Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a hydrogen generator for generating hydrogen gas to be supplied to a fuel cell.
A fuel cell is an energy source that is attracting attention because it has higher power generation efficiency than other power generation systems and does not generate substances that pollute the atmosphere. In order to generate power in the fuel cell, air (oxygen) is supplied to the cathode and hydrogen is supplied to the anode. Hydrogen becomes hydrogen ions and electrons by the catalytic reaction at the anode, and the hydrogen ions move through the electrolyte and react with oxygen by the catalytic reaction at the cathode to become water. On the other hand, the electrons travel through the external circuit and move to the cathode. Electric energy is generated by the movement of the electrons.
As described above, it is necessary to supply hydrogen as a fuel to the fuel cell. Accordingly, various apparatuses for generating hydrogen are known and disclosed in, for example,
In addition, a hydrogen gas generation unit disclosed in Patent Document 3 below includes a tank for containing water, a reaction vessel containing a metal that generates hydrogen by a chemical reaction with water, and a proximity to the reaction vessel. Heating means, an introduction pipe for introducing water contained in the tank into the reaction container, a return pipe for introducing hydrogen generated in the reaction container and unreacted water into the tank, hydrogen in the tank and And a discharge pipe for discharging water. A pump is used to introduce the tank water into the reaction vessel, thereby controlling the amount of water supplied to the reaction vessel. The reaction container is accommodated in the apparatus main body, and is closely held by the heating means. Thereby, the water introduced into the reaction vessel is heated to become water vapor, and the reaction for generating hydrogen gas in the reaction vessel can be promoted.
In such a hydrogen generator, it is necessary to control or limit the amount of water fed into the reaction vessel. There is a problem that excessive hydrogen gas is generated when a large amount of water is fed. In order to control (limit) the feed amount of water, it is preferable to use a pump. However, a space for housing the pump and a mechanism for driving the pump are required, which increases costs and enlarges the apparatus. In particular, when a hydrogen generating cell is incorporated in a portable device such as a notebook personal computer or a PDA, a configuration capable of realizing as small a size as possible is required. That is, a hydrogen generation cell that can supply water without using a pump is desired.
This invention is made | formed in view of the said situation, The subject is equipped with the hydrogen generator which can restrict | limit supply amount when supplying water from a water accommodating part to a metal accommodating part, and this hydrogen generating apparatus. A fuel cell system is provided.
In order to solve the above problems, a hydrogen generator according to the present invention provides:
A hydrogen generator for generating hydrogen gas to be supplied to a fuel cell,
A metal housing for housing the metal,
A water storage section for storing water to be reacted with the metal in the metal storage section;
Water supply means for supplying water in the water storage portion into the metal storage portion using capillary action;
It is characterized by comprising a gas outlet for guiding hydrogen gas generated by the reaction of metal and water out of the metal housing.
The operation and effect of the hydrogen generation cell having such a configuration will be described. This hydrogen generator includes a metal storage part and a water storage part. A metal that reacts with water in the water storage portion to generate hydrogen gas is stored in the metal storage portion. Examples of the metal include iron and aluminum. Water in the water storage part is guided from the water storage part to the metal storage part in a form that is sucked by the water supply member using a capillary phenomenon. The water supplied to the metal container causes a chemical reaction with the metal in the metal container. Thereby, hydrogen gas is generated, and this hydrogen gas is supplied to the fuel cell by the gas outlet.
Therefore, the amount of water supplied from the water storage unit is limited by the water supply means using the capillary phenomenon, and it is possible to prevent excessive water supply. The limit amount of water by the water supply means can be set based on the material of the water supply means, the size of the water supply means, and the like. As a result, it is possible to provide a hydrogen generator that limits the supply amount when water is supplied from the water storage unit to the metal storage unit.
The water supply means according to the present invention is preferably water supply paper. If it is water supply paper, it can obtain easily and can also hold down cost low. Further, it can be easily incorporated into the water storage section.
The water supply means according to the present invention is preferably formed of a porous material. By using such a material, an appropriate amount of water can be supplied to the metal accommodating portion.
In the present invention, a metal container constituting the metal container,
It is arranged so as to surround this metal container, and comprises a water container that constitutes the water container,
The water supply means is preferably arranged so as to straddle both the metal container and the water container.
The metal storage portion and the water storage portion can each be configured in the form of a storage container, and thus a structure with excellent assemblability can be obtained. In addition, the water supply means can be smoothly supplied to the metal storage portion by arranging the water supply means so as to straddle both the metal storage portion and the water storage portion.
In the present invention, the shutter is disposed at the boundary between the metal storage portion and the water storage portion and is controlled to be opened and closed.
It is preferable that the water supply means is disposed in the vicinity of the shutter on the metal housing portion side.
By disposing such a shutter, the amount of water supply can be controlled more accurately. In addition, by arranging the water supply means in the vicinity of the shutter in the metal accommodating portion, the water that has entered from the opening of the shutter is once sucked by the water supply means. Thereby, the amount of water supplied from the shutter can be limited.
In this invention, it is preferable to provide the water holding body which hold | maintains water adjacent to a water supply means. As the water holder, for example, absorbent cotton can be used, and the supplied water can be held in a form soaked in absorbent cotton. With such a water holder, water is not immediately supplied to the metal, but the water holder can have a buffer function.
In the present invention, a gas detection means for detecting the amount or pressure of hydrogen gas generated in the metal accommodating portion,
It is preferable to include a shutter control unit that controls opening and closing of the shutter based on the detection result by the gas detection means.
The shutter opening / closing control is performed so that an appropriate amount of water is supplied to the metal accommodating portion. When the amount of hydrogen gas generated is too large, it is necessary to suppress the amount of water supplied. Conversely, when the amount of hydrogen gas is too small, it is necessary to increase the amount of water supplied. Therefore, by detecting the amount and pressure of the generated hydrogen gas and controlling the opening and closing of the shutter, it is possible to control to supply an appropriate amount of water.
In this invention, it is preferable to provide the pressurization means which makes a pressure act on the water in a water accommodating part.
By applying pressure to the water, it is possible to cause the water to surely move in the direction inside the metal housing portion. For example, in the case of the configuration in which the shutter is provided as described above, water can be reliably supplied through the opening of the shutter.
In this invention, it is preferable to provide the communication part which connects accommodating parts in the partition part which partitions off a metal accommodating part and a water accommodating part, and arrange | positions the said water supply means in this communicating part.
According to such a configuration, the water supply means is disposed in the communication portion formed in the partition wall portion, so that water can be stably supplied into the metal housing portion. Further, by making the size of the communication part appropriate, it becomes possible to supply water more stably.
In the present invention, it is preferable that second water supply means is provided on the inner wall surface constituting the metal accommodating portion, and that water supplied by the water supply means can be further supplied to the metal via the second water supply means.
When water is supplied to the metal in the metal accommodating part, it is preferable that water can be supplied evenly regardless of the location in the accommodating part. Then, by providing the 2nd water supply means in an inner wall surface, while receiving the water supplied via a communicating part, it can supply water uniformly with respect to the whole metal accommodated.
In order to solve the above problems, a fuel cell system according to the present invention includes a hydrogen generator according to the present invention and a power generation cell that generates power by supplying hydrogen gas from the hydrogen generator. About a power generation cell, it is not limited to a specific structure, The power generation cell of arbitrary structures and the hydrogen generator which concerns on this invention can be combined.

In this embodiment, the
<Another embodiment>
In this embodiment, although aluminum was mentioned as an example of a metal, it is not limited to this, You may use another metal (for example, iron). The shape of the water supply paper is not limited to a specific shape, and various modifications can be considered.
In this embodiment, water supply paper is given as an example of water supply means (water supply member), but is not limited to this, and has a function of supplying water by capillary action with a porous material. Anything such as metal, ceramic and resin can be used.
It is also possible to configure the water supply means without using the water supply member. For example, an extremely fine hole (corresponding to a water supply means) may be formed in the bottom of the
