TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a switching power supply control device and a switching power supply.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Switching power supply devices have features such as small size, light weight, and high efficiency, and are widely used as power sources for microcomputers and personal computers incorporated in various devices. In these personal computers and the like, low voltage and high speed processing are progressing, and current consumption is increasing. For this reason, in the switching power supply device, the load current increases or decreases rapidly depending on the processing load on the personal computer or the like. Further, the switching power supply device has a feature that it can easily cope with a wide input voltage range, and is also used as a power supply that can be used in several countries in the world and a power supply with wide input voltage specification settings. In a switching power supply, it is necessary to compensate a stable output voltage against such a change in load current or input voltage so that a target voltage corresponding to a load of a personal computer or the like is obtained. Further, even when the output voltage has a transient response to a sudden change in the load current or the input voltage, the switching power supply device is required to quickly recover to a stable state.
[0003]
For this purpose, the switching power supply device includes a control device such as a digital control type controller IC [Integrated Circuit], and the control device turns on / off a switching element such as a FET [Field Effect Transistor] at high speed. The control device generates a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal for turning on / off the switching element based on the output voltage of the switching power supply device or the like by feedback control based on voltage mode control or current mode control.
[0004]
For example, in the case of current mode control by P [proportional] control (proportional control), the control device compares a target current signal with a current signal obtained by detecting a current flowing through the inductance of the smoothing circuit, and determines that the inductance current signal is the target current signal. A PWM signal is generated in which a period until reaching the signal is a high signal and a period after reaching the signal is a low signal. The target current signal is a signal obtained by subtracting the output voltage detected by the switching power supply from the target voltage, and multiplying the subtracted value by the gain of the P control.
[0005]
In the case of the digital control system, the output voltage and the inductance current must be input to the control device after A / D conversion. Since the inductance current increases or decreases according to the high-speed on / off of the switching element, the A / D conversion causes a delay due to the conversion. Therefore, when performing the comparison processing in the control device, an inductance current including a time delay due to the A / D conversion is used, and a PWM signal corresponding to the current actually flowing through the inductance cannot be generated. Therefore, there is a control device that estimates an inductance current based on a PWM signal generated inside the device and performs current mode control using the estimated current (see Patent Document 1).

[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the case of the estimated current, the DC component is large as compared with the actual inductance current, so that a highly accurate PWM signal cannot be generated. Therefore, in the conventional control device, the current flowing through the inductance is detected, and the estimated current is corrected by the detected inductance current. Therefore, the conventional control device requires a means for detecting the current of the inductance whether the current mode control is performed using the actual inductance current or the current mode control is performed using the estimated current. Become. However, in spite of the desire to reduce the size and weight of the switching power supply device, when performing the current mode control, a current detection unit is required as compared with the voltage mode control, and the device becomes larger.
[0008]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a control device for a switching power supply device and a switching power supply device capable of performing current mode control without a means for detecting an inductance current.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A control device for a switching power supply according to the present invention includes a control signal setting unit that sets a control signal based on an output voltage and a target voltage in a digitally converted switching power supply, and a switching element of the switching power supply. Estimating the current flowing through the inductance of the smoothing circuit of the switching power supply device based on the driving signal of the switching power supply device, and extracting a DC component included in the estimated current signal estimated by the current estimation unit that generates the estimated current signal, and DC component removing means for removing a DC component from the estimated current signal, DC component resetting means for resetting the DC component extracted by the DC component removing means at predetermined time intervals, control signal and DC component removing set by the control signal setting means Means for removing the DC component and comparing the estimated current signal with the estimated current signal from which the DC component has been removed. Signal characterized in that it comprises a comparing means for detecting whether or not reaching the control signal.
[0010]
The control device for a switching power supply receives an A / D-converted output voltage of the switching power supply in order to control the output voltage to a target voltage by feedback control by current mode control, and outputs the output voltage by a control signal setting means. A control signal is generated from the voltage and the target voltage. In the control device, the drive signal is fed back to the current estimating means, and the current estimating means estimates an inductance current in the switching power supply device based on the drive signal to generate an estimated current signal. Further, in the control device, the DC component is extracted from the estimated current signal by the DC component removing means, and the DC component is removed from the estimated current signal. At this time, the control device resets the DC component extracted by the DC component reset means every predetermined time. Then, the control device inputs the estimated current signal and the control signal after removing the DC component to the comparing means, compares the estimated current signal after removing the DC component and the control signal by the comparing means, and performs the estimation after removing the DC component. It is determined whether the current signal reaches the control signal. Then, the control device generates a drive signal as a signal for turning on the switching element during a period in which the estimated current signal after the removal of the DC component does not reach the control signal, and as a signal for turning off the switching element during the period after reaching the control signal. As described above, in this control device, the estimated current signal is generated based on the drive signal generated in the device, and the current mode control is performed using the estimated current signal. Does not occur. Furthermore, the control device extracts the DC component from the estimated current signal and uses the estimated current signal from which the DC component has been removed, so that the difference in the DC component from the actual inductance current can be reduced. In particular, in the control device, the DC component to be extracted is reset every predetermined time, so that the DC component accumulated in the DC component removing means can be reset. Therefore, the control device is capable of performing the current mode control by estimating the inductance current and generating a high-precision drive signal with high accuracy of the estimated current, even though the control device is not provided with the means for detecting the inductance current. can do. Incidentally, when the accumulated DC component is not reset, the estimated current signal becomes infinitely large, and the control becomes impossible.
[0011]
Note that the drive signal is a signal for turning on / off the switching element of the switching power supply device, and is, for example, a PWM signal. The control signal is a signal for performing feedback control by current mode control, and is a signal based on the output voltage and the target voltage actually detected in the switching power supply device, and is input to the comparing means and estimated after removal of the DC component. This is a signal to be compared with the current signal. The estimated current signal is a signal for performing feedback control by current mode control, and is a signal obtained by estimating the inductance current of the switching power supply device based on the drive signal. The predetermined time is a time indicating a time interval for resetting the DC component extracted by the DC component removing means, and is set in consideration of a capacitor capacity on the output side of the switching power supply device, a zero-cross frequency in the control device, and the like.
[0012]
The control device for a switching power supply device according to the present invention, wherein the DC component removing means subtracts the DC component extracted by the low-pass filter from the estimated current signal generated by the current estimation means and the low-pass filter for extracting the DC component from the estimated current signal. And a subtractor that performs the subtraction.
[0013]
This switching power supply control device includes a digital low-pass filter and a subtractor as a specific configuration of the DC component removing means. In the control device, a DC component is extracted from the estimated current signal by a low-pass filter, and the DC component extracted from the estimated current signal is subtracted by a subtracter.
[0014]
The control device for a switching power supply of the present invention may be configured such that the DC component reset means inputs a reset signal to the low-pass filter and resets the output of the delay device of the low-pass filter at predetermined time intervals.
[0015]
The control device for a switching power supply device inputs a reset signal to the low-pass filter and resets the output of the delay unit of the low-pass filter in response to the reset signal, thereby resetting the DC component output from the low-pass filter. As described above, in the control device, when the DC component is extracted by the digital low-pass filter, the DC component can be easily reset simply by inputting the reset signal to the low-pass filter.
[0016]
Note that the reset signal is a signal for resetting the DC component extracted by the low-pass filter, and a signal for resetting at a predetermined time interval is set.
[0017]
In the control device for a switching power supply device according to the present invention, it is preferable that the predetermined time is set to an integral multiple of the period of the drive signal.
[0018]
This switching power supply control device sets the predetermined time for resetting the DC component to an integral multiple of the cycle of the drive signal, thereby simplifying the means for setting the predetermined time by a counter or the like that counts the number of cycles of the drive signal. Can be configured.
[0019]
The control device for a switching power supply device according to the present invention, wherein the current estimating means counts up the on-period of the switching element in the drive signal at regular intervals based on the up-coefficient, and reduces the off-period of the switching element in the drive signal by the down-coefficient. May be configured to include an up-down counter that counts down at regular time intervals based on.
[0020]
The switching power supply control device includes an up / down counter as a specific configuration of the current estimating means. In this control device, the drive signal is fed back to the up-down counter, and the up-down counter counts up the on-period of the switching element in the drive signal at regular intervals such as a master clock of the control device according to an up-coefficient, and the off-period. Is counted down in accordance with a down coefficient at regular time intervals to generate an estimated current signal. Thus, in the control device, the current estimating means can be easily configured by the up / down counter.
[0021]
The up coefficient is a coefficient indicating an increase rate of a current flowing through the inductance of the smoothing circuit of the switching power supply during the ON period of the switching element in the drive signal, and is a parameter for each element of the smoothing circuit and a certain time during counting. It is set based on the like. The down coefficient is a coefficient indicating a reduction ratio of a current flowing through the inductance of the smoothing circuit of the switching power supply device during the off period of the switching element in the drive signal, and is a parameter for each element of the smoothing circuit and a certain time when counting. It is set based on.
[0022]
A switching power supply according to the present invention includes a control device that generates a drive signal for performing switching control of a switching element by digital control, and a switching element that turns on / off based on the drive signal generated by the control device. The device is any of the control devices described above.
[0023]
In this switching power supply device, the control device is configured as the control device described above, and the switching element is turned on / off by a drive signal generated based on an estimated current signal estimated from the drive signal. Then, in this switching power supply device, the input voltage is converted into the output voltage by turning on / off the switching element so that the target voltage is obtained. By being controlled by the control device, in this switching power supply device, the switching element can be turned on / off by feedback control by current mode control without means for detecting an inductance current.

Note that the period in which the reset signal is a low signal corresponds to several periods of the PWM signal PS, and the magnitude of the accumulated DC component DC (and, consequently, the magnitude of the estimated current signal PC ′ after reset). And the magnitude of the control signal CS. That is, the switching of the PWM signal PS from the low signal to the high signal or from the high signal to the low signal is performed after the estimated current signal PC ′ and the control signal CS have the same value. The longer the value of '′ and the value of the control signal CS are, the longer it takes to switch. Therefore, the period during which the reset signal is a low signal (reset period) is determined according to the relationship between the estimated current signal PC ′ after reset and the control signal CS.

Although the timing of resetting the DC component DC is set to 10 periods of the PWM signal PS (that is, the switching period), the number of periods depends on the capacity of the

As described above, the embodiments according to the present invention have been described, but the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, but may be implemented in various forms.
[0074]
For example, in the present embodiment, the control device is configured by a digital circuit (hardware). A program for realizing each of these means may be distributed by a storage medium such as a CD-ROM or by distribution on the Internet, or may be distributed as a control device in a state of being incorporated in a computer.
[0075]
Further, although the present embodiment is applied to the DC / DC converter, the present invention is also applicable to an AC / DC converter and a DC / AC converter. Although the present embodiment is applied to a non-insulated and step-down converter without a transformer, the present invention is also applicable to an isolated converter having a transformer and is applicable to a step-up or step-up / step-down converter. is there.
[0076]
Although the present embodiment is applied to the P control, the present invention can be applied to other controls such as PI control and PID control.
[0077]
Further, in the present embodiment, the means for extracting the DC component is constituted by a primary low-pass filter of IIR type, but may be constituted by another low-pass filter such as a secondary low-pass filter, or may be constituted by another low-pass filter. Other circuits may be used.
[0078]
Further, in the present embodiment, the signal for resetting the DC component is a reset signal consisting of 10 periods of the PWM signal (switching period). However, if the period is sufficiently longer than the period of the master clock, the reset signal of the PWM signal is reset. If the period is not an integral multiple of the period of the PWM signal, the reset signal is set based on the period of the master clock or the like. In the present embodiment, the number of periods of the PWM signal is counted based on the PWM signal, but may be counted using a set signal or the like.
[0079]
Further, in the present embodiment, the A / D converter and the controller IC are configured separately, but the configuration may be such that the A / D converter is included in the controller IC.
