【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、例えば携帯情報機器の表示面、ゲーム機、ポスターのバックライト等に用いられるELシートに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来から知られているELシートの構成は、図5に示すようにポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)フィルムやポリエステルフィルムからなる透明基板11上に、インジウム−錫酸化物(酸化インジウム錫)(ITO)等の透明電極12を形成し、金属またはアルミナ等の金属酸化物の耐湿コーテイングを施した蛍光体を含有する発光層13と絶縁層14および背面電極15を順次積層したものが知られている。(例えば、特許文献1)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、PETフィルムやポリエステルフィルムからなる透明基板上に、デコレーションパターンとして、例えばグラフィックスやポスター図柄等をカラー印刷するには、このようにフィルムに印刷可能な特殊のインクを使用しなければならない。また、均一な面発光特性にも問題があり、デコレーションパターンを形成したとき高品位表示が得られないことがあった。

そこで、本発明の目的は、デコレーションパターンをELシート自体に直接、普通の印刷技術でカラー印刷可能とし、そのため特殊なインクを使用する必要がなく、コストの引下げにも有効であり、さらに、均一な面発光特性が得られ高品位のデコレーション表示が可能であるELシートを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
ELシートは、基材上に透明導電、発光層、絶縁層及び背面電極を順次積層したものであるが、本発明の第1の特徴は、このようなELシートの上記基材を透光性に優れた紙素材で構成したところにある。

さらに、第2の特徴は、上記紙素材である基材にデコレーションパターンが施してあるところにある。
【0008】第3の特徴は、前記紙素材である基材の表面に印刷が可能なコート層が施され、このコート層の上にデコレーションパターンが施してあるところにある。

第4の特徴は前記デコレーションが複数に分割してあり、上記背面電極はこのデコレーションパターンに対応して分割して形成してあるところにある。

また、第5の特徴は、上記デコレーションパターンの上に透明保護層が形成してあるところにある。

さらに、第6の特徴は、上記基材と上記透明電極の間には防湿層が介在しているところにある。

そして、第7の特徴は、上記透明電極は酸化インジウム錫インクにより形成され、このインクの酸化インジウム錫粉末は針状のものであるところにある。

本発明における前記のデコレーションパターンとは、絵柄、文字などを総称したもので、グラフィックスやポスター図柄等のディスプレイパターンを印刷したものである

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、図面を参照して本発明に係るELシートの実施の態様を説明すると、第1の実施の態様は、図1に示すように基材1上に、透明導電2、発光層3、絶縁層4及び背面電極5を順次積層したものであって、この基材は紙素材である。この紙素材の基材1は、光透過率が55〜80%程度の透光性があり、250℃以上の耐熱性及び耐水性に優れたものが望ましく、例えば、耐水耐熱コピー用紙の「Rite in the Rain」(米国J.L.Darling 社の商品名)がある。また、紙素材の基材1は光散乱機能があるため均一な面発光特性を高める。さらに、この紙素材の基材1を製造する時に、予め光拡散効果を高めるパウダーの無機材を分散・含侵しておくと、LCDバックライトとして使用する場合に、透光性とバックライト非点灯時の反射率を向上させることができる。光拡散効果を高めるパウダーとしては、例えばセラミックパウダーなどの無機材、その他雲母に酸化チタンをコートとして10〜60μmの粒径とした酸化チタンコート雲母と、これに必要に応じて加えられる酸化チタンとからなるものがある。

透明電極2は導電性高分子により構成され、この導電性高分子としては、ポリアセチレン系導電性高分子、ポリチオフェン系導電性高分子、ポリピロール系導電性高分子、ポリパラフェニレン系導電性高分子、ポリパラフェニレンビニレン導電性高分子、ポリチエニレンビニレン系導電性高分子、ポリイソチアナフテン系導電性高分子等が用いられる。いずれも、電気抵抗が低く、光透過率が高く、かつアンモニア基に対して安定である。例えば、ポリチオフェン系導電性高分子であるポリエチレンジオキシチオフェンを用い、このポリエチレンジオキシチオフェン/ポリスチレンサルフォネイト水溶液を、紙基材の基板1上にスクリーン印刷で塗布し、乾燥させることによって形成する。

さらに、透明電極2は、酸化インジウム錫インクにより形成され、このインクの酸化インジウム錫粉末は針状結晶をバインダ樹脂に分散させたものをスクリーン印刷し硬化して形成したものである。そのため、透明電極2が屈曲した状態で使用する場合でも、この透明電極の導電状態が阻害されることなく、クラックの発生も防止される。

発光層3は、透明電極2の上面に発光インクをスクリーン印刷することにより形成される。発光インクを構成する蛍光体としては、Cuをドープした硫化亜鉛(ZuS)を用い、この蛍光体に窒化物をコーティングする。発光インクは、窒化物をコーティングした蛍光体と、バインダーとしてフッ化ビニリデンと六フッ化プロピレンの共重合体を溶剤としてのメチルエチルケトンに溶解したフッ素樹脂バインダーを用い、これらを混合して撹拌して発光インクを作る。この発光インクをスクリーン印刷法等の方法によって透明電極2の上面に印刷し、その後加熱して乾燥させて発光層3を形成する。

絶縁層4は、発光層3の上面にスクリーン印刷法などにより形成する。絶縁層4を形成するインクは、チタン酸バリウム(BaTio3)からなる高誘電体物質と、前記のフッ素樹脂バインダーとを混合して撹拌することによって作る。このインクを用いて、前記の発光層3の形成法と同一の方法、例えばスクリーン印刷によりこの絶縁層4を形成する。

背面電極5は、絶縁層4の上面にカーボンインクをスクリーン印刷で印刷し、加熱し乾燥することによって形成する。カーボンインクは、導電性であるカーボン粉をポリエステル樹脂をバインダーとして混合して形成する。なお、背面電極層5は、カーボン粉と銀粉及び銅粉とバインダーであるポリエステルとによって構成したものも使用することができる。

次に、第2の実施態様のELシートについて、図2を参照して説明すると、前記第1の実施の態様における紙素材である基材1にはデコレーションパターン6がカラー印刷手段で施してあり、この印刷はこの従来から知られている印刷インクにより普通の印刷技術で基材1上に印刷したものである。なお、このデコレーションパターンの印刷はELシートを構成する透明導電2、発光層3、絶縁層4及び背面電極5を積層する前に印刷してもよいが、積層した後の方が望ましい。さらに、基材1とデコレーションパターン6の上には、必要により透明保護層(クリアトップコート)7を形成する。

また、第3の実施態様のELシートは、図3に示すように、デコレーションパターン6、6は複数に分割してあり、かつ、背面電極5、5はこのデコレーション6、6に対応して分割して形成してある。そのため、背面電極5はデコレーションパターン6を選択的に照光可能である。

また、第4の実施態様のELシートは、図3に示すように、紙素材の基材1の表面には印刷が可能なコート層8が施されているもので、そのため、このコート層にデコレーションパターン6のため、例えばインクジェットによるカラー印刷が極めて容易に行うことができる。このコート層8は加熱硬化型親水性樹脂によって形成され、この加熱硬化型親水性樹脂としては、加熱硬化型のアクリル樹脂を厚さ100〜150μm程度に印刷した後、約50℃で約20分程度加熱することにより30〜150μm程度の厚みで、インク受容層として形成されたものである。そして、このコート層8はこのインク受容層上にインクジェット式プリンタによって水性インクを用いて印刷したものである。

また、第5の実施態様のELシートは、図3に示すようにコート層8とデコレーションパターン6の上には透明保護層7が形成してある。この実施の態様において、
デコレーションパターン6を施してあるコート層8とその上面の形成してある透明保護層7とにより加飾フィルムを構成し、この加飾フィルムと樹脂成形体10との間にELシート1〜5はインサート成形したもので、そのため、ライティングデコレーション効果を発揮するものである。この樹脂成形体10としては、携帯電話、家電製品、オーディオ、PDA、楽器、車載部品などである。そして、透明電極2と背面電極5との間に電圧を印加すると、このELシートはムラがなくエレガントな面発光が可能となり従来のテザインを一新させることができる。さらに、ELには様々な点灯色があるので、EL非点灯時の外装の色を変化させることができる。さらに、ELシート1〜5はマルチカラー・セグメント発光が可能で、加飾デザインフィルムとの組み合わせによって、様々な点灯・点滅パターンが実現できる。さらに、ELシート1〜5を樹脂成形体10と一体成形することによりELの点灯時に発生する可聴ノイズ・電磁ノイズが大幅に軽減できる。

また、第6の実施態様のELシートは、図4に示すように、基材1と透明電極2の間には耐湿層9が介在してある。紙素材の基材1は湿気を吸収しやすく、ELシートは湿気により性能の低下を起こし易いので、耐湿層9によりこれを防止する。この耐湿層9に使用される耐湿性樹脂としては、アルキド系樹脂、塩化ピニル系樹脂、シリコン系樹脂、ポリイミド系樹脂などがある。勿論、前記の図1〜図3を参照して説明した第1〜第5の実施の態様においても、基材1と透明電極2との間に耐湿層9を介設することが望ましい。なお、図4には、図2、図3のようにデコレーションパターン6や透明保護層7及びコート層8の図示を省略しているが、これらデコレーションパターン、透明保護層及びコート層が形成してある実施の態様も含むものである。

【発明の効果】
本発明によると、基材が紙素材であるため、この基材にデコレーションパターンを直接、特殊なインクを使用せずに普通の印刷技術で施すことが可能であり、さらに、均一な面発光特性が得られ高品位のデコレーション表示が可能である。
