Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell.
A technique for integrating a separator, a diffusion layer, and a breathable layer by injection molding of a gasket when manufacturing a fuel cell is known (Patent Document 1).
However, in the prior art, the flow of the reaction gas at the outer edge of the breathable layer has not been considered. Since the reaction gas flowing in the outer edge portion of the breathable layer hardly contributes to power generation, there is a problem that the power generation efficiency of the fuel cell cannot be improved when a large amount of reaction gas flows in the outer edge portion.
An object of the present invention is to solve at least one of the above problems and to improve the power generation efficiency of a fuel cell.
In order to solve at least a part of the above problems, the present invention takes the following aspects.
A first aspect of the present invention is a fuel cell including one battery unit or a plurality of stacked battery units. The battery unit includes a membrane electrode assembly, a plurality of breathable layers arranged separately on both sides of the membrane electrode assembly, and a multilayer structure including the membrane electrode assembly and the plurality of breathable layers. And a seal gasket formed by injection molding on the outer edge of the air-permeable layer, and the outer edge of the first air-permeable layer of the plurality of air-permeable layers meanders. Have According to this aspect, the flow of gas that does not contribute to the reaction can be suppressed, and the power generation efficiency of the fuel cell can be improved.
In the first aspect of the present invention, the meandering outer edge may be an outer edge parallel to the direction in which the reaction gas flows through the gas permeable layer. According to this aspect, the flow of gas that does not contribute to the reaction can be suppressed, and the power generation efficiency of the fuel cell can be improved.
In the first aspect of the present invention, a part of the outer edge of the first breathable layer may be extended outward from the outer edge of the second breathable layer adjacent to the first breathable layer. According to this aspect, the air-permeable layer is easily impregnated with the seal gasket material when the seal gasket is formed. As a result, the flow of gas that does not contribute to the reaction can be suppressed, and the power generation efficiency of the fuel cell can be improved.
In the first aspect of the present invention, at least a part of the remaining portion of the outer edge of the first air-permeable layer may retreat inward from the outer edge of the second air-permeable layer. According to this aspect, the flow of gas that does not contribute to the reaction can be further suppressed, and the power generation efficiency of the fuel cell can be further improved.
In the first aspect of the present invention, the first air permeable layer and the second air permeable layer may be in contact with each other. According to this aspect, the seal gasket material is easily impregnated with the breathable layer.
In the first aspect of the present invention, the first breathable layer may be located between the second breathable layer and the separator. According to this aspect, since the first air-permeable layer closer to the separator is expanded outward, it is easy to support the second air-permeable layer far from the separator.
In the first aspect of the present invention, each outer edge of the plurality of air permeable layers may be monotonously expanded outward without retreating at least in a part. According to this aspect, since the outer edge is monotonously expanded outward without retreating from the far side to the near side from the separator in at least a part of the breathable layer, the breathable layer is positioned far from the separator. It is easy to support the breathable layer arranged in the.
In the first aspect of the present invention, the first breathable layer and the second breathable layer may be the same material. The first breathable layer and the second breathable layer may have the same rigidity. The first breathable layer and the second breathable layer may have the same porosity. The first breathable layer and the second breathable layer may be layers having the same function. The first gas permeable layer and the second gas permeable layer may be porous layers.
In addition, this invention can be implement | achieved with various forms, for example, can be implement | achieved with various forms, such as the arrangement | positioning method of an air permeable layer, the formation method of a seal gasket other than a fuel cell.
First embodiment:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing the appearance of the fuel cell according to the first embodiment. The
FIG. 2 is a plan view schematically showing the configuration of the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
The cathode side
The
As shown in FIG. 3, the
First, the outer edge size of the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 4, the outer edge of the anode-side
When forming the
FIG. 6 is an explanatory diagram for explaining the flow of the reaction gas flowing in the anode-side
In the anode
FIG. 7 is an explanatory diagram for explaining the flow of the reaction gas flowing in the anode-side
In the anode-side
FIG. 8 is an explanatory view showing an anode-side
Thus, in the above-described embodiments and modifications, the outer edge of the anode-side
Moreover, in the said Example and modification, as shown in FIG. 3, four air permeable layers 240,220,230,250 are a staircase in the one part (position of the 3-3 cutting line of FIG. 2). It has a shape configuration. As a result, as will be described below, there is an advantage that the multilayer structure constituted by these air-permeable layers and the
FIG. 9 is an explanatory view showing a comparative example in which the four air-permeable layers are not configured in a step shape. In the comparative example shown in FIG. 9, the outer edge of the anode-side
However, in the present embodiment, a part of the outer edge of the anode side
In the above-described embodiments and modifications, the outer edge of the anode-side
In the above description, the example in which the anode is located on the

In the above-described embodiments and modifications, only the outer edge (side) of one air-permeable layer (anode-side gas diffusion layer 230) is formed in a meandering shape. It may be formed in a meandering shape. In other words, it is preferable that the outer edge of at least one of the plurality of breathable layers is formed in a meandering shape.
Furthermore, in the said Example and modification, although the shape meandered by the bending of a straight line (line segment) was formed, you may form the shape meandering in a curve shape. Further, the meandering shape is not limited to a regular meandering shape, and an irregularly meandering shape may be employed. However, the shape meandering regularly is preferable to the shape meandering irregularly from the viewpoint of easy impregnation of the sealing material and ease of supporting other layers on the upper side.
