Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a polyalkylene biguanidine salt, and more specifically, production of a polyalkylene biguanidine salt capable of producing various polyalkylene biguanidine salts without requiring a high viscosity reactor and a toxic solvent. Regarding the method.
Since the early 1930s, research on the antibacterial ability of substituted guanidine and guanidine derivatives has been conducted. The antibacterial and antifungal abilities of guanidine derivatives are diverse, including medicine, crop storage and storage, industrial disinfectants, pool disinfectants, food factory disinfectants, antibacterial fibers, antibacterial daily products, and preservatives for eye drops. Has been studied in the field. In particular, active research has been conducted on polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride, which has been reported for its excellent antibacterial ability. For example, US Pat. Nos. 3,468,898, 4,022,834, 4,567,174, and 4,670,592 disclose antibacterial performance of biguanidine salts. U.S. Pat. Nos. 2,643,232 and 3,428,576 disclose a method for producing polyhexamethylene biguanidine hydrochloride.
In the method disclosed in US Pat. No. 2,643,232, a polyhexamethylene biguanidine salt is obtained by polymerizing bis-dicyandiamide and diamine or diamine salt. To manufacture. However, this method requires a preliminary step for producing bis-dicyandiamide. More specifically, one of the reactants, hexamethylene bisdicyanamide, reacts with hexamethylenediamine dihydrochloride and sodium dicyanamide in the presence of butanol solvent. It is necessary to filter the product of the preliminary process before use. Another problem with this method is that hexamethylene bisdicyandiamide and hexamethylene diamine dihydrochloride exist in a solid state at room temperature, and it is necessary to grind the compound to increase the reaction efficiency. Is inappropriate.
In order to solve such problems, US Pat. No. 3,428,576 discloses a method for producing a polyhexamethylene biguanidine salt using an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution as a reactant and a solvent. Yes. In this method, sodium dicyanamide and hexamethylenediamine react with an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution. This reaction proceeds while removing water. After the reaction is complete, the reaction product is dissolved in methanol and the NaCl byproduct is removed by precipitation. Next, the reaction product is heated to remove methanol to obtain the final product, polyhexamethylene biguanidine hydrochloride. However, this method requires too long a reaction time and the reactor must be maintained in a vacuum. Furthermore, in this method, NaCl by-product produced by the progress of the reaction increases the viscosity of the reactant. This prevents the reaction mixture from being stirred in a typical reactor. This reaction must therefore be carried out in a specially designed reactor such as a high viscosity reactor. This reaction also requires a toxic solvent such as methanol and an additional heating step to remove methanol to remove NaCl by-products, and the reactor is in a vacuum state to increase methanol removal efficiency. Must be maintained at. In addition, this method has a drawback that only polyhexamethylene biguanidine hydrochloride can be produced.
The objective of this invention is providing the manufacturing method of the polyalkylene biguanidine salt which does not require a high viscosity reactor by preventing the viscosity of a polymer rising too much.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a polyalkylene biguanidine salt which can obtain a final product polyalkylene biguanidine salt by a simple process without requiring a toxic solvent.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a method for producing a polyalkylene biguanidine salt, which can produce various polyalkylene biguanidine salts.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a polyalkylene biguanidine salt, which does not require a separate preliminary step to produce a reactant and performs a uniform reaction with good reaction efficiency. Is to provide.
To achieve the above object, the present invention comprises a step of polymerizing an alkylenediamine dihydrochloride and a dicyanamide metal salt in the presence or absence of a solvent, and water and an alkali metal compound or an alkaline earth metal compound in the polymerization product. The polyalkylene biguanidine salt produced according to the present invention can be represented by the following chemical formula 1.
In Chemical Formula 1, Y is from HCl, HBr, HI, nitric acid, carbonic acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, benzoic acid, dehydroacetic acid, propionic acid, gluconic acid, sorbic acid, fumaric acid, maleic acid and epichlorohydrinic acid. N is independently a positive number of 1 or more, preferably 2 to 100, and X represents a C3-C17 bridging group present between adjacent nitrogen atoms.
In order to prepare the polyalkylene biguanidine salt of Formula 1 according to the present invention, a reaction product of an alkylene diamine dihydrochloride and a dicyanamide metal salt [MN (CN) 2 , M is a metal], either sequentially or simultaneously is used. To be polymerized. If necessary, a solvent can be added to the reactor during or before the polymerization. Examples of alkylenediamine dihydrochlorides are hexamethylenediamine dihydrochloride, decamethylenediamine dihydrochloride, bis-ω-aminopropyl ether dihydrochloride, 4,4′-diaminodicyclohexylmethane dihydrochloride, 1,4- Di- (ω-aminopropoxy) benzene dihydrochloride, N, N′-di-isobutyl-aminohexamethylenediamine dihydrochloride, trimethylenediamine dihydrochloride, bis- (1-amino-3-propyl) -ether There are dihydrochloride, 1,3-bis-methylaminoneopentane dihydrochloride and mixtures thereof. Preferably, the alkylene diamine diacid is hexamethylene diamine diacid. The metal of the dicyanamide metal salt includes sodium, zinc, calcium, copper, and a mixture thereof. Preferably, the metal of the dicyanamide metal salt is sodium. The alkylenediamine diacid and the dicyanamide metal salt are not necessarily used in the same molar ratio, and the amount of the reaction product can be changed in a wide range. However, when one reactant is excessively used, unreacted substances may remain excessively and the reaction efficiency may be lowered.
When the solvent is used, the solvent acts as a solvent and a heat medium in the polymerization reaction of alkylenediamine dihydrochloride and dicyanamide metal salt. The solvent increases the stirring efficiency of the solid state alkylenediamine dihydrochloride and dicyanamide metal salt, and suppresses the viscosity of the reaction mixture from excessively increasing. Examples of preferred solvents include organic solvents such as polyhydric alcohols or derivatives thereof having a boiling point of 150 ° C. or higher and not directly participating in the polymerization reaction of alkylenediamine dihydrochloride and dicyanamide metal salt. Specific examples of the solvent include ethylene glycol (EG), diethylene glycol (DEG), triethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol (Mw = 1,000 or less), 1,3-propylene glycol, 1, 2-propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, tripropylene glycol, polypropylene glycol (Mw = 1,000 or less), 2-methyl-1,2-propylene glycol, 1,2-butylene glycol, 1,4-butylene glycol, 1 , 5-pentanediol, neopentyl glycol, 1,6-hexanediol, trimethylolethane, trimethylolpropane, glycerol, alphamethylglucoside, 2-methyl-2,4-penta Glycols, methylcellulose, ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate, bisphenol A propylene oxide adduct, dibromoneopentyl glycol and mixtures thereof. A preferable amount of the solvent is 1 to 200 parts by weight, and more preferably 5 to 100 parts by weight with respect to a total of 100 parts by weight of the alkylenediamine dihydrochloride and the dicyanamide metal salt. If the amount of the solvent is less than 1 part by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total of the alkylenediamine dihydrochloride and the dicyanamide metal salt, the viscosity of the reaction mixture is not sufficiently lowered, so that the stirring efficiency is lowered and a uniform reaction Is not done. Further, if the amount of the solvent exceeds 200 parts by weight, the reaction time becomes longer, and the reaction waste and the manufacturing cost increase. Since the solvent lowers the viscosity of the reaction mixture, the method of the present invention can be used not only in a high viscosity reactor but also in an ordinary reactor. Reactors suitable for the present invention include a stirred vessel (Vessel), a kneader, an extruder, a mixer or a mill reactor. More preferably, the reactor includes a stirred vessel. The temperature at which the reaction mixture and the solvent are charged into the reaction furnace is not particularly limited, but normal temperature is preferable in consideration of handling of the reactants, working environment, and the like. A preferred polymerization temperature is 100 to 200 ° C., and a preferred reaction time is 2 to 24 hours. Further, it is preferable to remove nitrogen in the polymerization mixture by performing nitrogen purging through the upper part of the reactor. If the temperature or time of the polymerization reaction is less than the above mentioned range, the polymerization reaction will not proceed sufficiently. Conversely, if the temperature or time of the polymerization reaction exceeds the mentioned range, side reactions will occur excessively, increasing the amount of by-products. As the polymerization reaction proceeds, the viscosity of the reaction mixture increases and the state of the reaction mixture changes from a flowable viscous polymer to a solid in paste form. Therefore, the degree of progress of the reaction can be determined from the change in viscosity of the reaction mixture.
After the polymerization reaction is completed, a polymerization product neutralization and by-product removal step is performed. In the neutralization step, water is added to the polymerization product and the polymerization product is stirred to dissolve the polymerization reaction product. Thereafter, an alkali metal compound such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide or the like is added to the polymerization product. It is carried out by charging and stirring the alkaline earth metal compound. The amount of water is about 5 to 40 times, preferably 10 to 40 times, more preferably 15 to 30 times in molar ratio to the amount of dicyanamide metal salt used in the polymerization reaction. The amount of the alkaline earth metal compound is about 0.2 to 2 times, preferably 0.5 to 1.5 times in molar ratio to the amount of the dicyanamide metal salt. The alkali metal compound or alkaline earth metal compound can be added alone or in the form of an aqueous solution, and can be stirred at 20 to 80 ° C., preferably 30 to 60 ° C. for 30 minutes to 3 hours, preferably 1 to 2 hours. If the amount of water, alkali metal compound or alkaline earth metal compound or the stirring time is less than the above mentioned range, the neutralized polyalkylene biguanidine polymer layer is not sufficiently formed, or the specific gravity difference The phase separation by is not performed efficiently. On the other hand, if the amount of the alkali metal compound or alkaline earth metal compound exceeds the above mentioned range, an excess of the alkali metal compound or alkaline earth metal compound is present in the target compound and has a special benefit. There is no economic disadvantage. Further, even if the amount of water or the stirring time exceeds the above-mentioned range, no more preferable effect can be obtained.
After neutralizing the polymerization product and stopping stirring, the neutralized polymerization product is a polyalkylene biguanidine polymer neutralized by standing at room temperature for 0.5 hour or more, preferably 3 hours or more. Inducing phase separation into layers and aqueous layers. Next, the solvent and by-products, for example, metal salts such as NaCl produced during the polymerization reaction, are dissolved in the aqueous solution layer. Such phase separation occurs due to the difference in solubility and specific gravity between the neutralized polyalkylene biguanidine polymer layer and the aqueous solution layer in which the metal salt is dissolved. The phase separation of the polyalkylene biguanidine polymer layer neutralized from the aqueous solution layer by a method such as the drain method provides a pure neutralized polyalkylene biguanidine polymer free from solvent and metal salts. A molecular layer is obtained. Next, various polyalkylene biguanidine salts can be obtained by adding water and various acids to the separated polyalkylene biguanidine polymer layer. Examples of acids for producing polyalkylene biguanidine salts include HCl, HBr, HI, nitric acid, carbonic acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, benzoic acid, dehydroacetic acid, propionic acid, gluconic acid, sorbic acid, fumaric acid, There are maleic acid, epichlorohydric acid and mixtures thereof. The amount of the acid is about 0.2 to 2 times, preferably 0.5 to 1.5 times in molar ratio to the amount of dicyanamide metal salt used in the reaction. When the amount of the acid is less than 0.2 times, the solubility and stability of the final product are lowered. If the amount of the acid exceeds twice, the pH of the final product is lowered, and the final product is not preferable from an economical viewpoint and a commercial application.
The polyalkylene biguanidine salt prepared in various salt forms by the method of the present invention includes 0 to 10% by weight, preferably 0.01 to 5% by weight of the residual solvent, and has a weight average molecular weight of 300 to 20%. 1,000, preferably 500 to 10,000, more preferably 700 to 5,000.
The polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride represented by the following chemical formula 2 is a step of polymerizing an alkylenediamine dihydrochloride and a dicyanamide metal salt in the presence of a solvent, and a step of removing the solvent and by-products from the obtained polymerization product. Can be manufactured.
In the chemical formula 2, X and n are as defined in the chemical formula 1.
The solvent and polymerization conditions for the polymerization process can be set to be the same as the polymerization process conditions for the polyalkylene biguanidine salt of Formula 1. The step of removing the solvent and the by-product includes adding water to the polymerization product and stirring the polymerization product to dissolve the reaction product, and then at 20 to 80 ° C., preferably at room temperature for 0.5 hour or more. Preferably, it is performed by standing for 3 hours or more. The amount of water is about 5 to 40 times, preferably 10 to 40 times, more preferably 15 to 30 times in molar ratio to the dicyanamide metal salt used in the polymerization reaction. When the amount of water or the settling time is less than the mentioned range, polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride is not sufficiently dissolved, or phase separation due to a difference in specific gravity is not performed efficiently. If the amount of water exceeds the range, the process is economically disadvantageous without any special benefits. Such phase separation is performed by the solubility and specific gravity difference between the polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride layer and the aqueous solution layer in which the metal salt and the solvent are dissolved. When water is added to the polymerization product and the polymerization product is stirred and placed, the polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride layer and the aqueous solution layer are phase-separated. At this time, a solvent and a by-product, for example, a metal salt such as NaCl generated by the polymerization reaction, is dissolved in the aqueous solution layer. Pure polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride is obtained by separating the polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride layer from the aqueous solution layer by a method such as the drain method. The obtained polyalkylene biguanidine hydrochloride contains 0 to 10% by weight of the residual solvent, more preferably 0.01 to 5% by weight, and the weight average molecular weight is 300 to 20,000, preferably 500 to 10,000, more preferably 700 to 5,000.

The molecular weight and polydispersity index (PDI: Polydispersity Index) of polyhexamethylene biguanidine hydrochloride prepared according to Examples 6 to 14 and Comparative Example were measured, and the results are shown in Table 1 below. The molecular weight was measured by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). In Table 1, “stirring ratio” is the lowest stirring ratio (rpm) during the polymerization reaction, and “stirability is possible” indicates whether the stirring ratio is reduced to less than 10 rpm from the stirring ratio of 100 rpm in the initial reaction. It was decided by what.
As shown in Table 1, in the method of the comparative example, the polymerization product could not be stirred after polymerization at 150 ° C. for 1.5 hours. As noted above, the present invention prevents excessive increases in the viscosity of the polymerization product and, therefore, does not require a high viscosity reactor and eliminates the main drawbacks of conventional melting processes. Furthermore, the present invention does not require a harmful organic solvent and can obtain a variety of desired salts.
