Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine.
A technique is known in which an NOx storage reduction catalyst (hereinafter simply referred to as a NOx catalyst) is disposed in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine. The NOx catalyst stores NOx in the exhaust when the oxygen concentration of the inflowing exhaust gas is high, and reduces the stored NOx when the oxygen concentration of the inflowing exhaust gas decreases and a reducing agent is present. Then, by adding fuel to the exhaust gas upstream of the NOx catalyst, NOx stored in the NOx catalyst can be reduced.
In order to reduce NOx in this way, the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the NOx catalyst due to fuel addition or the like must be made a rich air-fuel ratio. Here, when the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas before fuel addition is a lean air-fuel ratio, the fuel that is reduced from the lean air-fuel ratio to the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio does not participate in NOx reduction. That is, when a large amount of lean air-fuel ratio exhaust gas flows into the NOx catalyst, more fuel that does not contribute to NOx reduction must be added, resulting in a deterioration in fuel consumption. Further, when the exhaust gas flow rate increases, the fuel easily passes through the NOx catalyst.
On the other hand, if fuel is added when the flow rate of the exhaust gas is small, the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas is small, so that the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas can be made rich with a smaller amount of fuel, and further fuel slippage can be suppressed. .
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems, and provides a technique capable of further increasing efficiency when supplying a reducing agent to an exhaust purification catalyst in an exhaust purification device of an internal combustion engine. For the purpose.
In order to achieve the above object, an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention employs the following means. That is, the exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention is
An exhaust purification catalyst provided in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine for purifying exhaust;
Reducing agent supply means for supplying a reducing agent into the exhaust gas upstream of the exhaust purification catalyst;
A turbocharger having a turbine in the middle of the exhaust passage;
Exhaust storage means for storing exhaust;
An exhaust introduction path connecting the exhaust passage upstream of the turbine and the exhaust storage means;
An exhaust introduction amount adjusting means for causing exhaust to flow through the exhaust introduction path and storing the exhaust in the exhaust storage means when the state of the exhaust flowing through the exhaust passage is a predetermined state;
An exhaust supply means for supplying exhaust from the exhaust storage means to the exhaust passage when the reducing agent is supplied by the reducing agent supply means;
It is characterized by providing.
The exhaust purification catalyst purifies exhaust by supplying a reducing agent from the reducing agent supply means, or recovers the exhaust purification capability.
Here, if a turbocharger having a turbine is provided in the middle of the exhaust passage, the pressure on the upstream side (that is, the internal combustion engine side) of the turbine becomes higher than the pressure on the downstream side (that is, the atmospheric side). That is, there is a pressure difference between the upstream side and the downstream side of the turbine. This pressure difference increases as the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine increases or the load increases.
That is, since the pressure of the exhaust gas is likely to rise upstream from the turbine, the exhaust gas can be easily introduced into the exhaust gas storage means by connecting the exhaust gas introduction path to the upstream side. “The exhaust state is a predetermined state” means that, for example, a temperature condition for evaporating the reducing agent is satisfied, or a pressure condition for causing the reducing agent to reach the exhaust purification catalyst is satisfied. Say.
The exhaust gas in such a predetermined state is stored by the exhaust gas storage means and supplied to the exhaust passage in accordance with the supply of the reducing agent from the reducing agent supply means. Thus, the reducing agent can reach the exhaust purification catalyst on the flow of exhaust from the exhaust storage means. The reducing agent may be supplied by the reducing agent supply means during low load operation or deceleration of the internal combustion engine. In such a state, since the pressure in the exhaust passage becomes low, it becomes easy to discharge the exhaust from the exhaust storage means to the exhaust passage.
Since the exhaust gas is stored in the exhaust gas storage means, evaporation of the reducing agent can be promoted by the heat of the exhaust gas. Further, by supplying exhaust gas, the reducing agent can be distributed and supplied to the entire exhaust gas purification apparatus. Furthermore, by using the exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine, the oxygen concentration can be lowered as compared with the case of using air, so that the supply amount of the reducing agent can be reduced.
In the present invention, further comprising a throttle for adjusting the passage area of the intake passage of the internal combustion engine,
When the exhaust gas is supplied by the exhaust gas supply means, the throttle opening can be made smaller than when the exhaust gas is not supplied.
Here, the larger the throttle opening, the greater the flow rate of the exhaust gas, and the greater the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas. Therefore, more reducing agent must be supplied in order to reduce the concentration of reducing agent in the exhaust. In contrast, the amount of reducing agent supplied can be reduced by reducing the opening of the throttle.
In the present invention, the exhaust supply means connects the exhaust passage downstream of the turbine and upstream of the exhaust purification catalyst and the exhaust storage means, and discharges the gas in the exhaust storage means to the exhaust passage. And an exhaust discharge passage.
By connecting the exhaust discharge path to a location where the pressure downstream of the turbine is lower in this way, the exhaust can be easily released from the exhaust storage means. That is, the exhaust gas can be discharged more quickly from the exhaust gas storage means by utilizing the pressure difference between the upstream side and the downstream side of the turbine.
Further, by providing the exhaust introduction path and the exhaust discharge path, respectively, the responsiveness can be further improved as compared with the case where the introduction and release of the exhaust gas are performed in one passage.
In the present invention, it is possible to provide storage prohibiting means for prohibiting the exhaust storage means from storing exhaust gas for a predetermined time after the internal combustion engine shifts from steady operation to transient operation.
Here, during the transient operation of the internal combustion engine, it is desired to quickly increase the rotational speed of the turbine. However, when the exhaust gas is taken into the exhaust gas storage means from the exhaust passage, the amount of exhaust gas that passes through the turbine decreases, so that the rotational speed of the turbine is difficult to increase. On the other hand, by prohibiting the exhaust gas storage means from storing the exhaust gas for a predetermined period after the transition to the transient operation, the amount of exhaust gas passing through the turbine can be increased during that period, so that it is quicker. Acceleration is possible. That is, the predetermined time can be determined according to the required acceleration performance.
In the present invention, the exhaust gas supply means can supply the exhaust gas stored in the exhaust gas storage means to an exhaust passage upstream of the reducing agent supply means.
That is, by supplying the exhaust gas stored in the exhaust gas storage means upstream of the reducing agent supply means, the reducing agent can be put on the exhaust flow, so that the reducing agent can easily reach the exhaust purification catalyst. Can do. The exhaust passage upstream of the reducing agent supply means may be an exhaust passage upstream of the range in which the reducing agent is supplied from the reducing agent supply means.
In the present invention, the reducing agent supply means is disposed in the flow of the exhaust before flowing into the exhaust passage from the exhaust storage means, and the supply direction of the reducing agent from the reducing agent supply means is the exhaust storage means. The reducing agent supply means can be arranged in the downstream direction of the exhaust gas supplied from the exhaust gas to the exhaust passage.
By doing so, since the reducing agent can be supplied into the exhaust gas having a high flow velocity when flowing from the exhaust gas storage means into the exhaust passage, evaporation of the reducing agent can be promoted. Moreover, a reducing agent can be put on the flow of exhaust from the exhaust storage means. A reducing agent supply means may be arranged in the middle of the exhaust discharge path.
In the present invention, the reducing agent supply means can supply the reducing agent after the exhaust gas supplied from the exhaust gas storage means to the exhaust passage reaches the reducing agent supply means.
By doing so, the reducing agent can be supplied into the flow of exhaust gas supplied from the exhaust gas storage means to the exhaust passage, so that the reducing agent can be more reliably placed in the exhaust gas flow.
In the present invention, the exhaust gas supply means can supply exhaust gas from the exhaust gas storage means to the exhaust passage until the reducing agent supplied from the reducing agent supply means reaches the exhaust gas purification catalyst.
In this way, more reducing agent supplied from the reducing agent supply means can reach the exhaust purification catalyst.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the efficiency at the time of supplying a reducing agent to an exhaust gas purification catalyst can be made higher.
Hereinafter, specific embodiments of an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of an internal combustion engine 1 to which an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to this embodiment is applied and its intake / exhaust passage. The internal combustion engine 1 shown in FIG. 1 is a four-cycle diesel engine having four cylinders 2.

Further, the exhaust gas may be stored in the
When the exhaust gas is stored in the
Here, by connecting the

In general, even when the

It differs from Example 1 in the following points.

Since other hardware is the same as that of the first embodiment, description thereof is omitted.

Here, by connecting the
In this way, the discharge

Then, by adjusting the volume of the
Furthermore, according to the present embodiment, the
