【0001】

The present invention relates to a disk storage device used for an information processing device and the like, and more particularly, to a plastic disk substrate, a method of polishing a plastic substrate, and a magnetic disk substrate clamping device using the same.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, since a substrate for a magnetic disk requires a smooth and defect-free surface and mechanical strength, aluminum alloys and glass have been mainly used as materials. In addition, magnetic disk drives have traditionally been incorporated into computers and used indoors, but in recent years they have been installed on mobile computers and used outdoors, and in addition to computers, audio, video, It is also being used as a medium for recording video and music, such as car navigation systems.
[0003]
Thus, in recent years, as the use of magnetic disks has expanded, there has been a demand for higher density and lower costs of magnetic disks than ever before.
[0004]
Furthermore, considering the mounting on mobile electronic products such as digital cameras and PDAs, miniaturization and weight reduction are also important issues. In recent years, glass excellent in mechanical strength, particularly impact resistance, has been often selected as a substrate for a magnetic disk.
[0005]
However, since a glass substrate is not satisfactory in terms of cost, in recent years, it has been proposed to use a plastic injection-molded substrate as a magnetic disk in order to increase the density and reduce the cost.
[0006]
This is because the plastic disk substrate formed by injection molding transfers the mirror surface of the stamper by injection molding compared to the conventional Al alloy or glass, so that the polishing process can be greatly reduced, thereby reducing the cost. This is because the cost can be reduced, the load on the spindle motor can be reduced by reducing the weight, and the power consumption of the hard disk drive can be reduced.
[0007]
FIG. 11 shows an overview of the hard disk drive.

[0011]
In this way, the magnetic disk attached to the rotating shaft of the spindle motor by the clamp device is driven to rotate by the rotation of the spindle motor, and magnetic recording of data and the like is performed by the magnetic head on the magnetic film on the surface of the magnetic disk. The data is recorded on the track of the magnetic film and reproduced on the track.

In order to solve such a problem, a substrate in which the thickness of the inner peripheral portion is thicker than that of the outer peripheral portion, and a plastic magnetic recording in which the thick portion (convex portion) of the inner peripheral portion is gripped by a clamper having a contact area larger than this portion. A medium recording / reproducing apparatus has been proposed (for example, see Patent Documents 1 and 2).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the above-mentioned circumferential shape change also occurs in the convex portion (clamp portion) of the inner peripheral portion due to shrinkage caused by a temperature difference in a cooling process during molding, stress at the time of gate cutting for forming a center hole, and the like. Also, warpage as shown in FIG. 3 occurs.
[0030]
This is the same as the conventional clamp unit for a disk substrate having a uniform thickness (there is no convex shape at the center). Therefore, even if a thick portion (convex portion) of the inner peripheral portion is gripped by a clamper having a larger contact area than this portion, the entire disc is still deformed.
[0031]
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above problem, and when a clamp portion of a disc using a plastic substrate is sandwiched from above and below, a plastic substrate that does not deform the entire disc, It is an object of the present invention to provide a method of polishing a substrate and a magnetic disk substrate clamping device using the same.
[0032]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the plastic substrate of the present invention is manufactured by injection molding, and in a plastic substrate having a front side, a back side, and a center hole, an outer edge data surface used as a magnetic storage surface, and the center hole. An inner peripheral clamp portion clamped around, wherein a plate thickness of the inner peripheral clamp portion is larger than a plate thickness of the outer peripheral data surface, and a shape of the inner peripheral clamp portion is the front surface side and the back surface. It is characterized by a convex shape having a flat top on the side.
[0033]
Here, the plane of the top of the convex shape of the inner peripheral edge clamp portion may have a flatness of 0.1 μm to 0.5 μm and a parallelism of 0.1 μm to 0.5 μm.
[0034]
Further, the convex shape may be vertically symmetrical on the front side and the back side.
[0035]
Further, the method of polishing a plastic substrate of the present invention has a hole which fits into the inner peripheral edge clamp portion of the plastic substrate, and a protective member which covers the outer peripheral edge data surface is provided on the front side and the rear side of the clamp portion. Respectively, and then, the tape-shaped polishing member wound around the rotating member is brought into contact with the top surface of the convex shape of the clamp section from the front side and the back side, respectively, by rotating the rotating member. And polishing the top surface of the convex shape.
[0036]
Further, a magnetic disk substrate clamping apparatus of the present invention includes a magnetic disk using the plastic substrate, a clamp base mounted on a spindle and supporting the magnetic disk, and a clamp for fixing the magnetic disk on the clamp base. A cap, wherein the clamp base and the clamp cap sandwich the inner peripheral edge clamp portion from above and below.
[0037]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
First, the injection molding means according to the present invention will be described.
[0038]
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view of an injection mold that can be used for injection molding a plastic substrate according to the present invention. In an injection molding machine, a resin melted in a heating cylinder is filled in a cavity space of an injection molding die to form a substrate. In the drawings, reference numeral 1 denotes a fixed mold that is attached to a molding machine base (fixed side) (not shown). The fixed mold 1 includes a fixed

After the filling of the resin material into the molding cavity A is completed and a predetermined cooling / solidification period has elapsed, the central hole of the resin molded substrate molded in the molding cavity A is punched out by projecting the gate cut 19. Thereby, the inner diameter of the molded product can be removed.
[0044]
After punching out the center hole, the movable platen (not shown) of the mold clamping device is retracted, so that the

[0048]
In addition, the characteristics of the molded article can be adjusted by independently controlling the temperature of the cooling medium in the cooling medium system on the fixed side and the cooling medium system on the movable side. Therefore, when the molded product is, for example, a magnetic disk substrate, it is possible to adjust mechanical characteristics such as a warp angle and a surface runout. For this purpose, the fixed side cooling medium system and the movable side cooling medium system are respectively provided with temperature adjusting means, and each temperature adjusting means is operated by a control device (not shown).

FIG. 3 shows a sectional view in which the shape of the clamp portion is emphasized. The shape of the fixed-side bush and the movable-side bush that faces the surface during the molding process due to the shrinkage caused by the temperature difference in the cooling process during molding and the stress during gate cutting to form the center hole during molding It does not pass and warps and swells occur. This is similar to the clamp of a disk substrate having a uniform thickness (there is no convex shape at the center) shown in the conventional example.
[0052]
Next, FIG. 4 shows an example of a method for polishing a clamp portion of a plastic substrate according to the present invention.
[0053]
As shown in FIG. 4, polishing is performed with a tape in such a manner that the clamp portion of the disk substrate is sandwiched from above and below, and a process for improving the accuracy of flatness and parallelism of the clamp portion can be performed. At this time, since the

For the plastic substrate of the present invention, for example, by using the above-described simple polishing method, the precision of the clamp portion, which was difficult only by conventional molding and difficult to polish, can be improved to a flatness of 0.1 μm to 0.5 μm and a parallelism. It can be achieved between 0.1 μm and 0.5 μm.

In FIG. 7, the clamp device includes a boss portion that fits into the
[0061]
In FIG. 7, the contact surface between the convex portion of the substrate and the clamp is the same size. However, since the convex portion of the substrate has a desired flatness by polishing, the size of the contact surface of the clamp is large. There is no restriction on the size, and the size may be larger or smaller than the protrusion of the substrate.
[0062]
Further, although not limited, in order to equalize the stress distribution in the clamped portion in the clamped state, the

[0064]
In a plastic disk substrate clamped using such a clamp device, the concentration of stress generated by the clamping force and the shape of the clamp in the clamp portion is very small, and the deformation of the entire disk substrate due to the clamp is extremely small. In other words, large runout of the data portion does not occur. Therefore, the flying height of the head slider does not fluctuate, recording and reproduction by the magnetic head are performed stably, and so-called head crash in which the magnetic head collides with the surface of the magnetic disk can be suppressed.
[0065]
The above-described clamp device can be used not only as a hard disk device which always uses a disk substrate fixed to a spindle motor, but also as a clamp method for a disk cartridge for a removable magnetic storage medium as shown in FIG. The removable magnetic storage medium disk cartridge is composed of a removable

【The invention's effect】
As described above, the use of the plastic substrate, the method for polishing a plastic substrate, or the apparatus for clamping a magnetic disk substrate of the present invention makes it possible to suppress deformation of the entire plastic substrate due to clamping by simple processing. That is, it is possible to provide a magnetic disk in which the data portion does not cause large surface runout. Also, by using such a magnetic disk, the flying height of the head slider does not fluctuate, recording and reproduction by the magnetic head are performed stably, and a so-called head crash in which the magnetic head collides with the surface of the magnetic disk. Furthermore, since the flying height of the head slider does not vary, the flying height of the head slider can be reduced, and a magnetic disk device with an increased storage capacity can be provided.
