Description
The present invention relates to an atmospheric pressure corona discharge generator.
Atmospheric pressure corona discharge has typical discharge modes of glow mode and streamer mode. The selection of each mode changes depending on the electrode arrangement, electrode structure and shape and state of the electrode surface, the surrounding gas atmosphere, the magnitude of the applied voltage, etc., so the control is based on many empirical rules, A simple control method has not been established.
The technique introduced in
The problem to be solved is that in atmospheric pressure corona discharge, either the glow mode or the streamer mode occurs depending on many discharge parameters such as the value of applied voltage, electrode shape, and atmospheric gas. For this to occur, special processing of the electrode tip or discharge running-in operation is required.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and the feature thereof is the following (1).
(1). As shown in the basic configuration diagrams of FIGS. 1-A and 1-B, in the electrode structure in which the voltage application electrode versus the ground electrode forms an unequal electric field under an atmospheric pressure environment, the ground-side electrode 3.4 is used. Is divided into two or more by providing a small insulating gap C, and then grounded to a
The present invention forms an unequal electric field and generates an atmospheric pressure corona discharge to divide it into two or more by providing a small gap on the ground side electrode and insulating the divided electrode via a switch. Ground. Glow mode and streamer mode discharges can be selected by applying a positive DC high voltage to the voltage application electrode to generate discharge and turning on and off the attached switch.
In addition, the generation of streamer discharge does not require a technique based on an empirical rule such as adjustment of the discharge state by a break-in operation regardless of the shape and surface state of the electrode on the voltage application side.
In various fields of atmospheric pressure corona discharge, existing discharge generators can be used as they are, and the discharge mode can be selected and a stable state can be maintained by improving the ground side electrode. Furthermore, the discharge mode can be automatically controlled by combining the switch operation with a sensor or the like.
Typical examples of the electrode structure in which the voltage application electrode and the ground electrode form an unequal electric field in the present invention include a needle pair plate electrode, a line pair plate electrode, and a line pair cylinder electrode.
The voltage application electrode in the electrode mechanism of the present invention is typically a needle electrode with a sharp tip, a thin rod electrode, or a thin line electrode with a small diameter. By applying a high voltage, the electric field in the vicinity of the voltage application electrode is reduced. It has a function of easily exceeding the breakdown field strength.
The ground-side electrode in the electrode mechanism of the present invention is for forming an electric field between the voltage application electrodes and has a function of flowing a discharge current. The ground-side electrode has a structure divided into two or more, each divided electrode is insulated, and one of them is grounded through a switch.
In the present invention, the minute insulating gap that divides the ground side electrode into two or more is composed of a structure in which the divided electrode is supported by an insulator from behind the divided electrode, and the switch connected to one of the divided electrodes is turned off. In this case, it has a function of causing the charge accumulated in the divided electrodes to be creeping discharged in the minute insulating gap portion. For this reason, when the applied voltage is increased, the creeping discharge in the minute insulating gap portion having a constant width becomes stronger.
In the ground-side electrode of the present invention, the divided electrode grounded via the switch directly leads the current flowing into this electrode to the ground when a discharge occurs (when the switch is turned on) or to another divided electrode around it. Either a current is allowed to flow through the minute insulating gap (when the switch is off). The other divided electrode is grounded without a switch as it is, so that a positive DC high voltage is applied to the voltage applying electrode, and the glow mode is applied between the voltage applying electrode and the ground divided electrode by turning on the switch. The corona discharge is generated and the switch is turned off to generate the streamer mode corona discharge between the voltage application electrode and the ground divided electrode.
The arrangement of the divided electrode with the switch and the other divided electrode is related to the distance from the voltage application electrode, and it is necessary to design the discharge current to flow into the other divided electrode through the minute insulating gap when the switch is turned off. .
The switch in the present invention generally has a function of turning on and off a minute corona discharge current, and a commercially available normal toggle switch (insulation resistance, 500 V, 500 MΩ or more) can be used.
The corona discharge generator of the present invention is not affected by environmental changes such as atmospheric pressure and humidity, as long as the minute insulating gap between the divided electrodes is not short-circuited due to condensation or the like.
Even in the exhaust gas flow environment, unless the minute insulation gap is short-circuited, the influence on the operation of the apparatus is considered to be small.
Example 1 shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B is a

Example 2 shown in FIGS. 5 (A) and 5 (B) is a line 9 pair
FIG. 6 shows a glow mode when the switch is on, and FIG. 7 shows a streamer mode when the switch is off. The discharge in the electrode space in the cross-sectional view of FIG. 5- (B) is taken from the direction perpendicular to the line electrode. The results shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 indicate that the electrode interval is 1 cm. The mode switching is the same as in the first embodiment. The characteristics of each mode are the same as those in the first embodiment. However, it is possible to generate a discharge in a large space by extending the discharge lines long or paralleling them.
In Example 3 shown in FIG. 8, a pair of
Example 4 shown in FIGS. 10- (A) and 10 (B) is a line 9 pair coaxial cylindrical
FIG. 11 shows a glow mode when the switch is on, and FIG. 12 shows a streamer mode when the switch is off. The discharge in the electrode space in the cross-sectional view shown in FIG. 10- (B) is photographed through a metal mesh. The mode switching is the same as in the first embodiment. The features of each mode are the same as in the first embodiment. Since the system of the line 9 pair coaxial cylindrical divided
