Abstract
Description
3種類の触媒ウォッシュコートをを試験した。比較触媒Aは、現状技術水準の、熱安定性の高表面積担体上に5Pt:1Rhの比、および総貴金属担持量60gft−3で担持されたPt/RhTWCである。
混乱したラムダの走査
例1と同じエンジンを使用し、触媒入口を温度450℃にした。ラムダ走査は、10%混乱(ラムダ=1より10%低い、すなわち0.147ラムダ低い値からラムダ=1より10%高い(1.147ラムダ)値の間のサイクル)および周波数1Hzを使用して行った。これらの条件は、排気機構(該排気機構は、触媒入口の上流に、ラムダ=1の条件を維持するために、エンジン制御装置にフィードバックするラムダセンサーを包含する)中に配置されたTWCへの入口における排ガス組成を模擬するように選択した。
エンジン試験
ベンチテスト室で、4気筒、1.8リットル、1997年製の、日本国市場用に校正された自動車から得た三菱直噴エンジンに直流ダイナモメーターを取り付けた。例1により製造した触媒基材をエンジン排気マニホルドから約30cmの接近位置に取り付けた。基材体積は、エンジン掃気容積(swept volume)(ESV)の22%にあたる。2列のMEXA(Motor Exhaust Gas Analyser)9500センサーを使用してNOx、EC、CO2、およびO2の濃度を測定し、触媒の上流および下流におけるガス濃度を連続的に測定した。触媒入口の温度は熱電対で測定した。

Claims (36)
- 通常走行条件の間は化学量論的空燃比で走行し、エンジン速度/負荷マップの特定部分の間は化学量論的空燃比のリーン側で走行するようにエンジンの空燃比を制御するようにプログラム化されたエンジン制御装置と、触媒とを備えてなる排気機構を備えた火花点火エンジンであって、
前記触媒が、NOx貯蔵成分を包含する三元触媒(TWC)を備えてなり、
前記エンジン制御装置が、リーン走行運転の際、センサー手段から入力されるデータに応答して、前記TWCと接触するNOxの量を決定し、それによって前記TWCの残留NOx貯蔵容量を決定し、前記残留NOx貯蔵容量が予め決められた値より低い場合に前記空燃比を化学量論に戻すようにさらにプログラム化されており、化学量論的モードで連続的に運転される火花点火エンジンと比較して、エンジンサイクル中により多くのNOxが大気中に放出されるのを実質的に阻止するように設定されている、エンジン。 - 前記エンジン速度/負荷マップの特定部分がアイドリングである、請求項1に記載のエンジン。
- 前記エンジン速度/負荷マップの特定部分が、前記エンジンから排出されるNOxレベルがエンジンアイドリング時の10倍までである走行条件を含んでなる、請求項1または2に記載のエンジン。
- 時計を備えてなり、前記センサー手段から入力されるデータが、予め決められた、または予知される、リーン走行運転の開始から経過した時間を包含する、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記予知される時間が、続いて入力データに応答して調節される、請求項4に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段が前記TWC上の空気流を検出し、前記入力データが前記検出された値を包含する、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段がマニホルド真空を検出し、前記入力データが前記検出された値を包含する、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段が点火タイミングを検出し、前記入力データが前記検出された値を包含する、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段がエンジン速度を検出し、前記入力データが前記検出された値を包含する、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段がスロットル位置を検出し、前記入力データが前記検出された値を包含する、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段がラムダセンサー、好ましくはリニアラムダセンサーであり、前記入力データが、前記TWCの上流および/または下流で検出されたラムダ値を包含する、請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段が前記エンジン中に噴射された燃料の量を検出し、前記入力データが前記検出された値を包含する、請求項1〜11のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 排ガス再循環(EGR)回路を備えてなり、前記センサー手段がEGRバルブの位置を検出し、前記入力データがEGRの検出量を包含する、請求項1〜12のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段が前記エンジンの冷却剤温度を検出し、前記入力データが前記検出された値を包含する、請求項1〜13のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記センサー手段がNOxセンサーを備えてなり、前記入力データが前記TWCの上流および/または下流で検出されたNOxの量を包含する、請求項1〜14のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- ガソリンエンジンである、請求項1〜15のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- ポート燃料噴射エンジンである、請求項16に記載のエンジン。
- 直噴式エンジンである、請求項16に記載のエンジン。
- 液体石油ガス、天然ガス、メタノール、エタノールを包含する炭化水素混合物または水素ガスを燃料とする、請求項1〜15のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記TWCが少なくとも一種の白金族金属(PGM)を含んでなる、請求項1〜19のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記少なくとも一種のPGMが、白金(Pt)、パラジウム(Pd)、ロジウム(Rh)、ルテニウム、オスミウムまたはイリジウムまたはそれらのいずれか2種類以上の組合せである、請求項20に記載のエンジン。
- 前記NOx貯蔵成分が、アルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属または希土類金属またはそれらのいずれか2種類以上の組合せを含んでなる、請求項21または22に記載のエンジン。
- 前記アルカリ金属がカリウムまたはセシウムである、請求項22に記載のエンジン。
- 前記アルカリ土類金属がマグネシウム、カルシウム、ストロンチウムまたはバリウムである、請求項22に記載のエンジン。
- 前記希土類金属がランタニド族の金属、好ましくはランタン、である、請求項22に記載のエンジン。
- 前記TWCが酸素貯蔵成分(OSC)をさらに含んでなる、請求項20〜25のいずれか一項に記載のエンジン。
- 前記OSCが、所望により安定化したセリア、ペロブスキー石、NiO、MnO2、アルミナ含有混合酸化物上に担持されたマンガン系化合物、マンガンとジルコニウムの混合酸化物、Pr2O3またはこれらの2種類以上の組合せを含んでなる、請求項26に記載のエンジン。
- 前記セリアの安定剤が、ジルコニウム、ランタン、アルミニウム、イットリウム、プラセオジムまたはネオジムである、請求項27に記載のエンジン。
- 前記TWCが、第一内側層中の第一PGM、好ましくはPt、およびNOx貯蔵成分、および第二外側層中のOSCおよび第二PGM、好ましくはRh、を含んでなる、請求項1に記載のエンジン。
- 請求項1〜29のいずれか一項に記載のエンジンを備えてなる車両。
- 前記TWCが接近位置にある、請求項30に記載の車両。
- 未使用TWCが、高温エージングの後でも十分なNOx貯蔵容量を維持するのに十分なNOx貯蔵成分を包含する、請求項30または31に記載の車両。
- NOx貯蔵成分を包含するTWCを備えてなる排気機構を備えた火花点火エンジン用のエンジン制御装置であって、
通常走行条件の間は化学量論的空燃比で走行し、エンジン速度/負荷マップの特定部分の間は化学量論のリーン側で走行するように前記エンジンの空燃比を制御し、リーン走行運転の際、センサー手段から入力されるデータに応答して、前記TWCと接触するNOxの量を決定し、それによって前記TWCの残留NOx貯蔵容量を決定し、前記残留NOx貯蔵容量が予め決められた値より低い場合に前記空燃比を化学量論に戻すようにプログラム化されており、化学量論的モードで連続的に運転される火花点火エンジンと比較して、エンジンサイクル中により多くのNOxが大気中に放出されるのを実質的に阻止するように設定されている、エンジン制御装置。 - 通常走行条件の間は化学量論的空燃比で走行する、NOx貯蔵成分を包含するTWCを備えてなる排気機構を備えてた火花点火エンジンにおける排ガス処理方法であって、
エンジン速度/負荷マップの特定部分の間は化学量論のリーン側で走行するように前記エンジンの空燃比を制御する工程、およびリーン走行運転の際、センサー手段から入力されるデータに応答して、前記TWCと接触するNOxの量を決定し、それによって前記TWCの残留NOx貯蔵容量を決定し、前記残留NOx貯蔵容量が予め決められた値より低い場合に前記空燃比を化学量論に戻す工程を含んでなり、化学量論的モードで連続的に運転される火花点火エンジンと比較して、エンジンサイクル中により多くのNOxが大気中に放出されるのを実質的に阻止するように設定されている、方法。 - 付随する例を参照して本明細書中に実質的に説明するエンジン。
