Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a nozzle that discharges droplets, a pressure chamber that communicates with the nozzle and is filled with a liquid, a vibration plate that forms part of the pressure chamber, and a liquid that is supplied to the pressure chamber via a liquid flow path. The present invention relates to a droplet discharge head having a liquid pool chamber for pooling a liquid crystal and a piezoelectric element for displacing a diaphragm, and a droplet discharge head manufacturing method for manufacturing the droplet discharge head.
Conventionally, recording paper that is ejected selectively from a plurality of nozzles of an ink jet recording head that reciprocates in the main scanning direction (hereinafter sometimes simply referred to as “recording head”) and is conveyed in the
In such an ink jet recording apparatus, the recording head includes a piezoelectric method and a thermal method. For example, in the case of the piezoelectric method, as shown in FIGS. 32 and 33, a piezoelectric element (an actuator that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy) is supplied to a
In recent years, the inkjet recording head having such a configuration is required to be capable of high-resolution printing while being low-cost and small. In order to meet this requirement, it is necessary to arrange the nozzles with high density. However, in the current recording head, as shown in the drawing, the ink is adjacent to the nozzle 408 (between the
Further, the ink jet recording head is provided with a driving IC for applying a voltage to a predetermined piezoelectric element. Conventionally, as shown in FIG. That is, the
In addition, there is a method in which an electrode terminal provided on the outer surface of the recording head is connected to an electrode terminal on a mounting substrate on which a driving IC is mounted by a wire bonding method (for example, see Patent Document 1). Further, there is a method in which a driving IC is joined and connected to an electrode terminal provided on the external surface of the recording head, and then an FPC is joined and connected to an electrode terminal of a lead wiring provided in the recording head (for example, , See Patent Document 2).
In consideration of the above-mentioned facts, the present invention has a liquid flow path that is configured with higher accuracy while realizing high resolution by enabling high density nozzle formation and formation of fine pitch wiring associated therewith. It is an object to obtain a droplet discharge head and a droplet discharge head manufacturing method for manufacturing the droplet discharge head.
The method of manufacturing a droplet discharge head according to
It is equipped with.
In the present invention, in the sacrificial layer forming step, the sacrificial layer is laminated on the side of the diaphragm where the piezoelectric elements are formed. The sacrificial layer is laminated so as to be thicker than the piezoelectric element, and is laminated so that a partition member arrangement space is formed at a position where the partition member is arranged. The partition member arrangement space is configured by arranging a sacrificial layer around the partition member arrangement space without arranging the sacrifice layer in the partition member arrangement space. Since the sacrificial layer is a layer constituting a portion to be removed in a later sacrificial layer removing step, the portion where the sacrificial layer is finally arranged becomes a cavity. Therefore, the sacrificial layer can be used to form a space for disposing other members without filling a portion that configures the space later and not disposing the other member.
In the stacking step, the partition member is disposed in the partition member arrangement space on the diaphragm, and the top plate member is stacked on at least one of the partition member and the sacrificial layer. A liquid pool chamber for pooling liquid to be supplied to the pressure chamber is formed on the top plate member.
Then, in the joining step, the diaphragm and the top plate member are joined by pressure bonding, and the sacrificial layer is removed in the sacrificial layer removing step.
According to the present invention, since the sacrificial layer is formed and the top plate member is laminated thereon, the space can be easily formed as compared with the case without the sacrificial layer.
Moreover, since the partition member arrangement space can be configured by the sacrificial layer, the partition member can be arranged on the diaphragm with high accuracy.
In addition, since the diaphragm and the top plate member are pressurized with the sacrificial layer present, the liquid flow path constituted by the diaphragm and the partition member at the time of pressurization is compared with the case of applying pressure only with the partition member. Such deformation can be suppressed. Thereby, especially regarding a liquid flow path, the variation in aperture can be suppressed.
The droplet discharge head manufacturing method according to
As described above, by partitioning the partition layer on the sacrificial layer, the partition member is formed in the partition member arrangement space, and the partition wall is also provided between the piezoelectric element and the top plate member in other necessary portions. Layers can be placed.
The method of manufacturing a droplet discharge head according to
As described above, the partition member can be formed on the top plate member first.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the sacrificial layer forming step, the sacrificial layer is disposed on at least the piezoelectric element.
Since a space for allowing displacement of the piezoelectric element is required above the piezoelectric element, this space can be easily configured by forming a sacrificial layer.
The droplet discharge head manufacturing method according to
By forming the sacrificial layer, the liquid channel can be configured in the same shape as the sacrificial layer, so that the diameter of the liquid channel can be configured with higher accuracy.
The droplet discharge head manufacturing method according to claim 6, wherein the top plate member includes a wiring pattern connected to a driving unit for driving the piezoelectric element, and the piezoelectric element and a terminal of the wiring pattern. A bump connecting space in which the bump is disposed on the piezoelectric element is formed by the sacrificial layer in the sacrificial layer forming step, and the bump is formed by the pressure-bonding process in the joining step. It is electrically connected to the piezoelectric element.
According to the above, since the bump connection space is formed by the sacrificial layer, when the bump is electrically connected to the piezoelectric element, the flow of the bump due to heating is prevented, and the bump element can be satisfactorily connected to the piezoelectric element.
A droplet discharge head according to claim 7 is a flow path substrate on which a nozzle for discharging droplets, a pressure chamber in communication with the nozzle and filled with a liquid is formed, and a part of the pressure chamber And a piezoelectric element substrate including a piezoelectric element that displaces the diaphragm, and the pressure chamber is disposed on the opposite side of the pressure chamber with the piezoelectric element substrate interposed therebetween. A liquid pool chamber for pooling liquid to be supplied to the piezoelectric element substrate and the liquid pool chamber so as to be spaced apart from the piezoelectric element substrate and from the liquid pool chamber to the pressure chamber A top plate member provided with a through-hole for supplying a liquid; and a first plate member disposed between the piezoelectric element substrate and the top plate member and connected to the through-hole to be directed toward the piezoelectric element substrate. One flow path, and the pressure communicated with the first flow path In a second flow path which is formed in the direction along the element substrate, is configured to include a, a partition wall member constituting a liquid flow path for supplying liquid to said pressure chamber from said liquid pool chamber.
In the droplet discharge head configured as described above, the liquid pool chamber is configured on the side opposite to the pressure chamber with the piezoelectric element substrate interposed therebetween, and liquid is supplied to the pressure chamber via the liquid flow path. The liquid flow path is configured by a partition wall member, communicated with the through hole of the top plate member and formed in a direction toward the piezoelectric element substrate, and communicated with the first flow path along the piezoelectric element substrate. And a second flow path formed in the opposite direction.
Since the second flow path is formed in a direction along the piezoelectric element substrate, a flow path having a desired diameter and length can be obtained by stacking members having a shape obtained by cutting the shape of the second flow path. It can be formed easily.
The droplet discharge head according to
In this way, by configuring the second flow path on the piezoelectric element substrate, by laminating a member having a shape obtained by cutting the shape of the second flow path on the piezoelectric element substrate, a desired aperture and length can be obtained. The flow path can be easily formed.
The droplet discharge head according to
By forming the liquid channel for each nozzle, it is possible to supply the droplets satisfactorily.
The droplet discharge head according to
In this way, by making the liquid flow paths communicate with each other, clogging of the liquid flow paths due to dust, foreign matter, bubbles, or the like can be suppressed.
The droplet discharge head according to an eleventh aspect of the invention further includes a filter that is provided in the liquid flow path and prevents passage of an object having a predetermined diameter or more.
Thus, by providing the filter, it is possible to prevent dust, foreign matter, bubbles, and the like from passing to the pressure chamber side.
A droplet discharge head according to a twelfth aspect of the present invention is characterized in that the filter is provided on the side of the second passage close to the through hole.
Thus, by providing the filter on the side close to the through hole of the second passage, it is possible to prevent passage of dust, foreign matter, bubbles, etc. on the side close to the liquid pool chamber, It is also possible to suppress clogging with foreign matters and bubbles.
The droplet discharge head according to claim 13 is characterized in that the filter is made of the same material as the partition member.
Thus, a filter and a partition member can be manufactured by the same process by comprising a filter with the same material as a partition member.
A method for manufacturing a droplet discharge head according to
In the droplet discharge head manufacturing method according to the fourteenth aspect, in the sacrificial layer forming step, the sacrificial layer is laminated on the side of the diaphragm where the piezoelectric element is formed. The sacrificial layer is laminated so as to be thicker than the piezoelectric element, and is laminated so that a partition member arrangement space is formed at a position where the partition member is arranged. The sacrificial layer is stacked so as to be disposed in the liquid flow path configuration space in which the liquid flow path is configured.
The partition member arrangement space is configured by disposing a sacrificial layer around the partition member arrangement space without arranging the sacrifice layer in the partition member arrangement space.
In the partition layer forming step, the partition layer constituting the partition member is laminated on the diaphragm. In the top plate member stacking step, the top plate member is stacked on the partition layer. A liquid pool chamber for pooling liquid to be supplied to the pressure chamber is formed on the top plate member.
Then, in the joining step, the diaphragm and the top plate member are joined by pressure bonding, and the sacrificial layer is removed in the sacrificial layer removing step.
According to the above-described method for manufacturing a droplet discharge head, a sacrificial layer is formed in the liquid channel configuration space, and the sacrificial layer is removed after the joining step to configure the liquid channel. Therefore, the liquid channel is easily formed. be able to.
The method for manufacturing a droplet discharge head according to claim 15 is the method for manufacturing a droplet discharge head according to any one of claims 11 to 13, wherein the sacrifice is performed in the sacrifice layer forming step. The layers are stacked so as to constitute a filter arrangement space in which the filter is arranged.
The filter arrangement space is configured by arranging a sacrificial layer around the filter arrangement space without arranging the sacrifice layer in the filter arrangement space.
In this way, the filter can be easily formed in the liquid flow path using the sacrificial layer.
Since the present invention has the above-described configuration, it is possible to increase the resolution of the nozzle by increasing the density of the nozzles and forming the fine pitch wiring associated therewith, and to configure the liquid flow path with higher accuracy.

A
The
As described above, the
A
A
The
The
Further, the
As described above, the
The
As shown in FIG. 5, a plurality of
Accordingly, a signal from the driving
Next, the manufacturing process of the ink
As shown in FIG. 6, the ink
First, a method for manufacturing the
In the manufacture of the
Then, as shown in FIG. 7B, an adhesive 78 is applied to the upper surface (front surface) of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 7D, the
Next, as shown in FIG. 7-1 (E), a PZT film, which is a material of the
Specifically, PZT film sputtering (

Specifically, a low water-permeable insulating film (SiOx film) 80 having a high dangling bond density is deposited by a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method, resist formation by photolithography, patterning (HF etching), oxygen plasma Strip resist. Although the SiOx film is used here as the low water permeable insulating film, it may be a SiNx film, a SiOxNy film, or the like.
Next, as shown in FIG. 7-2 (H), a
Next, as shown in FIG. 7-2 (I), the
The
Next, with reference to FIG. 8, the manufacturing method of the
In manufacturing the
Then, as shown in FIG. 8-1 (C), a resin protective layer 92 (for example, photosensitive polyimide Durimide 7320 manufactured by Fuji Film Arch Co., Ltd.) is laminated and patterned on the surface on which the
Then, as shown in FIG. 8D, bumps 64 are formed on the
Further, as shown in FIG. 8E, the
Then, as shown in FIG. 8-2 (F), the periphery of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 8-2 (G), a resist is patterned by a photolithography method on the surface of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 8-2 (H), the

At this time, the resin
In the joining, the
As described above, the pressure applied in the state where the
Further, since the bump connection space R2 is configured by the
Next, as shown in FIG. 9B, a solution for dissolving the
The solution injection port M also functions as a vent hole that may be generated during the above-described thermocompression bonding process.
Next, as shown in FIG. 9A, a
Next, as shown in FIG. 9-2 (D), the adhesive stripping solution is injected from the through-
Next, a method for manufacturing the
Then, as shown in FIG. 10B, the adhesive 104 is applied to the upper surface (front surface) of the
Thus, when the
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 11-2 (C), the surface from which the
Then, as shown in FIG. 11-3 (E), a
Next, the operation of the
On the other hand, in the ink
A part of the image based on the image data is recorded on the recording paper P by selectively ejecting ink droplets from the plurality of
Thus, when the image based on the image data is completely recorded on the recording paper P, the recording paper P is discharged onto the
Here, in the ink
The
That is, with a practical wiring resistance value, the
Specifically, with the conventional FPC system electrical connection, the nozzle resolution is limited to 600 npi (nozzle per pitch), but with the system of the present invention, it is possible to easily arrange 1200 npi. In addition, the size can be reduced to 1/2 or less because the FPC is not used when the 600 npi nozzle arrangement is compared as an example.
Further, since the periphery of the
The
Moreover, since the
In the present embodiment, since the
Further, by arranging the arrangement positions of the
Next, an ink jet recording head according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described. In the ink jet recording head of this embodiment, the same components, members and the like as those of the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof is omitted.
FIG. 12 shows an inkjet recording head 132 according to the second embodiment of the present invention. In the inkjet recording head 132 of the second embodiment, a

Next, the manufacturing process of the ink jet recording head 132 configured as described above will be described with reference to FIGS.
First, a method for manufacturing the

The

In the joining, the
As described above, the
Further, since the bump connection space R2 is configured by the
Next, as shown in FIG. 15B, a solution for dissolving the
The solution injection port M also functions as a vent hole that may be generated during the above-described thermocompression bonding process.
Next, as shown in FIG. 15-1 (C), a
Next, as shown in FIG. 15-2 (D), an adhesive stripping solution is injected from the through-

Next, an ink jet recording head according to a third embodiment of the present invention will be described. In the ink jet recording head of the present embodiment, the same components, members and the like as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof is omitted.

Next, the manufacturing process of the ink jet recording head 132 configured as described above will be described with reference to FIGS.

As shown in FIG. 18C, a

Next, as shown in FIG. 19B, the solder balls are dropped from the upper part of the through
Next, as shown in FIG. 19C, a

Next, as shown in FIG. 19-2 (F), an adhesive stripping solution is injected from the through-

Then, as shown in FIG. 20-3 (E), a

Next, a fourth embodiment will be described. Also in the fourth embodiment, the same parts as those in the first to third embodiments are denoted by the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof is omitted.
As shown in FIG. 21, in the ink
As shown in FIG. 23B and FIG. 22B-4, the

As shown in FIGS. 24, 25, and 26 (A), the
Next, as shown in FIGS. 24, 25, and 26 (B), the
Next, as shown in FIGS. 24, 25, and 26 (C), the

In the above, the example in which the
In the present embodiment, an example in which the cross-sectional shapes of the
In addition, as shown in FIG. 28A, the
Further, in this embodiment, one
Further, as shown in FIG. 30, the
