Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fuel cell constituted by sandwiching an electrolyte / electrode structure having a pair of electrodes on both sides of an electrolyte with a metal separator.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, a polymer electrolyte fuel cell has an electrolyte membrane / electrode structure in which an anode electrode and a cathode electrode are respectively provided on both sides of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane composed of a polymer ion exchange membrane (cation exchange membrane). (Electrolyte / electrode structure) is sandwiched between separators to constitute a unit cell.
[0003]
In this unit cell, a fuel gas supplied to the anode side electrode, for example, a gas mainly containing hydrogen (hereinafter also referred to as a hydrogen-containing gas) is ionized with hydrogen on the electrode catalyst, and is supplied to the cathode via the electrolyte membrane. Move to the side electrode side. The electrons generated during that time are taken out to an external circuit and used as DC electric energy. Since an oxidant gas, for example, a gas mainly containing oxygen or air (hereinafter also referred to as an oxygen-containing gas) is supplied to the cathode side electrode, hydrogen ions, electrons, And oxygen react to produce water.
[0004]
By the way, a fuel cell usually forms a stack by stacking tens to hundreds of unit cells. At this time, it is necessary to accurately position each unit cell. For this reason, an operation of inserting a knock pin into a positioning hole formed in the unit cell is performed. However, as the number of stacked unit cells increases, it becomes difficult to insert a knock pin, and the workability is reduced. In addition, there is a problem that the member is likely to be displaced and the sealing function is reduced. .
[0005]
In order to solve the above problem, Patent Document 1 discloses a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 8, the fuel cell 1 includes a unit cell 2 and

[0012]
The present invention has been made to solve this kind of problem, and an object of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell in which the positioning of separators can be easily and efficiently performed with a simple and inexpensive configuration, and which is excellent in assembly workability. I do.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the fuel cell according to claim 1 of the present invention, the first and second seal members are integrally provided on the outer peripheral portions of the first and second metal separators facing each other, and the first and second seals are provided. The member has a fitting portion that fits with each other. The fitting portion has four or more concave portions and four or more convex portions that fit into the four or more concave portions.
[0014]
Then, only by overlapping the first and second metal separators, four or more projections are fitted into four or more recesses, and the first and second metal separators are relatively positioned. This makes it possible to accurately position the first and second metal separators and to greatly reduce the number of parts by a simple and quick operation. In addition, since the concave portion and the convex portion are relatively easily deformed, even if a dimensional error occurs, the convex portion and the concave portion fit well according to each other's shape. Therefore, it is not necessary to set the processing accuracy of the concave portion and the convex portion to be high, which is economical.
[0015]
Moreover, the first and second metal separators are firmly positioned and supported by the four or more concave portions and the four or more convex portions. Therefore, when the first and second metal separators are assembled into the vehicle fuel cell, even if a shear load is applied from a lateral direction intersecting the laminating direction (for example, the traveling direction of the vehicle), the first and second metal separators can reliably displace. Can be blocked. In particular, when a large number of fuel cells are stacked, no displacement occurs between the fuel cells, and it is possible to accurately and efficiently position the large number of fuel cells, and to achieve a desired sealing property. And a stack can be configured.
[0016]
In the fuel cell according to claim 2 of the present invention, the first and second metal separators are provided with a plurality of communication holes for flowing at least a reaction gas or a cooling medium, and are provided between the communication holes adjacent to each other. Is provided with a concave portion or a convex portion. Accordingly, it is possible to reliably hold the space between the communication holes having a relatively small width and low strength, and it is possible to prevent a decrease in the sealing performance between the communication holes.
[0017]
Further, in the fuel cell according to claim 3 of the present invention, the first and second metal separators are provided with three communication holes on both ends, respectively, and the three communication holes are respectively formed on the both ends. , Two concave portions or convex portions are arranged, respectively. Therefore, it is possible to reliably seal each of the three communication holes with a simple configuration.
[0018]
Furthermore, in the fuel cell according to claim 4 of the present invention, the first metal separator is provided with the concave portion and the convex portion of the first seal member in close proximity, and the second metal separator is formed of the second seal member. Are provided close to each other. For this reason, in the first and second metal separators, the respective recesses do not come close to each other, and the first and second seal members are securely and firmly adhered to each other to secure desired sealing properties and strength. be able to.
[0019]
Further, in the fuel cell according to claim 5 of the present invention, since the first and second metal separators expose the separator surface on the bottom surface of the concave portion where the convex portion faces, the depth dimension of the concave portion is secured. The thickness of the first and second seal members is reduced. Therefore, the convex portion and the concave portion are fitted well, and the first and second metal separators can be reliably positioned and held.
[0020]
Further, in the fuel cell according to claim 6 of the present invention, the first and second seal members are integrally provided at least on the outer peripheral portions of the first and second metal separators facing each other, and the first and second seal members are integrally provided. The second seal member has a fitting portion that fits with each other.
[0021]
The fitting portion has at least two or more concave portions and at least two or more convex portions that fit into the two or more concave portions. This makes it possible to accurately position the first and second metal separators and to greatly reduce the number of parts by a simple and quick operation.
