Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a thermal transfer ribbon, and more particularly to a thermal transfer ribbon in which at least one of an end film and a lead film is connected.
Conventionally, a recording apparatus such as a thermal printer or a facsimile machine melts a hot-melt ink layer by heating and pressing a desired portion from the back side of a thermal transfer sheet provided with a hot-melt ink layer on one side of a base film, Ink is transferred to the image receiving paper.
By the way, the thermal transfer sheet is used as a thermal transfer ribbon wound around a core as shown in FIG. 1. Usually, when the thermal transfer sheet is wound around a core, an end film is provided on the winding start end side. Is wound around the core. The end film is a film for detecting the end of the thermal transfer ribbon by a transmissive sensor or a reflective sensor. For example, as shown in FIG. 2, when a transparent film is used as an end film, the recording apparatus is provided with a transmission type sensor, and the transmittance of the heat-melt ink layer of the thermal transfer sheet and the end film made of the transparent film. The end is detected using the difference with the transmittance. For example, when a reflective film in which a vapor deposition layer of aluminum or the like is formed on the surface of a resin film is used as an end film, the recording apparatus is provided with a reflective sensor, and the reflectance of the heat-melting ink layer of the thermal transfer sheet The end is detected using the difference with the reflectance of the reflective film. For example, Patent Document 1 proposes that a thermal transfer sheet portion and a transparent end film are bonded with a reflective tape, and end detection based on transmittance is performed with the transparent end film, and end detection based on reflectance is performed with the reflective tape. Has been.
Further, in order to use up the ink layer of the thermal transfer film simply on the thermal transfer ribbon, a so-called discard winding lead film may be connected to the end side where the thermal transfer sheet starts to be wound.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a thermal transfer ribbon having an end film that can reliably detect the end portion without causing blocking.
The thermal transfer ribbon of the present invention is a thermal transfer ribbon in which at least one of an end film and a lead film is connected to a terminal portion, and at least one surface of the end film and the lead film in a state where the thermal transfer ribbon is wound around a core. As shown in FIG. 3, the end film is attached to the end of the obtained thermal transfer sheet via an adhesive tape so that the slip layer of the end film and the heat-resistant protective layer of the thermal transfer sheet are on the same side. A roll-shaped thermal transfer ribbon was obtained by wrapping around a core so as to fit a thermal printer of B474 manufactured by TEC. The obtained thermal transfer ribbon was held in a constant temperature and humidity layer under the conditions of 60 ° C. and 75% Rh for 20 days, and then continuously printed to the end by the thermal printer to confirm the end detection operation. When 20000 samples similar to the above were prepared and the operation was confirmed, blocking did not occur between the hot-melt ink layer and the end film, and the terminal end could be detected normally. The reason why blocking does not occur in this embodiment is that, as shown in FIG. 5 , at the end portion of the thermal transfer ribbon, the heat-melt ink layer and the end film are in contact with each other through the slipping layer.
