There are concerns about the impact of aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, and xylene on health.
So far, as a technique for collecting and measuring aromatic hydrocarbons present in the atmosphere, a method using a trace flow cell for gas spectroscopic analysis has been proposed (see, for example,

According to the gas measuring device having the configuration as shown in FIG. 8, when collecting and measuring aromatic hydrocarbons present in the atmosphere, for example, directly containing air containing benzene gas as an analysis target gas, By introducing the gas into the gas
On the other hand, when collecting and measuring aromatic hydrocarbons present in a liquid sample such as a river or groundwater, conventionally, a carrier gas is sent into the liquid sample contained in a sealed container and subjected to a bubbling process. Thus, a gas separation device for separating aromatic hydrocarbons present in a liquid sample into a carrier gas is known.

As a gas separation apparatus for separating aromatic hydrocarbons present in a liquid sample into a carrier gas, one using a pervaporation technique which is a kind of membrane separation technique is known.
FIG. 10 is a side view showing another embodiment of the conventional gas separation device.
In FIG. 10, in the gas separation device, a
In the gas separation device, the carrier gas is continuously supplied from the
As shown in FIG. 9 or FIG. 10, the conventional gas separation apparatus is configured such that a carrier gas is supplied from a gas inlet (inlet) and discharged from a gas outlet (outlet), and a liquid sample containing aromatic hydrocarbons The thing with the structure accommodated in the airtight container is common. Since the capacity of this sealed container is usually several hundred milliliters to several liters, it is necessary to prepare a relatively large amount of liquid sample in order to detect aromatic hydrocarbons present in the liquid.
Furthermore, since the conventional gas separation apparatus accommodates the liquid sample in a sealed container, it cannot supply the liquid sample continuously, and is inappropriate for continuous water quality monitoring.
In the gas separation apparatus shown in FIG. 10 using the pervaporation technique, the arrangement of the carrier gas and the water containing the aromatic hydrocarbon is reversed, that is, the carrier gas is sealed in the sealed
By the way, in Japan, the “water quality standards for wastewater” were determined by the Ordinance of the Ministry of the Environment regarding wastewater standards established based on the provisions of the Water Pollution Control Law, and the “water pollution standards for drinking water” were established based on the provisions of the Waterworks Law. It is specified by the Ordinance of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare regarding water quality standards. According to them, the regulation value of aromatic hydrocarbons is regulated to 120 ppb or less in the former (water quality standard for wastewater) and to 12 ppb or less in the latter (water pollution standard for tap drinking water).
In the United States, it is defined by “safe drinking water act”. According to this standard, the regulation value of aromatic hydrocarbons is 500 ppb or less for drainage and 5 ppb or less for tap drinking water.
In the conventional gas separation apparatus that performs the bubbling treatment as shown in FIG. 9, not only the aromatic hydrocarbon but also water is vaporized together, so the water vapor concentration (relative humidity) in the carrier gas becomes very high. As an example, it is known that the relative humidity is up to about 90%.
On the other hand, in the conventional gas measuring apparatus as shown in FIG. 8, mesoporous silica is known as a porous silica material used in the
However, when mesoporous silica is used in the

In both of the gas separation apparatuses shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the carrier gas is supplied to one flow path, and the liquid sample is allowed to flow through the other flow path while the analysis target gas present in the liquid sample is removed. Separated in carrier gas.
Among them, as the gas separation device of the present invention, the extraction efficiency of the analysis target gas present in the liquid sample and the concentration of the analysis target gas in the carrier gas are further increased. Therefore, the
Specifically, as the
However, when gas separation is performed while flowing a liquid sample in the present invention, the gas to be analyzed existing in the vicinity of the silicone membrane actually permeates the silicone membrane. Therefore, regarding the extraction efficiency of the gas to be analyzed present in the liquid sample, the ratio of the volume of the liquid sample in the flow path to the surface area of the silicone membrane (inner diameter of the
At the same time, in order to increase the concentration of the analysis target gas in the carrier gas, the ratio (carrier) of the volume of the carrier gas in the flow path to the surface area of the silicone membrane (the outer diameter of the silicone tube in the gas separation device 20) Gas volume / silicone membrane surface area) is an important parameter, and it is preferable to make this parameter as small as possible.
Considering these two parameters, for example, a double tube configuration in which a silicone tube is arranged inside the

<Gas separation method>
The gas separation method of the present invention uses the gas separation device of the present invention, supplies the carrier gas to the flow path for flowing the carrier gas, and flows the liquid sample to the flow path for flowing the liquid sample, In this method, an analysis target gas present in the liquid sample is separated into the carrier gas.
In the gas separation method, the gas separation apparatus of the present invention is used, and the gas separation is performed while the carrier gas and the liquid sample are individually supplied to the respective flow paths.

The liquid sample may be a liquid sample containing the gas to be analyzed, and examples thereof include water containing aromatic hydrocarbons and water containing alcohol.
As the carrier gas, for example, air, nitrogen or the like can be used.

In the gas measuring device of the present invention, zeolite is used as a material for the gas sampling part.
FIG. 5 shows the relationship between “adsorption ability of aromatic hydrocarbons” and “relative humidity of carrier gas” when zeolite and conventionally used mesoporous silica are used as the material of the gas sampling part. It is the shown graph.
From FIG. 5, it can be seen that mesoporous silica exhibits very good aromatic hydrocarbon adsorption capacity in an environment where the relative humidity of the carrier gas is 0%. However, in an environment with a relative humidity of about 45% assuming a general atmospheric humidity, the adsorption capacity of aromatic hydrocarbons is significantly reduced, and an environment with a relative humidity of 90% assuming the humidity of the carrier gas after the bubbling treatment is assumed. When it becomes, it turns out that aromatic hydrocarbons can hardly be adsorbed.
On the other hand, zeolite has an aromatic hydrocarbon adsorption capacity that is inferior to mesoporous silica in an environment where the carrier gas has a relative humidity of 0%, but in an environment with a relative humidity of about 45%, the adsorption capacity of the aromatic hydrocarbon is reversed. It shows higher adsorption capacity than mesoporous silica. Furthermore, it can be seen that zeolite has a sufficient adsorption capacity for aromatic hydrocarbons even in an environment with a relative humidity of 90%.
That is, the zeolite is suitable as a material for the gas sampling part used for measuring the water quality in which the gas to be analyzed present in the “liquid sample” is measured.

Further, in the
6-7 is a figure explaining the relationship between the relative humidity and benzene concentration of carrier gas, and the structure of a gas measuring device. The figure showing the gas measurement device (showing the configuration from the gas separation device to the gas concentration cell) corresponds to the behavior of the relative humidity and benzene concentration of the carrier gas.
In all the figures, the same embodiment as the gas separation device shown in FIG. 9 is used as the gas measurement device. By performing the bubbling process, the relative humidity of the carrier gas sent from the gas separation device is increased to about 90%.
6 to 7, water containing benzene is used as the liquid sample.
