Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a developing device that visualizes an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier, a copier having the developing device, a printer, a facsimile, a plotter, and an image forming apparatus such as a multifunction machine having at least one of them.
In recent years, along with demands for miniaturization and individualization of image forming apparatuses using electrophotographic technology such as copying machines and printers, development apparatuses have been miniaturized. In addition, in response to such a request, a disposable developing device that replaces the whole when the toner runs out, a photosensitive member that is a latent image carrier on which an electrostatic latent image is formed, and a cleaning that removes toner remaining on the photosensitive member. In general, a process cartridge in which an apparatus or the like is integrated with a developing device has been widely used.
In view of the need for such downsizing and the simplicity of the configuration, a circulating and conveying type developing device having two stirring screws and having a partition plate in between is currently the mainstream.
In this type of developing device, toner is replenished to the upstream part of the stirring path far from the developing roller and transferred to the stirring path near the developing roller, and the toner is dispersed and the developer is uniformly stirred. Thus, the developer having a constant toner concentration is transferred to the stirring path on the developing roller side.
However, in actuality, a part of the replenished toner becomes floating toner due to a phenomenon called “upslip”, and the toner is slid on the surface of the developer to be transported on the transport path. May be transferred to the stirring path on the developing roller side without being stirred.
This causes various problems such as background contamination, toner scattering, and density unevenness.
Conventionally, most of the density unevenness that has occurred is caused by the replenished toner reaching the developing sleeve directly in a low or uncharged state. What is called a toner upslip phenomenon is the cause of this density unevenness.
It is also well known that if the developer stays in the middle of the developer transport path, the chargeability of the toner is impaired. For example, an abnormal image called an auger mark, which is density unevenness corresponding to the shape of the conveying member.
Therefore, in order to improve the density unevenness, it is required to improve the stirring property of the developer by preventing the above-slip phenomenon of the toner and the retention of the developer.
Since the partition member that partitions between the first and second transporting units is inclined so as to descend in the developer transporting direction, the transporting force of the first transporting unit can be increased.
However, in the method described in
That is, since no countermeasure is taken against the above-described toner slip phenomenon, a sufficient mixing and stirring function of the replenishment toner cannot be expected even if the stay is suppressed by the improvement of the conveying force.

As described above, the screw-like stirring member lacking a part of the blades rotates in the direction in which the agent is conveyed in the direction opposite to the direction in which the agent is conveyed by its own weight, thereby achieving both agitation and charging stability. .
If sufficient stirring can be achieved, the screw-shaped stirring member may be a stirring blade 205b with a large notch as shown in FIG. 5 (b), or alternatively with or without the stirring blade 205c as shown in FIG. 5 (c). You may make it comprise.

As shown in FIG. 8A, a plurality of rectangular stirring blades may be provided with respect to the shaft.
Further, the width of the rectangular stirring blade may be thin, and as shown in FIG. 8B, it may be a rod-shaped blade 205f.
Furthermore, the size of the rectangular stirring blades does not have to be the same. As shown in FIG.8 (c), it is also possible to use the blade |
As shown to Fig.9 (a), it is good also as a structure which has the blade |
Thereby, since the effect of shearing the developer is improved, the stirring property is improved.
As shown in FIGS. 9B and 9C, the blades 205i and 205j are provided with holes (rectangular holes, round holes, etc.) so that a part of the developer can pass through the rectangular stirring blades. Also good. Also in this case, since the effect of shearing the developer is improved, the stirring property is improved.
As described above, the developer is stirred by the rectangular stirring member in the direction perpendicular to the direction in which the agent is transported by its own weight, thereby preventing the developer from being transported by its own weight. Therefore, it is possible to achieve both transportability and stirring ability.

Next, the developer used in the above embodiments will be described.
The toner used for the developer is preferably one having a volume average particle diameter of 5 μm or less. By using a toner having a small diameter of 5 μm or less, it is possible to develop faithfully with respect to the latent image, and a high-definition image can be obtained.
Conventionally, when a toner of 5 μm or less is used, an effect of improving the image quality is obtained, but the fluidity of the developer is deteriorated, and the replenishment toner may be poorly charged.
In the developing device according to each of the above embodiments, the stirrability is very high, so that both high image quality and charging stability can be achieved.
The carrier used for the developer preferably has an average particle size of 30 μm or less. By using a small-diameter carrier of 30 μm or less, a dense magnetic brush is formed, and development that is faithful to the latent image is possible, and a high-definition image is obtained.
Even when a carrier of 30 μm or less is used, the fluidity of the developer is deteriorated in the same manner as described above, and charging failure of the replenishment toner may occur. However, by using the developing device according to each of the above embodiments. Sufficient agitation was obtained, charging characteristics were ensured, and both high image quality and charging stability became possible.
