【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a light source unit using a light guide, a lighting device, and a liquid crystal display device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A lighting device such as a front light or a backlight used for a liquid crystal display device or the like basically includes a light guide plate and a light source unit disposed on a side end surface thereof, and emits light emitted from the light source unit to a side of the light guide plate. Light from an end surface (incident surface) is introduced, and light with uniform illuminance is emitted from the entire exit surface, thereby illuminating an illuminated object such as a liquid crystal panel.
[0003]
A light source unit that supplies light to a light guide plate that constitutes such a lighting device emits light from a point light source such as an LED in order to make uniform light without unevenness incident on the entire side end surface (incident surface) of the light guide plate. It has a square rod-shaped light guide material called a bar light guide that spreads to the same width as the side end surface (incidence surface) of the light guide plate with uniform illuminance. (For example, refer to Patent Document 1).
[0004]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-2002-324424
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The bar light guide used in the conventional light source unit as described above forms a groove having a V-shaped cross section on a surface opposite to an emission surface facing a side end surface (incident surface) of the light guide plate, and this groove is formed. The light propagated from the light source is reflected in the direction of the emission surface on the reflection surface on which the light is formed, and the light is irradiated toward the light guide plate. Then, a metal film such as Al or Ag is formed in the groove constituting the reflection surface for the purpose of increasing the reflection efficiency.
[0006]
However, in such a bar light guide in which a reflective film made of metal or the like is formed in such a V-shaped groove, the reflectance on the reflective surface is only about 90%, and the light from the light source is increased due to an increase in the number of reflections. There was a problem that attenuation was large. Therefore, it is desired to further increase the illuminance of the light source unit by further improving the reflectance of the bar light guide and efficiently using the light from the light source.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and has as its object to provide a light source unit in which the illuminance of light emitted from an emission surface is improved by efficiently using light from a light source. And
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, according to the present invention, there is provided a light source, and a bar light guide for introducing light from the light source into the inside from a side incident surface and emitting the light with uniform illuminance from an exit surface. A light source unit that is disposed adjacent to the light exit surface and supplies light toward a light guide plate that illuminates the illumination target; and the light exit surface of the bar light guide has an internal surface inside the bar light guide. A light source unit is provided, wherein a prism shape for reflecting and emitting the propagating light is formed.
[0009]
According to such a light source unit, the light introduced into the bar light guide and propagated can be emitted without loss by almost 100% total reflection. This greatly contributes to the improvement of the illuminance of light emitted from the emission surface.
[0010]
It is preferable that the prism shape is constituted by a plurality of ridges formed on the emission surface, and a slope portion is formed on a side of the ridges in a traveling direction of the propagation light. Further, it is preferable that an angle formed between a traveling direction of the propagating light incident on the slope portion and a traveling direction of the reflected light of the propagating light is an obtuse angle. According to such a light source unit, the amount of light reflected on the slope portion increases, and the amount of light emitted from the emission surface can be increased.
[0011]
The protrusion may be formed so that the inclination angle of the slope portion increases as the distance from the light source increases, and the protrusion may increase in size as the distance from the light source increases. According to such a light source unit, the illuminance of the light emitted from the emission surface can be made uniform over the entire width of the emission surface, and luminance unevenness can be eliminated.
[0012]
An inner surface of the slope portion may be formed so as to face an outer surface side of the emission surface, and the ridge may have a substantially trapezoidal shape in a cross section having a flat portion formed on a top portion thereof. Further, the ridge may be formed in a wedge shape in cross section. According to such a light source unit, a structure is provided in which light does not easily leak from a surface other than the slope portion, and the use efficiency of the light source can be increased, and the luminance of illumination light can be improved. It is preferable that the inclination angle of such a slope portion be set to 40 ° or more and 60 ° or less.
[0013]
If the above-described light source unit is applied to a lighting device including a light guide plate that propagates light emitted from the light source unit and irradiates the object to be illuminated, it greatly contributes to improvement in illuminance of light emitted from the lighting device. . In addition, if this lighting device is applied to a liquid crystal display device, the unevenness of illumination of the liquid crystal panel is reduced, which contributes to the realization of a liquid crystal display device with excellent visibility and capable of clear display.

【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, according to the light source unit of the present invention, light that is introduced into the bar light guide and propagated can be emitted without loss with a reflectance of almost 100%. This greatly contributes to the improvement of the illuminance of light emitted from the emission surface. The prism shape is constituted by a plurality of ridges formed on the emission surface, and a slope is formed on the side of the ridge on which the propagation light travels, or the propagation direction of the propagation light incident on the slope. If the angle between the propagating light and the traveling direction of the reflected light is formed to be an obtuse angle, the amount of light reflected on the slope portion increases, and the amount of light emitted from the exit surface can be increased.
[0071]
If the inclination angle of the slope portion is increased as the distance from the light source increases, or if the size of the protrusion is increased as the distance from the light source increases, the light emitted from the emission surface is reduced. , The illuminance can be made uniform over the entire width, and the luminance unevenness can be eliminated.
[0072]
Further, the inner surface of the slope portion may be formed so as to face the outer surface side of the emission surface, the trapezoid may have a substantially trapezoidal cross section in which a flat portion is formed on the top of the projection, or the projection may have a cross section. If it is formed in a wedge shape, the structure is such that light hardly leaks out of the surface other than the inclined surface portion, and the use efficiency of the light source can be increased and the luminance of the illumination light can be improved. It is preferable that the inclination angle of such a slope portion be set to 40 ° or more and 60 ° or less.
[0073]
If the above-described light source unit is applied to a lighting device including a light guide plate that propagates light emitted from the light source unit and irradiates the object to be illuminated, it greatly contributes to improvement in illuminance of light emitted from the lighting device. . Further, if this illumination device is applied to a simple matrix type or active matrix type liquid crystal display device, it reduces uneven illumination of the liquid crystal panel and contributes to the realization of a liquid crystal display device with excellent visibility and capable of clear display. .
