Description
【0001】
YS(降伏強さ)、UTS(引張り強度)、El(全体の伸び)、n(引張り硬化率)および曲げ特性(r/t)を測定した。

(Technical field)
The present invention relates to a method for producing an aluminum alloy sheet having improved bending properties and paint baking reaction, and an aluminum alloy sheet obtained by the above production method.
[0002]
(Background technology)
In particular, there is a demand for improving high-performance aluminum alloys for use in the automotive industry, and the demand is becoming stronger. To be beneficial to the automotive industry, aluminum alloy sheet products need to have good forming properties in the desired tempering process and be formed and folded as desired, while simultaneously forming, After painting and baking, the alloy product must have sufficient strength to resist dents and other impacts.
[0003]
It is desired that the AA (Aluminum Association) 6000 series aluminum alloys have a low yield strength (proof stress) in the desired tempering process and a high yield strength in the final product. In the desired tempering process, the yield strength is reduced to obtain good formability and to reduce springback (the applied force when the metal deformed by force tries to return to its original shape). Low is desired, while the final product requires high yield strength to have sufficient dent resistance, even if the thickness is reduced as much as possible to minimize weight.
[0004]
U.S. Pat. No. 5,266,130 (Uchida et al.) Published on Nov. 30, 1993 discloses that, in a cooling step after a solution treatment, the shape of the shape is improved by controlling the heating pattern to improve the shape freezing property. A process for producing an aluminum alloy sheet material having paint bake hardenability is disclosed. Initially, the sheet is rapidly cooled to a quenching temperature of 60-250 ° C. and then further cooled at a rate based on the specific quenching temperature. Certain aluminum alloys containing 0.8% Si, 0.7% Mg, 0.20% Mn and 0.15% Fe have been pre-aged from 150 ° C. to 50 ° C. using a 4 ° C./min cooling rate ( pre-aging) processing is performed. Other alloys containing 0.8% Si, 0.7% Mg, 0.30% Cu, 0.10% Mn, 0.15% Fe, 0.02% Ti and 20 ppm B have the same aging treatment. I need.
[0005]
U.S. Pat. No. 5,616,189 (Jin et al.), Published Apr. 1, 1997, discloses magnesium, silicon, and optionally copper in an amount suitable for making sheets used in the automotive industry. Aluminum alloys are disclosed. The present invention discloses a process for producing an aluminum alloy with suitable properties for use in the automotive industry. Among the aluminum alloys, an alloy containing 0.30% Cu, 0.50% Mg, 0.70% Si, 0.05% Mn, and 0.22% Fe, and 0.29% Cu, 0. An alloy containing 52% Mg, 0.68% Si, 0.07% Mn, and 0.21% Fe has been analyzed. Sheets made from these alloys require a pre-aging treatment at 85 ° C. for 5 hours. The invention describes that the sheet is looped at 85 ° C. and cooled slowly to room temperature at a cooling rate of 10 ° C./hour or less.
[0006]
An object of the present invention is to provide a further improved process technique for forming an aluminum alloy sheet having excellent bending properties and paint baking response.
[0007]
The paint bake response of conventional AA (Aluminum Association) 6000 series aluminum alloys is complex. At given conditions, these alloys contain a large number of clusters and zones of uniform size. These clusters and zones are evenly distributed throughout the matrix. In the paint protection process, some irregular clusters and zones of small particle size remelt within the matrix, while other clusters and zones grow during the curing process and improve strength. The exact mechanism that explains how its folding properties and paint bake response are improved is not generally known. It is believed that the manufacturing method of the present invention slows the formation of clusters and zones and forms clusters and zones that do not mostly remelt during the paint protection step. Therefore, a number of clusters and zones of uniform size are used for nucleation of the hardening particles, thereby improving the aging response.
[0008]
(Disclosure of the Invention)
The alloy according to the present invention comprises 0.50 to 0.75 wt% Mg, 0.7 to 0.85 wt% Si, 0.15 to 0.35 wt% Mn, 0.1 to 0.3 wt%. AA6000 series automotive aluminum alloy containing wt% Fe, balance Al and incidental impurities. Preferably, the alloy contains 0.2-0.4% Cu.
[0009]
This alloy is cast into ingots by semi-continuous casting, i.e., direct chill casting (DC). The ingot is homogenized, hot rolled to the required thickness during the next rolling, then cold rolled and solution treated. The heat treated sheet may be cooled to a desired initial pre-aging temperature. The sheet product obtained in this way requires the preliminary aging treatment according to the present invention. This preliminary aging may be the final step of the solution treatment step or a part of the separated reheating step.
[0010]
For pre-aging, the sheet material starts from the initial pre-aging temperature. The pre-aging temperature is at least 80 ° C and may be 175 ° C or higher. The initial pre-aging temperature is preferably in the range of 95-200C, more preferably 95-185C. Starting from this pre-aging temperature, the sheet material is rapidly cooled to room temperature, ie, 25 ° C., at a cooling rate of 5 ° C./hour or more.
[0011]
A combination of excellent bending properties and paint bake response is achieved by (a) a specific composition of the alloy and (b) an appropriate pre-aging treatment. This slows the natural aging of the sheet, stabilizes the yield strength at lower values, and dramatically improves the paint bake response, as compared to those conventionally produced.
[0012]
(Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention)
The present invention aims, inter alia, to provide a sheet material having a low T4P yield strength and a high T8 yield strength. Its low T4P yield strength improves formability and allows hemming without deep cracking. Its T8 yield strength indicates good paint bake response, i.e., after painting and baking, the sheet has sufficient strength to resist dents and withstand other impacts. The specific physical properties of the sheet product according to the invention required for this purpose are as follows.
[0013]
The alloy used in the present invention is cast by direct chill casting (DC). The ingot is homogenized at a temperature of 550 ° C. or more for 5 hours or more. The ingot is hot rolled at an exit temperature of about 300-380 ° C. to an exit thickness of about 2.5-6 mm required for the next rolling. Cold rolling is performed to a thickness of about 1 mm, and solution treatment is generally performed at a temperature of 530-570 ° C.
[0014]
When the processing step includes an intermediate annealing step, the re-rolled sheet is cold rolled to a medium thickness of about 2.0-3.0 mm. This medium sheet is batch annealed at a temperature of about 345-410 ° C. and then cold rolled to a further thickness of about 1.0 mm.
[0015]
An alloy containing 0.6% Mg, 0.8% Si, 0.25% Fe, and 0.20% Mn, with or without 0.25% Cu, was 95 mm x 228 mm Cast into an ingot and experiment. The surface of the ingot was shaved, homogenized at 560 ° C. for 6 hours, hot rolled to a thickness of 3.5 mm, cold rolled to a thickness of 2.1 mm in a single pass, and batch annealed at 360 ° C. for 1 hour. And cold-rolled to a thickness of 0.93 mm. This sheet material is subjected to a solution treatment at 560 ° C. for 5 minutes.
[0016]
The solution-treated sheet material is pre-aged by cooling from different pre-aging temperatures (105 ° C, 125 ° C, 150 ° C and 175 ° C). Various cooling rates ranging from 1.25 ° C / hr to 600 ° C / hr are used. YS (yield strength), UTS (tensile strength), El (total elongation), n (tensile hardening rate) and bending properties (r / t) were measured. This r / t ratio is determined from three specimens according to the ASTME290C standard wrap bending test method. The minimum value of r / t is obtained by dividing by the sheet thickness, and is obtained by the minimum radius of the main shaft when bending can be performed without cracks. The radius of the main shaft used in the measurement is 0.057 mm, 0.076 mm, 0.102 mm, 0.152 mm, 0.203 mm, 0.254 mm, 0.305 mm, 0.406 mm, 0.508 mm, 0.610 mm, 0 0.711 mm, 0.813 mm, 1.02 mm, 1.22 mm, 1.42 mm and the like.
[0017]
Measurements were made on the two and four week naturally aged T4P tempers. The letter "P" means that the sheet material has been preaged. T8 shows the yield strength after simulated coating and baking at 177 ° C. for 30 minutes in a state of 2% tension.
[0018]
Tables 1 and 2 show the mechanical properties of sheets formed from alloys containing 0.6% Mg, 0.8% Si, 0.25% Fe and 0.20% Mn, balance Al and accompanying impurities. Is shown. From Table 1 (two weeks of natural aging), many combinations of pre-aging temperatures between 105-175 ° C and cooling rates of 20-600 ° C combine low T4P yield strength with high T8 yield strength. can get. In particular, by cooling from 125 ° C. at a cooling rate of 20 ° C./hour, and from 150 ° C. at a cooling rate of 60 ° C./hour, and further cooling from 175 ° C. to 600 ° C./hour. Cooling at a rate gives good results. The results without pre-aging are shown in Tables 1 and 2. The properties of T8 are dramatically reduced as compared to those pre-aged.
[0019]
Table 2 is similar to Table 1 except that the samples are naturally aged for 4 weeks. The results are not very different from those of Table 1. The stability over time is a particularly desirable feature.
[0020]
FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show the effect of cooling at different cooling rates from different cooling temperatures on yield strength and bending properties. FIG. 1 shows that cooling from a high temperature at a low cooling rate increases the yield strength in the tempering process of T4P and T8 due to artificial aging, which adversely affects the bending properties. I have. As shown in Table 1, starting at a higher cooling temperature and at a faster cooling rate results in better matched properties.
[0021]
[Table 1]
[0022]
[Table 2]
[0023]
Tables 3 and 4 summarize the average elongation properties of the alloys after two and four weeks of natural aging and containing 0.25% Cu. The tendency obtained from this alloy is almost the same as that of the alloy containing no Cu. In general, the artificial aging response of the alloy is better, which results in a higher yield strength, especially when cooled from high temperatures. In addition, after baking for two weeks, the coating baking response cooled at 125 ° C. to 20 ° C./hour and bending characteristics are excellent. On the other hand, those after four weeks of natural aging deteriorate slightly.

The pre-aged sheet material according to the present invention may be coiled for future use. It is also possible to move the alloy sheet directly from the solution treatment to the cleaning tank. In this washing tank, pre-aging is performed by rapidly cooling.
[0026]
Starting from the pre-aging temperature, the sheet is naturally cooled at a cooling rate of 1 to 1.5 ° C./hour in the air first, and then rapidly cooled by the pre-aging method described above, thereby pre-aging the sheet. It is also possible to do.
