Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a resin boot typified by, for example, a steering rack boot or a constant velocity joint boot used in an automobile or the like.
As a resin boot, a steering rack boot (hereinafter simply referred to as a rack boot) covering a ball joint between a steering gear box and a tie rod of an automobile is known. An axial cross-sectional view schematically showing a general rack boot is shown in FIG. 11, and the shape of the general rack boot will be described below.
The rack boot includes a
By the way, the rack boot may hit a pebble or the like that has bounced back when the automobile is running. At this time, pebbles hit the
If the valley is formed thick, the strength is increased and the rack boot can be prevented from breaking. For this reason, it is desired to develop an impact-compatible rack boot in which a trough is formed thick to improve impact resistance.
Here, the resin boot is generally manufactured by an injection blow molding method (so-called injection blow molding method). The injection blow molding method is a molding method that uses three molds of an inner mold, a first divided outer mold, and a second divided outer mold. A cavity is formed between the inner mold and the first divided outer mold. In this method, the parison is injection-molded in the cavity, and the parison is placed in the second divided outer mold together with the inner mold and blow-molded. According to this method, there is an advantage that a molded product having a complicated shape can be manufactured with high accuracy and the manufacturing efficiency is excellent.
In the injection blow molding method, generally, blow molding is performed in a state where the inside of the parison is softened. For this reason, when the parison is bulged by blow molding, a trough that becomes a fulcrum becomes thin. For this reason, if the wall thickness of the valley portion is increased, the thickness of the mountain portion becomes very large, and the stretchability of the rack boot is impaired. Therefore, the above-described impact-compatible rack boot has a problem inferior in stretchability.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and a method of manufacturing a resin boot that increases the thickness of a valley while preventing the thickness of a peak from becoming excessive by an injection blow molding method. The purpose is to provide.
The manufacturing method of the resin boot of the present invention that solves the above problems includes a hollow abdomen in which ridges and valleys are alternately continuous, a first tube part formed on one end side of the abdomen, and an abdomen A second cylindrical portion formed on the other end of the resin boot, comprising: an inner mold having a columnar shape and an injection portion for injecting compressed air outward; A first split outer mold having a first mold surface having a diameter larger than the outer shape of the mold; and a parison forming step for injecting molten resin into a cavity formed to form a cylindrical parison; An inner mold and a parison in a second divided outer mold having a second mold surface in which a crest-forming part that is depressed into a shape corresponding to the shape and a valley-forming part that rises in a shape corresponding to the trough are alternately continuous The parison set process to place the parison and the parison from the inner spout while the parison is softened A first blow step for inflating the parison by a predetermined amount by injecting the first compressed air toward the inside; and a second compressed air by injecting the second compressed air from the ejection portion toward the inside of the parison. A second blow step of bulging and contacting the mold surface, wherein at least one valley forming portion has a height of at least a portion of the top portion not more than both side portions sandwiching the top portion, and the second blow step In the above, it is characterized in that the flow of the softened parison is interfered in a region between a pair of interference portions composed of both side portions sandwiching the top portion.
In the resin boot manufacturing method of the present invention, it is preferable that the outer surface of the parison is brought into contact with the interference portion in the first blowing step.
In the method for manufacturing a resin boot of the present invention, the top portion of the valley forming portion preferably has any of the following shapes.
(1) A flat surface is formed.
(2) A depressed surface is formed.
In the method for manufacturing a resin boot of the present invention, at least one valley forming portion has a height of at least a portion of the top portion which is lower than both side portions (a pair of interference portions) sandwiching the top portion. In other words, the pair of interference portions in the second split outer mold are arranged at positions close to the parison in at least one valley forming portion. The parison swelled in the first blow process or the second blow process first comes into contact with the pair of interference portions. For this reason, when the resin boot is formed by bulging the parison, the parison is pressed to the inner peripheral side of a portion of the parison that faces a region between the pair of interference portions (hereinafter referred to as an interference region). A relative pressing force from the interference portion acts. For this reason, the flow of the parison facing the interference region is interfered, and it becomes difficult to extend in the direction of the mountain forming portion. Therefore, the valley formed by the interference region becomes thick. And the parison which faces the area | region of the mountain formation part side rather than each interference part expands while extending in the mountain formation part direction similarly to normal injection blow molding. For this reason, the thickness of the mountain portion does not become excessive. Thus, according to the resin boot manufacturing method of the present invention, while using the injection blow molding method, it is possible to increase the thickness of the valley portion of the resin boot and to prevent the thickness of the peak portion from becoming excessive. it can.
In the resin boot manufacturing method of the present invention, when the outer surface of the parison is previously brought into contact with the interference portion in the first blowing step, the relative pressing from the interference portion to the outer surface of the parison is performed in the second blowing step. Pressure can be applied reliably. Accordingly, the parison flow can be more reliably interfered by the interference region, and the valley can be more reliably formed thick.
When the manufacturing method of the resin boot of the present invention is configured as in the above configurations (1) and (2), the pair of interference portions and the top portion can be formed in a simple shape, so the cost required for the second split outer mold Since it can reduce, there exists an advantage which can manufacture a resin boot cheaply.
The method for producing a resin boot of the present invention is a method for producing a resin boot made of a resin material typified by polyester or polyurethane. Moreover, the manufacturing method of the resin boot of this invention is a manufacturing method of the resin boot using the injection blow molding method which can increase the thickness of a trough part without increasing the thickness of a peak part.
Hereinafter, the manufacturing method of the resin boot of this invention is demonstrated based on drawing.

The parison formation step is a step of forming a parison using the inner mold and the first divided outer mold. FIG. 2 shows an axial cross-sectional view schematically showing the inner mold, the first divided outer mold, and the parison in the parison formation process.

(Parison setting process)
The parison setting process is a process of arranging the
After the parison formation process, the first divided

(First blow process)
In the first blow process, the

(Second blow process)
In the second blowing step, the
After the first blow step, the air supply device is operated again, and the second compressed air is injected from the
Further, in the first blow process, the temperature of the
After the second blowing step, the molded product was cooled and solidified, and a predetermined portion was cut to obtain a resin boot of this example.

(Example 2)
The manufacturing method of the resin boot of Example 2 is the same method as Example 1 except the shape of a 2nd division | segmentation outer type | mold, and is provided with the said structure (2). FIG. 9 shows an enlarged view of the main part of the second divided outer mold and the parison in the second blowing step of the present embodiment.
In the manufacturing method of the resin boot of the second embodiment, the
Also in the manufacturing method of the resin boot of the present embodiment, since the raised height of the

In the resin boot manufactured by the resin boot manufacturing method of Example 2, the thickness t2 of the

(Comparative Example 1)
The resin boot manufacturing method of Comparative Example 1 is different from Example 1 in the shape of the second split outer mold. The resin boot manufactured by the method of Comparative Example 1 is a conventional resin boot in which both the thickness of the crest and the thickness of the trough are small. The principal part enlarged view which represents typically the 2nd division | segmentation outer mold | type used with the manufacturing method of the resin boot of the comparative example 1 is shown in FIG.
In Comparative Example 1, the injection amount of the molten resin in the parison formation process is the same as that in Example 1. The parison obtained in the parison formation step is the same as that of the first embodiment. Further, in the second split
The resin boot manufactured by the resin boot manufacturing method of Comparative Example 1 had a valley thickness of 0.68 mm and a peak thickness of 0.95 mm.
(Comparative Example 2)
The manufacturing method of the resin boot of the comparative example 2 is the same as the comparative example 1 except the thickness of the parison in a parison formation process. The resin boot manufactured by the method of Comparative Example 2 is a conventional impact-resistant resin boot in which both the thickness of the crest and the thickness of the trough are large.
In Comparative Example 2, the amount of molten resin injected in the parison forming process is larger than that in Comparative Example 1. The parison obtained in the parison formation step is thicker than that of Comparative Example 1. The second split outer mold used in Comparative Example 2 is the same as Comparative Example 1.
In the manufacturing method of the resin boot of Comparative Example 2, the height of the top portion is larger than that of both side portions sandwiching the top portion. For this reason, like the comparative example 1, the interference effect | action of the parison flow resulting from an interference part does not arise in a 2nd blow process. Therefore, when the thickness of the valley is increased using a thick parison, the thickness of the mountain becomes excessive. The resin boot obtained in Comparative Example 2 has a valley thickness similar to that of the resin boot obtained in Example 1, and the mountain thickness is much greater than that of the resin boot obtained in Example 1. Is getting bigger.
The resin boot manufactured by the resin boot manufacturing method of Comparative Example 2 had a valley thickness of 0.81 mm and a peak thickness of 2.2 mm.
(Impact resistance test)
The resin boots manufactured in each Example and the resin boots manufactured in each Comparative Example were subjected to an impact resistance evaluation test. Each resin boot was attached to the steering device, and it was analyzed whether or not the resin boot was broken when an impact was applied to the resin boot in various sizes. Specifically, when a weight of 154 g is naturally dropped onto the resin boot, the level of the fall height is taken, and the resin boot breaks with a probability of 5 times out of 5 times (E100), with a probability of 2.5 times out of 5 times The impact energy (J) acting on the resin boot when it broke (E50) and when it did not break (E0) was calculated. The results of the impact resistance test are shown in Table 1.
As shown in Table 1, the impact resistance of the resin boots of Example 1 and Example 2 where the wall thickness of the valley is large is very superior to that of the conventional resin boot (Comparative Example 1). It is the same level as the impact-resistant resin boot (Comparative Example 2). Therefore, it can be seen that according to the method for producing a resin boot of the present invention, a resin boot having excellent impact resistance can be produced.
