Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a connector and a method for manufacturing the connector. In particular, the present invention relates to a technique for improving the positional accuracy of a terminal fitting in a connector in which a terminal fitting and a resin housing are integrally formed.
As a conventional technique of this type of connector, the technique of Patent Document 1 is known. The connector of Patent Document 1 includes a plurality of terminal fittings, a first molded body made of resin that integrates these terminal fittings, and a second molded body made of resin that covers the first molded body. The first molded body is provided with a sealing agent filling recess on the end surface from which the terminal fitting protrudes. A fitting recess into which the mating connector can be fitted is formed in the second molded body.
When manufacturing this connector, first, a terminal fitting is inserted into a mold to form a first molded body. Next, the sealing agent filling recess of the first molded body is filled and solidified. Next, the second molded body is molded by inserting the first molded body filled and solidified with the sealing agent into the mold.
In the connector of Patent Document 1, when the second molded body is molded, the pressure of the resin injected into the mold acts on the first molded body. Since the first molded body does not have a shape that releases the pressure of the resin injected into the mold, a large pressure acts on the first molded body. When a large pressure acts on the first molded body, the first molded body may move or deform in the mold. When the first molded body moves or deforms, the position of the terminal fitting is shifted from a desired position.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and provides a technique for preventing the position of the terminal fitting from deviating from a desired position in a connector in which the terminal fitting and the resin housing are integrally formed. The purpose is to do.
In order to solve the above-described problems, a connector according to the present invention is a connector in which a terminal fitting and a resin housing are integrally formed, and includes a plurality of terminal fittings, a first resin portion, and a second resin portion. Have. The first resin portion integrates a plurality of terminal fittings. The second resin part covers the surface of the first resin part. And in the state which the several terminal metal fitting integrated with the 1st resin part, the penetration space penetrated from one surface to the other surface is formed, and the outline of the penetration space is formed by the first resin part and the terminal metal fitting. Is formed.
This connector can be suitably manufactured by insert molding. When a connector is manufactured by insert molding, first, a plurality of terminal fittings are inserted into a first mold to form a first resin portion (hereinafter, a plurality of terminal fittings and a first resin portion are integrated). It is called a primary molded body). Next, the first molded body is inserted into the second mold to mold the second resin portion.
When this connector is manufactured by the above method, a through space penetrating from one surface to the other surface is formed in the primary molded body. And since the outline of this penetration space is formed by the 1st resin part and a terminal metal fitting, compared with providing a penetration hole in the 1st resin part and a terminal metal fitting, a large penetration space can be formed easily. . For this reason, when molding the second resin portion, the resin can flow from one surface to the other surface through the large through space. Thereby, the pressure which acts on a primary molded object can be reduced significantly. Since the pressure acting on the primary molded body can be reduced, the positional shift and deformation of the first molded body can be prevented, and the positional accuracy of the terminal fitting can be improved.
In this connector, the through space is preferably formed by dividing a gap between adjacent terminal fittings by the first resin portion. According to this configuration, since the through space is formed using the gap between the terminal fittings, the through space can be easily formed.
When the first space (the space on the front surface side of the second resin portion) and the second space (the space on the back surface side of the second resin portion) are partitioned using the connector, the second space is changed from the first space to the second space. There are times when it is desired to prevent passage of moisture or the like from the space or the second space to the first space. When at least a part of the plurality of terminal fittings penetrates from the front surface side to the back surface side of the second resin portion, a gap is formed between the terminal fitting and the resin portion (first resin portion and second resin portion). In addition, a gap may be formed between the first resin portion and the second resin portion. If a gap is formed between them, moisture or the like passes through the gap from the first space to the second space or from the second space to the first space. Therefore, in the above case, each of the terminal fittings having at least one end penetrating the surface side of the second resin portion among the plurality of terminal fittings is an end portion penetrating the surface side of the second resin portion of the terminal fitting. It is preferable that each has a portion that is fixed to the second resin portion via a sealing agent over the entire circumference. Alternatively, each of the terminal fittings having at least one end penetrating the back surface side of the second resin portion among the plurality of terminal fittings has an entire circumference on each of the end portions penetrating the back surface side of the second resin portion of the terminal fitting. It is preferable to have a part that adheres to the second resin part through the sealing agent.
According to this structure, the clearance gap between a terminal metal fitting and a 2nd resin part is sealed with a sealing agent in the surface side or back surface side of a 1st resin part. For this reason, even if a gap is formed between the first resin part and the second resin part, or even if a gap is formed between the resin part and the terminal fitting, from the front side to the back side of the second resin part, or It is possible to prevent moisture and the like from entering from the back side to the front side.
When the gap between the terminal fitting and the second resin portion is sealed on the front surface side of the first resin portion, a sealant may be applied to the end portion penetrating to the back surface side of the terminal fitting, or the seal It is not necessary to apply the agent. Further, when the gap between the terminal fitting and the second resin portion is sealed on the back surface side of the first resin portion, a sealing agent may be applied to the end portion penetrating to the surface side of the terminal fitting, or the seal It is not necessary to apply the agent.
In this connector, when the connector is cut into a cross section orthogonal to one surface of the first resin portion at the position where the first resin portion is provided, the thickness of the second resin portion in contact with one surface of the first resin portion It is preferable that each of the thicknesses of the second resin portion in contact with the other surface is thinner than the thickness of the first resin portion. According to this configuration, the amount of resin in the second resin portion can be reduced, and the entire connector can be reduced in weight.
According to the present invention, in a connector in which a plurality of terminal fittings and a resin housing are integrally formed, the positional accuracy of the plurality of terminal fittings can be improved.

The

The
As shown in FIG. 3, the
In a state where the
3 and 4, the thickness of the
FIG. 5 shows a cross-sectional view of the
Next, a procedure for forming the

As already described, the

In the embodiment described above, deformation due to thermal contraction of the first resin portion is suppressed. Further, by forming the through

In the first embodiment described above, the sealing

(Third embodiment)
