Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a mobile communication terminal apparatus that performs high-speed data communication with a base station, and more particularly, to a mobile communication terminal apparatus that efficiently controls a transmission power amplifier that amplifies transmission power to a base station. .
第3世代と呼ばれる通信方式のうち、W−CDMA(Wideband Code division Multiple Access)方式が、2001年より日本で商用サービスが開始されている。 Among the communication systems called third generation, W-CDMA (Wideband Code division Multiple Access) system has been commercialized in Japan since 2001. In a system that provides a communication service using the W-CDMA scheme, a mobile station and a base station have a downlink in which the base station transmits data to the mobile station and an uplink in which the mobile station transmits data to the base station. Communication is performed at a communication speed of about 2 Mbps (bit per second). In recent years, HSDPA (High Speed Down Link Packet), which adds a new downlink (channel for packet transmission) in addition to the conventional downlink, in order to realize higher speed of data transmission using the downlink. Access) method has been proposed and studied. When a new downlink is added, a dedicated control channel (signaling channel) for transmitting response data to downlink high-speed packet data transmitted via the new downlink from the mobile station to the base station is added. There is a need.
By the way, in a system for realizing HSDPA, a dedicated control channel is added to the uplink from the mobile station to the base station. Therefore, when the base station permits the mobile station to perform communication using HSDPA, the mobile station needs to additionally multiplex a signaling channel for controlling communication using HSDPA on a normal uplink. For this reason, at the time of communication using HSDPA, there arises a problem that the multiplex wave number of the modulation signal modulated by the mobile station increases and the PAR (Peak to Average Ratio) of the modulation signal changes. Further, there arises a problem that the PAR changes depending on the multiplexing wave ratio (a combination of the amplitude coefficients βc and βd) of the additional signaling channel. The HPA is designed so that its linearity is optimal when the PAR is at a specific level. Therefore, when the PAR changes, the optimal linearity of the HPA also changes, and the ACLR (adjacent channel leakage power: Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio) and efficiency will be degraded. Specifically, for example, when the HPA is optimized and designed when the number of multiplexed waves is large, the linearity of the HPA becomes excessive and the ACLR characteristics are improved when the number of multiplexed waves decreases and the PAR becomes small. However, since the efficiency of HPA is low, power consumption increases. On the other hand, if the HPA is optimized and designed when the number of multiplexed waves is small, when the number of multiplexed waves increases and the PAR increases, the linearity of the HPA has no margin and the ACLR characteristics deteriorate. However, since the efficiency of HPA increases, power consumption can be reduced.
In a system using the W-CDMA communication system, a mobile communication terminal device transmits a signal at a low output level by far longer than transmitting a signal at a high output level. That is, in order to reduce the power consumption of HPA, it is necessary to reduce the power consumption at the time of low output.
In addition, as a general power amplifier control method, as disclosed in
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems.
図1は、HSDPA(High Speed Down Link Packet Access)技術が用いられた移動通信システムの構成を示す説明図である。

The spreading
When communication using HSDPA is permitted from the base station to the mobile station and the mobile station starts HS-DPCCH transmission, the mobile station additionally multiplexes a signaling channel for controlling communication using HSDPA in a normal uplink. Then, a link for transmitting control data for HSDPA communication to the base station is established. Therefore, during communication using HSDPA and during normal communication not using HSDPA, the multiplex wave number of the modulation signal transmitted by the mobile station changes, and the PAR (Peak to Average Ratio) of the modulation signal varies. Further, PAR varies according to the above-described βhs. As described above, when the PAR changes, the linearity required for the HPA also changes. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the linearity of the HPA so as to be suitable for the PAR after the change. The linearity of the HPA can be adjusted, for example, by controlling the bias voltage that drives the HPA. For example, when the DPDCH is a single code and βhs is fixed to a certain value, the PAR of the modulation signal is, for example, a combination of an amplitude coefficient βd that multiplies the DPDCH data and an amplitude coefficient βc that multiplies the DPCCH data. There is a correlation as shown in FIG.
FIG. 4 is a graph showing the relationship between combinations of values that βc and βd can take and the amount of PAR increase. The amplitude coefficients βc and βd are coefficients for determining the amplitudes of the DPCCH control data and the DPDCH data. If the combination of the amplitude coefficients βc and βd is βc / βd, the value is 1/15 to 15/0. expressed. That is, the combination of βc and βd represents the amplitude ratio of DPCCH and DPDCH. In FIG. 4, the vertical axis indicates the amount of increase in PAR, and the horizontal axis indicates βc / βd. As shown in FIG. 4, PAR changes according to βc / βd and βhs. In FIG. 4, although the case where βhs is limited is shown, there is a PAR characteristic for βhs described in 3GPP TS25.213 (V5.5.0).
Hereinafter, a process for determining an optimum bias voltage to be supplied to the HPA after the start of HSDPA communication based on the amplitude coefficients βd, βc, βhs will be described. FIG. 5 is a flowchart showing the operation of the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to
本実施の形態では、図4のβhs=b<A、βhs=a>Aと仮定する。
When HS-DPCCH transmission is not performed (No in step 3), the PAR of the modulation signal does not change, and thus it is not necessary to correct the bias voltage supplied to the HPA. Therefore, in
In
In step 9, in order to determine an appropriate correction amount of the bias voltage, the combination of βc and βd is recognized, and it is determined whether the combination of βc and βd is in the range of 1/15 to B / C. “B / C” here is, for example, set to 15/15 from FIG. 4 when the increase in PAR is allowed up to PAR a dB. If the combination of βc and βd is in the range of 1/15 to B / C as a result of the determination process in step 9 (Yes in step 9), the amount of increase in PAR is relatively small and is supplied to the HPA. It is not necessary to greatly correct the bias voltage to be applied. Therefore, in step 10, the bias voltage correction amount V_mod_offset = 3 is set. On the other hand, if the combination of βc and βd is outside the range of 1/15 to B / C (No in step 9), it is assumed that the amount of increase in PAR is larger than that in step 10, so HPA It is necessary to greatly correct the bias voltage to be supplied. Therefore, in step 11, the bias voltage correction amount V_mod_offset = 4 is set. It should be noted that the numerical values “1”, “2”, “3”, and “4” of V_mod_offset = 1, V_mod_offset = 2, V_mod_offset = 3, and V_mod_offset = 4 are determined by the combination of βc and βd. It is a numerical value set for convenience in order to explain the magnitude of the correction amount, and has no particular meaning.
The correction amount V_mod_offset of the bias voltage to be supplied to the HPA is determined by the processing from
As described above, the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to the present invention increases the number of multiplexed signals modulated by a mobile station during communication using HSDPA, according to the amplification ratio (βhs) of the additional signal. This solves the problem that the PAR (Peak to Average Ratio) of the modulation signal changes. In order to solve such a problem, the mobile communication terminal device according to the above description controls the bias voltage supplied from the power source to the HPA according to the combination of βc and βd and βhs, and thereby the HPA according to the changed PAR. Optimally controls the linearity of Therefore, it is possible to improve the ACLR characteristics in the mobile station during HSDPA communication and to obtain the effect of improving the HPA efficiency.
During communication using HSDPA and normal communication not using HSDPA, the multiplex wave number and multiplex wave ratio of the modulation signal modulated by the mobile station change, and the PAR (Peak to Average Ratio) of the modulation signal changes. When the PAR changes, the linearity required for the HPA also changes. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the linearity of the HPA so as to be suitable for the PAR after the change. The mobile communication terminal apparatus described in the first embodiment pays attention to the fact that the PAR of the modulation signal changes according to the combination of amplitude coefficients βc and βd and βhs, and according to the combination of amplitude coefficients βc and βd and βhs. HPA linearity was controlled.
Hereinafter, the operation of the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to
When βhs is smaller than A (Yes in Step 5), as a result of the determination process in
Next, processing for obtaining a bias voltage Vbias to be supplied to the HPA is performed based on Pout. The
As described above, the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to the present invention obtains V_mod_offset according to the combination of the amplitude coefficients βc and βd and βhs, and the bias voltage suitable for the transmission power Pout given from the V_mod_offset and the upper layer. Select. Therefore, even when the transmission power (the output power Pout at the antenna end) transmitted from the mobile station to the base station is adjusted within a predetermined range, an optimum bias voltage is given to the HPA, and the performance of the HPA is kept good. There is an effect that can be. In this embodiment, the criterion for determining βhs and βc / βd is one point, but a bias offset amount for all combinations of βhs and βc / βd may be set.
In addition, an optimum bias is given to the HPA according to the transmission output power.
However, the linearity of the HPA is limited within the adjustable range, and it is difficult to give optimum efficiency and distortion in accordance with all output powers and PARs of the modulation signals. Therefore, by making the output power at the antenna end variable within a certain range, the performance required for the HPA can be relaxed.

The transmission output power Pout at the antenna end of the mobile station is represented by a value obtained by adding the correction amount P_mod_offset of the power of the modulation signal output by the HPA and the power P_reference of the modulation signal output by the HPA. Based on Pout obtained as described above, a process for obtaining the bias voltage Vbias supplied to the HPA is performed. The
As described above, the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to the present invention obtains the power correction amount P_mod_offset of the modulation signal output by the HPA according to the combination of the amplitude coefficients βc and βd and βhs, and uses this P_mod_offset as a reference value. The transmission power Pout at the antenna end is obtained by addition, and a bias voltage suitable for the transmission power Pout is selected. Therefore, even when the transmission power (the output power Pout at the antenna end) transmitted from the mobile station to the base station is adjusted within a predetermined range, an optimum bias voltage is given to the HPA, and the performance of the HPA is kept good. There is an effect that can be.
The mobile communication terminal according to

Depending on βhs in
図9に示すように、HPA25に入力される変調信号の電力は、可変利得増幅器VGA61(Variable Gain Amplifier)により補正される。
FIG. 9 is a block diagram showing a detailed configuration of the
As described above, when the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to the present invention starts communication using HSDPA and the bias voltage of the HPA changes, the change of the gain of the HPA that changes due to the correction of the bias voltage is performed. Can be suppressed within a predetermined range by correcting the power of the modulation signal input to the HPA. Therefore, even if the bias voltage is corrected according to the combination of βc and βd in order to prevent the problem that the communication using HSDPA is permitted and the PAR changes and the ACLR changes, the change in HPA gain remains constant. It becomes possible to suppress to the range, and it becomes possible to realize stable communication with the base station.

In the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to
Hereinafter, the operation of the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to Embodiment 5 will be described. FIG. 10 is a flowchart for explaining the operation of the mobile communication terminal apparatus according to Embodiment 5 of the present invention. In FIG. 10, steps having the same numbers as those in FIG. 8 perform the same or corresponding processes, and thus description thereof will be omitted unless particularly necessary. The
Depending on βhs in

In the HS-DPCCH signal, ON / OFF is determined in the upper layer in the slot unit and added. When the DCDC converter can operate at a sufficiently high speed, the required bias voltage is determined from the output power and the PAR in the corresponding slot, and is given to the HPA, so that a high efficiency can always be maintained. However, when the response characteristic of the DCDC converter is longer than the ramp time between slots (for example, the ramp time ± 25 us defined in 3GPP TS25.101 (V5.8.0)), the HSDPA mode is set. Regardless of whether or not the HSDPA signal is added at the time, maintaining the bias voltage in a high state in advance causes a slight decrease in efficiency during the HSDPA mode period, but obtains a good ACLR characteristic and stable output power. Can do.
Embodiment 7.
Since output is possible in a state corrected in advance in synchronization with the change in gain when the bias of HPA is changed, the output power can be kept stable without relying on APC (Auto Power Control). . However, in order to effectively use the dynamic range of the DAC, when the peak signal is assigned in the vicinity of the LSB and MSB of the DAC, that is, when the I · Q output rms (root means square) decreases according to the PAR. Even if the gain of the VGA is the same, the power input to the HPA becomes small. Since they can be known in advance, stable output power can be obtained by correcting the VGA gain together. Further, as another control method, there is a method of directly performing gain correction by controlling the amplitude of the IQ signal by widening the DAC dynamic range according to the required PAR.
