Abstract
Description
本発明は、放送チャネルを介するインターネット・プロトコル(「IP」)・マルチキャスト・サービスの送信に関する。
最も共通のタイプのIP通信はユニキャスト通信であり、換言すれば、それにおいては、通信は、ノードの個々のアドレスが送信されるデータグラムにおいて識別されるそのノード間で確立される。サーバが同じデータグラムを2以上のアドレスに送ることになる場合、それは、データグラムを個々のアドレスのそれぞれを用いて反復しなければならない。従って、送信のユニキャスト方法は、多くの宛先に対してのメッセージ又は他の通信の大量の分配に適しているであろう。
ディジタル放送と一緒に送信されるマルチキャスト・サービスのための伝送帯域幅(「スペクトル」)の使用を節約することが望ましい。
本発明は、添付の特許請求の範囲に記載されているようにインターネット・プロトコル(IP)マルチキャスト・サービスを放送チャネルを介して与える方法及び放送装置を提供する。
図1は、インターネット・プロトコル・データグラムをディジタル・ビデオ放送ネットワークを介して伝送する装置を示す。当該放送ネットワークは、アンテナ(aerial)1を含む送信機装置を備え、各アンテナ1は、その動作範囲により規定されるそれぞれの放送セル2をカバーする。本発明のこの実施形態においては、放送システムは、欧州通信標準化協会(「ETSI」)に従ったディジタル・テレビジョン放送システムである。しかしながら、他の放送標準を本発明の他の実施形態で用いてよい。図示された特定のシステムは、標準DVB−Tに従った地上放送システムであるが、しかし本発明がまた、例えば、同様に、衛星から又はケーブル・システムを介して放送するため適用可能であることが認められるであろう。当該システムは、ビデオ及びオーディオのコンテンツを含むテレビジョン信号、及び関連の信号情報のソースを含み、そしてアンテナ1から受信機又はユーザ端末装置3への送信は、単方向である。
Claims (11)
- 少なくとも、要求(18)が1つのユーザ局(9)からマルチキャスト・データに関して受信された場合、マルチキャスト・データが、マルチキャスト・ルータ(8)を通ってユーザ局(9)にディジタル放送チャネルを介してディジタル放送信号と一緒に送信されるインターネット・プロトコル・マルチキャスト・サービス提供方法であって、
前記マルチキャスト・ルータによる前記マルチキャスト・データの送信が、複数の前記ユーザ局(9)による前記マルチキャスト・ルータからの前記マルチキャスト・データに関する前記要求(18)の受信を条件としていることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記マルチキャスト・ルータによる前記マルチキャスト・データ(22)の送信は、前記ユーザ局(9)からスレッショルド数より大きい数の前記要求(18)を受信することを条件としており、
前記スレッショルド数が、前記放送チャネルを介したマルチキャスト送信のため使用可能な帯域幅の関数である
請求項1記載の方法。 - 前記ユーザ局(9)が繰り返し問い合わせをされ、
前記マルチキャスト・ルータによる前記マルチキャスト・データ(22)の連続した送信が、複数の前記ユーザ局(9)からの応答(18)の受信を条件としている
請求項1又は2記載の方法。 - 前記ユーザ局(9)からの前記マルチキャスト・データの前記要求(18)に関する情報が、前記ユーザ局(9)のうちの他のユーザ局にとって使用不能である請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記信号及びデータが、インターネットと放送インフラストラクチャと(4,5及び10)の間のゲートウエイ(6)を介してそれぞれの放送範囲に送信され、
1つの放送範囲内の前記マルチキャスト・データ(22)の送信は、前記放送範囲によりサービス提供される複数の前記ユーザ局(9)からの前記マルチキャスト・データに関する前記要求(18)のそのゲートウエイでの受信を条件としている
請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - 将来のマルチキャスト・データ送信セッションの告知(17)が、前記ユーザ局(9)に前記放送チャネルを介して送信される請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記ユーザ局(9)からの前記マルチキャスト・データに関する要求(18)は、前記マルチキャスト・マネジャ局(14)により前記放送チャネルとは異なるリンクを介して受信され、
前記マルチキャスト・マネジャ局(14)が、前記セッションの送信を、前記ユーザ局からの前記要求(18)の数の関数として制御する
請求項6記載の方法。 - 将来のマルチキャスト・データ送信セッションの取り消し又は現在のマルチキャスト・データ送信セッションの終了の告知が、前記ユーザ局(9)に前記放送チャネルを介して送信される請求項6又は7記載の方法。
- 前記ユーザ局(9)が、単方向のリンク・ルート付けプロトコルを用いて前記放送チャネルとは異なる通信リンクを介して前記マルチキャスト・データに応答する請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記マルチキャスト・データ(22)を前記ユーザ局(9)に前記ディジタル放送チャネルを介して前記ディジタル放送信号と一緒に送信する送信機手段(1,10)と、
複数の前記ユーザ局(9)からの前記マルチキャスト・データに関する前記要求の受信に選択的に応答して、前記マルチキャスト・データ(22)を前記送信機手段(1,10)に供給するマルチキャスト・データ供給手段と
を備える、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の方法によりインターネット・マルチキャスト・サービスを与える装置。 - 前記マルチキャスト・データ供給手段が、
前記送信機手段(1,10)にインターネット・インフラストラクチャ(4,5)を介してリンクされるマルチキャスト・サーバ(7)と、
前記インターネット(4,5)と放送インフラストラクチャ(10)との間のゲートウエイ(6)と、
前記ゲートウエイ(6)によりサービス提供される放送範囲内において前記ユーザ局から受信された前記マルチキャスト・データ(22)に関する前記の数の要求(18)に選択的に応答して前記マルチキャスト・データ(22)の送信を使用可能にする手段とを備える請求項10記載の装置。
