米国仮特許出願番号60/351,967(2002年1月25日)に基づく出願日の利益を主張するものであり、係る仮出願は本明細書に含まれるべきものである。
本発明は、流動性材料を製造物の部品に塗布するための方法および装置を広範に包含する。特に好適な実施例において、本発明は自動車の1つ以上の部品の1つ以上の所定の場所に対する、粘度の高い流動性材料の精密な押出を行う。
本発明の流動性材料は、広範な異なる材料から選択することができる。場合により、流動性材料は従来のものであってもよいが、新規の方法により、あるいは新規の装置を用いて、あるいはその両方を用いて塗布することができる。また、別の場合には、流動性材料は従来のもの、あるいは既知のものである場合もあるが、この流動性材料が塗布される部品が新規のものである場合もある。さらに別の実施例においては、流動性材料自身が新規のものである場合がある。以下の説明は、特定の所望の用途に関して選択あるいは適応させることが通常必要とされる材料を、当業者が選定する際の助けとなるように、一般的にその化学的構造およびその特性に従って流動性材料を紹介することを意図する。
本発明により流動性材料を部品に塗布する装置は、種々の構成で提供される。本装置は、通常は、流動性材料が通過する流出口を有する少なくとも1つのアプリケータを備える。アプリケータは、圧縮または射出成型装置,押出装置またはその他のアプリケータ装置などの成型装置によって構成される。本装置は、流動性材料の塗布に先立ち所望の形状に流動性材料を形成する助けを行う。さらに、本装置は、アプリケータを移動させて(たとえば単軸または多軸ロボット技術により)アプリケータが1つ以上の部品に流動性材料を塗布することを助ける。

本件に開示される流動性材料は、いくつもの製造物の多様な部品の表面に塗布できる。本明細書で用いる部品とは、製造物のいくつかの部品のうちの1つであっても、製造物の唯一の部品であってもよい。流動性材料が塗布される表面は実質的に平坦であっても、立体的形状(たとえば曲面,角度を持つ面,弧をなす面など)をなしてもよい。好適な実施例においては、表面は少なくとも部分的に、流動性材料を受け取るためのチャネル部を画成する。別の実施例においては、表面は自動車部品の一部である。極めて好適な実施例においては、表面は自動車の車両構造内に組み込まれる型押し金属部品である。
Claims (8)
- 部品の第1表面を設ける段階と、流動性材料が前記第1表面を濡らし、そこに付着するように、多少流動状態で前記第1表面上に前記流動性材料を塗布する段階とを含む流動性材料を製造物の部品に塗布する方法であって、
前記流動性材料を塗布する段階が、前記流動性材料を自動化装置により押し出す段階を含み、この自動化装置が、
i)ペレットとして容器内に納められた前記流動性材料を供給する装置と、
ii)前記流動性材料を供給する装置と連通して前記ペレットを押し出す押出機であって、流動性材料の前記ペレットを粘弾性状態に混合し、前記流動性材料を吐出することができる押出機であり、前記流動性材料を吐出する回転可能なスクリューを備える押出機と、
iii) 前記押出機または前記部品を、前記流動性材料の吐出中に移動させるシステムと、
iv) 前記押出機および前記システムと接続するコントローラであって、スクリューの回転速度を流動性材料の出力に関連付ける計量装置に基づき、前記出力を制御するために閉ループ制御を採用するコントローラとを備える方法。 - 前記コントローラが、前記押出機スクリューの回転方向を反転させて、前記流動性材料が前記部品に塗布された後に短い距離だけ前記流動性材料を後退させるようプログラミングされることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記コントローラが前記押出機と接続するプログラミング可能な論理コントローラであって、前記プログラミング可能な論理コントローラには、流動性材料の出力速度を前記押出機の位置角度と前記押出機スクリューの回転速度とに関連付けるプロファイルがプログラミングされており、前記プログラミング可能な論理コントローラが前記プロファイルと連係する閉ループ制御を採用して、前記出力速度を所望のレベルに設定することを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記押出機が、前記押出機から前記部品に対して材料を押し出す際に通過する押出ダイを含むノズル構造を備え、前記押出機ダイがクィック接続ナットおよびボルト・ファスナ,油圧式クィック接続ファスナまたは雄雌クィック接続ファスナから選択されるクィック変換アタッチメント装置により前記押出機に取り付けられ、さらに、前記押出機ダイが流動性材料の複数のビーズを放出する複数の開口部を備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記押出機が前記流動性材料を所望の温度に加熱する加熱素子を備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記押出機と連携するスクリュー・ベアリング・アセンブリをさらに含み、このスクリュー・ベアリング・アセンブリが第1スラスト・ベアリングと第2スラスト・ベアリングとを有し、前記第1および第2スラスト・ベアリングが反対方向に動作するよう設定されることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記押出機が、前記部品の表面上に3ミリメートル未満の許容差内で前記部品上に前記流動性材料を吐出するよう設定されることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記システムが、前記部品を移動させるためのロボットアーム,コンベヤまたはカルーセルを備え、前記装置が前記容器から前記押出機にペレットを移動させる真空圧源を備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
