Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel reformer.
In a hydrogen-utilized internal combustion engine that uses hydrogen added to a hydrocarbon fuel, a liquid hydrogenated fuel containing an organic hydride is mounted on a vehicle, and hydrogen is generated from the hydrogenated fuel as needed (Patent Literature). 1).
By the way, we are investigating whether hydrogen can be continuously generated from a hydrocarbon fuel (hereinafter simply referred to as “fuel”) by a reforming catalyst, but a substance that is difficult to react covers the catalyst surface. Therefore, there is a problem in that hydrogen cannot be generated unless a substance that is difficult to react in the covered fuel is purged. For this reason, in the technique of
However, such a method requires a plurality of reactors, and the fuel reformer becomes large.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus capable of continuously generating hydrogen even with one reforming catalyst.

The present invention relates to a reforming catalyst (3B) for reforming fuel by a chemical reaction, a fuel injection device (4) for injecting fuel to the reforming catalyst (3B), and a fuel for reforming catalyst (3B). A fluid supply device (14) for supplying a fluid containing no components, and fuel injection is performed in the first period using the fluid supply device (14) and the fuel injection device (4). In the subsequent second period, the fuel injection is stopped and the fluid containing no fuel component is supplied, and the fuel injection, the stop of the fuel injection and the fluid supply are repeated, and the second period is equal to the first period or The setting is made to be set larger than the first period.
According to the present invention, a reforming catalyst that reforms fuel by causing a chemical reaction, a fuel injection device that injects fuel into the reforming catalyst, and a fluid supply that supplies fluid that does not contain a fuel component to the reforming catalyst And a fuel injection device that performs fuel injection in a first period using the fluid supply device and the fuel injection device, stops fuel injection in a second period following the first period, and does not contain a fuel component. The fuel is injected, the fuel injection is stopped, the fuel injection is stopped, and the fluid supply is repeated, and the second period is set equal to or longer than the first period, so even one reforming catalyst generates hydrogen. It has become possible to continue.

As shown in FIG. 1, a cylindrical adsorbent 3A and a reforming

The hydrogen is generated from the fuel by performing the dehydrogenation reaction represented by the chemical reaction formula.
In the present invention, the reforming catalyst is a catalyst having a capability of generating hydrogen from at least a part of the fuel component through a dehydrogenation process (dehydrogenation reaction). As the reforming catalyst, a known catalyst and a catalyst having the same function can be used regardless of whether they are commercially available. Examples of the reforming catalyst will be shown below, but the present invention is not limited to these examples.
The catalyst has a form in which a catalytically active powder is coated on a support carrier, and the catalytically active powder is a product in which a metal is supported on an oxide powder in a highly dispersed state. Here, the metal is, for example, a noble metal such as rhodium, platinum, or palladium. In addition, a non-noble metal (base metal) such as iron, cobalt, manganese, or nickel can be used. As the oxide powder, silica, alumina, ceria, zirconia, titania, or a composite oxide containing at least a part thereof can be used. Examples of the support carrier include honeycomb-shaped, spherical, ring-shaped cordierite, silicon carbide, stainless steel, and the like.
Next, details of examples of the catalyst are shown. Dinitrodiamine platinum salt was added as a “metal” precursor to alumina “oxide powder” dispersed in water and stirred for 60 minutes. Then, it was dried at 150 degrees for one day and night, and pulverized and then fired at 400 degrees for 1 hour. The “catalytically active powder” was prepared by the above method. The “catalytically active powder” prepared in this manner is stirred with water and water, and the slurry is applied to a honeycomb carrier (support carrier) made of cordierite, dried, and fired. Got.
As the adsorbent 3A, adsorption of refractory inorganic compounds such as silica (SiO 2 ), alumina (Al 2 O 3 ), zeolite (high Si / 2Al ratio type), silicalite not containing Al, activated carbon, etc. Material components can be included. It is desirable to select an adsorbent as appropriate according to the type of fuel used. In addition, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, a rare earth metal, or the like can be added to control the surface characteristics of these adsorbents.
As shown in FIG. 2, air is supplied to the
The engine may be either a gasoline engine that ignites and burns an air-fuel mixture by spark ignition using gasoline as a fuel, or a diesel engine that burns an air-fuel mixture by compression ignition using light oil as a fuel.
When the
Next, the reason why the adsorbent 3A is newly provided upstream of the reforming
As shown in FIG. 3A, assuming that the catalyst temperature before the start of fuel injection is a predetermined temperature T0 [° C.] (= atmospheric temperature), the catalyst temperature is faster than the predetermined temperature T0 at the timing of t0 when fuel injection is started. After the temperature drops to the predetermined temperature Ta [° C.], the temperature is maintained for a while at the predetermined temperature Ta. At this time, hydrogen is generated from the reforming
Thus, although the catalyst temperature is lowered by the dehydrogenation reaction (endothermic reaction), the production of hydrogen does not last long. 3B is the same as the change in the catalyst temperature shown in FIG. 3A. The value obtained by subtracting the predetermined temperature Ta from the predetermined temperature Tb is the endothermic degree ΔT [° C.] (= Tb− of the reforming
The inventor analyzed the reason why the generation of hydrogen does not last for a long time is the model diagram shown in the lower part of FIG. The above-mentioned automobile fuel (gasoline and light oil) is a mixture of various fuel types consisting of aliphatic, naphthenic, and aromatic. Hereinafter, it is simply divided into a “low boiling point fuel” and a fuel composed of a relatively high boiling point fuel species (this fuel is hereinafter simply referred to as “high boiling point fuel”).
First, as shown on the left side of the lower part of FIG. 3A, at the beginning of fuel injection, low boiling point fuel (shown in a round shape) and high boiling point fuel (shown in an elliptical shape) The catalyst surface is evenly contacted and a dehydrogenation reaction (endothermic reaction) is carried out with any fuel by the catalyst. In detail, it is thought that dehydrogenation reaction by polycondensation of paraffin and dehydrogenation reaction of naphthene (cycloalkane) occur.
The low boiling point fuel is vaporized (evaporated) and desorbed from the catalyst surface, whereas the high boiling point fuel cannot be vaporized and remains adsorbed on the catalyst surface. Due to the difference in behavior between the low-boiling point fuel and the high-boiling point fuel, the high-boiling point fuel adheres to the catalyst surface where the low-boiling point fuel has disappeared due to vaporization. That is, as the ratio of the high boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface increases, the catalyst surface to which the low boiling point fuel adheres disappears as shown in the right side of the lower part of FIG. It is thought that hydrogen generation by ceases. In other words, if the deposition of fuel on the catalyst surface of the fuel spray and the vaporization of fuel from the catalyst surface are repeated continuously, hydrogen generation is performed satisfactorily. It is thought that hydrogen is no longer produced at the timing when it can no longer be vaporized. Therefore, the “low boiling point fuel” here is a fuel that can be vaporized at the catalyst temperature (or below this temperature) when the dehydrogenation reaction (endothermic reaction) of the above formula (1) is performed. On the other hand, the “high boiling point fuel” is a fuel that cannot be vaporized at the catalyst temperature (or below this temperature) when the dehydrogenation reaction (endothermic reaction) of the above formula (1) is performed. .
As a result of the analysis of the fuel behavior, the high boiling point fuel is adsorbed by the adsorbent 3A provided on the upstream side of the reforming
Since the adsorbent 3A delays the high-boiling point fuel from reaching the reforming
In this case, if the high-boiling point fuel is removed from both the adsorbent 3A and the reforming
The reason why air is blown (supplied) from the
On the other hand, when air is supplied from the
Hydrogen is generated by performing a partial oxidation reaction (exothermic reaction) represented by the reaction formula of As a result, the high boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface of the reforming
The complete oxidation reaction (exothermic reaction) represented by the reaction formula of This also removes the high boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface of the reforming
Further, when air and water vapor are supplied from the
Hydrogen is generated by performing a dehydrogenation reaction (endothermic reaction) represented by the reaction formula of As a result, the high boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface of the reforming
Further, the high boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface of the reforming
Considering this further with reference to FIG. 4, FIG. 4 shows how the hydrogen generation amount and the catalyst temperature of the reforming
Since the
Further, the fuel injection by the
Thus, regeneration of the adsorbent 3A and the reforming
Consider further. Usually, in the catalytic reaction, in order to cause more reactions per unit time, fuel reforming is performed by supplying fuel to the catalyst as frequently as possible. That is, as shown in the uppermost part of FIG. 5, the injection execution period Δt3 for each injection is determined, and the injection suspension period, which is a period between two consecutive one injections, is shortened as much as possible. Is performed continuously. Here, the injection stop period is determined by the physical configuration of the
However, as the number of injections per unit time per unit time, that is, the fuel injection amount per unit time is increased in this way, the period until the catalyst surface of the reforming
Therefore, the present inventor goes against such a normal fuel injection method to reduce the fuel injection amount per unit time, that is, as shown in the second stage of FIG. 5, the injection execution period Δt3 ( The injection stop period Δt2 was determined by conducting an experiment to determine what happens if the injection stop period Δt2 is made longer than the normal fuel injection method while keeping the same fuel injection amount) as in the normal fuel injection method. It has been newly found that the longer the fuel injection method per unit time (catalyst reaction amount) is suppressed than in the case of a normal fuel injection method, the fuel reforming is greatly promoted. The inventor analyzed this is the model diagram shown in the lowermost part of FIG.
As shown on the left side of the lowermost stage in FIG. 5, in the dehydrogenation reaction process, the low boiling point fuel (shown in a round shape) and the high boiling point fuel (shown in an elliptical shape) are evenly reformed. The dehydrogenation reaction (endothermic reaction) is carried out with any fuel by the catalyst. This is the same as that shown on the left side of the lower part of FIG.
The first injection per time started at t0 is stopped at the timing t11 when the injection execution period Δt3 has elapsed, and the second injection is restarted at the timing t12 when the injection stopping period Δt2 ends. Then, as shown in the third stage of FIG. 5, the
Thus, if the adsorbent 3A and the reforming
As a result, as shown in FIG. 17, it is known that the hydrogen generation amount is increased by 480% compared with the unit fuel after the countermeasure as compared with before the countermeasure. As a result, even if the amount of hydrogen produced is the same, the amount of supplied fuel can be reduced to about 1/5. Therefore, the driving force of the
Next, how to set the injection stop period Δt2 is specifically set. As parameters affecting the injection stop period Δt2, the content ratio of the high boiling point fuel, the carrier gas flow rate, the catalyst of the reforming
Here, the above-mentioned parameters will be explained in advance.
Content of high boiling point fuel = amount of high boiling point fuel / (amount of high boiling point fuel + amount of low boiling point fuel)
... (5)
It is a value defined by the formula. If the content of the high-boiling point fuel in the fuel can be detected, this may be detected, or the following may be performed. That is, as specific examples of high boiling point fuel species, there are fuel types such as n-paraffin, iso-paraffin, naphthene, aroma and olefin, and the content ratio of one of these fuel types in the fuel is known. The content ratio of the high boiling point fuel can be represented by the content ratio in the fuel of one detected fuel type. Alternatively, a fuel with a relatively high content of high boiling point fuel is a fuel with a relatively high octane number, and a fuel with a relatively low content of high boiling point fuel is a fuel with a relatively low octane number. Therefore, when the octane number of the fuel is detected by a known method and the detected octane number is relatively high, the content of the high boiling point fuel is relatively large, and conversely, the detected octane number is relatively low. It can be considered that the content of the high boiling point fuel is relatively small.
The carrier gas is a gas that is blown (supplied) from the
The injection amount per time is the amount of fuel injected from the
As shown in FIG. 6, the injection suspension period Δt2 increases as the content ratio of the high boiling point fuel increases. The injection stop period Δt2 increases as the content of the high-boiling point fuel increases, and the amount of the high-boiling point fuel adsorbed on the adsorbent 3A increases as the content of the high-boiling point fuel increases. This is because desorption (removal) of the high boiling point fuel is difficult to proceed and removal of the high boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface of the reforming
As shown in FIG. 7, the injection suspension period Δt2 becomes smaller as the carrier gas flow rate increases. As the carrier gas flow rate increases, the injection suspension period Δt2 decreases. The higher the carrier gas flow rate, the easier the desorption of the high boiling point fuel from the adsorbent 3A proceeds and the high boiling point fuel that covers the catalyst surface of the reforming
As shown in FIG. 8, the injection suspension period Δt2 decreases as the catalyst temperature increases. The higher the catalyst temperature, the smaller the injection suspension period Δt2. The higher the catalyst temperature, the easier the high-boiling point fuel desorption from the adsorbent 3A and the removal of the high-boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface of the reforming
As shown in FIG. 9, the injection suspension period Δt2 increases as the injection amount increases. The injection stop period Δt2 increases as the injection amount per time increases. The higher the injection amount per time, the more the high-boiling point fuel desorption proceeds from the adsorbent 3A and the catalyst surface of the reforming
Thus, in the present invention, the injection suspension period Δt2 is set based on the high-boiling point fuel content ratio, the carrier gas flow rate, the catalyst temperature, and the injection amount per injection, and the set injection suspension period Δt2 and injection execution period Δt3 are set. Based on the above, the
1 and 2, for such control, a
The
At the beginning of each injection, the high boiling point fuel is adsorbed by the
By performing such control by the
In the case of FIG. 2, it is determined in advance under which operating conditions the
This control performed by the
FIG. 10 is for setting the injection stop period Δt2 in accordance with the fuel supplied at the time of refueling. In
When the refueling flag = 1, it is determined that refueling has been performed, and the process proceeds to step 2 to estimate (calculate) the content ratio of the high boiling point fuel in the refueled fuel. As described above, the method for estimating the content of the high boiling point fuel may be a known method.
Δt2=Δt20×K1×K2×K3 …(6)
In Step 3, the basic injection suspension period Δt20 [msec] is calculated by searching a table having the contents shown in FIG. 11 from the content of the high boiling point fuel estimated as described above. In
Δt2 = Δt20 × K1 × K2 × K3 (6)
In other words, the injection stop period Δt2 is set by multiplying four values.
The basic injection suspension period Δt20 is adapted under the conditions of the reference carrier gas flow rate Qcar0, the reference catalyst temperature Tcat0, and the reference injection quantity Qf0, and as shown in FIG. The larger the value, the larger the value. The reason why the basic injection suspension period Δt20 is increased as the content of high-boiling fuel increases is that the amount of high-boiling fuel adsorbed on the adsorbent 3A increases as the content of high-boiling fuel increases. This is because desorption of the high boiling point fuel from 3A is difficult to proceed and removal of the high boiling point fuel covering the catalyst surface of the reforming
On the other hand, the carrier gas flow rate correction coefficient K1, the catalyst temperature correction coefficient K2, and the one-time injection amount correction coefficient K3 deviate from the conditions of the reference carrier gas flow rate Qcary0, the reference catalyst temperature Tcat0, and the reference one-time fuel injection amount Qf0. In this case, the injection stop period is given with high accuracy. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 12, the carrier gas flow rate correction coefficient K1 is 1.0 at the reference carrier gas flow rate Qcary0, and from 1.0 as the carrier gas flow rate Qcary increases from the reference carrier gas flow rate Qcary0. It is a positive value that becomes smaller and becomes larger than 1.0 as the carrier gas flow rate Qcary becomes smaller than the reference carrier gas flow rate Qcary0. This is because when the carrier gas flow rate Qcary is higher than the reference carrier gas flow rate Qcary0, the desorption of the high-boiling point fuel from the adsorbent 3A easily proceeds and the catalyst surface of the reforming
As shown in FIG. 13, the catalyst temperature correction coefficient K2 is 1.0 at the reference catalyst temperature Tcat0, and becomes smaller than 1.0 as the catalyst temperature Tcat becomes higher than the reference catalyst temperature Tcat0, and is also lower than the reference catalyst temperature Tcat0. The lower the catalyst temperature Tcat, the higher the positive value. This is because, when the catalyst temperature Tcat becomes higher than the reference catalyst temperature Tcat0, the high-boiling point fuel that tends to desorb the high-boiling point fuel from the adsorbent 3A and that covers the catalyst surface of the reforming
As shown in FIG. 14, the injection amount correction coefficient K3 is 1.0 at the reference injection amount Qf0, and from 1.0 as the injection amount Qf increases from the reference injection amount Qf0. It becomes a positive value that becomes larger and becomes smaller than 1.0 as the injection amount Qf per one time becomes smaller than the reference injection amount Qf0. This is because, when the injection amount Qf per injection increases from the standard injection amount Qf0, the desorption of the high-boiling point fuel from the adsorbent 3A is less likely to proceed, and the catalyst surface of the reforming
The carrier gas flow rate Qcar and the injection amount Qf per time are constant values in this embodiment, and are determined in advance by adaptation.
This completes the setting of the injection suspension period Δt2 at the time of refueling, so that the refueling flag is set to 0 in
Next, FIG. 15 is for controlling the operation and non-operation of the

If the end command flag = 1 in step 18, that is, if the end command is issued, the routine returns to step 11 and waits for the next fuel reforming.
Here, the effect of this embodiment is demonstrated.
According to the present embodiment (the invention described in claim 1), the reforming
According to the present embodiment (the invention described in claim 2), the reforming
Regardless of the high-boiling point fuel content, the injection stop period Δt2 is set, so that the previous one-time injection is executed out of the consecutive first and subsequent one-time injections (fuel injection in the first period). A situation occurs in which the subsequent injection is performed before all of the high-boiling point fuel (fuel that inhibits the chemical reaction by the reforming
According to this embodiment (the invention described in claim 7), when the content ratio of the high boiling point fuel is relatively large, the injection suspension period Δt2 is set longer than when the content ratio of the high boiling point fuel is relatively small. Therefore (see FIG. 6), it is possible to provide the optimal injection suspension period Δt2 according to the content ratio of the high boiling point fuel.
According to the present embodiment (the invention according to claim 8), when the flow rate of the fluid not containing the fuel component is relatively high, the injection suspension period is longer than when the flow rate of the fluid not containing the fuel component is relatively low. Since Δt2 is set short (see FIG. 7), an optimal injection stop period Δt2 corresponding to the flow rate of the fluid not containing the fuel component can be given.
According to the present embodiment (the invention described in claim 9), when the catalyst temperature of the reforming
According to this embodiment (the invention according to claim 10), when the injection amount per time (the fuel injection amount in the first period) is relatively large, the injection amount per time is relatively small Since the injection stop period Δt2 is set longer (see FIG. 9), the optimal injection stop period Δt2 corresponding to the injection amount per injection can be given.
In the embodiment, the case where the reforming catalyst is a reforming catalyst having the ability to generate hydrogen from at least a part of the fuel through a dehydrogenation reaction has been described. However, the reforming that reforms the fuel by a chemical reaction is described. The present invention is applicable to any catalyst.
In the embodiment, the case where the injection stop period (second period) is set based on the content ratio of the high boiling point fuel (fuel of the first fuel type) has been described, or the low boiling point fuel (fuel of the second fuel type) The injection stop period may be set based on the content ratio.
