Abstract
Description
本発明は、反応ガス中を流動する触媒粒子に該反応ガスを作用させて触媒粒子を成長核としてカーボンファイバを成長させて製造する、いわゆる流動触媒法によりカーボンファイバを製造する方法、この製造方法により製造したカーボンファイバ、およびそのカーボンファイバを製造する装置に関するものである。 The present invention relates to a method for producing a carbon fiber by a so-called fluidized catalyst method, in which the reaction gas is allowed to act on catalyst particles flowing in a reaction gas to grow carbon fibers using the catalyst particles as growth nuclei, and this production method. And a device for manufacturing the carbon fiber.
The problem to be solved by the present invention is a process for producing a carbon fiber such as a carbon nanotube using a fluid catalytic method in which catalyst particles are caused to react with a reaction gas component while the catalyst particles are caused to flow in the reaction gas. Thus, it is possible to manufacture a carbon fiber that is intertwined in a fuzzy ball shape into a block shape.
本発明に係るカーボンファイバの製造方法は、流動触媒法によりカーボンファイバを製造する方法において、反応ガスを屈曲した少なくとも1つの反応経路を分子流領域で一方向に流しながら反応ガス成分を反応経路内を流動する触媒粒子に作用させてカーボンファイバを製造することを特徴とするものである。 The method for producing a carbon fiber according to the present invention is a method for producing a carbon fiber by a flow catalyst method. In the method for producing a carbon fiber, a reaction gas component is flown in a reaction path while flowing at least one reaction path bent in a reaction gas in one direction in a molecular flow region. The carbon fiber is produced by acting on the flowing catalyst particles.
上記屈曲の形状はなんら限定されないが、好ましくは螺旋状とすることができる。さらに好ましくは、上記分子流領域は、クヌードセン数K(=λ/D、ただしDは反応経路内径、λは反応ガス成分の反応経路内での平均自由行程)が0.01より大きい値でガスが流れる領域である。ただし、分子流領域は好ましくは1.0より大きい。 The shape of the bend is not limited at all, but can be preferably a spiral. More preferably, the molecular flow region has a Knudsen number K (= λ / D, where D is an inner diameter of the reaction path and λ is an average free path in the reaction path of the reaction gas component) greater than 0.01. This is the area where flows. However, the molecular flow region is preferably greater than 1.0.
本発明では、反応経路が螺旋状等に屈曲しているので、反応ガスが分子流領域で反応経路内を流れることによって、反応経路内では層流や乱流といった流れにならないことにより、触媒粒子が反応経路内壁に接触する機会が増加してカーボンファイバの屈曲成長が促進されるので、カーボンファイバを毛玉状に絡み合った集合状態にして製造することができる。 In the present invention, since the reaction path is bent in a spiral shape or the like, the reaction gas flows in the reaction path in the molecular flow region, so that the flow of laminar flow or turbulent flow does not occur in the reaction path. Since the chance of contact with the inner wall of the reaction path increases and the bending growth of the carbon fiber is promoted, the carbon fiber can be manufactured in an aggregated state intertwined in a hairball shape.
特に反応経路を一方向長手に螺旋状に一様に屈曲させた場合、カーボンファイバを成長の過程で規則的に屈曲させ、良好な毛玉状の集合状態に製造することができる。 In particular, when the reaction path is uniformly bent in the longitudinal direction in one direction, the carbon fiber can be regularly bent during the growth process to produce a good pill-like aggregate state.
本発明のカーボンファイバ製造装置は、屈曲した少なくとも1つの管路と、反応ガスを上記管路内に分子流領域の圧力で一方向に流す反応ガス供給部と、当該管路内に触媒粒子を供給する触媒粒子供給部とを備える、ことを特徴とするものである。 The carbon fiber manufacturing apparatus of the present invention includes at least one bent pipe, a reaction gas supply unit for flowing the reaction gas in one direction with the pressure of the molecular flow region in the pipe, and catalyst particles in the pipe. And a catalyst particle supply unit for supplying the catalyst particles.
カーボンファイバは、カーボンナノチューブ、カーボンナノホーン、カーボンナノコーン、カーボンナノバンブ、グラファイトナノファイバを含むことができる。 The carbon fibers can include carbon nanotubes, carbon nanohorns, carbon nanocones, carbon nanobumps, and graphite nanofibers.
触媒粒子の材料は、その構成要素に炭素を含有する化合物ガスに作用する材料であれば特に限定されず、例えば、鉄、コバルト、ニッケル等およびこれらの酸化物を例示することができる。 The material of the catalyst particles is not particularly limited as long as it is a material that acts on a compound gas containing carbon as a constituent element, and examples thereof include iron, cobalt, nickel, and oxides thereof.
本発明によれば、カーボンファイバを毛玉状に集合したブロック状に製造することができる。 According to the present invention, the carbon fibers can be manufactured in a block shape assembled in a pill shape.

本実施の形態では以上の構成を備えたカーボンファイバ製造装置を用いて流動触媒法によりカーボンファイバを製造するものであり、この製造装置における屈曲した反応管であるキャピラリ管12の管路内を分子流領域の圧力に設定して、カーボンファイバを毛玉状に製造可能としたことを特徴としている。この場合、分子流領域は、クヌードセン数K(=λ/D、ただしDはキャピラリ管12の管内径、λは反応ガス成分のキャピラリ管12の管路内での平均自由行程)が0.01より大きい値、好ましくは、1より大きい値である。
In this embodiment, a carbon fiber is manufactured by a flow catalyst method using the carbon fiber manufacturing apparatus having the above-described configuration, and the inside of the

In this embodiment, the
以上説明したカーボンファイバ製造装置10を用いた製造方法では、カーボンファイバ13を毛玉等のブロック状に成長させることができる。その結果、この装置で製造したカーボンファイバはそれ自体の比重が小さくて軽くても、製造後の工程でカーボンファイバを集合させてブロック状にすることが容易となる。
