Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a suction device, a printing device, and a microarray manufacturing apparatus.
In general, in an inkjet printing apparatus, in order to eliminate ejection failure due to ink clogging or generation of bubbles in a nozzle hole and to perform normal ejection, the operation of filling the ejection liquid to the tip of the nozzle hole by suction (priming) or the nozzle hole It is necessary to perform an operation of sucking and removing the thickened material inside.
However, in the method described in the above document, a filter formed of fine fibers of polytetrafluoroethylene is used as the gas permeable filter. For this reason, when it attracts | sucks through the said filter, there exists a possibility that a liquid may reach the nozzle hole which adjoins along the fiber of a filter. Then, for example, when ink is ejected as different types of liquid between adjacent nozzle holes, ink color mixing (contamination) may occur, which may cause image quality degradation.
In recent years, a droplet discharge method using a droplet discharge head has also been used in the manufacture of microarrays such as DNA chips used for disease diagnosis and development of new drugs. It is necessary to eliminate or to fill the nozzle tip with liquid. In such a microarray such as a DNA chip, high measurement accuracy is required. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent contamination between nozzle holes.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a suction device, a printing device, and a droplet discharge device that can suppress contamination between nozzle holes of a droplet discharge head.
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention provides a suction device that sucks the nozzle holes of a droplet discharge head having a plurality of arranged nozzle holes from the outside, and includes the nozzle holes of the droplet discharge head. A cap that covers and forms a closed space; and a filter that is provided on the opening side of the cap so as to close the opening at a position where it can contact the surface of the droplet discharge head on which the nozzle holes are formed. And a suction means for sucking the inside of the cap from the outside, wherein the filter has a plurality of through holes arranged in parallel with a partition wall therebetween and extending in the film thickness direction of the filter, However, the present invention provides a suction device having a size that is included in at least one distance between adjacent nozzle holes of the droplet discharge head.
According to this configuration, since the filter is provided with a plurality of through-holes having a size such that at least one is included in the distance between adjacent nozzle holes, the plurality of nozzle holes share one through-hole. There is nothing to do. In addition, since the adjacent through holes are separated from each other by the partition wall, it is possible to avoid the liquid discharged from one nozzle hole from being contaminated by scattering to the adjacent nozzle hole. Therefore, contamination between the nozzle holes of the droplet discharge head can be suppressed. Moreover, since it has a structure provided with a plurality of such through holes, it is not necessary to align the nozzle holes with the through holes of the filter in order to suck the nozzle holes.
It is preferable that the size of the through hole is smaller than the size of the nozzle hole of the droplet discharge head. According to this, since a plurality of through holes are in contact with one nozzle hole, the necessary suction performance can be ensured without positioning the through holes and the nozzle holes.
The shape of the through hole is not particularly limited, and may be any of a circle, an ellipse, and a polygon (eg, a triangle, a quadrangle, a pentagon, a hexagon, etc.), or a mixture of these. There may be. Among these, the shape of the through hole is preferably a triangle, a quadrangle, or a hexagon. According to this, the through holes can be densely arranged in the filter. Therefore, it is possible to substantially reduce the area of the partition wall that separates the through holes from each other, so that the suction performance is improved when sucking through the filter.
It is preferable that the filter has a honeycomb structure. According to this, the through holes can be densely arranged in the filter.
The filter is an elastic body and has a thickness capable of absorbing surface irregularities on the surface on which the nozzle holes are formed when the filter is brought into close contact with the surface on which the nozzle holes are formed. Is preferred. According to this, surface irregularities on the surface on which the nozzle holes are formed (hereinafter also referred to as the nozzle formation surface) can be absorbed, so that the adhesion can be further improved.
It is preferable that the filter has a self-adsorption property. According to this, it becomes possible to further improve the close contact with the nozzle forming surface. Here, the “self-adsorbing property” refers to a property that can be adsorbed to an object due to the property of the material itself (eg, the molecular structure of the material).
It is preferable to provide a support member that has liquid permeability and supports the filter in the cap. According to this, it can be avoided that the filter is attracted to the suction side by the suction force at the time of suction, and the adhesion between the nozzle forming surface and the filter is weakened.
It is preferable that an absorption material for absorbing the liquid sucked from the nozzle hole is further provided on the suction surface side of the filter. According to this, since the absorbing material is provided, it is possible to avoid contamination of the nozzle forming surface due to splashing of the sucked liquid or reverse flow. This is particularly effective when the filter is thin.
When the filter is brought into close contact with the surface of the droplet discharge head on which the nozzle hole is formed, the filter further includes a buffer material having a buffering action capable of absorbing surface irregularities on the surface on which the nozzle hole is formed. preferable. By including the buffer material, for example, even when the filter is a material that is thin and does not have much elasticity, it is possible to absorb surface irregularities on the nozzle forming surface and improve adhesion.
The printing apparatus of the present invention includes the suction device. According to this, since the suction device is provided, it is possible to suppress ink color mixing between adjacent nozzle holes.
The microarray manufacturing apparatus of the present invention includes the suction device. According to this, since the suction device is provided, contamination between adjacent nozzle holes can be suppressed.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described.
FIG. 1 is a view for explaining the suction device of the present embodiment.
As shown in FIG. 1, the suction device according to the present embodiment mainly includes a cap 31, a filter 33, and a
The cap 31 forms a space that is depressurized by the
The filter 33 is for suppressing contamination between the nozzle holes 51 at adjacent positions when the nozzle holes 51 are sucked. The filter 33 has a plurality of through-
The through-
The thickness of the partition walls separating the through
The shape of the nozzle hole 51 in the film thickness direction is not particularly limited, but is preferably a straight hole having a substantially linear shape in the film thickness direction. Thereby, it becomes possible to improve attraction.
The filter 33 is provided on the opening side of the cap 31 so as to close the opening at a position where it can come into contact with the surface (nozzle formation surface) 53 on which the nozzle holes 51 of the
A configuration example of the filter 33 will be described later.
A pump 35 (eg, a decompression pump, a tube pump, etc.) as a suction means is connected to the cap 31 via a tube 41. This makes it possible to reduce the pressure inside the cap 31 when the

FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining a modification of the
As shown in FIG. 3A, the
As illustrated in FIG. 3B, the
In the above example, a member having both a buffering action and an absorbing action is taken as an example, but a member having a buffering action and a member having an absorbing action may be used separately.
Next, a configuration example of the filter 33 will be described.
As the filter 33, for example, a filter made of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is used. PDMS is preferably used because it has good workability and is a material having self-adsorption properties.
An example of a method for manufacturing the filter 33 using PDMS will be given.
FIG. 4 is a diagram for explaining a manufacturing method of the filter 33 using a molding material (PDMS).
As shown in FIG. 4A, first, a
When PDMS is used, fine processing using a mold can be performed in this way, so that it is possible to easily obtain a filter 33 in which the shape of the through hole, the hole diameter, and the distance between the through holes are arbitrarily adjusted.
Further, instead of PDMS, a porous film such as a polycarbonate sheet (manufactured by ADVANTEC, trade name: polycarbonate type membrane filter) can be used.
