Abstract
Description
【0001】
【0055】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet printer, and more particularly, to an ink jet printer using a photocurable ink, which is advantageous for increasing the image forming speed.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, a photo-curable inkjet image forming method such as an ultraviolet curable type can be printed on various base materials without providing a dedicated image receiving layer. In general, in UV-curable ink-jet image formation, a method of generating active species in a short time using a high-power light source such as a high-pressure mercury lamp or a metal halide lamp to advance ink curing.
[0003]
However, it has been pointed out that the use of a high-power light source tends to cause deterioration of the ink film properties after curing, and is not preferable from the viewpoint of power saving and downsizing of the printer. Furthermore, in the case of irradiating the entire recording surface with light after ink jet recording, it takes a long time to obtain a recorded image, and there is a problem that the printer must be large.
[0004]
In order to solve this problem, Patent Document 1 discloses a printer configuration that irradiates an ink landing position with an ultraviolet spot light guided by an optical fiber from an ultraviolet light source, enables ink curing even with a small output light source, and It is described that the image recording speed can be reduced by performing the inkjet recording and the ultraviolet irradiation almost simultaneously.

[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-2002-144553
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the method described in Patent Document 1, when a serial-type on-demand type ink jet head is used, the entire image is recorded in response to an increase in ink jet recording speed by linking spot light irradiation with head scanning. Although it is possible to increase the recording speed to some extent, when a line-type on-demand inkjet head is used, which is advantageous for further increasing the inkjet recording speed itself, the ultraviolet radiation caused by mechanically moving the irradiation position However, there is a problem that the speed is limited by the spot light irradiation speed.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0010]
The ink-jet printer of the present invention contains, as ink, in addition to the pigment, for example, a monomer that is a precursor of a polymer compound, crosslinking of the monomer by a photocatalytic reaction, a photopolymerization initiator that promotes a polymerization reaction, a photopolymerization accelerator, and the like. Is used, and a photocurable ink having a property of being cured by crosslinking and polymerizing a monomer by irradiation with light such as ultraviolet rays is used. For example, JP-B 5-54667, JP-A-6-200204, and JP-T-2000-504778 disclose ultraviolet-curable inkjet inks, but are not limited to ultraviolet-curable inks. An ink that cures may be used.
[0011]
As a means for forming a point light source in a wavelength region for curing ink, for example, in the case of ultraviolet light in a specific wavelength region, an ultraviolet lamp emitting light with stable irradiation energy and a filter transmitting ultraviolet light of a specific wavelength as spot light are used. It is configured with. Here, as the ultraviolet lamp, a mercury lamp, a metal halide lamp, an excimer laser, an ultraviolet laser, a black light, an LED (light emitting diode) and the like can be applied, and a metal halide lamp tube, a mercury lamp tube or a black light is preferable. In particular, black light that emits ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 250 nm is preferable because it can prevent bleeding and can efficiently control the dot diameter.

FIG. 4 is a diagram showing an image of light irradiation on an ink landing surface (image forming surface of a recording medium).
[0054]
During the main scanning of the recording head (that is, during image formation by ink ejection), the sub-scanning is not performed and the recording medium is stopped. In the meantime, the ink landing surface having a width corresponding to the paper feed amount may be scanned to irradiate a light curable light amount. FIG. 4 shows a case where scanning is performed with a vertically long spot light corresponding to the paper feed amount on the long diameter side, but scanning may be performed several times in a form in which smaller spot lights are overlapped, and in either case, the light curing reaction of the ink is necessary. It is important to irradiate with high energy. In addition, with this configuration, spot light is applied to a narrow area of the ink landing surface, so that a high-power light source is not required, and power saving and downsizing of the ink jet printer can be achieved.
