Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel reformer that performs steam reforming of hydrocarbon gas, which is a raw fuel, and more particularly to a steam reformer that is used in combination with a fuel cell that generates electric power using reformed hydrogen.
In order to realize high energy efficiency, there is a fuel cell as a device that directly converts chemical energy of a fuel into electrical energy without passing through mechanical energy or thermal energy. As a well-known fuel cell, a pair of electrodes are arranged with an electrolyte layer in between, a fuel gas containing hydrogen is supplied to one electrode (anode side), and oxygen is contained in the other electrode (cathode side) There has been developed a method in which an electromotive force is obtained by supplying an oxidizing gas and utilizing an electrochemical reaction occurring between the two electrodes. Below, an equation representing an electrochemical reaction occurring in the fuel cell is shown. (1) represents the reaction on the anode side, (2) represents the reaction on the cathode side, and the reaction represented by the formula (3) proceeds in the entire fuel cell.

1 / 2O 2 + 2H + + 2e − → H 2 O (2)
H 2 + 1 / 2O 2 → H 2 O (3)
Fuel cells are classified into several types according to the electrolyte used. Among these fuel cells, solid polymer fuel cells, phosphoric acid fuel cells, molten carbonate fuel cells, etc. Therefore, it is possible to use oxidizing gas or carbon dioxide gas containing carbon dioxide. Usually, in these fuel cells, air is used as an oxidizing gas, and a gas containing hydrogen generated by steam reforming a hydrocarbon-based raw fuel such as natural gas in a reformer of a fuel reformer is used as a fuel gas. Used. In addition, since hydrocarbon-based raw fuels such as natural gas contain sulfur, the raw fuel is desulfurized by a desulfurizer provided in front of the reformer.
CH4+H2O→CO+3H2+206.14 KJ/mol………(4)
Equation (4) shows the reforming reaction of methane in the reformer.
CH 4 + H 2 O → CO + 3H 2 +206.14 KJ / mol (4)
As shown in Formula (4), the reforming reaction of methane is an endothermic reaction, so that after adding steam to methane, the granular reforming catalyst is made 600 to 600 by combustion exhaust gas in which fuel off-gas from the fuel cell is burned. A reforming reaction (steam reforming reaction) is performed by heating to 700 ° C. to generate a reformed gas rich in hydrogen.
The reformed gas exiting the reformer is supplied to the carbon monoxide converter to reduce the concentration of carbon monoxide in the reformed gas. In the carbon monoxide converter controlled at a predetermined temperature, When the carbon oxide concentration is reduced to 1% or less and the fuel cell is a phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC), power is generated by supplying this gas to the fuel electrode of the fuel cell.
FIG. 5 is a system diagram of a conventional fuel reformer. The fuel reformer 1 shown in FIG. 1 desulfurizes sulfur contained in raw fuel in a desulfurizer 2 filled with a desulfurization catalyst, and then supplies the raw fuel and reforming water after desulfurization to the
On the other hand, since the operating temperature of the polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) is as low as 60 to 80 ° C., when carbon monoxide is present in the reformed gas, it becomes a catalyst poison and deteriorates its performance. Therefore, in order to further reduce carbon monoxide, it is supplied to the carbon monoxide
Such a fuel reformer 1 has a reforming catalyst temperature of the
Conventionally, various measures have been taken to keep the temperature of each reactor (the
CO+3H2 → CH4+H20 ………(5)
CO2+4H2 → CH4+2H2O
By the way, when the carbon monoxide concentration is reduced to 10 ppm or less by the carbon monoxide selective oxidation reaction, carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the reformed gas may react to generate methane gas. Equation (5) shows the methanation reaction in the
CO + 3H 2 → CH 4 + H 2 0 (5)
CO 2 + 4H 2 → CH 4 + 2H 2 O
When the methanation reaction of Formula (5) occurs, the generated hydrogen is consumed, and the amount of hydrogen supplied to the battery decreases. In addition, water is generated by the reaction, and hydrogen and carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide are consumed to reduce the gas volume, so that a gas with a higher dew point than necessary is supplied to the battery. It becomes liquid water and may inhibit gas diffusion.
This reaction is likely to occur when the temperature in the
However, in the conventional cooling method described above, the reflux gas obtained by diverting a part of the cooled mixed gas is re-entered into the carbon monoxide selective oxidation unit to cool the catalyst (Patent Document 1), or reforming steam. Is supplied to the fuel gas outlet path of the carbon monoxide converter, the carbon monoxide converter and cooled (Patent Document 2), and the steam reforming process and the cooling structure are the same system When the catalyst layer of the carbon monoxide converter or the carbon monoxide selective oxidizer undergoes thermal runaway due to the formation of a steam reforming process for the thermal runaway catalyst layer There was a possibility that it was impossible to take measures such as cooling immediately after disconnecting from the machine.
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and can provide a cooling structure independent of the steam reforming process, and can reduce the temperature of the catalyst layer under any circumstances. An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel reformer that can be stopped quickly and safely without affecting the fuel efficiency.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing a cooling structure of a
In the present embodiment, a
An electromagnetic on-off
However, the present invention is not limited to such a configuration. For example, the first and second cooling devices are configured to supply cooling water to the first and
As described above, the

During normal operation, the cell off-gas discharged from the fuel cell without being used for the reaction is supplied as burner fuel to the burner

The high-temperature combustion exhaust gas generated by the combustion is discharged from the opening at the lower end of the

During the operation period of the
Cooling water is passed through the cooling
As described above, according to the present embodiment, water vapor is provided on the outer periphery of the catalyst layer of the

FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram showing an example of an arrangement relationship between the first and
By adopting such an arrangement relationship, the water level difference L1 between the cooling
Moreover, it can replace with the said electromagnetic opening-and-closing
In this way, by using a heat deformation on / off valve that operates by being deformed according to temperature instead of the electromagnetic on / off
