Claims (24)
- 光変調素子及び
光変調素子を照明するように構成された色調整可能なOLED照明源
を含んでなり、
前記照明源は異なる基材上に製造され、積み重ねた構成で組み立てられた複数のOLED層を含んでおり、
複数のOLED層の各々は下にあるOLED層により発せられた光を透過するように構成された不活性非発光領域と交互になった活性発光領域を含む、カラーディスプレイデバイス。 - 複数のOLED層の各々が第1の色の光を発することができる第1のOLED層及び第2の色の光を発することができ、第1のOLED層上に配置された第2のOLED層を含んでおり、前記第1のOLED層が第1の基材、該基材上に配置された第1の透明電極層、第1の色の光を発することができる、第1の透明電極層上に配置された第1のエレクトロルミネセント層、並びに交互に活性発光領域及び不活性非発光領域を形成する第1のパターン化され金属化された電極層を含んでおり、前記第2のOLED層が第2の基材、該基材上に配置された第2の透明電極層、第2の色の光を発することができる、第2の透明電極層上に配置された第2のエレクトロルミネセント層及び交互に活性発光領域及び不活性非発光領域を形成する第2のパターン化され金属化された電極層を含んでおり、第1のOLED層の活性発光領域により発せられた光が第2のOLED層の不活性非発光領域を通って透過する、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 色調整可能なOLED照明源がさらに第3のOLED層を含んでおり、第3のOLED層が第3の基材、該基材上に配置された第3の透明電極層、第3の色の光を発することができる、第3の透明層上に配置された第3のエレクトロルミネセント層、並びに交互に活性発光領域及び不活性非発光領域を形成する第3のパターン化され金属化された電極層を含んでおり、第1のOLED層の活性発光領域により発せられた光が第2及び第3のOLED層の不活性非発光領域を通って透過し、第2のOLED層の活性領域により発せられた光が第3のOLED層の不活性領域を通って透過する、請求項2記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 活性発光領域が1以上の活性OLED素子を含む、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 不活性非発光領域が1以上の不活性OLED素子を含む、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 複数のOLED層が独立して電気的に作動可能である、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- OLED層のOLED素子が直列に相互接続されたアーキテクチャーに構成されている、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 光変調素子が液晶ディスプレイ素子である、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 光変調素子がエレクトロクロミック素子、回折素子、可変鏡素子及びこれらの組合せからなる群から選択される素子である、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 色調整可能なOLED照明源が背面からLCDを照明するように構成されている、請求項9記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- さらに、OLED照明源とLCD素子の第1の側面との間に配置された第1の偏光子を含む、請求項10記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- さらに、OLED照明源とLCD素子の第2の側面との間に配置された第2の偏光子を含む、請求項11記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- さらに、OLED照明源の各々の層に選択的に動力を供給して、時間的に変化する平面状背面光の色を生成させ、人間の視覚応答周波数より高い周波数で複数のOLED層により生成された異なる色を通して循環させるための制御器を含む、請求項10記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- さらに、光−透過型LCDの各画素の透過性を時間的に変化する平面状背面光の色と同調して変化させてカラーディスプレイを生成するための駆動器を含む、請求項13記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- LCDがカラーフィルターを含まない、請求項10記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 複数のOLED層の各々が緑色発光OLED層、赤色発光OLED層及び青色発光層を含む、請求項10記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- OLED照明源がさらに光拡散又は散乱素子を含む、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- 色調整可能なOLED照明源が前面からLCDを照明するように構成されている、請求項1記載のカラーディスプレイデバイス。
- LCD素子、
背面からLCDを照明するように構成された色調整可能なOLED照明源であって、該照明源は異なる基材上に製造され積み重ねた構成で組み立てられた複数のOLED層を含んでおり、複数のOLED層は各々が活性発光領域と不活性非発光領域を交互に含んでおり、複数のOLED層の各々の不活性非発光領域は下にあるOLED層により発せられた光を透過するように構成されている、前記色調整可能なOLED照明源、
OLED照明源の各々の層に選択的に動力を供給するための制御器、並びに
光−透過型LCDの各画素の透過性を変化させるための駆動器
を含んでなるバックライト型LCDデバイス。 - OLED照明源がさらに光拡散又は散乱素子を含む、請求項19記載のバックライト型LCDデバイス。
- フィールドシーケンシャルカラースキームで複数のOLED層の各々に選択的に動力を供給して、時間的に変化する背面光の色を生成し、複数のOLED層の各々により生成した人間の視覚応答周波数より高い周波数を有する異なる色を介して循環させる、請求項19記載のバックライト型LCDデバイス。
- OLED層を個々のフレームレートの少なくとも3倍で明滅させる、請求項19記載のバックライト型LCDデバイス。
- OLED出力のパルス幅が個々のフレームタイムの約1/3であるように変調されて運動ぶれの低減を可能にする、請求項19記載のバックライト型LCDデバイス。
- バックライト型ディスプレイを照明する方法であって、
色調整可能なOLED照明源の複数のOLED層の1以上のOLED層に選択的に電気出力を提供して、照明源の光出力の色及び/又は強度を調整し、
平面状背面光の色を時間的に変化させ、1つ又は2以上のOLED層の組合せにより生成した人間の視覚応答周波数より高い周波数を有する異なる色を通して循環させ、
時間的に変化する平面状背面光の色と同調して光−透過型LCDの各画素の透過性を変化させてカラーディスプレイを生成させる
ことを含んでなり、
前記複数のOLED層が活性発光領域と不活性非発光領域を交互に含んでおり、複数のOLED層の各々の不活性非発光領域が下にあるOLED層により発せられた光を透過するように構成されている、前記方法。
