C3Hマウス(8週齢、オス、平均重量35g)の背部皮膚(2cm×4cm)を電気バリカン及びシェーバーで刈り、成長期毛に誘導する。翌日より実施例及び比較例の各試料を被験部皮膚に朝夕2回、一匹当り0.2mLを二週間連用塗布した。一試料に対して動物一群10匹使用した。塗布開始14日目に各試料の被験部皮膚をビデオカメラに撮影し、画像解析装置にて毛刈り部及び発毛部の面積を測定した。
毛成長促進効果の判定は、下記に示す発毛率(%)を対照群と比較することにより行った。
毛成長促進効果(%)=(成長毛髪部の面積/毛刈り部の面積)×100

男性型脱毛症患者である被試験者10名の頭部の耳の上5cmの位置の頭髪を左右2カ所に於いて直径1cmの円形状に剃毛した被験部位に、実施例及び比較例の各試料を左側に毎日朝夕2回、約3mL塗布し、無処置の右側と比較した。効果の判定は、試験開始後28日目に、左右の被験部位の毛髪各々20本ずつを剃毛し、下記の式で求めた値で毛成長促進度を評価した。
毛成長促進度 = (B)/(A)
(A):右側(無処置)の毛20本の長さの平均値
(B):左側(実施例及び比較例の試料を塗布)の毛20本の長さの平均値

男性型脱毛症患者である被試験者10名の頭部に毎日朝夕2回、4カ月間塗布し、試験開始前に専門美容師により洗髪を3日間行った。洗髪時に抜けた毛髪を採取し、その本数を計測し、1日当りの抜け毛本数を算出した。試料塗布後の4ヶ月目に再度専門美容師により洗髪を3日間行い、洗髪時に抜けた毛髪を採取、本数計測を行い、1日当りの抜け毛本数を算出した。試験開始前と4ヶ月後の1日あたりの抜毛本数を下記の式で求めた値で脱毛防止効果を評価した。
脱毛防止効果(%) = (D)/(C)
(C):塗布前の1日あたりの抜け毛本数
(D):塗布4ヶ月後の1日あたりの抜け毛本数
