本発明は、液晶ディスプレイ等の表示手段に対して画像を表示することの可能なカメラに関する。

【従来の技術】
デジタルカメラ等のカメラには、撮影した画像を即時表示するために、あるいは、各種撮影情報やデータ、メニュー等を表示するために液晶ディスプレイ等の表示手段を備えるものも多く存在する。この場合、カメラの周囲の状況や配置の状況によっては環境光の影響を受け、表示手段に表示される画像の見やすさが異なったり、色味が異なって見えてしまい、表示画像の視認性が低下するという問題があった。

このため、例えば特許文献1に開示されるように、環境光に応じて画像表示の際の輝度や色合いを制御することが提案されている。特許文献1の技術では、環境光の検出は、撮影用のCCD撮像素子若しくはカメラの表面に別途設けられた専用センサによって行われる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、液晶ディスプレイ等の表示手段は一般にカメラの背面側に設けられることが多く、CCD撮像素子でカメラ前面側に設けられる撮影レンズを介して環境光を検出するように構成すると、カメラ背面側に環境光の光源がある場合には正確に環境光成分を検出することができず、環境光の影響に対して正確な表示画像の調整を行うことが困難であった。

一方、カメラの背面側に環境光を検出するための専用センサを設ければ、背面側からの環境光を良好に検出することが可能になるが、その場合、画像の表示状態を調整するためにセンサを別途設ける必要があり、高コスト化を招き、同時にカメラの大型化を招くことになる。

そこで、本発明は、上記課題に鑑みてなされたものであって、専用センサを設けることなく、表示手段における表示画像を環境光に応じて良好に調整することの可能なカメラを提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために、請求項1に記載の発明は、接眼状態で被写体像を視認可能なファインダと、非接眼状態で画像を視認可能な画像表示手段とを備えたカメラであって、前記ファインダに対する接眼状態を検知するために、所定の光を投光する投光手段と、前記投光手段によって投光される光の反射光成分、及び、環境光成分を検知する受光手段と、前記受光手段が前記環境光成分を受光した場合に、前記環境光成分に基づいて前記画像表示手段の表示状態を制御する制御手段と、を備えて構成される。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の実施の形態について図面を参照しつつ詳細に説明する。

図1は、本発明の実施の形態にかかるデジタルカメラ(カメラ)1を背面側からみた斜視図である。デジタルカメラ1の背面側左方上部には、撮影時等にユーザが接眼状態で被写体像等を視認するためのファインダ部20が設けられており、その下部にはユーザが非接眼状態で画像を視認することの可能な液晶ディスプレイ(以下、単にLCDという。)30が設けられる。

ファインダ部20は、画像を表示するための電子ビューファインダ(以下、単にEVFという。)21と、ユーザの接眼状態を検知するための接眼検知ユニット(アイセンサ)22と、ユーザが接眼状態であるときに環境光がファインダ内に入射することを防ぐための環境光遮蔽フード(アイキャップ)23とを備えて構成される。

一方、デジタルカメラ1の前面側には、被写体像をカメラ内部に設けられたCCD撮像素子11(図2参照)に導くための撮影レンズ10が設けられており、CCD撮像素子11にて光電変換して得られる画像をEVF21及びLCD30において表示することが可能なように構成されている。

また、デジタルカメラ1の背面側右方には、デジタルカメラ1に対してユーザが各種設定操作等を行うための操作部材40が複数箇所に設けられている。さらに、デジタルカメラ1の側面には、メモリカード等の記録媒体51を装着するためのスロットが設けられており、そのスロットが蓋50によって保護される構造となっている。

図2は、上記のようなデジタルカメラ1の内部構成を示すブロック図である。被写体からの光は撮影レンズ10を介してCCD撮像素子11に導かれる。CCD撮像素子11は複数の画素が2次元的に配列され、各画素において光電変換を行って出力する。これら画素信号は信号処理回路12においてノイズ除去やゲイン調整され、さらにA/D変換が行われて、画像データに変換される。CCD撮像素子11と信号処理回路12とはタイミングジェネレータ13によって制御される。

また、撮影レンズ10は駆動ユニット14によって制御され、例えば焦点距離調整(ズーミング)やフォーカス調整等が行われる。また、絞り駆動部材により絞り調整も行われる。

接眼検知ユニット22は、投光部22a、受光部22b、及び光学フィルタ22cを備えて構成され、図1に示すようにEVF21の横側に設置される。投光部22aは不可視光である赤外光を発生させるLED等の光源を内部に備え、全体制御部60から発光指令があった場合、所定周波数で赤外光を点滅発光させる。受光部22bはフォトダイオード等の受光素子を備えて構成され、受光光軸は投光部22aの投光光軸とほぼ並行になるように設置される。光学フィルタ22cは受光部22bの受光光軸上に設置され、外部から入射する光のうち、赤外光を透過し、可視光を遮光する。このため、受光部22bにおいては赤外光成分のみが検出されるように構成されている。

接眼検知ユニット22がユーザの接眼状態を検知する場合において、現にユーザがファインダ部20を覗いていると、投光部22aから出射する所定周波数の赤外光はユーザの眼球周辺で反射し、その反射光成分が受光部22bに入射する。そのため、受光部22bにおいては所定周波数で変動する反射光成分が検出されることになる。

これに対し、ユーザがファインダ部20を覗いていない状態では、投光部22aから出射する赤外光は反射されることがないので、受光部22bにおいて反射光成分が検出されることはない。ところが、環境光に含まれる赤外光成分は受光部22bに入射し、環境光に応じた赤外光成分が受光部22bにおいて検出されることになる。

一般に、LCD30等で表示される画像の視認性に影響を与えるのは、可視光であるが、太陽等の一般光源について考えると、環境光に含まれる赤外光成分と可視光成分との間には一定の相関関係があるため、赤外光の輝度レベル(光量)から可視光の輝度レベル(光量)を求めることが可能である。したがって、本実施形態では、LCD30等の表示手段と同一面側に配置された接眼検知ユニット22を使って環境光の状態を検出するように構成される。

各スイッチ群71,72は全体制御部60の指令によってオンオフ状態を切り替えるように構成されており、第1のスイッチ群71のスイッチSW1,SW2がオンのときには、第2のスイッチ群72のスイッチSW3,SW4はオフとなる。また逆に、第2のスイッチ群72のスイッチSW3,SW4がオンのときには、第1のスイッチ群71のスイッチSW1,SW2はオフとなる。このような切替動作により、受光部22bにて検出される赤外光の検出結果を、接眼検知回路80又は測光回路90に対して択一的に与えることが可能である。

接眼検知回路80は、ゲイン設定回路81、カップリングコンデンサ82、バンドパスフィルタ(BPS)回路83、整流回路84、検波用充放電回路85、及び、ヒステリシスコンパレータ86を備えて構成される。接眼検知ユニット22の投光部22aが所定周波数で光源を点滅発光させると、反射物体がある場合には上記周波数でフォトダイオード29に電流が流れる。この電流をゲイン設定回路81に与え、カップリングコンデンサ82、BPF回路83、整流回路84、及び検波用充放電回路85を介して電圧に変換する。この電圧はコンパレータ86により、所定電圧と比較され、全体制御部60に出力される。このため、受光部22bが投光部22aからの光の反射光成分を受光した場合には、接眼検知回路80からは所定周波数の信号が全体制御部60に与えられることになる。これに対し、受光部22bが環境光の赤外光成分のみを受光する場合には、接眼検知回路80において微弱な信号成分が除去されることとなり、全体制御部60に有効な信号成分は入力しないことになる。

また、測光回路90は、オペアンプ91,93と、ダイオード92とを備え、ダイオード92はフォトダイオード29に流れる電流を対数圧縮するためにオペアンプ91の出力端子と反転入力端子との間に介挿される。また、オペアンプ93は出力端子と反転入力とが短絡され、バッファ回路として機能する。このように構成された測光回路90では、フォトダイオード29に流れる電流は対数圧縮された後、アナログ電圧に変換される。そしてそのアナログ電圧が全体制御部60に出力されることになる。

図2に戻り、デジタルカメラ1の内部には、EVF21に対応してEVF用バックライト25が設けられ、EVF21によって画像表示を行う際にはEVF用バックライト25が点灯するように構成される。また同様に、LCD30に対応してLCD用バックライト35が設けられており、LCD30によって画像表示を行う際にはLCD用バックライト35が点灯する。EVF用バックライト25及びLCD用バックライト35は所定周波数で高速点滅することにより、EVF21及びLCD30のそれぞれで表示される画像の明るさ(すなわち、表示輝度)を一定の状態に保つことが可能である。特に、LCD用バックライト35は所定周波数で点灯する際のオンデューティが全体制御部60からの指令に応じて変化するように構成されている。

また、デジタルカメラ1の表面側に設けられた操作部材40は全体制御部60に接続され、ユーザによって入力される指示は全体制御部60に与えられるようになっている。さらに、カメラ側面に装着される記録媒体51も全体制御部60に接続され、記録媒体51に対する画像データの書き込みや記録媒体51からの画像データの読み出しは全体制御部60の制御によって行われる。

これに対し、入力するアナログ信号に点滅周波数にほぼ一致する信号成分が含まれない場合には、ユーザがファインダ部20に対して非接眼状態であると判定する。例えば、図5に示すようにユーザがファインダ部20に対して非接眼状態にある場合には、受光部22bでは、投光部22aが出射した所定周波数の光の反射光成分が受光されず、その結果、アナログ信号処理回路70から信号評価部64に入力するアナログ信号からは、所定周波数の信号成分が検出されないので、ユーザが非接眼状態にあることが判明する。

次に、検知機能切替部63によって環境光を測光するための測光機能が選択されている場合、信号評価部64は、アナログ信号処理回路70から入力するアナログ信号(受光部22bにおいて受光される赤外光成分の輝度レベルに応じた電圧)から一定の相関関係に基づいて環境光(特に可視光成分)の輝度レベルを求める。例えば、図6に示すようにユーザがファインダ部20に対して非接眼状態にあり、ある程度離れた距離からLCD30を視認している場合には、受光部22bにおいて環境光に含まれる赤外光成分が受光され、その結果、信号評価部64において、その環境光の輝度レベルが求められる。信号評価部64において求められる環境光の輝度レベルは、デジタルカメラ1が設置される周辺の明るさに応じて変動し、特に、デジタルカメラ1の背面側に環境光の光源がある場合には、信号評価部64において求められる環境光の輝度レベルは大きくなる。このようにして求められる環境光の輝度レベルも表示制御部65に与えられる。

表示制御部65は、EVF21及びLCD30にて表示すべき画像をEVF21及びLCD30に与えるとともに、各バックライト25,35の点灯状態を制御するように構成される。例えば、CCD撮像素子11において得られた画像を表示する際には、画像処理部61から得られる画像をEVF21又はLCD30に出力し、バックライト25又は35を点灯させる。また、記録媒体51に記録された画像を再生表示する際には、記録媒体51から再生対象の画像を取得し、それをEVF21又はLCD30に出力してバックライト25又は35を点灯させる。さらに、ユーザがデジタルカメラ1に対する設定操作等を行うための操作案内画面を表示する際には、表示制御部65においてメニュー画面等の操作案内画面を作成し、それをEVF21又はLCD30に出力してバックライト25又は35を点灯させる。
