Abstract
Description
本発明はポリカーボネート樹脂製直下型バックライト用光拡散板に関する。更に詳しくは、優れた面発光性を有し、発光面の輝度の低下が小さく、画像の色調変化も小さい芳香族ポリカーボネート樹脂製直下型バックライト用光拡散板に関する。 The present invention relates to a light diffusion plate for a direct backlight of a polycarbonate resin. More specifically, the present invention relates to a light diffusing plate for a direct type backlight made of an aromatic polycarbonate resin, which has excellent surface light-emitting properties, a small decrease in luminance of the light-emitting surface, and a small change in image color tone.
芳香族ポリカーボネート樹脂は、機械的特性、耐熱性、耐候性に優れている上、高い光線透過率を備えた樹脂として幅広い用途に使用されている。例えばスカイドーム、トップライト、アーケード、マンションの腰板、道路側壁板等の建築分野にも多量使用されている。 Aromatic polycarbonate resins have excellent mechanical properties, heat resistance, and weather resistance, and are used in a wide range of applications as resins having high light transmittance. For example, it is also used in large quantities in the construction field such as skydomes, top lights, arcades, condominium waistboards, and road side walls.
Many of these uses are used as white light diffusion plates. Conventional white light diffusion plates made of polycarbonate resin (hereinafter referred to as milky white plates) are prepared by adding a light diffusion agent such as calcium carbonate and titanium oxide to a polycarbonate resin. A method (see Patent Document 1), a method in which polymer fine particles partially cross-linked to a polycarbonate resin are added and mixed (see Patent Document 2), an infusible acrylic polymer fine particle, titanium oxide and a silicon compound are mixed and added to the polycarbonate resin. A method (see Patent Document 3) has been proposed.
その他の用途として、小型液晶ディスプレイ及び小型液晶テレビのエッジライト方式もしくは直下型バックライト方式の面光源体やスキャナーの面光源体等に用いられている。 As other uses, it is used for an edge light type or direct backlight type surface light source for a small liquid crystal display and a small liquid crystal television, a surface light source for a scanner, and the like.
As a polycarbonate resin composition as an edge light type surface light source body of a liquid crystal display, a resin composition obtained by adding calcium carbonate or a crosslinked polyarylate resin to a polycarbonate resin (see Patent Document 4), a bead-like crosslinked acrylic resin is added to the polycarbonate resin. There are known resin compositions (see Patent Document 5), and resin compositions (see Patent Document 6) in which a bead-like crosslinked acrylic resin and a fluorescent whitening agent are added to a polycarbonate resin.
また、炭酸カルシウムと酸化チタンを含有したポリカーボネート樹脂組成物から形成されたポリカーボネート製液晶ディスプレイバックライト用光拡散シートが開示されている(特許文献7参照)。 Moreover, the light-diffusion sheet | seat for liquid crystal display backlights made from a polycarbonate formed from the polycarbonate resin composition containing a calcium carbonate and a titanium oxide is disclosed (refer patent document 7).
さらに、特許文献8および特許文献9には、ポリカーボネート樹脂に光拡散剤を配合した画像処理装置の透明原稿読取ユニットに使用される光拡散板において、暗色粒状体を特定量以下にすることにより、高い光透過性と良好な光拡散性を有し、かつ微小領域での透過光のムラが少ない光拡散板を得られることが示されている。しかしながら、この光拡散板は、後述する大型液晶テレビ等の用途においては、輝度ムラの点で未だ十分ではないという問題がある。
Further, in
Further, several methods for improving the thermal stability and maintaining the color tone of a light diffusing polycarbonate resin composition containing a light diffusing agent have been disclosed. For example,
On the other hand, light diffuser plates made of polycarbonate and acrylic resin are competing for light diffuser plates for edge ride type or direct backlight type small liquid crystal displays and small liquid crystal televisions. In recent years, liquid crystal displays and liquid crystal televisions, which have been increasing in size to 15 to 39 inches, are becoming mainstream due to the increase in area. At present, acrylic resin light diffusing plates outperform the market in terms of cost competitiveness, but due to their hygroscopic properties, they are easily affected by the increase in size, and polycarbonate light diffusing plates are quality-sensitive (impact resistance, etc. ) Has many advantages and is gradually being used.
しかしながら、大型の液晶ディスプレイや液晶テレビに使用されるポリカーボネート樹脂製直下型バックライト用光拡散板は、バックライトユニットにある冷陰極蛍光ランプが発光する際、該光拡散板は放射される光線の影響を受けて点灯時間が長くなると、発光面の輝度が低下して、実際液晶ディスプレイを通じて見る画像の色調も初期状態から変わって映り、画像全体の視認性において問題が生じていた。 However, the light diffusion plate for direct-type backlight made of polycarbonate resin used for large-sized liquid crystal displays and liquid crystal televisions, when the cold cathode fluorescent lamp in the backlight unit emits light, the light diffusion plate When the lighting time is prolonged due to the influence, the luminance of the light emitting surface is lowered, and the color tone of the image viewed through the liquid crystal display actually changes from the initial state, which causes a problem in the visibility of the entire image.
本発明の目的は、発光面の輝度の低下が小さく、画像の色調変化も小さい芳香族ポリカーボネート樹脂製直下型バックライト用光拡散板を提供することにある。 An object of the present invention is to provide a light diffusing plate for a direct type backlight made of an aromatic polycarbonate resin in which a decrease in luminance of a light emitting surface is small and a change in color tone of an image is small.
本発明者は上記課題を達成せんとして鋭意検討を重ねた結果、拡散板の少なくとも一方の面に紫外線吸収剤含有樹脂被覆層を設け、この被覆層を冷陰極蛍光ランプ側の面になるように設置することにより発光面の輝度の低下が小さく、実際液晶ディスプレイを通じて見える画像の色調の変化も小さくなることを見出し、本発明を完成するに至った。 As a result of intensive studies to achieve the above-mentioned problems, the present inventor provided an ultraviolet absorbent-containing resin coating layer on at least one surface of the diffusion plate so that this coating layer becomes the surface on the cold cathode fluorescent lamp side. As a result of the installation, it has been found that the decrease in luminance of the light emitting surface is small and the change in color tone of the image actually seen through the liquid crystal display is also small, and the present invention has been completed.

カーボネート前駆体としてはカルボニルハライド、カーボネートエステルまたはハロホルメート等が使用され、具体的にはホスゲン、ジフェニルカーボネートまたは二価フェノールのジハロホルメート等が挙げられる。 As the carbonate precursor, carbonyl halide, carbonate ester, haloformate or the like is used, and specific examples include phosgene, diphenyl carbonate, dihaloformate of dihydric phenol, and the like.
In producing polycarbonate resin by reacting the above dihydric phenol and carbonate precursor by interfacial polymerization method or melt polymerization method, a catalyst, a terminal terminator, a dihydric phenol antioxidant, etc. are used as necessary. May be. The polycarbonate resin may be a branched polycarbonate resin copolymerized with a trifunctional or higher polyfunctional aromatic compound, or may be a polyester carbonate resin copolymerized with an aromatic or aliphatic difunctional carboxylic acid, Moreover, the mixture which mixed 2 or more types of the obtained polycarbonate resin may be sufficient.
ポリカーボネート樹脂の分子量は粘度平均分子量で表して通常15,000〜40,000、好ましくは18,000〜35,000である。本発明でいう粘度平均分子量は塩化メチレン100mlにポリカーボネート樹脂0.7gを20℃で溶解した溶液から求めた比粘度(ηsp)を次式に挿入して求めたものである。
ηsp/c=[η]+0.45×[η]2c
[η]=1.23×10−4M0.83
(但しc=0.7、[η]は極限粘度)
The molecular weight of the polycarbonate resin is usually 15,000 to 40,000, preferably 18,000 to 35,000, expressed as a viscosity average molecular weight. The viscosity average molecular weight referred to in the present invention is obtained by inserting the specific viscosity (η sp ) obtained from a solution obtained by dissolving 0.7 g of polycarbonate resin in 100 ml of methylene chloride at 20 ° C. into the following equation.
η sp /c=[η]+0.45×[η] 2 c
[Η] = 1.23 × 10 −4 M 0.83
(Where c = 0.7, [η] is the intrinsic viscosity)
本発明で使用する光拡散剤は微粒子状であり、例えばガラス微粒子に代表される無機微粒子、ポリスチレン樹脂、(メタ)アクリル樹脂、シリコーン樹脂等からの有機微粒子があげられ、なかでも有機微粒子が好ましい。 The light diffusing agent used in the present invention is in the form of fine particles, and examples thereof include inorganic fine particles typified by glass fine particles, organic fine particles from polystyrene resin, (meth) acrylic resin, silicone resin, etc. Among them, organic fine particles are preferable. .
Such organic fine particles are preferably cross-linked organic fine particles, which are at least partially cross-linked during the production process, and are not practically deformed during the processing of the polycarbonate resin and maintain the fine particle state. That is, fine particles that do not melt in the polycarbonate resin even when heated to the molding temperature of the polycarbonate resin (about 350 ° C.) are more preferable, specifically, organic fine particles of a (meth) acrylic resin and silicone resin that are cross-linked. Particularly preferred embodiments include polymer particles based on partially crosslinked methyl methacrylate, poly (butyl acrylate) core / poly (methyl methacrylate) shell polymer, rubbery vinyl polymer core and shell. Examples thereof include a polymer having a core / shell monoholgy [for example, trade name Paraloid EXL-5136 manufactured by Rohm and Hers Company] and a silicone resin having a crosslinked siloxane bond [for example, Tospearl 120 manufactured by Toshiba Silicone Co., Ltd.].
The fine particle light diffusing agent has an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 50 μm, preferably 0.5 to 30 μm, more preferably 1 to 20 μm. The particle size of the light diffusing agent is a weight average particle size measured by a Cole counter method, and the measuring instrument is a particle number / particle size distribution analyzer MODEL Zm of Nikki Co., Ltd. If the weight average particle diameter is less than 0.1 μm, sufficient light diffusibility cannot be obtained and surface emission is inferior. If it exceeds 50 μm, sufficient light diffusibility cannot be obtained and surface emission is inferior, and sufficient light diffusion is achieved. In order to obtain the effect, there are disadvantages that the blending amount is increased, the light transmittance is impaired, and the luminance unevenness is increased.
The blending ratio of the polycarbonate resin and the light diffusing agent is as follows: when the total of the polycarbonate resin and the light diffusing agent is 100 parts by weight, the polycarbonate resin is 99.8 to 80 parts by weight and the light diffusing agent is 0.2 to 20 parts by weight. A ratio of 99.6 to 90 parts by weight of the polycarbonate resin and 0.4 to 10 parts by weight of the light diffusing agent is preferable, and 99.5 to 93 parts by weight of the polycarbonate resin and 0.5 to 7 parts by weight of the light diffusing agent are preferable. The proportion is particularly preferred. If the blending amount of the light diffusing agent is less than 0.2 parts by weight, there may be a problem that the light diffusibility is insufficient and the light source can be seen through. On the other hand, if the blending amount of the light diffusing agent exceeds 20 parts by weight, the light transmittance is lowered and the necessary luminance cannot be obtained.
本発明で使用されるポリカーボネート樹脂製シートの厚さは0.3〜10mm、好ましくは0.5〜8mm、より好ましくは1〜8mmである。0.3mmより薄いと剛性が不足するので適当ではなく、10mmより厚くなると重量的に実用的でない。 The thickness of the polycarbonate resin sheet used in the present invention is 0.3 to 10 mm, preferably 0.5 to 8 mm, more preferably 1 to 8 mm. If it is thinner than 0.3 mm, the rigidity is insufficient, so that it is not suitable. If it is thicker than 10 mm, it is not practical in weight.
ポリカーボネート樹脂製シートを得る方法としては、従来公知の方法、例えば溶融押出法、射出成形、射出圧縮成形、ブロー成形、圧縮成形、粉末成形等で成形することが可能である。 The polycarbonate resin sheet can be obtained by a conventionally known method such as melt extrusion, injection molding, injection compression molding, blow molding, compression molding, powder molding or the like.

A fluorescent whitening agent can be blended in the polycarbonate resin sheet. The fluorescent whitening agent has an effect of improving the color tone of the resin to white or bluish white and improving the luminance of the light diffusion plate of the present invention. Examples of the fluorescent brightener include stilbenzene, benzimidazole, benzoxazole, naphthalimide, rhodamine, coumarin, and oxazine compounds. Here, the fluorescent whitening agent has an action of absorbing energy in the ultraviolet part of the light and radiating this energy to the visible part. The compounding amount of the optical brightener is preferably 0.0005 to 0.1 parts by weight, more preferably 0.001 to 0.1 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total of the aromatic polycarbonate resin and the light diffusing agent. Parts, more preferably 0.001 to 0.05 parts by weight, particularly preferably 0.002 to 0.02 parts by weight. By blending the fluorescent brightening agent in the above range, the surface light emission is sufficient, the effect of improving the color tone of the light emitting surface is obtained, and there is no unevenness in the color tone (hue).

本発明のポリカーボネート樹脂製直下型バックライト用光拡散板は、前記ポリカーボネート樹脂製シートの少なくとも一方の面に紫外線吸収剤含有樹脂被覆層を積層したものである。そして、液晶ディスプレイの直下型バックライトユニットにおいて、本発明の光拡散板は紫外線吸収剤含有樹脂被覆層の面が冷陰極蛍光ランプ側になるように設置される。 The polycarbonate resin light diffusion plate for direct type backlight according to the present invention is obtained by laminating an ultraviolet absorbent-containing resin coating layer on at least one surface of the polycarbonate resin sheet. In the direct backlight unit of the liquid crystal display, the light diffusing plate of the present invention is installed so that the surface of the ultraviolet absorber-containing resin coating layer is on the cold cathode fluorescent lamp side.
The direct-type backlight unit of the liquid crystal display is a cold cathode fluorescent lamp such as a plurality of straight tubes or U-shaped tubes and W-shaped tubes directly under the light emitting surface. A cold cathode fluorescent lamp using a wavelength phosphor is disposed, and a diffusion plate is mounted thereon. In addition, the structure of a cold cathode fluorescent lamp used in a backlight light source for a liquid crystal display has a phosphor on the inner wall of a glass tube in which an appropriate amount of mercury and an inert gas (argon, neon, mixed gas, etc.) are sealed. It is applied and columnar electrodes are attached to both ends of the glass tube.
さらに、その冷陰極蛍光ランプの発光のメカニズムは、電極間に高電圧が印可されると、管内にわずかに存在する電子が電極へ高速に引かれて衝突し、この時に二次電子が放出され放電が始まる。この放電により、陽極に引かれる電子と管内の水銀分子が衝突して、紫外線(250nm前後)が放射され、この紫外線が蛍光体を励起して可視光線を発光させる。 Furthermore, the light emission mechanism of the cold cathode fluorescent lamp is that when a high voltage is applied between the electrodes, a slight amount of electrons in the tube are drawn at high speed and collide with the electrodes, and secondary electrons are emitted at this time. Discharge begins. Due to this discharge, electrons attracted to the anode collide with mercury molecules in the tube, and ultraviolet rays (about 250 nm) are emitted, and the ultraviolet rays excite the phosphor to emit visible light.
しかしながら、この時冷陰極ランプの点灯時間が長くなるとバックライトの面光源ユニットから発せられる光の色調が初期状態から変わりさらに輝度も低下するため、実際液晶ディスプレイを通じて見る画質も初期状態から比べて画像全体が暗くなり、色調が変わってしまうため実用に供し難くなる。 However, if the lighting time of the cold cathode lamp becomes longer at this time, the color tone of the light emitted from the surface light source unit of the backlight changes from the initial state and the brightness also decreases, so the image quality actually viewed through the liquid crystal display is also an image compared to the initial state. The whole becomes dark and the color tone changes, making it difficult to put to practical use.
