Abstract
【解決手段】波長可変レーザ駆動回路1Aは、SG−DFB領域11、SG−DBR領域12、および半導体光増幅領域13を有する波長可変レーザ素子10を駆動する回路であって、SG−DFB領域11、SG−DBR領域12及び半導体光増幅領域13のうち少なくとも二つの領域と電流源或いは電圧源を介して電気的に接続された出力端を有するDC−DCコンバータ20と、DC−DCコンバータ20の制御端子と電気的に接続され、DC−DCコンバータ20の出力電圧Voutを制御する電圧制御部30とを備える。電圧制御部30は、上記少なくとも二つの領域の電圧を個別にモニタし、上記少なくとも二つの領域に印加すべき電圧の最大値を所定電圧だけ超えるようにDC−DCコンバータ20の出力電圧Voutを増減する。

Description
図1は、本発明に係る波長可変レーザ駆動回路の第1実施形態の構成を示すブロック図である。本実施形態の波長可変レーザ駆動回路1Aは、波長可変レーザ素子10を駆動する回路である。波長可変レーザ素子10は、波長制御領域(以下、SG−DBR領域)12、利得領域(以下、SG−DFB領域)11および半導体光増幅(SOA:Semiconductor Optical Amplifier)領域13がこの順に連結した構造を有する。SG−DFB領域11、SG−DBR領域12、及びSOA領域13は、例えば一枚の基板上に集積されている。
図3は、本発明に係る波長可変レーザ駆動回路の第2実施形態の構成を示すブロック図である。本実施形態の波長可変レーザ駆動回路1Bは、波長可変レーザ素子10を駆動する回路である。なお、波長可変レーザ素子10の構成(SG−DFB領域11、SG−DBR領域12、及びSOA領域13)については、既述の第1実施形態と同様なので詳細な説明を省略する。
図4は、本発明に係る波長可変レーザ駆動回路の第3実施形態の構成を示すブロック図である。本実施形態の波長可変レーザ駆動回路1Cは、波長可変レーザ素子10を駆動する回路である。本実施形態と第1実施形態との相違点は、波長可変レーザ素子10と電流源51〜53との接続関係である。
Claims (1)
- 第1の電極を介して提供された電流によって光を発生する利得領域、第2の電極を介して提供された電流によって発振波長の制御を行う波長制御領域、および第3の電極を介して提供された電流によって光を増幅する半導体光増幅領域を少なくとも有する波長可変レーザを駆動する回路であって、
前記利得領域、前記波長制御領域及び前記半導体光増幅領域のうち少なくとも二つの領域と電流源或いは電圧源を介して電気的に接続された出力端を有するDC−DCコンバータと、
前記DC−DCコンバータの制御端子と電気的に接続され、前記DC−DCコンバータの出力電圧を制御する電圧制御部と、
を備え、
前記電圧制御部は、前記少なくとも二つの領域の電圧を個別にモニタし、前記少なくとも二つの領域に印加すべき電圧の最大値を所定電圧だけ超えるように前記DC−DCコンバータの出力電圧を増減することを特徴とする、波長可変レーザ駆動回路。
