Abstract
Description
本出願は、参照により本明細書に組み込まれている、番号がまだ割り当てられていない、2004年10月19日に出願された「BLENDED OUTER SHELL FABRICS」という表題の米国特許出願の優先権を主張するものである。
消防士は、一般には、通常業界で防火服と呼ばれる防護服を着用する。防火服は、通常、例えば、カバーオール、ズボン、および上衣を含む、さまざまな衣服を含む。これらの衣服は、通常、例えば、着用者を火炎から防護するアウターシェル、衣服への水の進入を防ぐ防湿層、および着用者を極端な高温から絶縁する断熱層、を含む素材の複数の層を備える。

前述したように、性能が改善された比較的安価なアウターシェル織物を実現できることが望ましいであろう。以下で説明されるように、このような結果は、本質的難燃性繊維のある種の混紡で得られる。例えば、このような混紡の1つは、パラアラミド繊維、メタアラミド繊維、およびポリベンゾオキサゾール(PBO)繊維の混紡を含む。以下でさらに詳しく説明されるように、このような混紡は、比較的低いコストで予想外に望ましい物理特性を示す。

Claims (28)
- 消防士防火服で使用するためのアウターシェル織物であって、
少なくとも3つの異なる種類の本質的難燃性繊維を含む複数の糸を含むアウターシェル織物。 - 3つの異なる種類の前記本質的難燃性繊維が、パラアラミド繊維、メタアラミド繊維、およびポリベンゾオキサゾール(PBO)繊維を含む、請求項1に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- 約40%から約70%までのパラアラミド、約10%から約40%までのメタアラミド、および約5%から約30%までのポリベンゾオキサゾール(PBO)を含む、請求項1に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- 約60%のパラアラミド、約20%のメタアラミド、および約20%のポリベンゾオキサゾール(PBO)を含む、請求項1に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- リップストップ織を含む、請求項1に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- 前記リップストップ織が、2端リップストップ織である、請求項5に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- 前記糸が、約10〜35ccの範囲内の糸番手を有する、請求項1に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- 重量が、約5オンス/平方ヤードから約10オンス/平方ヤードまでである、請求項1に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- NFPA 1971、2000年版で定義されている熱保護性能(TPP)試験方法による7秒間の曝露の後、経糸方向の引張強度は200ポンドを超え、緯糸方向の引張強度は175ポンドを超える、請求項1に記載のアウターシェル織物。
- 消防士防火服で使用するのに好適な織物であって、
本質的難燃性繊維の混紡を含み、前記混紡は、
複数のパラアラミド繊維と、
複数のメタアラミド繊維と、
複数のポリベンゾオキサゾール(PBO)繊維とを含む織物。 - 約40%から約70%までのパラアラミド繊維、約10%から約40%までのメタアラミド繊維、および約5%から約30%までのPBO繊維を含む、請求項10に記載の織物。
- 約60%のパラアラミド繊維、約20%のメタアラミド繊維、および約20%のポリベンゾオキサゾール(PBO)繊維を含む、請求項10に記載の織物。
- リップストップ織を含む、請求項10に記載の織物。
- 前記リップストップ織が、2端リップストップ織である、請求項13に記載の織物。

- 前記アウターシェル織物は、約60%のパラアラミド繊維、約20%のメタアラミド繊維、および約20%のポリベンゾオキサゾール(PBO)繊維を含む、請求項19に記載の防火服。
