Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus and an ink suction method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Inkjet recording heads can be used to aspirate ink from the nozzles by bringing the cap into close contact with the nozzle surface of the inkjet recording head when the ejection characteristics of the ink droplets ejected from the nozzles deteriorate or non-ejections occur. An ink suction operation for recovering the ejection characteristics is performed.

When the ink
[0008]
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problem. In a suction operation of depressurizing a closed cap space formed between a nozzle surface and a cap and sucking ink from a nozzle, an ink jet is provided on a cap side. An object of the present invention is to provide an ink jet recording apparatus and an ink suction method that prevent a recording head from bending.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The inkjet recording apparatus according to
[0010]
In the ink jet recording apparatus according to the first aspect, the cap is brought into close contact with the nozzle surface, the pressure in the cap space formed between the nozzle surface and the cap is reduced by the suction means, and the ink is sucked from the nozzle, and at the same time, the head case is sealed. The space is also decompressed by the decompression means while adjusting to, for example, substantially the same pressure as the cap space.
[0011]
As described above, when ink is being suctioned by the suction means, the pressure in the cap space and the pressure in the closed space are simultaneously reduced to substantially the same pressure, so that there is no pressure difference between the cap space and the closed space.
[0012]
Therefore, the ink-jet recording head does not bend toward the cap during suction of the ink and is not damaged.
[0013]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the configuration of the first aspect, the suction unit and the decompression unit have the same driving unit.
[0014]
According to the ink jet recording apparatus of the second aspect, the same operation as that of the first aspect is obtained, but since the suction means and the pressure reducing means have the same driving means, for example, the cap space and the closed space are substantially the same. There is no need to reduce the pressure while adjusting to atmospheric pressure.
[0015]
Therefore, the cap space and the closed space can be simultaneously reduced to substantially the same pressure by a low-cost and simple configuration.
[0016]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the configuration of the second aspect, the suction unit or the decompression unit includes a separation unit that separates ink and air.
[0017]
According to the ink jet recording apparatus of the third aspect, the same operation as that of the second aspect is achieved, but the suction means or the decompression means has a separation means for separating the ink and the air, so that the ink is sucked. Thereafter, when the cap space and the sealed space formed between the nozzle surface and the cap return to the atmospheric pressure, ink does not enter the sealed space.
[0018]
That is, after suction of ink, by introducing outside air from a gap between the nozzle surface and the cap, the cap space and the sealed space return to the atmospheric pressure. At this time, the cap, the suction means, the driving means, etc. The ink flows into the decompression means together with the outside air, and reaches the closed space. For this reason, ink adheres to the side opposite to the nozzle surface of the ink jet recording head.
[0019]
However, since the suction means or the decompression means has the separation means for separating the ink and the air, only the air is introduced first from the separation means, and the ink does not flow.
[0020]
Therefore, the ink does not enter the closed space together with the outside air. For this reason, there is no possibility that ink adheres to, for example, an electrical contact or the like of the wiring substrate on the side surface opposite to the nozzle surface of the ink jet recording head, thereby causing a problem.
[0021]
5. The ink suction method according to claim 4, wherein the cap is in close contact with a nozzle surface of the ink jet recording head that discharges ink droplets from the nozzle, where the nozzle is formed, and the ink is suctioned from the nozzle. A step of bringing the cap into close contact with the nozzle surface, a sealed cap space formed by the cap in close contact with the nozzle surface, and a sealed space including a side of the inkjet recording head opposite to the nozzle surface. And reducing the pressure to approximately the same pressure and sucking ink from the nozzles.
[0022]
According to the ink suction method of the present invention, since the pressure in the cap space and the closed space is reduced to substantially the same pressure and the ink is sucked from the nozzles, no pressure difference occurs between the cap space and the closed space.
[0023]
Therefore, the ink-jet recording head does not bend toward the cap during suction of the ink and is not damaged.
