また、この種の防食管継手を用いた配管においては、内周ライニング鋼管の端部に形成するおねじ部は切削により製作されていたが、近年は転造ローラ(転造ダイス)等を鋼管の外周に押し当てて塑性加工する転造ねじを形成したものが増えている。
転造ねじは、素材に降伏点を超えた圧力を加えて塑性変形させる工法であることから、繊維状金属組織を切断する切削加工と異なり、いわゆるファイバフローが残存し、また加工硬化も伴い、強い強度等、優れた機械的特性を得ることができる。
しかし、その一方で鋼管と管継手とをねじ込み接続する際に、切削ねじと比較して締め込みトルクが大きいという問題があった。

ここでシール剤は、潤滑性を有するものであれば特に限定はないが、フッ素系の高分子をベースとしたフッ素系のシール剤が好ましい。

この保護層13は樹脂ライニングでも粉体コートでもよい。
図1に示した実施例はコア12を別体として成形し、保護層13と接合部14にて接着接合した例になっているが、射出成形等にてコア12と保護層13とを一体的に成形してもよい。
また、コア12の内周部に流体の流れ方向に沿った突条部12cを形成した例になっている。
