Description

多くのセルラー電話ユーザーは、既に、SIMカードユニット、特に、世界的な高度ディジタル無線通信技術であるGSM("Global System for Mobile Communications":グローバル移動体通信システム)サービス用のSIMカードユニットを持っている。

This British patent application discloses an Internet content, including multimedia content such as newspapers, television and music, by simultaneously broadcasting information to a number of cellular telephone users simultaneously receiving the same broadcast. The invention discloses the first use of a cellular telephone system for mass distribution of digital information having a large content size. The earlier international application contains teachings on how the advantages of the information field will be readily available to mobile users and the like.
[0010]
In order to solve the above and other problems, according to one aspect of the present invention, a wireless telephone receiver using a computer capable of performing telephone communication on a wireless telephone system performs initialization processing of the wireless telephone system. Without having to do so, it can receive broadcast transmissions, optionally with a phone number and a removable electronic auxiliary device encoded with a machine-readable electronic key to receive broadcast communications. In a preferred embodiment, the radiotelephone receiver is a cellular telephone and the electronic auxiliary device is implemented with a subscriber identity module or "SIM" card.
[0011]
A special line for receiving the broadcast is provided on a dual or multi-line SIM card, and the line for receiving the broadcast does not require initialization with a service provider.
[0012]
By encoding or storing the electronic keys and other information needed to access the radio broadcast on a SIM card or other removable auxiliary device, the present invention allows the user to purchase a new device without having to purchase an existing device. A new and convenient method is provided that enables broadcast reception without requiring any modification to the device. Many cellular telephone users already have SIM card units, especially for GSM ("Global System for Mobile Communications") services, a worldwide advanced digital wireless communication technology. I have. With them, one can enjoy the advantages of the cellular radio frequency broadcast according to the invention simply by inserting a SIM card encoded with a telephone number or other key.
[0013]
The wireless handset may be a computer capable of cellular wireless communication, for example, a foldable computer or laptop computer or desktop computer with a docking port that allows a user to insert their cellular telephone and receive a cellular telephone broadcast. It may be a computer.
[0014]
In one preferred embodiment of the invention, multiple broadcast access numbers are stored on a single SIM card that enables multiple broadcasts, allowing multiple broadcasts and channels to be received simultaneously. For example, it is possible to receive and store on one channel and view on another channel. Alternatively, a single television broadcast or other large content can be transmitted and received using more than one channel, increasing the overall data rate and avoiding flicker.
[0015]
In another aspect of the present invention, a wireless telephone utilizing a computer, optionally comprising a telephone number and a removable electronic auxiliary device encoded with a machine readable electronic key, enabling telephone communication on a wireless telephone system. The receiver is capable of receiving broadcast communication and has a function of receiving broadcast transmission from a transmitting / receiving device of a wireless telephone system. Preferably, the radiotelephone receiving device is implemented with a cellular telephone and the electronic auxiliary device is implemented with a SIM card.
[0016]
The SIM card has a plate-like structure with a beveled corner that determines the direction to the cellular phone, and may be of a type inserted into a slot or the like behind the cellular phone.
[0017]
The SIM card also allows a conventional SIM card compatible cellular phone to receive a broadcast by at least one broadcast specific phone number, which is provided by the SIM card compatible cellular phone. No) Add broadcast reception capability.
[0018]
In another aspect of the invention, there is provided a method of communicating and optionally broadcasting a program or a continuous content channel. In this method, a communication from a wireless telephone system is transmitted to a large number of users of a wireless telephone receiver capable of receiving a broadcast transmission from the wireless telephone system without performing initialization processing of the wireless telephone system using a computer. However, the radiotelephone is equipped with a removable electronic auxiliary device, optionally encoded with a telephone number and a machine-readable electronic key, capable of receiving broadcast communications, and furthermore, before broadcasting the communications, Distribute the key.
[0019]
One or more broadcasts simultaneously received by corresponding receivers within the signal range can be provided from a terrestrial or satellite transmitter, if necessary, via the transmitter's cellular network. Optionally, multiple channels can be broadcast simultaneously to individual receivers within range of the transmitting and receiving transceiver.
[0020]
Preferably, the broadcast is created and received for a user who has previously received an electronic key, thereby permitting reception of a particular broadcast or one or more broadcast channels.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

More preferably, however, the broadcast private key is for at least one specific period of time, such as one month, three months, six months or a trial period of one year, two years, three years, or one week. Enable channel reception. The broadcast private key includes a secret code, and the particular broadcast allowed may include a public code. The secret code and the public code are used in combination at the receiving device to process a particular broadcast and allow the viewer to view and record. Preferably, the broadcast personal key further includes a personal code including a personal identifier or an identifier indicating the source of the broadcast personal key. Further, the broadcast private key may include a coding key that allows decryption of the encrypted broadcast. Preferably, if the broadcast private key does not meet the service provider's requirements specified in the particular broadcast signal public key, then viewing or recording of that particular broadcast will not be possible.
[0027]
The secret, public and personal codes may be provided in any desired form, such as numbers, alphanumeric characters, ASCII codes, graphics, icons or other machine-readable codes or combinations thereof.

In another embodiment of the invention,
[0053]
In a conventional cellular telephone, to call, a user turns on a switch and sends an "off-hook" signal to a cellular system provider. The cellular system must receive the off-hook signal and then return a tone to the subscriber or other user. If a transmission tone is received, then the user enters a telephone number from the recording device. The telephone number is transmitted to the cellular system using the appropriate frequency previously set up on the cellular telephone or searched on the fly. In order for a user to be able to send and receive communications, the cellular system must receive and respond to the telephone number. According to the present invention, reception of a broadcast becomes very easy, and an initialization procedure therefor can be omitted.

The software recognizes the received broadcast and controls the computer or
[0066]
The above-mentioned broadcast reception processing function according to the present invention has been described in particular in connection with a cellular telephone, but for example, in light of the disclosure of the earlier international application, the present invention provides a wireless telephone module, It will be appreciated that the invention is applicable to a computer having a receiving device employing a cellular telephone. A wireless telephone module according to the present invention can use a modified SIM card, and the data processing capabilities such as online display and audio playback and file storage will depend on a computer such as a desktop or laptop. Also, a built-in or external wireless reception card can be used.
[0067]
The broadcast can be watched using a cellular telephone receiver built in or connected to the television receiver, and the cellular broadcast can be received by the television receiver. The cellular telephone receiver can output to an antenna input of the television receiver and utilize a conventional connection for receiving terrestrial, satellite or cable television signals. As noted above, the cellular telephone receiver module may be tunable, or may use a tunable SIM card or a multi-channel SIM card. The cellular phone receiver module can be remotely controlled using a remote controller, such as a VCR, and the user can select from viewer programs, including broadcast programs received by the module from a cellular phone service provider. And tune the module to receive it. This embodiment allows a user to switch from watching a cellular telephone television broadcast to viewing on a much larger standard television monitor from viewing on a small cellular telephone video display. It becomes possible to receive a cellular telephone broadcast by the television receiver.
[0068]
Any of the features or all features, services and options disclosed in the earlier international application, if available in a receiving device that supports telephony as described herein, may be used in a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Can also be incorporated.
