Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an in-vehicle cable and an in-vehicle cable with a connector that can transmit an optical signal through an optical fiber in a vehicle.
However, a plastic optical fiber as disclosed in Patent Document 1 cannot achieve a transmission rate of 500 Mbps or more, and therefore, when the amount of information to be propagated increases, signal communication in the vehicle cannot be sufficiently performed. In addition, the plastic optical fiber has a problem that transmission characteristics deteriorate when exposed to a high temperature of 85 ° C. or higher.
An object of the present invention is to provide an in-vehicle cable capable of high-speed transmission, having a high degree of freedom in the system, and having stable transmission characteristics even at high temperatures.
In order to achieve the above-described object, a vehicle-mounted cable according to the present invention includes a sheath layer made of a thermoplastic resin having a melting point higher than 150 ° C. on the outer periphery of an optical fiber core having a plastic layer on the outer periphery of silica-based glass. It is provided.
In the in-vehicle cable configured as described above, since a sheath layer made of a thermoplastic resin having a melting point higher than 150 ° C. is provided on the outer periphery, even if the cable is laid in the vicinity of a high-temperature body such as an engine, the cable is heated. Does not melt. Further, since quartz glass is used at least for the core portion, transmission loss can be reduced and transmission capacity can be increased, and high-speed and long-distance transmission is possible. This increases the degree of freedom of the system. In addition, an in-vehicle cable having stable transmission characteristics even at high temperatures can be provided.
Further, in the vehicle-mounted cable according to the present invention, a tensile body having a diameter larger than that of the optical fiber core is arranged away from the optical fiber core, and the sheath layer includes the tensile body and the optical fiber core. It is desirable to cover all together.
In the vehicle-mounted cable configured as described above, for example, when an object is placed on the vehicle-mounted cable or an object falls, a tensile body having a large outer diameter first receives the object due to an external force. . For this reason, the impact received by the optical fiber core wire is reduced, and the possibility that the optical fiber core wire is melted is reduced. That is, the optical fiber core wire is protected from an impact caused by an external force, in other words, the impact resistance of the cable is improved.
In addition, the vehicle-mounted cable according to the present invention is preferably a multimode optical fiber in which the core and the clad of the optical fiber core are mainly composed of quartz.
In the vehicle-mounted cable configured as described above, by using a multimode optical fiber having a large core, when the cable is connected to a device or the like, it can be optically connected even if the optical axes of both are slightly shifted. Accordingly, since the accuracy of the optical axis shift is not so required while using the silica-based optical fiber, the terminal processing can be facilitated, for example, the connector can be easily attached.
Moreover, as for the vehicle-mounted cable concerning this invention, it is desirable for the said optical fiber core wire to be a plastic clad fiber.
In the in-vehicle cable configured as described above, by using a plastic clad fiber having a large core, when the cable is connected to a device, it can be optically connected even if the optical axes of the both are slightly deviated. Therefore, since the accuracy of the optical axis deviation is not so required, the terminal processing can be facilitated, for example, the connector can be easily attached. In addition, since plastic is superior in impact resistance to quartz, impact resistance is improved as compared with quartz-based cladding.
Moreover, as for the vehicle-mounted cable concerning this invention, it is desirable that the thickness of a part with a tension body is thicker than the thickness of a part with an optical fiber.
In the vehicle-mounted cable configured as described above, for example, when an object is placed on the vehicle-mounted cable or an object falls, the object hits a portion having a thick tensile body. From the cable side, impact is applied to the thick part. Since there is no optical fiber core in this portion, no impact is directly applied to the optical fiber core. Even if an impact is applied to the optical fiber core as a result of the deformation of the sheath layer where the tensile body is present, the impact transmitted to the optical fiber is reduced because the impact is absorbed by the deformation of the sheath layer of the tensile body. Yes. For this reason, an optical fiber core wire is not damaged by an impact. That is, the impact resistance of the cable is improved.
Moreover, as for the vehicle-mounted cable concerning this invention, it is desirable that there is a notch between the optical fiber core wire of the sheath layer and the strength member.
In the vehicle-mounted cable configured in this way, the optical fiber and the tensile body can be easily separated by tearing the sheath layer from the notch portion, facilitating the end processing of the optical fiber.
Moreover, the vehicle-mounted cable with a connector according to the present invention is a vehicle-mounted cable with a connector obtained by attaching the vehicle-mounted cable described in any of the above to a terminal thereof, and the connector is included in the vehicle-mounted cable. An insertion hole having an inner diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the optical fiber core wire is provided at one end thereof, a fixing portion for fixing the vehicle-mounted cable body is provided at the other end, and between the insertion hole and the fixing portion. A space for bending the optical fiber core, removing a sheath layer at one end of the in-vehicle cable, stripping the optical fiber core, cutting the strength member, and passing the optical fiber core through the insertion The optical fiber core wire is inserted into the hole, and the tip of the optical fiber core is housed in a position protruding from the tip of the insertion hole, and the in-vehicle cable is fixed to the connector by the fixing portion.
In the vehicle-mounted cable with a connector configured in this way, the optical fiber core wire stripped off by removing the sheath layer at one end of the vehicle-mounted cable is provided in the connector with an inner diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the optical fiber core wire. The connector can be attached with the covering portion of the optical fiber core wire attached. Also, since the tip of the optical fiber core protrudes beyond the tip of the insertion hole, when the connector is connected to the other device or cable, the tip of the protruding optical fiber is pushed back and fixed to the insertion hole The optical fiber core wire bends in a space where the optical fiber core wire between the portions is bent. At this time, the tip of the optical fiber core moves rearward along the insertion hole without greatly shifting the axis. Therefore, when the connector attached to the in-vehicle cable is attached to the mating member and the tip surface of the optical fiber core is abutted against the tip surface of the mating optical fiber cord, the optical axis is pressed against each other and the optical axis Since there is almost no deviation, it can be optically connected. When a multimode optical fiber or a plastic clad optical fiber is used for the optical fiber core, the core is large, so that the optical connection is maintained even if the optical axis of the optical fiber core included in each cable is slightly shifted. That is, when a multimode optical fiber or a plastic clad optical fiber is used for the fiber core, the optical connection is ensured.
According to the present invention, quartz glass is used at least for the core portion, so that transmission loss can be reduced and transmission capacity can be increased, and high-speed and long-distance transmission is possible. In addition, since a plastic layer having a melting point higher than 150 ° C. is provided on the outer periphery, there is no melting due to heat even when laying in the vicinity of a high-temperature body such as an engine, for example. The effect that the vehicle-mounted cable which is large and has stable transmission characteristics even at a high temperature can be provided.
DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, embodiments according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view showing a first embodiment of a vehicle-mounted cable according to the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 1A, an in-
Here, the silica-based glass means a glass containing quartz as a main component (for example, 90% or more by weight%).

When a plastic clad optical fiber is used for the optical fiber core, the core is made of silica glass and the clad is made of a plastic layer. The core diameter can be set to 0.200 mm, for example, and the cladding diameter can be set to 0.235 mm, for example. When a plastic clad optical fiber is used, it is not necessary to provide a plastic layer around the clad layer, and the outer periphery of the clad layer can be used as a sheath layer.
As shown to FIG. 1B, it is good also as a vehicle-mounted cable containing two optical fiber core wires, and good also as a vehicle-mounted cable containing three or more optical fiber core wires.

As shown in FIG. 3, in the in-
In this way, by using a multimode optical fiber having a

As shown in FIG. 5, in the vehicle-mounted
Thus, since the thickness of the

FIG. 9 shows the measurement results of the specific configuration, size and transmission loss, impact resistance test, connection loss, etc. of the vehicle-mounted

The loss of signal light having a wavelength of 850 nm transmitted by the cable at this time was 1.9 dB / km. This can be said that the transmission loss can be greatly improved considering that the loss at the same wavelength when a plastic optical fiber is used for the optical fiber core wire is usually about 250 dB / km. In the impact resistance test, the wire was broken at the eighth time.

The in-vehicle cable of the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and appropriate modifications and improvements can be made.
