Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light irradiation apparatus.
In a liquid crystal device or the like, a photo-alignment technique is known in which an alignment process is performed on an alignment film by irradiating the alignment film provided on the surface of the substrate with light. In the photo-alignment technique, for example, the size and direction of the pre-tilt angle of the alignment film are controlled by irradiating the alignment film with light obliquely. A light irradiation apparatus for performing such photo-alignment processing has been proposed (see, for example,
In the light irradiation device described in
In the light irradiation apparatus described in
In both of the light irradiation devices described in the above two patent documents, when performing a split alignment process in which a plurality of different pretilt angles of different sizes and directions are mixed in one liquid crystal device, light is transmitted through a photomask multiple times. Since it is necessary to change the irradiation angle of light with respect to the alignment film every time light is irradiated, there is a problem that the process becomes complicated and the number of manufacturing steps increases.
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to solve at least a part of the problems described above, and the invention can be implemented as the following forms or application examples.

(First embodiment)
<Schematic configuration of light irradiation device>
First, the outline | summary of the light irradiation apparatus which concerns on 1st Embodiment is demonstrated with reference to figures. FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a schematic configuration of the light irradiation apparatus according to the first embodiment. FIG. 2 is a side view showing a schematic configuration of the light irradiation apparatus according to the first embodiment. Specifically, it is a side view seen from the direction of the central axis of the light source. FIG. 3 is a plan view showing a schematic configuration of the reflecting means according to the first embodiment. Specifically, it is a plan view seen from the light source side of the light irradiation device.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
In the
The
The
Here, since the
The
The
The
The
The
In FIGS. 1 and 3, the
As shown in FIG. 2, the
A part of the linearly
The first direction D2 and the second direction D3 are different from each other, and the
Here, of the linearly
Moreover, when the part which is not reflected by the
The
The
As described above, each component such as the
<Photo-alignment treatment method>
Next, the photo-alignment processing method by the
A
The planar shape of the
The
The liquid crystal device has a configuration in which liquid crystal is sandwiched between an
The
Due to the alignment treatment performed on the
As shown in FIG. 5A, the angle formed by the reflecting
As shown in FIG. 5B, the angle formed by the reflecting
By irradiating the linearly
Accordingly, the pretilt angles θ1 and θ2 can be set to predetermined angles by appropriately setting the angles θ3 and θ5 formed by the reflecting
As described above, in the

(Second Embodiment)
Next, a light irradiation apparatus according to the second embodiment will be described. The light irradiating device according to the second embodiment is different from the light irradiating device according to the first embodiment in the configurations of the polarization separation element and the reflecting means, but the other configurations are the same.

<Schematic configuration of light irradiation device>
As shown in FIG. 6, the
開口部61a,61b,61cのそれぞれに対応して、照射部58a,58b,58c(開口部61a,61b,61cとの対応について区別しない場合には単に照射部58とも呼ぶ)が配置されている。
The
For the sake of clarity, the
The
The
The
In the
FIG. 7 shows the
The P-polarized
At this time, the incident angle of the P-polarized
The angle θ7 of the reflecting surface of the
Thus, in the
Further, in the

As modifications, for example, the following can be considered.
(Modification 1)
In the
