Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a charging device that charges a photosensitive drum used as a toner image carrier, and an image forming apparatus including the charging device.
An image forming apparatus such as a printer, a facsimile machine, and a copying machine includes a photosensitive drum, a charging device that uniformly charges the circumferential surface of the photosensitive drum, and the charged circumferential surface is exposed based on image data. It includes an exposure device that forms an electrostatic latent image thereon, a developing device that supplies toner to the electrostatic latent image to form a toner image, and the like.
The charging device includes, as main basic components, a roller body that contacts the circumferential surface of the photosensitive drum to uniformly charge the circumferential surface, and a roller rotation shaft that protrudes from both ends of the roller body. The shaft end portion of the roller rotation shaft is supported by a support mechanism described in
The support mechanism of
In the support mechanism of
The arm portion is formed with a locking hole for locking the bearing member in a predetermined position after the bearing member is moved in the axial direction in addition to the groove portion allowing the axial movement of the bearing member. The bearing member is formed with a locking claw that can be locked in the locking hole. Thus, the structure of the support mechanism of
In view of the above circumstances, an object of the present invention is to provide a charging device with a simple structure and an image forming apparatus including the same while ensuring the ease of replacement of the charging roller.
In order to achieve the above object, a charging device according to the present invention comprises a charging roller having a roller main body in contact with an object to be charged, a roller rotating shaft protruding from both ends of the roller main body, and an elastically deformable material. And a bearing member that rotatably supports a shaft end portion of the roller rotation shaft, and a casing that accommodates the charging roller and the bearing member in a state where the charging roller is supported by the bearing member. The bearing member includes a first bearing portion having a housing space in which the shaft end portion is rotatably fitted, and the first bearing portion extends along a circumferential direction of the shaft end portion to define the housing space. A cylindrical member having a peripheral wall, an open one end surface, and the other end surface opposed to the one end surface, and the peripheral wall has an insertion port over the entire length of the peripheral wall along the axial direction of the shaft end portion. The other end surface is formed with a slit that extends in the fitting direction in which the shaft end portion is fitted into the housing space through the insertion port, and one end is open to the insertion port. The opening width of the mouth in the direction substantially perpendicular to the axial direction is set smaller than the diameter of the shaft end portion.
According to the charging device of the present invention, since the bearing member is made of an elastically deformable material, when the shaft end portion of the roller rotation shaft is fitted into the accommodation space of the first bearing portion through the insertion port, the insertion port, the slit, Begins to expand substantially simultaneously along the circumferential direction of the shaft end. At this time, since the insertion port is easily expanded along with the expansion of the slit, the shaft end portion is fitted into the accommodation space. And since an insertion port returns to the original shape by the elastic return force of a bearing member, a shaft end part is certainly held by the 1st bearing part. Also, when the shaft end portion of the roller rotation shaft is removed from the first bearing portion through the insertion port, the insertion port and the slit begin to expand at the same time along the circumferential direction of the shaft end portion. Thus, since the insertion port is easily expanded, the shaft end portion is detached from the first bearing portion through the insertion port. As described above, according to the charging device according to the present invention, the insertion opening is easily widened by the presence of the slit, so that the charging roller can be easily attached and detached, that is, the charging roller can be easily replaced.
Furthermore, the holding force with respect to the shaft end portion of the first bearing portion can be increased due to the presence of the slit. Specifically, since the shaft end portion is easily fitted into the first bearing portion due to the presence of the slit, even if the opening width of the insertion port is reduced to some extent, the first bearing portion at the shaft end portion due to the presence of the slit. There will be no hindrance to fitting. When the opening width of the insertion port is reduced, the area of the first bearing portion that contacts the shaft end portion increases by the reduced amount, so that the holding force of the first bearing portion with respect to the shaft end portion can be increased. .
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the bearing member is attached to the casing while supporting the charging roller.
As described above, since the attachment and detachment of the shaft end portion of the charging roller with respect to the first bearing portion is performed through the insertion port, the charging roller can be replaced even when the bearing member remains attached to the casing. it can. As a result, the charging roller need not be replaced after the bearing member is once removed from the casing.
In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the charging device further includes a cleaning roller disposed in contact with the charging roller to clean the charging roller, and the cleaning roller is the roller of the charging roller. A rotation shaft extending in parallel with the rotation shaft; and the bearing member is formed integrally with the first bearing portion, and a shaft end portion of the rotation shaft of the cleaning roller is rotatably fitted therein. 2 bearing parts are included.
According to this configuration, the bearing member integrally includes the second bearing portion into which the shaft end portion of the rotation shaft of the cleaning roller is fitted, and the first bearing portion. In other words, the shaft end portion of the cleaning roller And the corresponding shaft end portion of the charging roller are rotatably supported by a common bearing member, so that the pitch distance between the charging roller and the cleaning roller is maintained with high accuracy. Thereby, the contact amount (so-called biting amount) of the cleaning roller with respect to the charging roller is always kept constant, so that image defects such as jitter due to unstable rotation of the charging roller can be suppressed.
In still another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the casing has a power supply terminal that can be connected to an external power source, and the bearing member is a member formed of a conductive resin, and the bearing member An urging member that urges the bearing member so that the roller body comes into contact with the predetermined object is disposed between the power supply terminal and the power feeding terminal.
According to this configuration, the charging roller can be supplied with power through the biasing member and the bearing member by the conductive biasing member disposed between the bearing member and the power feeding terminal. Further, if the urging force of the urging member is appropriately set, the contact pressure of the charging roller with respect to a predetermined target of the roller body can be easily adjusted.
The image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes a photosensitive drum having a circumferential surface, a charging device that uniformly charges the circumferential surface of the photosensitive drum, and exposing the charged circumferential surface based on image data. An exposure device that forms an electrostatic latent image on the peripheral surface, a developing device that supplies toner to the electrostatic latent image to form a toner image, and a transfer device that transfers the toner image onto paper. And a fixing device for fixing the toner image on the paper onto the paper, and the charging device having the above configuration is used as the charging device.
According to the charging device and the image forming apparatus including the charging device of the present invention, the structure can be simplified while ensuring the ease of replacement of the charging roller. Further, the holding force of the bearing member with respect to the charging roller can be improved.

Hereinafter, the charging
The charging

Each of the pair of bearing
First, the
The
The
The
Next, the
In a state where the

One
Each
Each bearing
Each engaging
The
The opposed
The pair of bearing
Note that locking
The charging
Further, when the
Furthermore, according to the charging
Further, in the charging
