<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve music information through a remote controller without requiring a CPU of a high performance or a nonvolatile memory of a large capacity. <P>SOLUTION: A karaoke system has a karaoke device main body and the remote controller which inputs music selection information to the karaoke device main body. The karaoke device main body is equipped with a memory which stores look-up book function information and when music is retrieved, the remote controller sends a music retrieval condition to the karaoke device main body, which reads music information corresponding to the received music retrieval condition out of look-up book information stored in the memory and sends it back to the remote controller. しかしながら、昨今の通信カラオケの普及により、配信される曲数は非常に多くなってきており、歌本の厚さが厚くなって選曲が煩わしいものとなっている。そこで、リモコン装置自体に新譜データ等の曲情報を保存し、これをリモコン装置の表示部に表示させて検索する方式の電子目次端末が開発されている。この電子目次端末は、曲情報を内蔵したリモコン装置であり、操作が簡単で分厚い歌本も必要なくなる。

上述の目的を達成するために、本発明のカラオケシステムは、カラオケ装置本体と、カラオケ装置本体に選曲情報を入力するリモコン装置とを有してなるカラオケシステムにおいて、前記カラオケ装置本体は、早見本機能情報を保存するメモリを備え、曲検索時には、前記リモコン装置は曲検索条件をカラオケ装置本体に送信し、カラオケ装置本体は受信した曲検索条件に該当する曲情報を前記メモリに保存された早見本情報から読み出しリモコン装置に返送することを特徴とするものである。
