Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a balun transformer.
Usually, a transmission line connected to an antenna or the like is an unbalanced transmission line, while a transmission line connected to a high-frequency circuit such as a semiconductor IC is a balanced transmission line. When connecting an unbalanced transmission line and a balanced transmission line, a balun transformer for converting an unbalanced signal and a balanced signal into each other is inserted between them. Here, the unbalanced signal refers to a single-ended signal based on a fixed potential (for example, ground potential), and the balanced signal refers to a differential signal.
As the balun transformer, a type using a glasses-type core as described in
FIG. 10 is a perspective view showing an example of a balun transformer using a drum core. FIG. 11 is a schematic diagram for explaining the connection relationship between the terminal electrodes and wires of the
As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, the
However, in the above conventional balun transformer, since it is necessary to provide an intermediate tap in the middle of the secondary winding, the primary winding and the secondary winding have different wire lengths. As a result, the primary winding and the secondary winding And the inductance is different. Since such an imbalance of inductance adversely affects the characteristics of the balun transformer, improvement is required.
Accordingly, one of the objects of the present invention is to provide a balun transformer that can improve the imbalance in inductance between the primary winding and the secondary winding.
In order to achieve the above object, a balun transformer according to the present invention is provided on a drum core having a winding core portion and a pair of flange portions provided at both ends of the winding core portion, and one of the pair of flange portions. First to third terminal electrodes; fourth to sixth terminal electrodes provided on the other of the pair of flanges; a first winding part wound around the core part; A first wire having first and second lead portions connecting the first winding portion and the first and sixth terminal electrodes, respectively, and a second winding wound around the winding core portion. A second wire having a winding part, and a third wire and a fourth lead part for connecting the second winding part and the second and fourth terminal electrodes, respectively, and winding around the core part A third winding portion, and fifth and sixth lead portions for connecting the third winding portion and the third and fifth terminal electrodes, respectively. And at least one of the first and second lead portions is a first straight line parallel to the magnetic core direction between the corresponding terminal electrode and the first winding portion. And at least one of the third to sixth lead portions includes a second linear portion that connects the corresponding winding portion and the terminal electrode at the shortest distance. .
According to the present invention, the wire lengths of the primary winding (first wire) and the secondary winding (second and third wires) can be made closer, so that the inductance of the primary winding and the secondary winding can be reduced. Imbalance can be improved.
In the balun transformer, both the first and second lead portions may include the first straight portion, and each of the third to sixth lead portions may include the second straight portion. . According to this, the wire lengths of the primary winding and the secondary winding can be made closer.
In each of the above balun transformers, the drum-type core may have a protrusion that holds the first straight portion parallel to the magnetic core direction. According to this, when the first wire and the terminal electrode are thermocompression bonded, it is possible to prevent the curve of the first wire from becoming slack and shortening the wire length of the primary winding.
In each of the balun transformers, at least a part of the third to sixth lead portions is bonded to the corresponding terminal electrode when viewed from the direction perpendicular to the substrate surface on which the balun transformer is installed. The part and the second straight line portion may be a continuous straight line. According to this, when performing the thermocompression bonding operation of the lead portion and the terminal electrode, it is not necessary to bend the lead portion in a direction parallel to the substrate surface, so that the work is simplified.
Thus, according to the present invention, it is possible to improve the imbalance in inductance between the primary winding and the secondary winding.
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a schematic perspective view showing the appearance of a
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
The plate-
As shown in FIG. 2, the wire L1 includes a winding portion L1a (first winding portion) wound around the winding
As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, all of the winding portions L1a, L2a, and L3a are wound clockwise from the
Here, the winding method of winding part L1a, L2a, L3a is demonstrated in detail. As shown in FIG. 3, the winding portions L1a, L2a, and L3a are wound in a two-layer structure. First, the winding part L1a is wound on the winding
In addition, let both ends of winding part L1a, L2a, L3a be a point which reaches a bottom face from the side surface of the winding
The lead portions L1b, L1c, L2b, L2c, L3b, and L3c are respectively connected to the terminal electrodes E1, E6, E2, E4, E3, and E5 by thermocompression bonding. By this connection, the connection relationship between the terminal electrode and the wire as shown in FIG. 4 is obtained. That is, the wire L1 constitutes a coil provided between the terminal electrodes E1 and E6, the wire L2 constitutes a coil provided between the terminal electrodes E2 and E4, and the wire L3 is provided between the terminal electrodes E3 and E5. Constitute a coil.
Next, FIG. 5 is a plan view of the printed

With such a layout, the unbalanced transmission line PL can be formed linearly in the direction of the arrow A when viewed from the mounting
FIG. 6 is a diagram showing an equivalent circuit of the
As shown in FIG. 6, the wire L1 constitutes the primary winding P1 of the
Now, the present invention has a feature for making the wire lengths of the primary winding P1 and the secondary winding P2 close to each drawing portion. Hereinafter, this feature will be described with reference to FIG. 2 again.
First, for the primary winding P1, linear portions L1bs and L1cs (first linear portions) parallel to the magnetic core direction (x direction) are provided in the lead portions L1b and L1c, respectively, in order to make the wire length as long as possible. The straight portions L1bs and L1cs are provided between the terminal electrodes E1 and E6 and the winding portion L1a (not including the portion bonded to the terminal electrode), but are preferably as long as possible. By doing so, it becomes possible to make the line length of the primary winding P1 as long as possible. In addition, it is good also as providing a 1st linear part only in either one of drawer | drawing-out part L1b and L1c.
The
Next, with regard to the secondary winding P2, in order to make the wire length as short as possible, the corresponding winding portions and terminal electrodes (ends on the
Of the lead portions L2b, L2c, L3b, and L3c, the lead portions L2b and L3b have corresponding terminal electrodes when viewed from the z direction shown in FIG. 1 (direction perpendicular to the substrate surface; depth direction in FIG. 2). The portion to be bonded to the second straight portion is a continuous straight line. That is, the lead portions L2b and L3b are connected to the corresponding terminal electrodes from the end portions of the corresponding winding portions without bending at all except in the z direction. Thereby, when performing the thermocompression bonding operation of the extraction portion and the terminal electrode, it is not necessary to bend the extraction portion in the z direction, so that the operation is facilitated. On the other hand, in the lead portions L2c and L3c, as shown in FIG. 2, the portion bonded to the corresponding terminal electrode and the second straight portion are not a single straight line as viewed from the z direction. . This is because the distance between the winding part and the terminal electrode is too short, and when the distance is sufficient, it is preferable to make the same as the lead parts L2b and L3b.
FIG. 7 is a schematic diagram for easily explaining the difference in line length by providing the first and second straight portions. In the drawing, an extraction portion Lx that connects the end B of the winding portion and the terminal electrode E, and an extraction portion Ly that similarly connects the end B of the winding portion and the terminal electrode E are shown. Actually, it is impossible to connect a plurality of lead lines to one end B, but here, this is done for the sake of explanation.
The lead portion Lx is provided with a first straight portion Lxs parallel to the magnetic core direction (x direction). On the other hand, the lead portion Ly is provided with a second straight portion Lys that connects the end portion B and the terminal electrode E at the shortest distance. As is apparent from FIG. 7, Lx is longer than Ly. Further, the length of the lead portion Lx becomes longer as the straight portion Lxs becomes longer.
As described above, according to the

When the wires L1 to L3 are thermocompression bonded to the terminal electrodes E1 to E6, the wires L1 to L3 need to be appropriately bent so as to have a shape as shown in FIGS. By providing the
As mentioned above, although preferable embodiment of this invention was described, this invention is not limited to such embodiment at all, and this invention can be implemented in various aspects in the range which does not deviate from the summary. Of course.
For example, in the above-described embodiment, the turns ratio of the primary winding and the secondary winding is 1: 1, but the present invention can also be applied when one of the turns is larger than the other. It is. In such a case, although the wire lengths of the primary winding and the secondary winding are naturally different, there is a preferable wire length ratio for balancing the inductances of the primary winding and the secondary winding. According to the present invention, the line length ratio between the primary winding and the secondary winding can be brought close to this preferable line length ratio.
