is performed in a state where the ultrasonic horn 21 and the pattern block 31 are arranged in parallel, according to the present embodiment, the ultrasonic horn 21 is interposed via the first web and the second web. The area where the pattern block 31 is pressed can be reduced. By the way, it is known that the welding energy applied to the objects to be joined when performing ultrasonic joining is proportional to the product of amplitude, pressing force, and pressing time. Therefore, if the amplitude and the pressing time are the same, the welding energy can be increased as the pressing force is higher. That is, the welding energy of the ultrasonic horn 21 is applied to the first and second webs that are the objects to be joined without being dispersed. As a result, according to the present embodiment, the bonding strength of both webs can be further increased as compared with the case where ultrasonic bonding is performed in a state where the ultrasonic horn 21 and the pattern block 31 are arranged in parallel.

In addition, according to the present embodiment, the extending direction of the pattern block 31 is orthogonal to the traveling direction of the both webs 41 and 42, and therefore, unlike the techniques described in Patent Documents 1 and 2 described in the background section, A joining line formed by joining can be formed so as to be orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of both webs 41 and 42.

As described above, according to the present embodiment, the ultrasonic horn 21 is disposed so that the extending direction thereof is inclined with respect to the extending direction of the pattern block 31, and the pattern block 31 is moved along with the movement of the pattern block 31. The opposed area between the ultrasonic horn 21 and the ultrasonic horn 21 is changed (that is, gradually increases and then gradually decreases).

From the viewpoint of further increasing the bonding strength between both webs, the angle θ formed by the width direction W of the ultrasonic horn 21 and the direction D in which the pattern block 31 extends is preferably 1 to 45 degrees, particularly 1 to 10 degrees.

From the viewpoint of surely joining the first web and the second web by the ultrasonic horn 21 and the pattern block 31, when the length of the pattern block 31 is L 1, the super direction in the direction intersecting the moving direction of the pattern block 31 is The length L2 of the sonic horn 21 is preferably not less than L1 / cos θ (θ represents the angle formed by the width direction W of the ultrasonic horn 21 and the extending direction D of the pattern block 31). That is, the length of the ultrasonic horn 21 in the direction orthogonal to the moving direction of the pattern block 31 is the same as or longer than the length of the joining line formed by welding.

In the bonding method using the ultrasonic bonding apparatus 10 of the present embodiment, the ultrasonic vibration unit 20 and the anvil are rotated while the anvil roll 30 is rotated and the ultrasonic vibration unit 20 is continuously operated. The first web 41 and the second web 42 are run between the rolls. The webs 41 and 42 are ultrasonically bonded only when they are sandwiched between the ultrasonic horn 21 of the ultrasonic vibration unit 20 and the pattern block 31 of the anvil roll 30. Therefore, both the webs 41 and 42 are intermittently joined at a predetermined interval in their running direction. During the joining, the first web 41 and the second web 42 continue to run. The joining pattern formed by welding the webs 41 and 42 is a shape in which the ultrasonic horn 21 and the pattern block 31 are in contact with each other.

In order to ensure the joining of both webs 41 and 42, at least one of the first web 41 and the second web 42 may be preheated before joining by the ultrasonic joining apparatus 10. As the preheating method, for example, blowing hot air on the web, irradiating with infrared rays, or holding the web on a heated roll can be used.

Depending on the type of the first web 41 and / or the second web 42 and the purpose of joining, the pattern blocks 31 of the anvil roll 30 may have different heights along the extending direction. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, the height of the central area 32 of the pattern block 31 in the roll axis direction D can be made higher than that of the side area 33. By configuring the pattern block 31 in this way, the pressing force on the first and second webs 41 and 42 can be varied in the extending direction of the pattern block 31, and the bonding strength can be controlled.

The first web and the second web, which are objects to be joined using the ultrasonic joining apparatus 10 of the present embodiment, include materials that melt by heat generated by friction caused by ultrasonic vibration and can be welded. Is used. Examples thereof include films containing various thermoplastic resins, nonwoven fabrics, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, and composite materials thereof. The first web and the second web may be single-layered or multilayered. When a multilayer web is used, it is sufficient that a material made of a thermoplastic resin exists on the opposing surfaces of the webs, and other layers may not be weldable layers. The first web and the second web in this embodiment are both long, but instead of this, a leaf-by-leaf web may be used.

The above description is for the case where the bonding apparatus of the present invention is used for bonding a single layer or a multilayer web, but the bonding apparatus of the present invention can also be applied to bonding of other materials. As such an application object, joining of the structural member of this article | item in manufacture of an underpants type wearing article is mentioned, for example. Then, the example which applied the joining apparatus of this invention to manufacture of the underpants type disposable diaper which is a kind of underpants type wearing article below is demonstrated.

A pants-type disposable diaper generally has a crotch part and a ventral part and a dorsal part extending back and forth from the crotch part. And the abdominal side part and the back side part are joined in those both sides, and form the side seal part. Due to the formation of the side seal portion, a pair of leg openings and a waist opening are formed in the wearing article. FIG. 5 schematically shows a manufacturing process of such a pants-type disposable diaper. The manufacturing process of the diaper shown in the figure is a so-called cross-flow type, and using the joining device 10 described above, a sheet-like diaper continuum 60 ′ (between the ultrasonic vibrator 20 and the anvil roll 30 ( An intermediate product continuous body of pants-type disposable diapers), and a side seal portion 64 is formed on the continuous body 60 '.

In detail, the manufacturing method of the diaper of this embodiment is 1) the formation process of the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61, and 2) the arrangement process of the absorbent main body which arranges the absorbent main body 62 in the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61. 3) Leg opening forming step for forming the leg opening 63 in the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61, 4) Folding process of the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61 and the absorbent main body 62, and 5) The outer packaging material 61 and the absorbent. A continuous body of diapers (intermediate product of underpants-type disposable diapers) 60 'in which the main body 62 is folded in two is joined by a joining device 10 (not shown in FIG. 5) at a predetermined interval in the length direction. A step of forming a pair of side seal portions 64, and 6) a separation step of cutting the continuum 60 ′ by the cutting means (not shown) at the side seal portions 64 and separating the diapers 60 into individual diapers 60. ing.

In the step of forming the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61, the belt-shaped outer layer sheet 61A and the belt-shaped inner layer sheet 61B arranged on the skin side are joined to form a continuous body of the outer packaging material 61. In the present embodiment, when these sheets are joined together, the waist elastic member 61C and the leg elastic member 61D are also supplied between these sheets and joined in an extended state between them. Specifically, before the two sheets 61A and 61B are overlapped, adhesion for fixing the waist elastic member 61C and the leg elastic member 61D to a predetermined part of one or both of the two sheets facing each other. An agent is applied in advance, and both belt-like sheets are clamped by nip rolls with these elastic members sandwiched in an expanded state. The waist elastic member 61C is supplied to both side portions of the outer packaging material 61 so as to be positioned at the waist portion of the diaper, and is bonded and fixed with an adhesive. The leg elastic member 61D is supplied in accordance with the shape of the leg opening 63 and the crotch part to be formed later, and is joined and fixed with an adhesive. The leg elastic member 61D is introduced between the belt-like sheets 61A and 61B while being swung by a known rocking guide (not shown) in a direction orthogonal to the flow direction of the outer layer sheet 61A and the inner layer sheet 61B. Moreover, both the sheets 61A and 61B are joined to each other at a predetermined site by joining means such as various seals such as heat seal processing or an adhesive.

In the arrangement process of the absorbent main body 62, the absorbent main body 62, which is separately manufactured and previously coated with an adhesive such as a hot melt adhesive, is rotated 90 degrees and intermittently placed on the inner layer sheet 61B of the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61. Supplied and fixed. The absorbent main body 62 includes a liquid-permeable top sheet, a liquid-impermeable or water-repellent back sheet, and a liquid-retaining absorbent disposed between the two sheets, and has a substantially vertically long form. have.

In the leg opening forming step, the leg opening 63 is formed inside the annular portion of the leg elastic member 61D in the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61 in which the absorbent main body 62 is disposed. For the formation of the leg opening 63, a technique similar to the technique in the conventional manufacturing method of this type of article such as a rotary cutter or a laser cutter is employed. The leg opening can be formed before the absorbent main body 62 is arranged. Through the steps so far, the pant-type diaper is opened at the side seal portion, and a long diaper intermediate body is formed in which the unfolded body in a state of being unfolded in a plane is connected in the diaper width direction.

In the folding step, both side edges of the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61 are folded in advance so as to be folded at both ends in the length direction of the waist elastic member 61C and the absorbent main body 62, and then the above-mentioned long diaper intermediate body That is, the continuous body of the outer packaging material 61 and the absorbent main body 62 are folded in two along the traveling direction. Thereby, the site | part which should become a ventral part and the site | part which should become a dorsal part in the target underpants type diaper opposes the ventral part plan part and the dorsal part plan part.

In the step of forming the side seal portion 64, the abdomen side planned portion and the back side planned portion in the opposite state are ultrasonically bonded to each other at a planned bonding portion using an ultrasonic bonding apparatus (not shown). Seal portions 64 are sequentially formed at a predetermined interval. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 5, a diaper continuous body 60 ′ composed of a continuous body of an outer packaging material 61 folded together with an absorbent main body 62 is subjected to ultrasonic vibration in an ultrasonic bonding apparatus (not shown). Ultrasonic bonding is performed by being supplied between the unit 20 and the anvil roll and sandwiched between the ultrasonic horn 21 and the pattern block 31 and pressed. As a result, as shown in FIG. 6, a pair of side seal portions 64 are sequentially formed at predetermined intervals on the outer packaging material 61 (outer layer sheet 61A and inner layer sheet 61B) of the diaper continuous body 60 '.

In order to form one side seal part 64, the anvil roll 30 of the joining apparatus used for the manufacturing method shown in FIG. 5 uses the pattern block shown in FIG. The pattern block shown in the figure is composed of two patterns, a first pattern block 31a and a second pattern block 31b. These pattern blocks 31a and 31b both extend in the roll axis direction D and are arranged in parallel. In forming the side seal portion 64, the ultrasonic horn 21 shown in FIG. 7 passes over the two pattern blocks 31a and 31b, thereby forming a pair of side seal portions 64 corresponding to the pattern blocks 31a and 31b. Is done. Also in this bonding apparatus, as the pattern blocks 31a and 31b move, the facing area between the pattern blocks 31a and 31b and the ultrasonic horn 21 changes along the extending direction of the pattern blocks 31a and 31b.

In the formation of the side seal portion 64, the length of the line contact between the pattern blocks 31a and 31b and the ultrasonic horn 21 at the end in the roll axis direction D shown in FIG. 7 is short, and as a result, the pressing force increases. The bonding strength is higher than that of the other portions of the side seal portion 64. Achieving such bonding strength is preferable as a side seal part of a pants-type disposable diaper.

The diaper continuous body 60 ′ is not uniform in thickness, and the thickness of the portion where the absorbent main body 62 exists is the largest. Therefore, in the formation of the side seal portion 64 using the joining device, the diaper continuum 60 ′ is interposed between the pattern blocks 31 a and 31 b and the ultrasonic horn 21 in order to perform the formation successfully. In the state, it is necessary to prevent the influence of the portion of the absorbent main body 62 that is the portion having the largest thickness. For this purpose, it is advantageous to use the anvil roll 30 having a recess in the peripheral surface other than the pattern blocks 31a and 31b. By carrying out like this, the part of the absorptive main body 62 can be accommodated in this recessed part. As a result, the clearance between the pattern blocks 31a and 31b and the ultrasonic horn 21 is not affected by the absorbent main body 62, and the side seal portion 64 can be successfully formed.

In the separation step, the diaper continuous body 60 ′ formed in the side seal portion forming step is cut between the pair of side seal portions 64 (indicated by reference numeral C in FIG. 6) and separated into individual diapers 60. Is done. For the separation of the diaper 60, a method similar to the method in the manufacturing method of this type of article is conventionally employed. In the pants-type disposable diaper 60 formed in this way, the side seal portion 64 is formed in parallel with the vertical direction of the diaper 60.

As mentioned above, although this invention was demonstrated based on the preferable embodiment, this invention is not restrict | limited to the said embodiment. For example, in the above-described embodiment, the manufacture of the pants-type disposable diaper is given as an example of the manufacture to which the ultrasonic bonding apparatus of the present invention is applied, but the ultrasonic bonding apparatus of the present invention includes other pants-type wearing articles, For example, it can be suitably applied to the production of pant-type absorbent articles such as pant-type sanitary napkins and pant-type incontinence pads, sanitary shorts, disposable underwear, etc. that do not have an absorbent main body or absorber.

In the above-described embodiment, the pattern block 31 is formed on the anvil roll, that is, the peripheral surface of the rotating body. However, the pattern block 31 may be provided on a receiving member that performs a motion other than rotation instead. For example, you may provide in the receiving member which carries out the revolving motion including the process of linear motion.

Further, in the above-described embodiment, the rectangular ultrasonic horn 21 having an elongated cross section is arranged so that the extending direction of the rectangle is inclined with respect to the extending direction of the pattern block 31. You may use the ultrasonic horn which has. For example, as an ultrasonic horn, as shown in FIG. 8, a cross-sectional shape having a rhombus shape can be used. When this horn is used, the horn may be arranged so that the diagonal line in the rhombus coincides with the direction in which the pattern block 31 extends. As a result, as the pattern block moves, the opposing area between the pattern block and the horn changes (increases gradually and then gradually decreases) along the direction in which the pattern block extends.

Moreover, in the joining apparatus of the said embodiment, although the ultrasonic vibration part 20 was a fixed state with respect to the rotation direction thru | or a tangential direction of the anvil roll 30, it describes instead, for example in the term of background art. The reciprocating means described in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 of Patent Document 2 may be used to allow the ultrasonic vibration unit 20 to reciprocate along a circumferential locus along the circumferential direction of the anvil roll 30.
