Abstract
Description
本発明は、ガラス微粒子堆積体の製造に使用されるガラス合成用バーナと、該バーナを用いたガラス微粒子堆積体の製造方法に関する。 The present invention relates to a glass synthesis burner used for manufacturing a glass particulate deposit and a method for producing a glass particulate deposit using the burner.
ガラス微粒子堆積体の製造方法の一つとして、多層付け法が知られている。
この製造方法は、軸回りに回転させた出発材に対して軸方向に往復移動されるガラス合成用バーナによって出発材の外周にガラス微粒子を径方向へ積層させて、多孔質のガラス微粒子堆積体を成長させていくものである。
As one of the methods for producing a glass particulate deposit, a multi-layering method is known.
In this manufacturing method, a porous glass fine particle deposit is obtained by laminating glass fine particles radially on the outer periphery of a starting material by a glass synthesis burner that is reciprocated in the axial direction with respect to the starting material rotated about an axis. It will grow.
In this multilayering method, a multi-nozzle burner is generally used as a glass synthesis burner.
The multi-nozzle burner has an injection flow path for injecting a glass raw material gas disposed in the center, and has an injection flow path for injecting a combustible gas and an auxiliary combustion gas on its outer side. This is a general term for a burner having a structure in which at least one of the injection flow paths is configured by a plurality of small-diameter nozzle structures, and the plurality of nozzles are arranged on concentric circles of the raw material gas injection flow paths.
By the way, in the multi-layering method, the outer diameter of the target is small at the initial stage of the deposition of the glass particles, and the adhesion efficiency of the glass particles is poor. In particular, in a burner having only a concentric multiple tube structure generally used in the VAD method or the like, the straight-line property of the glass particles to the target is poor and the adhesion efficiency is not good. The multi-nozzle burner improved the adhesion efficiency of the glass particles at the initial stage of deposition by increasing the injection flow rate of the auxiliary combustion gas and improving the straightness of the flame. A multi-nozzle burner with a structure that can stabilize the adhesion of glass particles and improve the heating efficiency of the deposition surface by incorporating the gas nozzle into a small-diameter combustible gas nozzle and improving the straightness of the combustion flame (FIG. 7). ) Has been proposed.
The glass synthesis burner 1 shown in FIG. 7 is disclosed in the following Patent Document 1 and the like, and is disposed at the center portion and a raw material gas
また、原料ガス噴射流路5やシールガス噴射流路13の外側で同心円上に、助燃性ガス15を噴射する小口径の助燃性ガスノズル19が装備されている。この助燃性ガスノズル19は、可燃性ガス噴射流路9の先端に装備された小口径可燃性ガスノズル21内に配置されて、小口径可燃性ガスノズル21との協働で火炎噴射ノズル23を形成している。
Further, an auxiliary

The tip of the small-diameter
このように、原料ガス噴射流路5の延長線上に収束点を有するようにバーナ外周部から可燃性ガス7や助燃性ガス15を噴射させる構成とすることで、原料流の広がりを抑えてターゲット外径が細いガラス微粒子の堆積初期においてもガラス微粒子を良好に堆積することができ、また収束火炎構造として火炎の揺れを起こり難くすることで安定した堆積を行うことができ、さらに、原料流への酸素や水の拡散を効率的にして反応効率を向上することができる。
As described above, the
なお、ガラス原料ガス3の酸化反応や加水分解反応をより活発にして、ガラス微粒子が生成される反応効率を高めるために、下記特許文献2では、可燃性ガス噴射流路や助燃性ガス噴射流路を、原料ガス噴射流路5の外周に複数層に配備することも提案されている。
In order to increase the oxidation efficiency and hydrolysis reaction of the glass
ところで、最近では、ガラス母材の目標となる屈折率を得るために、ゲルマニウム(Ge)等の屈折率調整用添加物を含有させたガラス原料ガスを使用して、ガラス微粒子を出発材に堆積させることが行われている。 By the way, recently, in order to obtain the target refractive index of the glass base material, a glass raw material gas containing a refractive index adjusting additive such as germanium (Ge) is used to deposit glass fine particles on the starting material. Has been done.
However, for example, Ge as a refractive index adjusting additive is actually mixed in a glass raw material gas in the form of GeCl 4 (germanium tetrachloride). is reacted with oxygen or water, it is necessary reaction step of changing the GeO 2 (germanium dioxide).
The reaction time required to change this germanium tetrachloride to germanium dioxide is that the glass raw material SiCl 4 (silicon tetrachloride) is made up of fine glass particles by reaction with oxygen and water in the flame. It takes more time than the reaction time to change to some SiO 2 (silicon dioxide). In other words, the reaction is slow.
T=C/D
Therefore, in order to efficiently attach the refractive index adjusting additive such as germanium (Ge) to the glass fine particles, the target arrival time of the glass fine particles formed from the glass raw material gas is set to be longer than the reaction time required for generating silicon dioxide. Need to be set larger.
Here, when the distance from the burner tip surface to the target deposition surface is C (unit: mm) and the flow rate of the
T = C / D
従って、二酸化ゲルマニウムの生成に必要な反応時間が十分に確保できるように、ガラス微粒子がターゲットの堆積面に到達するまでの時間Tを増大させようとすれば、バーナ先端面からターゲットの堆積面までの距離Cを長くするか、原料流速Dを小さく(遅く)するかの何れかの対応が必要になる。 Therefore, if it is attempted to increase the time T until the glass fine particles reach the target deposition surface so that the reaction time necessary for the production of germanium dioxide can be sufficiently ensured, from the burner tip surface to the target deposition surface. Either a longer distance C or a lower (slower) raw material flow rate D is required.
However, the conventional glass synthesis burner 1 shown in FIG. 7 balances various parameters such as the raw material flow velocity D and the distance C to the target with high accuracy, thereby maintaining the flame state and efficient glass fine particles. If the raw material flow rate D or the distance C to the target is simply changed, there is a problem that the generation efficiency of the glass fine particles is reduced due to deterioration of the flame state, and the glass fine particles are substantially reduced. There has been a problem that the time T required to reach the target deposition surface cannot be increased.
On the other hand, if the time T until the glass fine particles reach the target deposition surface remains the same as before, sufficient reaction time necessary for the production of germanium dioxide and the adhesion of the generated germanium dioxide to the glass fine particles is ensured. This is not possible and causes a variation in the adhesion rate of Ge. The variation in the adhesion rate of Ge causes a variation in the refractive index distribution called striae, resulting in quality variations and the like.
The above-described raw material flow velocity D is also a function having the nozzle cross-sectional area of the burner and the total amount of supply gas as parameters. Therefore, in order to slow down the raw material flow velocity D, the nozzle cross-sectional area is increased or the total supply gas amount is decreased. However, if the nozzle cross-sectional area is increased, the flame condition will be worsened, and if the total amount of supplied gas is reduced, the total amount of generated glass particles will decrease, so the required amount of glass particles will be deposited. This takes a long time, and the productivity of the equipment deteriorates, which is not preferable in either case.
The object of the present invention is to maintain the convergent flame in a good state even when the raw material flow rate D is slowed or the distance C to the target is extended, thereby preventing a decrease in the generation efficiency of the glass fine particles. Therefore, the reaction time until the refractive index adjusting additive such as slow reaction Ge adheres to the glass fine particles can be set to be substantially long so that the adhesion of the dopant can be realized stably. It is an object of the present invention to provide a glass synthesis burner capable of efficiently producing a quality glass fine particle deposit and a method for producing a glass fine particle deposit using the burner.

A method for producing a glass particulate deposit according to claim 6 of the present invention uses a glass synthesis burner according to any one of claims 1 to 5 and uses a glass raw material gas containing an additive for refractive index adjustment. Supplying into the flame from the source gas injection flow path, generating glass fine particles, injecting the generated glass fine particles toward the starting material, and moving the burner relative to the starting material in the axial direction Thus, glass fine particles are deposited on the starting material.
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for producing a glass fine particle deposit according to the sixth aspect of the present invention, wherein the glass fine particle deposit per unit time of the glass raw material gas supplied to the raw material gas injection channel is the method for producing a glass fine particle deposit according to the sixth aspect. The flow rate of the gas and the cross-sectional area of the raw material gas injection flow path, and the deposition surface on the starting material from the reaction start point when the glass raw material gas expands by reaction with oxygen or water in the flame The flow rate of the glass raw material gas supplied to the raw material gas injection flow path is set so that the reaction time obtained from the distance up to and the flow velocity is at least 10 msec.
According to the burner for glass synthesis of the present invention, the reaction space is formed by the partition tube which is the outer wall extension portion of the multiple tube portion extended from the multiple tube portion tip toward the burner tip, and the glass is formed in the reaction space. The source gas, combustible gas, and auxiliary combustible gas flow, and the reaction for changing SiCl 4 that is already a glass material in the glass source gas into SiO 2 that is a glass fine particle starts in the reaction space.
The chemical reaction for producing the glass fine particles includes an oxidation reaction and a hydrolysis reaction. In either case, the reaction is a volume expansion reaction in which the number of moles increases after the reaction. However, even if a volume expansion reaction occurs, the outer periphery of the reaction space is surrounded by the partition tube, so that the reaction gas does not expand or diffuse in the radial direction, and thus the outer diameter is limited by the partition tube. Injected from the burner tip toward the target as a stable flame.
In addition, by arranging a plurality of flame injection nozzles having small-diameter auxiliary gas nozzles outside the multiple pipe part, the flame at the center of the burner is throttled by the flow energy of the small-diameter auxiliary gas nozzle, and the outer diameter gradually increases. It is maintained in a stable convergent flame that narrows.
As a result, for example, even if the raw material flow velocity D injected from the raw material gas injection flow path is slowed or the distance C to the target is extended, the convergent flame is maintained in a good state, and glass fine particles are generated. A decrease in efficiency can be prevented.

Any reaction is a volume expansion reaction in which the number of moles increases after the reaction.
A reaction in which Ge, which is a refractive index adjusting additive raw material, reacts with oxygen (O 2 ) or water (H 2 O) in a flame to change to GeO 2 is a similar volume expansion reaction.
以上のガラス合成用バーナ31は、図3に示すように、軸回りに回転させた出発材65に対してその軸方向に往復移動させて、バーナから噴射する火炎67の当たる位置を変えることで、出発材65の外周に堆積するガラス微粒子を成長させていく。
As shown in FIG. 3, the above-described
In the present embodiment, the flow velocity D (unit: m / sec) obtained from the flow rate per unit time of the glass
In the case of this embodiment, L 0 = 40 mm is set.

Preferably, the flow velocity D (unit: m / sec) is obtained from the flow rate per unit time of the glass
In the
The chemical reaction for producing the glass fine particles includes an oxidation reaction and a hydrolysis reaction. In either case, the reaction is a volume expansion reaction in which the number of moles increases after the reaction. However, even if a volume expansion reaction occurs, the outer periphery of the
Further, the flame at the center of the burner injected from the burner tip H 0 toward the target is caused by the flow energy of the
As a result, for example, even if the raw material flow velocity D injected from the raw material gas
Accordingly, by appropriately changing the raw material flow rate D and the distance C to the target, the time T until the glass fine particles reach the target deposition surface is set longer in accordance with the refractive index adjusting additive such as Ge which has a slow reaction. can do.

更に上記実施の形態の具体的な実施例における作用・効果を、従来例と比較して、以下に示す。 Further, operations and effects in specific examples of the above-described embodiment will be described below in comparison with the conventional example.

In such a gas supply state, glass fine particles were deposited on a starting material (target rod) having a diameter of 15 mm by a multi-layer method, and a glass fine particle deposit having a length of 500 mm and an outer diameter of 170 mm was produced. The average deposition rate in that case was 1.3 g / min. Then, the produced glass fine particle deposit was sintered and transparent, and the refractive index distribution in the radial direction was measured. As a result, the refractive index variation (stratification) in one layer was 0.4% in terms of the refractive index difference. Further, the distance between the burner tip surface and the target deposition surface was made as long as possible, but 190 mm was the maximum because of the flickering of the flame.
In contrast, in the
Similarly to the conventional example, glass particles are deposited on a starting material (target rod) having a diameter of 15 mm by a multi-layer method, and a glass particle deposit having the same length of 500 mm and an outer diameter of 170 mm is manufactured. It was. As a result, the average deposition rate was 3.5 g / min, and deposition at a rate as high as about 2.7 times the conventional rate could be realized, confirming a significant improvement in deposition rate. Further, the manufactured glass fine particle deposit was made transparent, and the refractive index distribution in the radial direction was measured. As a result, the refractive index variation (striation) in one layer had a refractive index difference of 0.1% or less. There was a portion where the refractive index variation was not detected (that is, the refractive index was constant), and it was confirmed that the refractive index difference was greatly reduced.
Further, when the distance C between the target deposition surface and the burner tip surface is set to be as long as possible, a stable flame state can be obtained up to 270 mm, and the distance between the target deposition surface and the burner tip surface is also It was confirmed that it could be greatly increased.
なお、図1に示した本実施の形態では、前述したように、反応空間63の長さL0=40mmに設定しているため、反応空間63内の反応開始点からターゲット堆積面までの実質的な距離C1は、C1=270+40=310mmまで確保されると考えることができる。
In the present embodiment shown in FIG. 1, since the length L 0 of the
The good results such as the difference in refractive index in the above examples were expected to some extent as an improvement in the reaction time accompanying the increase in the separation distance C1 to the target deposition surface. Was confirmed. This is because the periphery of the
Furthermore, after performing jacketing on the base material manufactured in the above example, the wire was drawn, whereas in the case of the base material made with the conventional glass synthesis burner 1, the spike frequency was 15 times / Mm. In the case of this example, the spike frequency was 4 times / Mm, and a marked improvement was confirmed.
In the case of a multi-nozzle burner equipped with a converging flow of auxiliary combustible gas on the outer periphery of the burner, there was a problem that the spike frequency was higher than that of a burner having only a simple multi-tube structure, but as shown in FIG. It is presumed that the spike frequency is improved even with a multi-nozzle burner equipped with a converging flow of auxiliary combustible gas at the outer peripheral portion by adopting a structure in which a multiple tube portion is included in the central portion.
Incidentally, the glass raw materials in the raw material gas (SiCl 4) and the refractive index-adjusting additive material (e.g., GeCl 4), the more those located outside the feed gas stream early in the flame of the O 2 and H 2 O That are located on the center side of the raw material gas flow are delayed in contact with O 2 or H 2 O. Therefore, starting from the reaction start point when the glass
そこで、反応時間の不足を防止するには、屈折率変動幅と反応時間との相関から適正な反応時間を選定することが望ましい。
図4は上記した本実施の形態のガラス合成用バーナと、図7に示した従来のガラス合成用バーナとで、反応時間と屈折率変動幅との相関を比較した表である。
この図4は、ガラス原料ガス中のSiCl4とGeCl4の濃度比は同じにしつつ反応時間を変化させた時に発生する屈折率変動の状態を示している。
Therefore, in order to prevent the reaction time from being insufficient, it is desirable to select an appropriate reaction time from the correlation between the refractive index fluctuation range and the reaction time.
FIG. 4 is a table comparing the correlation between the reaction time and the refractive index fluctuation range in the glass synthesis burner of the present embodiment described above and the conventional glass synthesis burner shown in FIG.
FIG. 4 shows a state of refractive index fluctuation that occurs when the reaction time is changed while the concentration ratio of SiCl 4 and GeCl 4 in the glass raw material gas is the same.
As shown in the present embodiment, when the reaction time is set to 10 msec or more, the refractive index fluctuation range can be regulated to 0.8% or less, and stable production capable of realizing the refractive index distribution measurement in the preform is possible. Become.
More preferably, the refractive index fluctuation range should be within 0.3%, in which case the reaction time is about 25 msec. Furthermore, it is preferable that there is no refractive index fluctuation range, and for this purpose, the reaction time is about 40 msec. Note that when the reaction time is 40 msec or 50 msec, the refractive index variation is 0.01%, which may be a measurement error.
In addition, according to the
In addition, by setting the number of equipment of the
Further, according to the
また、上記のガラス合成用バーナ31によれば、火炎噴射ノズル59から噴射される火炎の始端が、バーナ先端H0よりも内側になることで、火炎中の酸素や水がガラス原料ガス33の流れに速やかに拡散するようになり、ガラス原料ガス33中への酸素や水の拡散を活性化して、ガラス微粒子や屈折率調整用添加物が生成される反応速度を向上させることができる。
Further, according to the
なお、火炎噴射ノズル59の装備数は、8つに限定するものではない。原料ガス噴射流路35から噴射するガラス原料ガス33の流量や、それに対して必要となる火炎量などに応じて、2つ以上の適宜数に加減することが可能である。
In addition, the number of equipment of the
