Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus, and more particularly, to an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus that easily and accurately detect an arbitrary width size of a conveyance medium such as a document or paper.
Conventionally, in an image reading apparatus, a manual input method has been used to set the document size. However, since the burden on the user is large, a plurality of dedicated sensors (size detection sensors) for detecting the document size are provided. A technique for automatically detecting the size of a document based on a size detection sensor that is turned on among the size detection sensors at the time of document insertion has already been used.
However, in the method of automatically detecting the document size using a plurality of size detection sensors, the types of document sizes that can be detected are limited by the position and number of the size detection sensors. Only document sizes that can be detected by the number can be detected. Further, if it is attempted to detect the document size in detail, it is necessary to install a larger number of size detection sensors, which causes a problem that the image reading apparatus becomes large and it is difficult to twist the harness.
Conventionally, there has been proposed an image reading apparatus 100 that detects a document of an irregular size without using a size detection sensor as shown in FIG. 16 (see Patent Document 1). In this image reading apparatus 100, the leading ends of
However, in the prior art described in the above publication, the light blocking portions of the
That is, as the distance d2 increases, the difference between the reading height of the
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is that it provides an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus that detect a width of an arbitrary size of a conveyance medium with a low cost and a simple configuration with high accuracy.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention holds a plurality of conveyance media and moves in the width direction according to the size in the width direction perpendicular to the conveyance direction of the conveyance medium. A movable arm that can rotate as a rotation center is connected by a connecting means, and the medium guide means is moved in the width direction by rotation about the fulcrum of the movable arm as a rotation center, and in the vicinity of the fulcrum. The detection light is emitted in the direction of the movable arm from the detection light emitting means disposed on the upstream side in the transport direction from the fulcrum, and the reflected light is photoelectrically converted to move the medium guide means in the width direction. Rotating position of the movable arm that rotates The detected by rotational position detection means, characterized by detecting a width size of the transfer medium carrying the media guide means on the basis of the detection result of the pivoting position detector by the width size detection means.
Further, according to the present invention, the connecting means includes a guide hole having a predetermined width formed in a predetermined length in the direction of the fulcrum of the movable arm at a connecting portion of the movable arm with the guide means, and the medium guide means. And a pin that is attached and movably penetrates the guide hole of the movable arm.
Furthermore, the present invention is an image reading apparatus comprising reading means for irradiating a reading light to the original document as the transport medium, photoelectrically converting reflected light from the original document, and reading an image of the original document. The light emitting means and the rotation position detecting means are the reading means for emitting the reading light as the detection light, and the fulcrum is downstream of the reading means in the document conveying direction and in the width direction. The reading means is disposed outside the reading range of the maximum width original in the width direction and within the reading range of the reading means, and the movable arm is within the reading range of the reading means and It may be characterized in that a predetermined range outside the reading range of the maximum width original is moved as a movable range within the movable range.
According to the present invention, the width of an arbitrary size of a transport medium can be detected with high accuracy with an inexpensive and simple configuration.
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In addition, since the Example described below is a suitable Example of this invention, various technically preferable restrictions are attached | subjected, However, The range of this invention is unduly limited by the following description. However, not all the configurations described in the present embodiment are essential constituent elements of the present invention.
1 to 11 are diagrams showing a first embodiment of an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus according to the present invention, and FIG. 1 is an application of the first embodiment of the image reading apparatus and the image forming apparatus according to the present invention. 2 is a top view of a main part of the
イメージセンサ2は、図示しないが、光源であるLED(Light Emitting Diode)、レンズ、光電変換素子であるCCD(Charge Coupled Device )素子等で構成されている。 なお、光電変換素子としては、CCDに限るものではなく、安価なCMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor:相補性金属酸化膜半導体)を用いてもよい。
In FIG. 1, an
The white reference plate 4 provides white reference data for shading correction when the image is read by the
As described above, since the white reference plate 4 is disposed on the
The
The
The
The
As described above, when the
That is, the rotational change of the
At this time, if the document size changes and the connecting
(M1 + M2): X = M1: Y (1)
When the relative movement distance X of the connecting
X=(M1+M2)×Y/M1・・・(2)
X = (M1 + M2) × Y / M1 (2)
Here, the UR distance M3r is defined as the distance M3s between the point R, which is the arm center pixel AP of the
Therefore, the equation (2) can be transformed as the following equation (3).
X=(M1+M2)×(M3r−M3s)/M1・・・(3)
X = (M1 + M2) × (M3r−M3s) / M1 (3)
At this time, since the value of the distance M3r is determined at the stage of design or manufacture of the
The relationship between the number n of pixels from the end position U of the
M3r=n×D・・・(4)
M3r = n × D (4)
However, D is the read pixel density (mm) of main scanning.
For example, when M1 = 50 mm and M2 = 250 mm, and the
For example, when the document size changes from A4 length (210 mm) to A0 novi (914 mm), the necessary detection of the
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The
A CPU (control means, width size detection means) 22 controls each part of the
The
The image processing unit 21 performs various types of image processing on the image data of the document read by the
The CPU 22 calculates and determines the document size from the data of the distance M3 from the arm midpoint detection unit 25.
ROM、EEPROM(Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory )、EPROM、フラッシュメモリ、フレキシブルディスク、CD−ROM(Compact Disc Read Only Memory )、CD−RW(Compact Disc Rewritable )、DVD(Digital Versatile Disk)、SD(Secure Digital)カード、MO(Magneto-Optical Disc)等のコンピュータが読み取り可能な記録媒体に記録されている本発明の搬送媒体幅検知方法を実行する搬送媒体幅検知プログラムを読み込んでROM等に導入することで、後述する任意サイズの搬送媒体(原稿、用紙等)を正確にかつ安価に検知する搬送媒体検知方法を実行する画像読み取り装置として構築されている。

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described. The

Accordingly, an arbitrary document is placed on the
The
The
That is, as shown in FIG. 8, the
In FIG. 8, a read value (detection value) Dt is digital data read by the
n=n1+n2/2・・・(5)
n = n1 + n2 / 2 (5)
At this time, the CPU 22 employs, as an n2 pixel, a pixel when a pixel larger than the threshold value Vth is equal to or greater than the preset arm determination continuous pixel number n3. That is, the read value Dt obtained by converting the analog data output from the
Then, as shown in FIG. 9, the
If the original reading start button is not pressed within a predetermined time in step S103, the CPU 22 returns to step S101 and performs the same processing as described above (steps S101 to S103).
When the document reading start button is pressed in step S103, the CPU 22 determines the image area and starts normal document reading (step S104).
Note that the processing at the time of starting document reading accompanying the document reading start processing is not limited to the procedure shown in FIG. 9, and may be processed according to the procedure shown in FIG. 10, for example.
That is, the CPU 22 first checks whether or not the document reading start button on the operation display unit has been pressed (step S201), and when the document reading start button is pressed, performs document width detection processing (step S202) to detect document width detection. When the processing is completed, the image area is determined and normal document reading processing is started (step S203).
Then, the CPU 22 executes document width detection processing in step S102 in FIG. 9 and step S202 in FIG. 10 as shown in FIG. That is, when the CPU 22 shifts to the document width detection process, as shown in FIG. 11, the CPU 22 scans at least outside the maximum document width in the
If the read value V (i) is lower than the threshold value Vth in step S304, the CPU 22 determines that the
If the read value V (i) of the i-th pixel is not less than the threshold value Vth in step S307, that is, if it is equal to or greater than the threshold value Vth, the CPU 22 returns to step S306 and increments the count value i as described above. Then, the process of checking whether the read value V (i) is less than the threshold value Vth is repeatedly performed, and the number of continuous pixels equal to or greater than the read value V (i) is counted (steps S306 and S307).
If the read value V (i) of the i-th pixel is less than the threshold value Vth in step S307, the CPU 22 calculates the number of consecutive pixels n2 where the read value V (i) is equal to or greater than the threshold value Vth by the following equation (6). (Step S308).
n2=i−n1・・・(6)
n2 = i−n1 (6)
When the CPU 22 calculates the continuous pixel number n2, the arm determination continuous pixel number n3 set in advance to determine whether or not the continuous pixels having the continuous pixel number n2 equal to or greater than the threshold value Vth are the
Therefore, it is possible to prevent the rising pixels due to dust or noise having a small number of pixels in the n1 pixel region in FIG. 8 from being determined as the pixels of the
If the number of continuous pixels n2 exceeds the arm determination continuous pixel number n3 in step S309, the CPU 22 determines that the continuous pixel n2 is a pixel of the
In the document width detection process, basically, the
As described above, the
Therefore, the document width size can be detected with a simple configuration and at a low cost.
In the
Therefore, the
Further, in the
Therefore, the
Further, the
Therefore, the white reference plate 4 can be arranged at an appropriate position without being affected by interference with the
Further, in the
Therefore, the rotational positions of the
Further, in the
Therefore, the rotational positions of the
Further, the
Therefore, it is possible to accurately detect the document width size before reading the document.
Further, in the
Therefore, it is possible to accurately detect the document width size before reading the document.
12 to 15 are diagrams showing a second embodiment of the image reading apparatus and the image forming apparatus according to the present invention, and FIG. 12 applies the second embodiment of the image reading apparatus and the image forming apparatus according to the present invention. 3 is a top view of a main part of the
The present embodiment is applied to an image reading apparatus similar to the
In FIG. 1, an
The second white reference plates 4a and 4b are disposed at a predetermined distance d3 above the
In the
Therefore, the thickness d2 of the
d2 <d3 (6)
The surface (lower surface) of the
That is, the
Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described. The
That is, as in the first embodiment, the
In FIG. 15, if the
In the n1 pixel region, the pixel where the reading value Dt falls is, for example, due to dust or the like, and the pixel value where the reading value Dt rises before the start of the n2 pixel region and the reading after the n2 pixel region The pixel region where the value Dt rises indicates the read pixel region on the surface of the
In FIG. 15, the reading value Dt of the second white reference plate 4a in the n1 pixel region is smaller than the reading value Dt of the
Therefore, the CPU 22 calculates the pixel number n from the data output from the
As described above, since the two colors of the
Also in this embodiment, as in the case of the first embodiment, the document size may be detected based on one position of the
As described above, the
Therefore, the
Further, in the
Therefore, by detecting the
Furthermore, in the
Therefore, by detecting the
In each of the above-described embodiments, the case where the present invention is applied to the
