Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a photoelectric conversion material made of an organic semiconductor and a photoelectric conversion device using the same.
Alternative energy sources such as solar power and wind power are being promoted as clean energy sources to replace petroleum energy, which has problems such as resource depletion and air pollution. In particular, the power generation method using solar cells does not require a large-scale power generation facility, can be used anywhere, and is excellent in safety and quietness.
Solar cells are classified into inorganic solar cells using inorganic materials such as silicon semiconductors as photoelectric conversion materials and organic solar cells using organic materials such as organic semiconductors. Conventionally, inorganic solar cells with high energy conversion efficiency have been mainly developed (conversion efficiency is about 25% for single crystal silicon and about 12% for amorphous silicon), but inorganic solar cells are made of materials. Since it is expensive and the manufacturing process is complicated, it is difficult to reduce costs, which has been a major factor that hinders the spread of solar cells.
In recent years, among organic solar cells, Gratzel-type dye-sensitized solar cells have achieved energy conversion efficiencies as high as 10%, which are comparable to inorganic solar cells. Compared to inorganic solar cells, organic solar cells have the advantage of low manufacturing costs of 1/5 to 1/10, less resource constraints, and simple manufacturing processes. Research is progressing toward the realization.
Gratzel-type dye-sensitized solar cells use iodine-containing electrolyte, and have many problems to be solved in terms of stability and durability. On the other hand, among organic solar cells, the organic solar cell called Bulk Heterojunction type organic thin film solar cell is a simple structure in which a thin film made of a photoelectric conversion material in which organic molecules of an electron donor and an electron acceptor are uniformly mixed is sandwiched between different electrodes. It has a remarkable structure, is easy to fabricate, does not require a high-temperature process, has excellent stability and durability, and has attracted attention.

By doping fullerene (C 60 ) into a conductive polymer serving as a host material of a photoelectric conversion material, there is an effect that the fluorescence intensity due to light irradiation is remarkably attenuated and the photocurrent is enhanced. This is because electrons excited in the conductive polymer by light irradiation are captured by fullerene having a high electron affinity, and therefore, the probability of recombination with holes generated simultaneously with the electrons is reduced. The generated electrons move between the fullerenes as electron acceptors by hopping, and the generated holes move between the conductive polymers as electron donors by hopping. Since the lifetimes of electrons and holes serving as photoconductive carriers are increased, the photocurrent is increased.
Conventional solar cells using a photoelectric conversion material having an electron acceptor of fullerenes (empty fullerenes) cannot obtain a photocurrent enhancement effect high enough to replace inorganic solar cells.

(Method for producing endohedral fullerenes)
The endohedral fullerenes according to the present invention, for example, generate plasma by injecting encapsulated atomic vapor onto a hot plate heated in a vacuum vessel, and irradiate the generated plasma flow to a deposition plate disposed downstream of the plasma flow. It can be produced by a method of depositing endohedral fullerenes.

(Purification of endohedral fullerenes)
In addition to the endohedral fullerenes, the generated film deposited on the deposition plate includes empty fullerenes and encapsulated atoms that are not encapsulated in the fullerenes. When producing a photoelectric conversion material using endohedral fullerenes as an electron acceptor, it is preferable to remove substances other than endohedral fullerenes as much as possible to increase the purity of the endohedral fullerenes in order to enhance the effect of enhancing photoelectric conduction. .
In order to increase the purity of the endohedral fullerenes, the produced film is peeled off from the deposition plate and made into a powder form, and then, depending on the solubility of the substances other than the endohedral fullerenes and the endohedral fullerenes in a specific solution, The method of concentrating endohedral fullerenes in a residue insoluble in For example, with respect to toluene, empty fullerene has higher solubility than Li-encapsulated fullerene, and Li-encapsulated fullerene can be concentrated by repeating the operation of dissolving in toluene and collecting the residue.
From the product containing concentrated endohedral fullerenes, the endohedral fullerenes are finally isolated by HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) according to the difference in retention time in the column.

(Photoelectric conversion film consisting of endohedral fullerenes and electron-donating organic materials)
Hereinafter, the best mode of the photoconductive enhancement agent according to the present invention will be described by taking electron-accepting endohedral fullerenes and electron-donating organic materials as examples. In addition, the technical scope of this invention is not limited to the following forms.

As shown in FIG. 1B, the light represented by hν enters the photoelectric conversion material made of P3HT doped with Li-encapsulated fullerene through the

(Method for producing photoelectric conversion film)
A photoelectric conversion film using the photoelectric conversion material of the present invention can be manufactured by an extremely simple process. The powdered endohedral fullerene produced and isolated by the above-described endohedral fullerene production method and purification method is dissolved in a solvent such as carbon disulfide. The electron donating organic material is dissolved in a solvent such as toluene. The endohedral fullerene solution and the electron donating organic material solution are stirred ultrasonically to disperse the endohedral fullerene sufficiently uniformly in the electron donating organic material.
The dope amount of the endohedral fullerene is, for example, preferably 1 wt% or more and 60 wt% or less as the weight% of Li @ C 60 with respect to P3HT. When the endohedral fullerene is too small, electrons excited by light irradiation are not efficiently captured by the endohedral fullerene, and the photocurrent cannot be increased sufficiently. In addition, the endohedral fullerene is an expensive material as compared with the electron donating organic material, and there is a problem that the production cost increases when the amount of the endohedral fullerene is increased. Even if the number of electron donors is too small compared to the electron acceptor, the number of electron-hole pairs excited by light irradiation is reduced, so that photoconductivity hardly occurs. It is possible to optimize the photoelectric conversion efficiency by setting the ratio of the endohedral fullerene to the electron donating organic material within the appropriate range described above.
(Photo battery)
By sandwiching the photoelectric conversion film between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, a photovoltaic cell such as a solar cell can be manufactured.
For the positive electrode, it is preferable to use an electrode material having a work function comparable or larger than that of the HOMO level of the photoelectric conversion film. Further, in view of the use as a photovoltaic cell, it is preferable that at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode is transparent or translucent. Examples of such an electrode material include gold (for example, in the form of a semi-permeable membrane) and ITO (Indium Tin Oxide).
Next, for the negative electrode, it is preferable to use a stable electrode material having a work function smaller than that of the anode. For example, an alloy such as aluminum, silver, Mg—In, or Mg—Ag can be given. As described above, it is preferable that at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode is transparent or semi-transmissive in relation to the use as a photovoltaic cell.
(Light sensor)
An optical sensor using a bulk heterojunction type photoelectric conversion film is an optical sensor that operates on the principle similar to that of an animal photoreceptor, and functions as an extremely sensitive optical sensor. The number of carriers consisting of excited electrons and holes is controlled by the difference in the intensity of light incident on the optical sensor, so the electrodes arranged at regular intervals on the photoelectric conversion film, or the photoelectric conversion film from above and below The incident light intensity can be measured by measuring the current, voltage, or resistance value between the sandwiched electrodes.
The photosensor prepared using the photoelectric conversion material using the endohedral fullerene of the present invention as an electron acceptor has a higher content of endohedral fullerene than the photosensor prepared using the photoelectric conversion material using an empty fullerene as an electron acceptor. Since the efficiency of capturing electrons is high and the mobility of electrons in the endohedral fullerene is large, it is possible to perform light detection with higher sensitivity than conventional optical sensors.
In addition, about the manufacturing method of the photoelectric conversion apparatus of this invention, it can manufacture by a well-known and usual method, About those conditions, those skilled in the art can set suitably.

<Production Example 1>
(Li-included fullerene production example)
For the production of the endohedral fullerene containing Li, a production apparatus having a structure shown in FIG. 4B in which an electromagnetic coil was arranged around a cylindrical stainless steel container was used. Li used as the raw material used was Li made by Aldrich, and C 60 used as the raw material used was C 60 made by Frontier Carbon. The vacuum vessel was evacuated to a vacuum degree of 4.2 × 10 −5 Pa, and a magnetic field with a magnetic field strength of 0.2 T was generated by an electromagnetic coil. The encapsulated atomic sublimation oven was filled with solid Li and heated to a temperature of 480 ° C. to sublimate Li to generate
The deposited thin film was peeled off from the deposition plate, the powdered thin film was dissolved in a solvent made of carbon disulfide, and fullerene not containing Li and fullerene containing Li were separated by HPLC.
FIG. 5 shows mass spectrometry data of Li-encapsulated fullerene produced by the method for producing endohedral fullerene. A peak with a mass number of 720 corresponding to C 60 and a peak with a mass number of 727 corresponding to 7 Li @ C 60 were observed. The sample with a mass number of 727 confirmed was further dissolved in a hydrochloric acid solution, and the residue insoluble in the hydrochloric acid solution was subjected to mass spectrometry again. Appeared in the intensity. Therefore, Li, instead of being added to the outside of the C 60 molecules, it was confirmed to be contained in the interior of the C 60 molecule.

Li @ C 60 5wt% doped P3HT 29.9nA
C 60 10wt% doped P3HT 18.5nA
non-doped P3HT 2.3nA
Because
(1) The photocurrent of P3HT doped with 10% by weight of Li @ C 60 is about 20 times that of undoped P3HT.
(2) Li @ P3HT a C 60 to 10 wt% doped to P3HT was 10 wt% doped C 60, the photocurrent is increased about 2.5 times.
(3) Increasing the doping amount of Li @ C 60 for P3HT increases the photocurrent.
