Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a backlight device of a liquid crystal display device, and more particularly to a backlight device of a liquid crystal display device provided with a cooling device for a backlight light source.
A backlight device in which a plurality of primary light sources for generating backlight light to be supplied to a liquid crystal panel are arranged on the left and right ends or upper and lower ends, and a light emitting diode (LED) is used as the primary light source. It has been known.
The cooling of the primary light source, which has a larger amount of light emission and increased heat generation due to the larger screen, requires the enlargement of the heat sink to increase the heat dissipation performance in the configuration of
In
In a liquid crystal display device provided with a liquid crystal panel, the size has been increased and the brightness has been improved for improving the image quality. Recently, however, it has become necessary to make the display brighter for 3D display. Yes. For this reason, it is required to increase the number of primary light sources and to increase the luminance by applying higher electric power to the primary light sources, and the amount of heat generation is further increased.
The amount of heat released from the heat radiating surface is generally proportional to ((the fourth power of the temperature of the heat radiating surface) − (the fourth power of the ambient temperature)) or the surface area. However,
In addition, in

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. First, a liquid crystal display device to which an embodiment of the present invention is applied will be described with reference to FIGS.
FIG. 1 is an external view from the front side of a liquid
FIG. 2 is an exploded view seen from the back side of the liquid
As shown in FIG. 2, the liquid
As will be described later, the liquid crystal
3 and the subsequent drawings used in the following description include many elevations showing the backlight device included in the liquid crystal
FIG. 3 is an elevation view of the backlight device according to the first embodiment.
As an example, a plurality of
As described above, higher brightness of the primary
The cooling device for the backlight device shown in FIG. 3 includes one or more
The arrows in the figure indicate the direction in which the coolant flows. The coolant pushed out from the
The
The heat of the primary
Needless to say, the positions of the
Next, details of the embodiment of FIG. 3 will be described in more detail with reference to FIGS.
FIG. 4 is a first example of a cross-sectional view of the backlight device according to the embodiment. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a cross section in the left-right direction at a position including the primary
Such a backlight device is located on the back side of the liquid
On the other hand, the heat generated by the primary
For this reason, the cooling effect of a backlight apparatus can be improved. Furthermore, when the end portion and the center portion of the
Further, when the
In addition, in order to increase the area of the radiating
4 shows that the heat generated by the primary
In FIG. 4, the primary
Here, the
The light
FIG. 5 is a second example of a cross-sectional view of the backlight device according to the embodiment. Unlike FIG. 4, since the direction of the primary
Further, in FIG. 5, when the light from the
FIG. 6 is a third example of a cross-sectional view of the backlight device according to the embodiment. FIG. 4 shows a case where the

In general, the larger the contact area between the
In FIG. 7, a flat flat tube is shown as the

The effect of applying the embodiment shown in FIGS. 7 to 11 to the embodiment shown in FIG. 3 is not only the improvement of the cooling efficiency by effectively using the

It is obvious that each of the embodiments so far has the same effect as the embodiment shown in FIG. In FIG. 17, the primary light source on the right side of the center transmits light mainly toward the left side, and the primary light source on the left side of the center mainly transmits light toward the right side, but this is not a limitation of the present embodiment. . For example, both may send light only to the left side or to the right side. In FIG. 18, the situation is the same. For example, both of them may send light toward the upper side only or toward the lower side.

FIG. 20 is a schematic view showing another example of the backlight device according to the eighth embodiment, and shows the periphery of the right end portion thereof. Unlike FIG. 19, the same action may be realized by putting a restriction on the
FIG. 21 is an elevation view of the backlight device according to the ninth embodiment, and shows an example in which a plurality of
Similarly, two pumps are used even in the second embodiment (FIG. 13) in which the light source rows arranged one above the other are either left or right, or in the sixth embodiment (FIG. 17) in which there are a plurality of rows. The cooling performance may be improved by providing the above.

Similarly, the fourth embodiment (FIG. 15) in which the light source rows arranged on the left and right are only one row on the lower side, the fifth embodiment (FIG. 16) on the upper side with only one row, and the left and right side are arranged side by side. Even in the seventh embodiment (FIG. 18) having a plurality of light source rows, the cooling performance may be improved by providing two or more pumps. In the case of the fourth embodiment (FIG. 15), an embodiment in which the flow direction of the coolant is reversed may be used.
