Description

The present invention relates to a sheet folding apparatus that folds a sheet discharged from an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine and a printing machine. The present invention relates to a sheet folding apparatus that performs folding processing such as folding.

With the increase in the number of functions of sheet processing apparatuses, in an apparatus having a plurality of processing units, there is an operation mode that does not use a punching unit, and when the operation mode is executed, the punching unit is not used. However, there is a problem that the drilling unit cannot be used until the operation is completed.

Therefore, in Patent Document 1, the sheet fed from the sheet feeding unit is punched by the manual operation unit and the punching unit when the sheet transported from the copying machine main body does not pass through the transport path having the punching unit. Although the sheet processing apparatus is disclosed, the folding apparatus is configured between the copying machine and the post-processing apparatus, and is shared by the discharge path after the folding is completed and the discharge conveyance path after punching. Therefore, there is a problem that it cannot be executed simultaneously with the folding process.

Further, Patent Document 2 discloses an apparatus that has a sheet feeding unit for offline folding and can execute an offline folding process. The paper folding device has a manual feed section that constitutes a manual feed base as a second paper carry-in port for “offline folding”, and is configured to allow the paper to be inserted without going through the copying machine main body (offline). . However, there is a problem that the folding processing mode and the non-folding processing mode cannot be executed simultaneously.

Further, Patent Document 3 discloses a folding machine that can perform two folding operations, Z folding, outer three folding, inner three folding, simple four folding, and four-tone folding.

Z-folding (downstream discharge) will be described with reference to FIG. The first switching claw 431 guides the sheet to the first conveyance path 401, passes through the nip between the first folding roller 421 and the second folding roller 422, and the folding position where the leading edge of the sheet is disposed in the third conveyance path 403 The second stopper 452 that can move to the second folding roller 423, the bent portion of the paper enters the nip between the second folding roller 422 and the third folding roller 423, and then the first folding is performed. It is conveyed to the conveyance path 404.

The leading edge of the sheet hits the third stopper 453 that can be moved to the folding position disposed in the fourth conveyance path 404, and the bent portion of the sheet enters the nip between the fourth folding roller 424 and the fifth folding roller 425 for the second time. Is folded and Z-folding is completed. When the Z-folding is completed, the third switching claw 433 is switched to the ninth conveyance path 409 via the sixth conveyance path 406 and the seventh conveyance path 407, and the sheet is discharged to the post-processing apparatus side. To do.

Here, the fourth folding roller driven roller 468 is configured to enter the nip between the fourth folding roller 424 and the fifth folding roller 425, but it is configured by a nip at two central portions. The friction coefficient of the fourth folding roller 424 and the fifth folding roller 425 may decrease due to durability deterioration due to the number of sheets passed, paper dust, or the like.

At this time, a bend is created by abutting the leading edge of the sheet, and the bend is less likely to be drawn into the nip of the folding roller, causing a slip. However, the sheet is conveyed without stopping. For example, at the time of the second folding of Z-folding, the sheet does not wind around the fourth folding roller 424 at the fourth folding roller 424 and a gap is left. Further, except for the portion of the fourth folding roller driven roller 468 that is nipped with the fourth folding roller 424, a conveyance gap is provided between the fourth folding roller 424 and the open / close guide plate.

The sheet is conveyed while being floated or bent by the nip portion and the conveyance gap.
In the state where the paper does not wind around the fourth folding roller 424 at the fourth folding roller 424 and a gap is generated, the floating or bent portion of the paper is stiff, and the stiff portion is bent. There is a problem of damaging the paper.

The object of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned problems, and even during the non-folding process, the folding process can be performed simultaneously, contributing to the improvement of post-processing productivity, and saving power, energy and space. The object is to propose a sheet folding apparatus that can be realized.

A sheet folding apparatus according to the present invention is a sheet folding apparatus that sandwiches a sheet discharged from an image forming apparatus between a pair of folding rollers and folds the sheet. A plurality of front end stopper means for determining a folding position and a conveyance roller for forming a deflection by abutting against the stopper means are configured, and the pair of folding rollers are in close contact with each other, and the first folding roller and the second folding roller The first clamping part formed by the second folding part formed by the second folding roller and the third folding roller, and the third clamping part formed by the fourth folding roller and the fifth folding roller. The post-processing of the folding process and the non-folding process can be executed simultaneously.

According to the present invention, the folding process can be performed at the same time even while the non-folding process is being performed, and it is possible to contribute to the improvement of post-processing productivity and to realize power saving, energy saving, and space saving.

Next, a description will be given of the multiple folding. A case where three sheets are overlapped will be described as an example. The first sheet is guided by the first switching claw 31 through the first conveyance path 1 to the second conveyance path 2.
The leading edge of the sheet hits the first stopper 51 that can move to the folding position arranged in the second conveyance path 2 and stops. The overlapped sheet vertical alignment mechanism (striking roller) 66 ensures contact with the first stopper 51. A sheet alignment in the width direction is performed by an overlapping folded sheet horizontal alignment mechanism (jogger) 67. The stacking / folding order error prevention mechanism 61 presses the rear end side of the sheet.

The second sheet is guided by the first switching claw 31 to the second transport path 2 via the first transport path 1. Since the stacking / folding order error prevention mechanism 61 presses the rear end side of the first sheet, it is conveyed so as to overlap the first sheet. The leading edge of the second sheet hits the first stopper 51 that can move to the folding position arranged in the second conveyance path 2 and stops. The stacked folded paper vertical alignment mechanism (striking roller) 66 securely contacts the first stopper 51 and performs vertical alignment. A sheet alignment in the width direction is performed by an overlapping folded sheet horizontal alignment mechanism (jogger) 67. The stacking / folding order error prevention mechanism 61 presses the rear end side of the first sheet and the second sheet.

The third sheet is guided by the first switching claw 31 to the second transport path 2 via the first transport path 1. Since the stacking / folding order error preventing mechanism 61 presses the rear end side of the first sheet and the second sheet, it is conveyed so as to overlap the second sheet. At this time, the order of transport (first sheet, second sheet, third sheet) is transported without being out of order. The leading edge of the third sheet hits the first stopper 51 that can move to the folding position arranged in the second transport path 2 and stops. The stacked folded paper vertical alignment mechanism (striking roller) 66 securely contacts the first stopper 51 and performs vertical alignment. A sheet alignment in the width direction is performed by an overlapping folded sheet horizontal alignment mechanism (jogger) 67. The stacking / folding order error prevention mechanism 61 presses the rear end side of the first sheet, the second sheet, and the third sheet.

The folding blade 62 pushes three sheets simultaneously into the nip between the first folding roller 21 and the second folding roller 22 to perform the first folding. At this time, the leading end of the folding blade 62 is pushed in until the nip position between the first folding roller 21 and the second folding roller 22 is exceeded. This eliminates the phenomenon that only the outermost sheet (for example, the third sheet) in contact with the folding roller is folded. The second and subsequent folding and discharging operations are the same as the description of the folding and discharging operations.

In addition, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. This is a case where a post-processing mode in which a sheet is received from the copying machine main body 101 and a stapling process is performed is executed.

The conveyance roller of the sheet folding apparatus conveys the sheet to the post-processing apparatus 102 by “conveyance drive A”. The post-processing device 102 receives the sheet, punches it with the punching device 91, or staples it with the stapler device 92, and then releases the bundle from the staple processing discharge path 93. At this time, the folding process can be executed simultaneously with the post-staple processing mode by the sheet folding apparatus.

A sheet is set in the offline sheet feeding unit 83. The sheet size and folding mode are selected by the offline execution SW 84, and the folding execution key is pressed. The sheet is conveyed to the first conveyance path 1 via the offline sheet feeding conveyance path 81. The folding operation in the selected folding mode is the same as described above. The sheet that has been folded is sent to the offline origami discharge conveyance path 82 by the sixth switching claw 36 and discharged to the origami discharge unit (lower) 42.

The sheet folding apparatus is configured by independent conveyance drives of “conveyance drive A”, “conveyance drive B”, “conveyance drive C”, “conveyance drive D”, and “conveyance drive E”. In the case of online folding, “conveyance drive A”, “conveyance drive B”, and “conveyance drive C” are driven to perform folding processing. In the case of offline folding, “conveyance drive D”, “conveyance drive B”, and “conveyance drive E” are driven, and folding processing is performed.

The “conveyance drive A” is driven at the process linear speed of the copying machine main body 101, and the “conveyance drive D”, “conveyance drive B”, and “conveyance drive E” are linear speeds higher than the process linear speed of the copying machine main body 101. Driving. For example, when the process linear speed of the copying machine main body 101 is a low speed machine of 40 CPM, the “folding driving D”, “transporting driving B”, and “transporting driving E” of the offline folding drive are independent drives. It can be driven at a higher linear speed than the linear speed.

The sheet folding apparatus includes an AC line cord 85 and a power source 86, and the sheet folding apparatus can be operated alone even when the power of the main body is stopped. The power of the sheet folding apparatus is turned on, and the sheet is set in the offline sheet feeding unit 83. The sheet size and folding mode are selected by the offline execution SW 84, and the folding execution key is pressed. The subsequent folding operation and sheet conveying operation are as described above.

As an effect of the present invention, as the system of the sheet folding apparatus, the folding process can be performed at the same time even while the non-folding process (for example, stapling) is being performed, which can contribute to the improvement of post-processing productivity. In addition, the folding processing speed is higher than the process linear speed of the copying machine main body, which can contribute to improvement in post-processing productivity. Moreover, since only the sheet folding apparatus is driven, it is possible to contribute to reduction of power consumption. Further, if there is a desk-top sheet folding apparatus, only folding processing can be executed, but installation space is wasted, and the present invention can contribute to energy saving and space saving.
