Abstract
Description
【0001】

S=Rh×Rv×W×H×A×C/8
S=720[dpi]×720[dpi]×8.268[inch]×11.7[inch]×2[bit]×4/8[bit/byte]
=50147735[byte]
=48[Mbyte]
S=720[dpi]×720[dpi]×8.268[inch]×11.7[inch]×2[bit]×1/8[bit/byte]
=12536934[byte]
=12.0[Mbyte]

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a printing apparatus and a control method for the printing apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art A scanner-integrated printer (hereinafter, referred to as a scanner-printer copy or SPC multifunction peripheral), which has recently become widespread in general households, is used to scan a document on a platen in one direction while reading the image to generate image data. The image processing apparatus includes a scanner unit, a memory such as an SDRAM for temporarily storing the image data, and a printer unit for printing a print image on a sheet based on image data read from a memory area of the memory. The reading operation by the scanner unit and the printing operation by the printer unit are performed in parallel to shorten the copy time. That is, while reading a part of the image of the document and writing and storing the image data in a memory area, a parallel process of printing on paper based on the image data read from the memory area in parallel with this is performed. Short-time copy processing is realized by sequentially and repeatedly performing the processing over the entire range of the document.
[0003]
However, since the memory size, which is the storage capacity of the memory, is limited, if there is no free space during the above-described copy processing, a portion of the memory area where the image data already read for printing is present. Overwriting of image data to This overwriting can occur particularly in a case where the image data size becomes large, such as a high-quality color copy, and naturally, the memory at the end of the first copy contains the print image used for the copy. Only part of the image data remains. Therefore, even when a plurality of copies of the same document on the platen are made, it is necessary to perform a re-reading operation by the scanner unit every time one copy is made. The multiple-sheet copy process by the SPC multifunction peripheral is set in accordance with the above-mentioned case, that is, a re-read operation is performed every time one sheet is copied without exception.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the case of a low-quality monochrome copy, since the image data size is small, all the image data corresponding to the print image may fit in the memory area. In addition, since the low-quality monochrome copy is relatively frequently used, if the re-reading operation for multiple copies can be omitted even for this monochrome copy alone, the copy time can be reduced, and the usability is extremely high. It will be good.
The present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and an object of the present invention is to realize a recording apparatus capable of shortening a copy time and a control method of the recording apparatus.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention mainly provides an image reading unit for reading an image from a document to generate image data, a memory area for storing the image data, and reading from the memory area at appropriate timing. In a recording apparatus including a printing unit for printing a print image on a printing medium based on image data, it is determined whether all image data corresponding to the print image fits in the memory area, and the fit is determined. In the case of (1), the printing apparatus performs printing up to a set number of sheets based on the image data in the memory area without re-reading the document by the image reading unit.
Other features of the present invention will become apparent from the description of the present specification and the accompanying drawings.
[0006]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
=== Disclosure Overview ===
At least the following matters will be made clear by the description in this specification and the accompanying drawings.
Image reading means for reading an image from a document to generate image data, a memory area for storing the image data, and printing a print image on a printing medium based on the image data read from the memory area at appropriate timing And determining whether or not all image data corresponding to the print image fits in the memory area. A printing apparatus for performing printing up to a set number of sheets based on image data in the memory area without performing reading.
[0007]
According to such a recording apparatus, when all the image data corresponding to the print image fits in the memory area, printing up to a set number of prints is performed using the image data already stored in the memory area. It can be carried out. Therefore, when the above condition is satisfied, the re-reading operation by the image reading unit can be omitted, and the copy time can be reduced.
[0008]
Further, in such a recording apparatus, there is provided an input unit for inputting any one of the printing medium type and the copy quality, or copy quality mode information defined by a combination thereof, and the determination is made by the input unit. It is desirable to make the determination based on the copy quality mode information.
According to such a recording device, the determination is made based on the copy quality mode information input from the input unit. Therefore, when the user inputs the copy quality mode information from the input unit, whether or not the information fits in the memory area is determined. Is determined. Therefore, complicated arithmetic processing for determination is not required.
[0009]
Further, in the recording apparatus, the input unit can further input color / monochrome print mode information that specifies whether to perform printing in color print mode or monochrome print mode, and the determination is made by the input unit. It is desirable that the determination be made based on the combination mode of the input copy quality mode information and the color / monochrome print mode information.
According to such a recording apparatus, in addition to the copy quality mode information, color / monochrome print mode information which greatly affects the image data size can be input, and the determination is made based on a combination mode obtained by combining these. You. Therefore, the determination can be performed more precisely.
[0010]
In the recording apparatus, it is preferable that a size of the memory area is set to be equal to or larger than a maximum size of image data read and generated in at least one of the combination modes.
According to such a recording apparatus, since the memory area is set to be equal to or larger than the maximum size of the image data read and generated in the one combination mode, a re-read operation is performed for the one mode. Can be set to not. Therefore, in this mode, the user can make a copy in a short time as expected.
[0011]
Further, in such a recording apparatus, image data is sequentially stored in the memory area until the empty area is exhausted, and when the empty area is exhausted, the image data is stored in the area where the read image data exists. Preferably, the data is stored.
According to such a recording apparatus, when there is no more free space in the memory area, the image data is stored in the area where the read image data existed, so that the size of the memory area can be reduced. it can.
[0012]
In the recording apparatus, the image data is preferably CMYK data.
According to such a recording apparatus, the size of the memory area for storing image data can be reduced. That is, when the image data is RGB data, the image data size becomes large because of having multi-gradation data of dark and light, and a large memory area is required. However, when the CMYK data is binary data, it is binary data. The image data size can be reduced, so a small memory area is sufficient.
[0013]
An image reading means for reading an image from a document to generate CMYK image data; a memory area for storing the image data; and a printing medium based on the image data read at appropriate timing from the memory area. A printing apparatus for printing a print image, the printing apparatus comprising: input means for inputting either copy medium type or copy quality, or copy quality mode information defined by a combination thereof; The means can further input color / monochrome print mode information that specifies whether to perform printing in color printing or monochrome printing, and image data is sequentially stored in the memory area until there is no empty area. When the empty area is exhausted, the area where the read image data exists Image data is stored, and the size of the memory area is set to be equal to or larger than the maximum size of image data read and generated in at least one of the combination modes of the copy quality mode information and the color / monochrome print mode information. The determination as to whether or not all the image data corresponding to the print image fits in the memory area is performed based on the combination mode of the copy quality mode information and the color / monochrome print mode information input from the input means. If it is determined that the document can be accommodated, it is preferable to perform printing up to a set number of sheets based on the image data in the memory area without re-reading the document by the image reading unit.
According to such a printing apparatus, all the effects described above are exhibited, and thus the object of the present invention is most effectively achieved.
[0014]
An image reading means for reading an image from a document to generate image data; a memory area for storing the image data; and a print image on a printing medium based on the image data read at appropriate timing from the memory area. In a method of controlling a recording apparatus including a printing unit for printing the image, it is determined whether or not all the image data corresponding to the print image fits in the memory area. A printing method for printing up to a set number of sheets based on image data in the memory area without re-reading the original by the means.
According to such a control method of the recording apparatus, when all the image data corresponding to the print image fits in the memory area, the image data already stored in the memory area is used to reach the set number. Can be printed. Therefore, when the above condition is satisfied, the re-reading operation by the image reading unit can be omitted, and the copy time can be reduced.

=== Process to copy the same original multiple times in the copy function ===
Here, a process of copying a plurality of sheets of the same original, which is a characteristic matter according to the present invention, will be described.
First, the flow of this processing will be described with reference to the flowchart of the above processing shown in FIG. 13 and FIG.
[0079]
First, the copy number information and copy quality mode information are input from the operation panel unit 70 (S101), and when one of the color or

[0082]
By performing the above-described processing, the rereading operation is not performed at least when it is determined that the image data can be stored in the
[0083]
Here, a basic concept of determining whether or not all the image data (OL corresponding data) corresponding to the print image to be printed on the first sheet will fit in the
S = Rh × Rv × W × H × A × C / 8
In the above equation, Rh [dpi] is the horizontal printing resolution of the printing area, Rv [dpi] is the vertical printing resolution of the printing area, W [inch] is the horizontal width of the printing area, and H [inch] is the height of the printing area. It is. A is the number of bits per pixel [pixel]. C is the number of colors. In the case of a color copy, there are four colors of CMYK, and in the case of a monochrome copy, there is only one color of K.
[0084]
A specific example of this calculation will be described. For example, in the case of color copying without borders over the entire surface of A4 paper at a print resolution of Rh = Rv = 720 [dpi], the image data size S is
S = 720 [dpi] × 720 [dpi] × 8.268 [inch] × 11.7 [inch] × 2 [bit] × 4/8 [bit / byte]
= 50147735 [bytes]
= 48 [Mbytes].
When monochrome copying without borders is performed over the entire surface of A4 paper at a print resolution of Rh = Rv = 720 [dpi],
S = 720 [dpi] × 720 [dpi] × 8.268 [inch] × 11.7 [inch] × 2 [bit] × 1/8 [bit / byte]
= 12536934 [bytes]
= 12.0 [Mbytes].
Note that the reason why the number of bits per pixel is 2 [bit] in the above calculation example is that 2 [bit] is required for the serial print signal of the mask circuit described above.
[0085]
When the image data size S calculated in this way is compared with the memory size of the
[0086]
However, in the present embodiment, in order to speed up the processing, the determination is made by omitting the calculation of the image data size S and the complicated calculation processing such as comparing the calculation result with the memory size. Has become. That is, a judgment result list table that summarizes the judgment results is stored and prepared in advance in a ROM (not shown) of the

[0089]
Here, a method of creating the determination result list table 541 will be described. Each judgment result in the judgment result list table 541 must be predicted and determined in advance for convenience in being stored in the ROM. Therefore, for each combination mode, the determination result is determined by comparing the maximum image data size Sm possible in the mode with the memory size of the
[0090]
For example, in the case of this embodiment, since the maximum paper size is A4 size as described above, the size of the maximum print area is 8.268 [inch] in width W and 11.7 [H] in height. inch]. Therefore, this is substituted into the above formula, and when the combination mode is “plain paper-fast” and “monochrome”, the horizontal print resolution Rh is 720 [dpi], the vertical print resolution Rv is 720 [dpi], Further, since the number of colors C is 1 [color], when these are further substituted into the above-mentioned formula, the maximum image data size Sm is calculated to be 12.0 [Mbytes]. This calculation result is compared with 12 [Mbytes], which is the memory size of the
[0091]
On the other hand, in the combination mode of “plain paper-fine” and “monochrome” having a higher print resolution, the print resolution Rh in the horizontal and vertical directions is 1440 [dpi] and 720 [dpi], respectively. S becomes 24.0 [Mbytes], and the determination result of “not fit” is associated with this combination mode.
[0092]
=== Other Embodiments ===
Although the above embodiment mainly describes the SPC multifunction apparatus, the above embodiment is for facilitating the understanding of the present invention, and is not for limiting the present invention. The present invention can be changed and improved without departing from the spirit thereof, and it goes without saying that the present invention includes its equivalents. In particular, even the embodiments described below are included in the recording apparatus according to the present invention.
[0093]
In the above-described embodiment, the SPC multifunction apparatus has been described as a recording apparatus, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, a color filter manufacturing apparatus, a dyeing apparatus, a fine processing apparatus, a semiconductor manufacturing apparatus, a surface processing apparatus, a three-dimensional modeling machine, a liquid vaporizer, an organic EL manufacturing apparatus (especially a polymer EL manufacturing apparatus), a display manufacturing apparatus, and a film forming apparatus The same technology as in the present embodiment may be applied to an apparatus, a DNA chip manufacturing apparatus, and the like. These methods and manufacturing methods are also within the scope of application.
[0094]
In the above-described embodiment, ink such as dye ink or pigment ink is ejected from the nozzle. However, the liquid ejected from the nozzle is not limited to such ink. For example, a liquid (including water) including a metal material, an organic material (especially a polymer material), a magnetic material, a conductive material, a wiring material, a film forming material, an electronic ink, a processing solution, a gene solution, and the like is discharged from the nozzle. May be. If such a liquid is directly discharged toward an object, material saving, process saving, and cost reduction can be achieved.
[0095]
In the above-described embodiment, the ink is ejected using the piezo element. However, the method of discharging the liquid is not limited to this. For example, another method such as a method of generating bubbles in a nozzle by heat may be used.
[0096]
In the above-described embodiment, the printing of a plurality of copies is performed based on the image data stored in the interlace buffer and the re-reading by the scanner unit is omitted. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, when all the image data corresponding to the image of the document is stored in the image buffer, printing may be performed up to a set number of sheets based on the image data in the image buffer.
[0097]
In the above-described embodiment, it is determined whether or not to perform a re-read operation by referring to the determination result list table prepared in advance using the input copy quality mode information and color / monochrome print mode information as keys. However, the determination method is not limited to this. For example, immediately before the printing processing of the second sheet, the interlace buffer may be actually referred to check whether all the image data corresponding to the print image is stored in the interlace buffer. . As an example of this check method, for example, if the method of overwriting image data in the interlace buffer is a method in which the data is overwritten and stored in order from the start address of the memory area, the determination is made as follows. May be. The image data initially stored in the first address of the interlace buffer for printing the first sheet is also separately stored in an area that is not overwritten, and the image of the first address is stored immediately before each printing process for the second and subsequent sheets. The data is compared with the image data of the area which is not overwritten, and if both are the same, it is determined that the data is within the range.
[0098]
