Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a printer apparatus that performs desired printing on a print medium by ejecting ink from nozzles formed on the printer head, and a maintenance method for the printer head.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a printer device (inkjet printer) that performs printing by ejecting ink from nozzles formed on the lower surface of a printer head while causing the printer head to move relative to the print medium and attaching the ink to the print medium in a desired pattern )It has been known. For example, UV curable ink that is cured by being irradiated with ultraviolet light (hereinafter referred to as UV ink) is ejected from the nozzles, and the printing medium to which the UV ink is attached is irradiated with ultraviolet light. There is also a configuration in which printing is performed after curing. As a printer apparatus that performs printing using this UV ink, for example, a configuration is known in which a printer head and an ultraviolet light source that emits ultraviolet light are mounted on the same carriage and moved relative to a print medium.
In the printer apparatus, the ultraviolet light emitted from the ultraviolet light source may be reflected on the surface of the print medium and irradiate the lower surface (nozzle surface) of the printer head. The viscosity of the UV ink increases, for example, it hardens into a gel (hereinafter referred to as thickened ink), and it becomes difficult to discharge the UV ink straight from the nozzle. Furthermore, the thickened ink may adhere so as to block the nozzle. In this case, the UV ink may not be ejected from the nozzle. In particular, when the vertical distance between the ultraviolet light source and the printing medium is set large, the reflected ultraviolet light is likely to be irradiated onto the nozzle surface, and the above problem is likely to occur.
9A to 9C schematically show a process of removing the thickened ink adhering to the nozzle surface using the wiper member described above. FIG. 9 illustrates a conventional method in which the thickened
The present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and provides a printer device capable of removing thickened ink adhering to a nozzle surface without being pushed into the nozzle and ejecting the ink straight from the nozzle. With the goal. It is another object of the present invention to provide a printer head maintenance method that uses this printer device to remove thickened ink adhering to the nozzle surface without being pushed into the nozzle.
In order to achieve the above object, a printer apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a medium support means (for example, a vacuum table 12a in the embodiment) for supporting a print medium, and a reciprocating movement above the medium support means. A negative pressure generator that is provided at a position vertically opposite to the printer head having a nozzle for discharging ink toward the bottom surface and the printer head located near the end position in the reciprocating direction. Means (for example, the
In the printer apparatus, it is preferable that the operation control unit ejects ink from the nozzle when wiping the lower surface with the wiping unit.
Further, in the printer apparatus, when the printing by the printer apparatus is finished, it is preferable that the operation control means covers the nozzle by the suction maintenance means and sucks ink remaining in the nozzle.
In order to achieve the above object, the maintenance method for a printer head according to the present invention moves relative to the print medium while reciprocating above the print medium, and ejects ink from the nozzles formed on the lower surface to the print medium. A maintenance method for the printer head in a printer apparatus having a printer head that performs printing, wherein suction maintenance means that operates negative pressure generating means for generating negative pressure to suck ink remaining in the nozzles A first step of sucking ink remaining in the nozzle in a state where the nozzle is covered in proximity to the lower surface, and generation of negative pressure by the negative pressure generating means is stopped and discharged from the nozzle. A second step in which the adhering ink causes the suction maintenance means close to the lower surface to eject ink from the nozzle. And wiping means provided on the side of the suction maintenance means is moved in the reciprocating direction in a state in which the wiping means is in contact with the lower surface to wipe the lower surface. With.
In the printer device according to the present invention, in a state where the suction maintenance unit is covered in the vicinity of the nozzle, the ink is ejected from the nozzle and adhered to the suction maintenance unit, and then the lower surface of the printer head is brought into contact with the wiping unit. Configured to wipe. Therefore, for example, when thickened ink is attached to the lower surface of the printer head, the ink attached to the above-described suction maintenance means comes into contact with the thickened ink and covers the periphery of the thickened ink. It is possible to weaken the adhesion of the thickened ink to the lower surface of the head. Therefore, the wiping means is brought into contact with the wiping means in such a state that the adhesive force of the thickened ink is weakened, so that the thickened ink can be removed without being pushed into the nozzle, and the ink is ejected straight from the nozzle. It becomes possible.
Further, it is preferable that the operation control means controls to eject ink from the nozzles when wiping is performed by the wiping means. In such a configuration, since the ink is discharged downward from the nozzle, it is possible to reliably prevent the thickened ink or the like from being pushed into the nozzle during wiping.
When the printing by the printer device is finished, the operation control means preferably sucks the ink remaining in the nozzle by the suction maintenance means. With this configuration, when printing is finished, for example, by sucking the thickened ink together with the ink in the nozzle, the operation of the printer apparatus can be stopped in a state where the thickened ink does not exist in the nozzle. . Therefore, for example, it is possible to suppress the ink in the nozzles from gradually curing due to the influence of the thickened ink while printing by the printer device is not performed. Therefore, when printing by the printer device is started next time, the thickened ink is not mixed in the nozzle, and the ink can be ejected straight from the nozzle.
In the printer head maintenance method according to the present invention, the nozzle is covered by the suction maintenance means between the first step of sucking the ink remaining in the nozzle and the third step of wiping the lower surface of the printer head. A second step of ejecting ink from the nozzles in a state and attaching the ink to a position close to the lower surface of the printer head in the suction maintenance means. For this reason, for example, even when the thickened ink is attached to the lower surface of the printer head with a relatively large adhesion force, the ink close to the lower surface of the printer head is transmitted to the thickened ink and covers the periphery thereof. Therefore, it is possible to weaken the adhesion of the thickened ink to the lower surface of the printer head. Immediately after this state is reached, wiping is performed by bringing the wiping means into contact, so that the thickened ink can be reliably peeled off from the lower surface of the printer head.
Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. For convenience of explanation, the arrow directions shown in the drawings will be referred to as front and rear, left and right, and top and bottom, respectively. FIG. 2 shows an example of an inkjet printer to which the present invention is applied. The printer head is moved in two orthogonal directions (X-axis-Y-axis) in a horizontal plane with respect to a print medium fixedly held on a table. The perspective view which looked at the inkjet printer 1 which performs this printing from diagonally forward is shown. 1 is a perspective view of the vicinity of a printing unit 60 (to be described later) constituting the inkjet printer 1, and FIG. 3 shows a state in which a
As shown in FIG. 2, the ink jet printer 1 mainly includes a

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, the

The wiping
The constituent members of the ink jet printer 1 have been described above. A maintenance method for the
During normal printing, the inkjet printer 1 uses the UV ink downward from the
As described above, when printing is performed by discharging UV ink from the
Hereinafter, maintenance of the lower surface of the
The maintenance is performed, for example, when the operator determines that maintenance of the lower surface of the
Subsequently, the process proceeds to step 2 where the
Proceeding to step 3, the
For example, when UV ink (thickened ink) that is slightly cured is mixed in the
Subsequently, the process proceeds to step 4 where a small amount of
Proceeding to step 5, with the
Therefore, the thickened
By the way, the
It should be noted that during the wiping operation control may be performed so that wiping is executed while discharging UV ink from the
In general, when the scheduled printing by the inkjet printer 1 is completed, the main power supply (not shown) of the inkjet printer 1 is turned off with the UV ink remaining in the
Therefore, in the inkjet printer 1 to which the present invention is applied, when the main power supply is turned off, the power is turned off after the replacement operation of replacing the UV ink in the
For example, when the scheduled printing is finished, the main power supply of the inkjet printer 1 is turned off by the operator. At this time, instead of immediately turning off the power of the inkjet printer 1 and stopping the operation of each component, the
